Dart reals from the bite The venom courses though Dart's veins
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
But his constitution throws of it effects.
The viper would have gone though Dart's reach
And he strikes as the viper closes.
Melee AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Pike Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
| GM Kate |
The Perception check was just for Dart, yes! And I think he still needs to attempt it.
Dart's AoO and Raia's mind blast are enough to take it down! (I'll hold both Rocket and Al's attacks for the next snake. A much larger snake tries to work its way in from outside, but get lodged in the crack! Al and Rocket both shoot, but it still snaps at Dart. (It is Medium-sized, but has 10 foot reach with its bite.)
bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

The player failed his perception to roll perception :)
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
But the character is also slow today
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Moving around with his new found pike, Dart keeps the larger serpent occupied. But is still just scratched without any significant damage. The venom has no effect on the Kasathas.
With a flurry Drat strikes twice at the larger serpent at reach.
Melee Attack, Full 1: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 4 = 15
Damage Pike: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Melee Attack, Full 2: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 4 = 20
Damage Pike: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
| GM Kate |
Sorry, Omen-Seeker, the Magic Missile brought it down!
Out of combat.
_Rocket_
|
Rocket carefully moves forward and peers out (into?) the crack, keeping his weapon at the ready..just in case there's more on the other side then the snakes we already took care of.
"Anything in her bedroom we should take an interest in?
We didn't check the Several metal lockbox chests line the room did we?
| GM Kate |
Raia thoroughly investigates the snakes, and notices small pieces of green armor lodged in their many rows of teeth.
Rocket opens a metal chest and finds two tier 1 antitoxins and one tier 2 sedative.
Al 2O3
|
Al 2O3 reloads their weapon and then looks around at their companions. "Is anyone injured to the point of needing healing serums? Also, did anyone find anything requiring further scrutiny?" The android remains near the junction of the two rooms, keeping watch for further violent incursions while the team is taking stock of the situation.
Dart Handman
|
Dart turns to Al203. "I should be fine. A few moments to center myself should be more than sufficient"
If possible, Dart would like to take a 10-minute rest to get his SP back, but if we are pressed for time, that can be skipped
| GM Kate |
You totally have time for that! And yes, please let me know if anyone is looking more closely into anything!
Luke_Parry
|
Satisfied that the area seems safe enough (for the moment), the Lashunta moves to explore Oshessa's room a bit more closely (since, apparently, we now have time!), totally expecting some sort of trap...
| GM Kate |
Raia: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Raia searches the room carefully and finds a hidden trap door. It is both locked and alarmed.
Luke_Parry
|
The Lashunta quietly informs its colleagues of this discovery.
"Whatever she was hiding in there, is either valuable, dangerous, or something that she wanted kept hidden from the rest of the Cult... or all of the above. Dart, when you are ready, I think that is where we should look next...?"
Omen-Seeker
|
Omen-Seeker stares hard at the dead snakes, feeling stricken that they were forced to kill the poor things. She says a silent prayer for their essences, in the hopes that they find peace.
"The Cult seems to be worshipping Zon-Kuthon, though they may not recognize the name. I have always known them as devout, but not usually prone to violence against non-members of the faith. Perhaps this door will allow us more insight as to why they worship him?"
Al 2O3
|
Though uninjured, Al 2O3 also takes time to recalibrate, then indicates readiness to proceed, rifle at the ready.
Spending 1 RP during the 10 minute rest Dart is taking, allowing Al to use their energy shield a second time if we are attacked again.
701
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Raia, do you share about the green armor in the snake's mouth? Also, 701 spends one resolve point as well.
701 takes advantage of the time his allies use to refocus or mend their wounds, to give them a short motivational speech.
"We've got no clue on what's behind door number two, but if Oshessa was so quick to attack here, I expect that there WILL be more nasty surprises the deeper we go, so look alive people."
[spoiler=Look Alive]When you spend a Resolve Point to regain Stamina Points after a 10-minute rest, all allies who stay within 60 feet of you throughout the rest gain a +2 morale bonus to Perception and initiative checks for the next hour or until the next 10-minute rest to recover Stamina Points, whichever comes first.[/spoler]
TLDR: All allies get +2 morale to Perception and Initiative for one hour.
| GM Kate |
Engineering! If you succeed at unlocking the door, you also turn off the alarm. But, if you fail the Engineering check by more than 5, the alarm goes off.
One other relevant thing as you look around this room: it is sound-proofed. You don’t think that anyone in the rest of the Lodge would hear the alarm go off, but anyone on the other side of the secret door probably would.
Al 2O3
|
Al slings their rifle. "With Ruby's assistance, I believe I could handle this door, if that would be agreeable with the rest of you?"
Is there enough space for one or more person to aid another on this check, GM?
| GM Kate |
Yup, you can get a person on either side of you, so two aids.
_Rocket_
|
"Want a hand with that?"
Rocket spits out some handy tools to hand over to Al while he's working as he offers tips on how to use them
"..now if you just put this over there and wiggle it.."
Assist on engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
701
|
@Kate: are the green pieces of armor from the snake identifiable? Now that Raia(Luke) has said that we'll be told about it. =)
"I'm willing to assist you Al, but it seems I may have misplaced my tools! This brain of mine is not what it was a few cycles ago."
Engineering Assist: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 11 - 2 = 24
Al 2O3

...now watch this...now that I realized that the "memory module" only allows a 1/day reroll for a "recall knowledge" skill check, not "any" skill check...even with a big bonus, now I'll roll something pathetic:
Engineering: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
*headdesk*

I'll be here all week, ladies and jellyfish!
| GM Kate |
It's armor; it's a material that might be aquatic in nature.
Unfortunately, even with two aids, the alarm goes off! You now have time to retry until you pick the lock, but anyone on the other side of this trap door is alerted.
We're doing a few things simultaneously because play-by-post, but if 701 or anyone else wants to investigate the armor bits/snakes further, we can resolve that before going through the trap door.
Al 2O3

1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

Dart Handman
|
Knowing that we have lost the element of surprise, Dart readies himself behind the engineers to swim in to the next room. With his pike, sword, and mote, glowing read and gold tankard) at the ready The mote is out for show and light. But is otherwise useless underwater
| GM Kate |
Sorry, I wasn't clear there. At this point, you can effectively take 20 since the alarm is already set off and you're able to make the DC. We don't need to roll it!
Al 2O3
|
Al tries to stop being part of the problem and moves to one side letting Rocket and 701 take the lead, muttering to themselves about disparities between three-dimensional wireframe exocortex models versus reality in precisely seven different languages other than common.
Still, sorry for flubbing the roll(s) -.-
701
|
With things happening at the same time, can I try to identify the aquatic nature of the armor? Before the door opens, of course.
Culture: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
_________________________
"Let's take it slow with the door now, we don't want to have it stuck on its closed position."
701 takes his sweet time to engineer the door opening, with both his weapons on their holsters once again.
| GM Kate |
There’s not much to go by, but it seems consistent with kalo armor.
701
|
"Huh... guys... that armor that was stuck in the snake's teeth? I'm about ninety-eight certain that it has some traditional kalo motifs on it, I'd go as far to say that our MantaCorp friends were not given a poisonous meal at all, perhaps they became the snake's meal instead? But I can't think of a reason for them being on the outside of the Lodge!"
__________________
After relaying what little pertinent information his trivia-riddled brain managed to remember, 701 confirms to Rocket he is ready with a pat on the shoulder.
_Rocket_
|
After hearing 701's remark Rocket scratches behind one of his ears
"Have you considered the possibility that they _did_ eat a poisonous meal and like died or were severely weakened and that their corpses/bodies got tosses outside in the water to be disposed of by becoming a snake's meal?"
"Not saying your wrong..just saying there could be other possibilities for one of those snakes to have chewed on a Mantacorper"
Al 2O3
|
"Either way..." Al sighs, reactivating their energy shield for the next several minutes, "now that I blundered with the door, whatever is beyond will be ready...it's clear that the overtures of peace were simply to lure us in for potentially the same fate."
Once it seems like Rocket has the door in hand(s), Al will re-draw their rifle and stand back to a covering-fire position.
| GM Kate |
The trap door opens, but nothing comes through! You see a tunnel leading down.
Al 2O3
|
The android professor tilts their head to the side for a very quick second. "What is that terminology I've heard soldiers use...leap frog? I'm uncertain what Anura Amphibia has to do with tactical movement, but in any event, since I did, as another expression postulates, 'tip our hand' as it were..."
Al 2O3 heads into the tunnel, relying on their darkvision to help them see, taking position behind one of the rocks (or what look like rocks on the map) to provide cover for the others as they (hopefully) follow suit.
Dart Handman
|
Dart will take the lead pass Al203 keeping watch out.
Dart have darkvison from his armor upgrade
| GM Kate |
I went ahead and moved everyone in.
The currents push debris throughout this rocky cave. Several carved-stone skull-and-chain symbols hang from the walls, and a large table with several knives bolted to it stands at the center of the chamber. The thick metal bolts prevent the cutting utensils from floating away in the heavy motion of the water. Two cage cells are set along the eastern wall. A glass case with plastic gloves set into the side contains various books and datapads. Teltham, the teal morlamaw who greeted you alongside Hinevera, stands near a table. One of the cages holds a bedraggled-looking, but still conscious, kalo.
Teltham watches as you enter. ”Just what do you think you’re doing in here? Oshessa will have words for you.”
The current is much stronger here, and it’s now a DC 15 Athletics check to swim.
| GM Kate |
"What! Impossible. The likes of you could never have defeated Oshessa." He draws himself up to look more powerful, and he seems to have a shiny force field of some kind surrounding him.
The kalo in the cage is gesturing wildly at you, mouthing "HELP ME!"
