Hey Dreaming Warforged, I was wondering if you would allow me to use the Cavalier archetype Houndmaster from this years RPG superstar? Just curious if you don't ill go with another idea, thx in advance for your reply!

I would have no problem with it. It was very well thought and executed.

I know how the action points work. In Eberron, they also can be used to grant extra uses of class abilities (which were altered in transition to Pathfinder), as well as to stabilize a dying character (stabilization has also changed). If you are throwing out these options and just relegating the bonus d6 roll to modifying d20 rolls only, that's fine by me; I just wanted to know. :)

Thank you for pointing that out. These rules never came in play so I had forgotten them. I think they bring interesting options to the game. So action points can be used to stabilize or to activate an expanded class feature (2 points though). Powers that are now fuelled by round might work differently. Perhaps one point per round to fuel? This can be discussed once the players are chosen.

SWEET!!! Should have a character app posted by tonight!!!!

I'm thinking about a Changeling Rogue. Was a spy / information gatherer during the war...maybe dip into fighter a bit, but mostly rogue. I'll give it some thought, and post a concept hopefully tomorrow evening.

I am working on a Human Cleric. Perhaps Ranger/Cleric. Or Bard/Cleric. Still working on the story, so I'm not sure which of the three will fit best.

DW, could you give us a brief timeline for those of us without Ebberon materials, or a link? You say in Dalvin's bio that he was born in 916. What year is the campaign starting? When did the war end? What years did he make each leap in promotion?

Oh damn, I'm part way through writing a concept for the exact same thing.

Here is the sheet for the halfling druid. Ended up making an entirely new character than the old one i was going to remake. I'll flesh out the rest of the requirements through the week. thanks for the link, it gave me good inspiration!

edit: also hit points and equipment are just filler, I will roll them and do actual gear once I know if I was chosen or not, unless u want that done before hand.

Okay last few question's

1 the big milatery push towards eston how long did it actually last

2 Would they have passed through or near any villages/ towns during it?

3 Would said towns/villages have been evacuated before the force arrived?

I have one just for the Last War, but it's not translated yet. I should be able to put it up Friday. Meanwhile, this is a more general timeline that shows some key moments of the Last War.

The game starts in 998 YK, two years into the Treaty.
936 YK: First Siege of Korth
939 YK: Second Siege of Korth
942 YK: Talenta Plains Battle
961 YK: Siege of Shadukar
971 YK: Third siege of Korth
982 YK: Thrane's walk on Karrnath
994 YK: Day of Mourning. Cyre disappears under the Shroud.

Let me know if you need anything else.

grmnbln, (I hope I pronounce it right!) I've played with Scranford for many years and trust him as a solid player and poster. I am very likely to pick him if is concept fits the team and the story. I think it's best you know.

1. Months, not years. It happened in 993 YK. A confused year where nothing was too clear about the war and who was winning where. Dalvan moved out his troops just before the Day of Mourning.

2. Yes, definitely. The army would use the fields and granaries to feed their troops, and the towns cemetery to fill their undead ranks...

3. Some villages would be caught by surprise, while others would have been warned in time. Dalvan could move his troops quite fast, despite the undead components and would often take unpredictable routes to avoid counter forces.

Let me know if you need more.

Is there room for one more player? I'm thinking noble savage type of character, an Uruk ranger from the Elden Reaches, with connections to the Gatekeepers, perhaps.

The application deadline is Sunday.

I want to have a look at all the applications before making a decision.

Decision will be based mostly on the quality of the application, group dynamics, posting history (anyone who's been on a few PbP games know how devastating the attrition rate is), links to the setting. Roles will play a role (!), but to a lesser extent. I'll be going from modules to modules, but it's still a homebrew, and it's E6, so there is no absolute need for a "one of each" team of player.

One more thing. Well, two really...

I see some of you working on multiclass. No problem with that, but know that:

-Use fractional BAB and saves (google it if you don't know it).

-There will be capstone feats for level 6 classes (just didn't have time to prepare them yet), though I might open a way to get them if you multiclassed, albeit much later (something like one feat prereq for each level missing).

Dreaming Warforged wrote:

When was the battle of Fort Bones? How long did it last?

Also, if it helps my submission, I am able to regularly post weekdays & Saturdays after 5pm, and Sundays (and some Mon/Wed) all throughout the day. This PbP will be replacing my home game, and I can commit for at least a year, if not longer.

Good to know. I considered going witch all the way, but the level of ranger fit the backstory the best. I plan to stick to witch the rest of the way. If you do re-training, I'd consider retraining the ranger level much later in his career, once he's moved beyond that part of his life.

He repelled an offensive by Thrane’s Virtuous Legion, led by an archon, seeking the destruction of Fort Bone.

982 YK: Thrane's walk on Karrnath

Are these the same thing?

When were the Confused Years? When was his aborted invasion of Eston?

Cleric's are proficient with their diety's favored weapon. Does Olladra have one?

Assuming they are, I changed Viyko's age a bit, and added dates to significant milestones in his background story.

Spoiler:
bit of an odd question but how would Dalvan react to Lethe bringing a young civilan they had found with them (the chocie being bring them along or leave them there to possibly starve/killed by whatever comes along next etc) Also am I correct in assuming a lot of people dont like/trust shifters?

I'm going to work on the background today and post it later.

I can do daily posting. Right now I am playing in two games and I'm GMing a Midnight game that has 5000 posts right now and I'm about to start another one in a month or two.

Yes. So the battle at Fort Bones was in 982 YK.

It's still open for discussion, as we're nowhere near this moment yet, but I don't think I would. However, capstone abilities for level classes would remain available, only later.

The Confused Years (I might come up with a better name...) were the years prior to the Day of Mourning. Nothing clear comes out of those years in terms of winners and losers. One big stalemate really. To be precise: 993 and some of 994 YK.

Olladra's favored weapon is the sickle... I'm open to other suggestions that would fit the goddess.

Kevin:
I'm not sure who Lethe is. I'm afraid it's somwhere in my notes and I just forgot about it. Please humor me. In general, Dalvan would frown upon such request, unless presented with a clear and obvious reason that is in line with the preservation of his Brigade and the advancement of Karrnath's cause.

Shifters are associated with a general bad stereotype. As with every stereotype, it varies with the culture and the individual. In Thrane... In Karrnath, they don't have such a bad reputation as they are not present in great numbers and have not put pressure on the citizens ways and beliefs.

Great! *Resumes normal breathing*

Actually if you wouldent mind looking over what I have now and telling me what you think (I have a habbit of getting carried away when it comes to background).

Kevin Mack:
It looks good in general. I like the risk you're taking with the 11 years old ward. It brings a nice opportunity for character development.

I would like to see three links for people. Dalvan is dead, so you can't count him. You're also missing the events and the item. Plenty of time to look at this until Sunday.

So, I am debating taking a dragon mark, the Mark of Sentinel. How does that work? A feat to get the Humble Mark, then she gets a +2 bonus to Survival and can cast one of the two spells? Is that once a day? CL = character level?

Would it make it any easier or harder for you if she had one?

Mark of Sentinel
Race: Humans
Organization: House Deneith, based in Karrnath
Humble Mark: +2 Survival, Mage Armor or Shield of Faith
Sublime Mark: Protection from Energy or Protection from Arrows

Markofbane wants a Markofsentinel... Sorry, too easy!

Yes, once per day, CL equals Character level. It opens up other feats where you can have access to other powers of the mark. The Houses have a very important place in Khorvaire's current life. They are a big part of the Eberron flavour, but would mean you either have ties to the Deneith House, or you're off their radar, which you'll have to explain in your background (not that hard with a big war).

Marks also provide some new and interesting abilities to a character. You don't have to pick a mark in Karrnath. Houses' influence reach everywhere on Khorvaire.

In the history of Dalvan you say that he organizes a series of offenses on Thrane, I was wondering if he ever went into Thrane or were the battles only in Karrnath?

Lethe all finished besides hit points

I'm defininitly feeling a female changeling Rogue...Matahari like. I have Pathfinder with me, and can build the character no problems. I'll have to use the internet though since I don't have any Eberron stuff with me on this trip, so background will be a little challenging, but I'm up to it.

Roidrage wrote:

Yes, not deep into Thrane though. It was a very gruesome part of the war (Shadukar).

Lethe wrote:

I hope I get to adventure with you; love the character! One thing to note, you were 16 or 17 at the battle of Eston, and if Tika was 10 or 11, she would be 14 or 15 now (4-4.5 years time lapse). Viyko had retired from military service by then, so there's no way he would've met your character yet. I look forward to their interactions, as Lethe seems to have the potential to soften his edges as a friend.

I'm having guests today, so I'm not finished with my character, but I should be done with it by Saturday at the latest.

No worries. Deadline is Sunday. I'll try and send a '24 h left' notice on Saturday.

how do you handle crafting? i'm thinking about a human bard with the archivist archetype that likes to build traps and alchemical items. could also work as an alchemist, but would there be enough in game time for a character to actually make anything?

Based on past experience, I like to keep things moving. So there probably won't be so much time for crafting.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

I'll post up Resolute in a few. My Eberron books is hidden somewhere in a box, so I'll have to check around for extra info on the warforged, but that should be quick.

You mentioned a warforged is capable of repairing himself with a craft skill. What specialization of craft would that me? Also, do cure spells still work on them?

jmberaldo wrote:

From my profile: Repairs: a warforged can be repaired or repair itself through the use of a craft skill. He can repair up to two hit points per hour of work. He can’t repair more than twice his character level in a day. Special materials can improve these numbers.

Also, the warforged only gains half of the cure spells or channels. There are new spells like repair light damage for warforged and constructs.

Deadline in 48 hours

Here are the applications received so far:

Vrykkas the Pale, servant of the Blood of Vol, elven oracle of Bones
Viyko Kharde, human ranger/witch
Ayla, halfling druid (application still in progress)
Lethe, shifter barbarian

If I missed any, please let me know.

I know some of you are working on theirs. I'll stick around to answer questions as soon as possible.

Meet Tauni, nicknamed Rabbit. Background and description are under spoilers in her profile.

Questions: Do I need to do just background and description, or to write up the whole character? And, I have noticed that the party already has a ranger. Do you think that one more ranger will be too much, since my concept is an Uruk ranger, or should I go with warforged fighter?

nightflier wrote:

I'm asking for the whole sheet, except equipment. The ranger/witch seem to be going for witch after. An uruk ranger wouldn't create a problem. Will you be taking a mark? The mark of Finding sometimes appears among the uruks.

Dreaming Warforged wrote:

Correct. :) I plan to go witch all the way for the next 5 levels. If it wasn't for limited class skills, weapon proficiencies, and background flavor, I'd have gone witch all the way. Rogue was tempting as a first level option, though.

Resolute, the warforged is ready!
