Antas - Botted

The Paladin realizing he is critically wounded and on the verge of falling into darkness decides to try and bring down the murderer behind him. He turns hard bringing his hammer towards the man as he pulls out his sword thinking he had killed the man.

hammer attack: 1d20 + 6 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 3 = 19
lucarn hammer damage: 1d12 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 3 = 8
critical damage: 1d12 ⇒ 12

Antas takes -1 hp as he is taking a standard action in a DISABLED CONDITION (hp12/-1 DISABLED/CRITICAL -3)

Unaware of Antas battle prowess is caught completely off guard as the mortally wounded man spins and brings his hammer in short and with devastating under swing that catches the under the armpit. The hammer finds its mark and the sound of cracking bone and the wail of a man in pain can be heard clearly! The man is clearly going to break if he lives.

Ferona manages to give a quick nod of thanks at Peran but little else as Antas collapses in front of her.

Peran will be able to revive him...I pray so.

Turning her attention to the second cutpurse here she affixes him with another silent scream...

Cast Ear-Piercing Scream at Cutpurse 1.
The target is dazed for 1 round and takes 1d6 ⇒ 4 points of sonic damage. Fort save DC 13 negates the daze effect and halves the damage.

Again, seeing one of his companions fall in combat, Peran calls upon his god-given powers to heal his friend.

So last time you used channel you specifically stated you are touching Ferona and I missed it was channeling so I didn't use 30 feet radius although I should have but I missed it. But bear in mind if you channel and don't move towards Antas you will heal everyone in the 30 foot radius. Which means the cutpurses and sailors that are injured are going to get healed. Just want to point that out.

Oops, forgot he does not have selective channelling....would touching him make a difference? If not, then I will cast a cure light wounds on him instead??

By rule no it would not...because it simply states "Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric." Your first channel I didn't as I thought it was just CLW for some reason. If you want to only heal Antas it will need to be a CURE spell.

She looks at you and up the old open air wooden stairs that go to a platform. It appears the wooden railings have been removed and are in the process of being replaced. You make your way up the stairs and she closes the door behind you. There are several doors two of which are open and the rooms appear to be empty. One door is closed and at the end of the hall. You can hear someone moving about in the room. You make your way up to the door and give it a rap or two. A few minutes go by and from the other side of the door.

The door opens and Soros, looking much better, is in a pair of wool pants, low leather boots, and a cotton shirt and vest. He appears to have notes laid out and his fingers are covered in ink. An empty plate sits on his dresser and it is apparent he has been working for some time.

"Come in, come in, I am just finishing up on notes of our account the last few days. Wanted to get it all down while it was fresh in my mind." He picks up several parchments and blows on the writing and then places them neatly on a small desk. He puts another piece of parchment, a hand drawn map of the area that your group was in it as well as a sketch of the house. "Sorry...what can I help you with D'og!" He smiles at you and is clearly in a better mood. He also looks a lot better...still banged up a bit but his color and attitude are clearly on the mend.

Keeping his facial features and posture neutral as he enters.
Tis good to see you looking better. I am glad to see you are on the mend.

He turns and looks around the room...
...are we alone...

D'ogryn continues on...
All of us have been through a lot over the last few days. It will be a longtime before things return to...normal...

He looks down at the papers that the young man was writing.
I hope he did not put to paper exactly what we found..
I do not trust the others...I have only known them for a short time. It is not that they are not untrustworthy...just not smart when it comes to gossip. It appeared that when we finished with the first Goblins and came back to town. Everyone knew of our business within an hour after our return. They do not know when, where, and how to talk in front of others. It will bring attention I...we do not need.

He removes his satchel and lays it on a table.
I am here because I know that you can and will keep your wits about you when it comes to details. Some things are better...to not be said.

He opens thew satchel and pulls forth the papers.
I need to know what is on these before I can decide what is best to do with them. Can you tell me what language this is and what does it say. It could be nothing and most likely is just that...but...I need to make sure I know what is here before I turn them in. It is hard to know who to trust these days. I trust you and that is why I am here.

Naia wakes, hard and slow. Eyes bleary, tongue thick and head sore she rolls out of her mess and feels...bad. Still dressed in her leathers. Blood. Mead. Food. Clearly noe of the Temlow’s wanted to tell her how to comport herself yestereve. She stands woozily, and heads to the shore.

Without caring for any onlookers, the young Temlow trudges to the waves, slowly strips naked and wades in, the crisp-cold water both refreshing and biting as the salt clears away her crusty blood and grime. Naia dives in, and swims, and floats, and stands in the surf. Ever mindful of sharks (or worse) from the Azure, Naia stays not too deep nor too long.

Eventually she sits in a crouch in low water, grabbing handfuls of sand and cleaning herself by vigorously rubbing the coarse granules over her skin. She rinses her hair, spits, pisses and generally makes free with the sea. Finally she just sits, and waits for her head to clear as the waves plash against her.

Standing, Naia grabs her gear and heads home, plonking her armor by the outdoor fire. She finds breeches and a tunic and finds what she can to eat.

Grond stares momentarily as Naia undresses, mouth agape.

But then he 'catches himself' and averts his eyes, finding a random task to keep him busy somehow.

As the sounds within the house die, Narciso realizes that the others are moving outside. He opens his eyes with a clear sigh and rolls to his feet. scanning himself he quickly casts a cantrip (Prestidigitation) to clean his clothing and make himself more presentable. Gathering his gear he then moves to the kitchen area to see if there is any coffee or tea available, (even cold it would have a bit of caffeine.) and then moves outside glancing around to find anyone.

It doesn't take long to find Grond, and then the swimming Lady Temlow.... He remembers 'Naia' before he does anything so stupid as calling her 'Lady' again. Feeling the cool breeze off of the water, and hearing the ocean sounds makes him wish for more time here, even a day or two to relax with the sounds of the ocean and hear what Naia had grown up with. He looks around for something to rest against, sitting again to listen to the sounds.

When Naia leaves the water and heads back to the house Narciso keeps his focus on the sounds for several more minutes. Slowly realizing that it is time to rejoin whoever is still at the house he rises again and heads back.

He looks around the room as you ask that and turns back to you. "Yes...I think I am...unless there is something you see that I haven't?"

D'ogryn walks in and Soros closes the door behind him. "The sleep and a hot bath did the trick. I am still a bit stiff and my body feels like someone take a hammer to it but I will be fine in a few days."

D'ogryn begins to speak about their companions and he listens as he continues to pick up his notes and put them in what appears to be a journal of sorts.

"I am not sure I agree with you. Naia is not one to talk and I doubt Rabalar or Eden did as well. A matter of fact most of us returned to Naia's home to rest and get ready to venture back out. Zove was the only that left and she also didn't appear to be in a very talkative mood when she left. A matter of fact she was leaving for the wood with Okware if you recall. I don't think anyone was really wagging their tongues. I think most of it probably came from second or third hand sources." He seems to ponder that for a moment. "There are many hands in this pot...the town council, the watch, a few of the church heads. Busy bodies from the original meeting as well... I don't think our friends are the source."

He again looks at D'ogryn more with respect but also with a bit of a questioning look for a bit. "I have some thoughts on the matter. It seems there are things at play in the town that are beyond and above our heads for the moment."

He nods at the compliment. D'ogryn pulls out the papers and parchment. Soros walks over and starts to look at them closely.

Does this include all the papers and parchments in the chest you found? The ones in Keoish and the ones in the unknown language you found?

yes, all the papers.

Soros

The papers in Keoish he looks at for a few moments. Going through each and studying them. He turns a few over and on one he looks at a seal on one and studies it.

Take 10 on (K)Local 10+7=17

"Most of these papers are on the upkeep of the home. Nearly twenty or more years ago for some. But this one and this one. He lays them out. One has an official looking seal and the other has a smaller seal and several signatures on it. D'ogyrn has never seen anything like it. "This is the deed to the home and this is the title and deed to the land around it. Ten acres of the land in total. Our group should be made aware of these documents."

Soros

He looks at the remaining document that is sealed and has a parchment cover. "Now this is interesting." He turns it over a few times looks at the seal and the waxed parchment.

Take ten - Linguistics (( 10+7=17)), (K)Arcane (( 10+7=17)), (K)Religion ((10+7=17))

This is not an ordinary document. He opens the outer parchment up breaking the seal. "Ahh...well there you go." He looks at D'ogryn and points to the waxing parchment and then to the actual parchment that was inside the wrapped up parchment. "It is a spell or spells...the waxing stuff was a homemade scroll tube...so to speak."

He then looks at the parchment and lays them out and attempts to read them. "The writing is not arcane in nature and there are religious elements to it or I should say them. Both are divine scrolls." He scratches his head and then waves his hands and says something quickly that D'ogryn didn't really understand but it sounded very logical or orderly in nature. His hands seem to light up quickly ad his eyes seem to glow for a bit. He then starts reading the documents and making noises like he is amused and interested.

One is a spell called Dancing Lantern it is an interesting spell and one that we could have used last night. The other is a spell called Divine Trident and is more offensive spell. He carefully puts the documents back into the waxy parchment and folds it back up. He then takes a candle and pours wax on the folded edge to seal it and puts his ring into it. "Useful for a priest or cleric maybe Edan could use them?

Dancing Lantern (Cleric 1st/cast 6th), Divine Trident (Cleric 2nd/cast 6th).

Edan

Edan finishes praying and sees that Naia down the way bathing. The water is cold and that women must have fire for blood he muses. He turns back to the house and begins to make his walk up the sandy trail. Once there he sees that Naia's family has already left probably for the docks. He recalls Naia's brother-in-law mentioning they would be taking whale oil and whale meat to the market and to the docks to sell. Their wagon was gone as were the horses. The boats were still on the sand up bu the grassing hills so that must be it.

Inside Narcisso was scrounging around for food and drink. Morning!
He looks around as he realizes he is hungry as well.

Soros looks at D'ogryn for a moment. "I am glad I could help. If there are any items you have I can sense if they are magical and I might be able to pinpoint what type of magic was used. If you need me too. "

He stands up and finishes putting his stuff away and grabs an old hooded cloak. "I will walk with you if you like to the barracks."

The sailor turned assassin turns to run and Antas is having none of it feeling the healing powers course through him he tightens his grip and snaps the lucern hammer bringing his hips around followed by his shoulders and arms. The loud short crack of the head hitting the man's head turns into the sound of a watermelon exploding into smaller pieces as the head of the hammer hits the nearby stone wall with sparks. The man's torso and what is left of his head falls oddly to the ground with his feet and hands jerking as his nervous system fights the body as it dies.

Sailor 1 is DEAD

Sailor 2

The man sees the warrior kill the second of his group and he takes a few steps back into the shadows and decides it is best he leaves. He turns and runs away not wanting any more of this man or his friends.

Sailor 2 flees south down the road with no interest in fighting.

Though washed, Naia feels strung out and washed up. Everything hurts. And the deep gnawing dread of what is to come is like a dull threnody in her hungover mind. She crams bread, oil and fish into her mouth in an attempt to soak up the liquor in her system, and collapses onto the bench by the outside fire, staring morosely at her leathers.

Cutpurse 3

This man doesn't appear ready to surrender and steps up and attacks Peran hoping to at least kill one of you!

shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 1 = 14

The blade slashes across Peran's back as he attempts to dodge it. Leaving a long slash from his right shoulder blade down to his left hip. The bite of the blade burns and Peran can feel the warm blood spilling from the wound.

Peran is now Wounded (-3 ATK/AC/Sav/Skill/Abil/Caster Level) HP11/4)

Much as Ferona would like to take one of these murderers prisoner here, the sudden violence that permeates the air...or maybe it was the smell of blood here, permeating the sea air...the coppery smell of blood told her this one was a fanatical man.

Why murder us now...Would a blade in the back whilst asleep be less risky? She thinks to herself as she dips into a reservoir of arcane energy, one she is loath to tap, yet she simply had no choice here. Pointing a finger at the cutpurse who slashed Peran a silery bolt of eldritch energy strikes the man!

Use Force Strike (Su) expending one point of Arcane energy from her Reservoir. Automatically hits Cutpurse 3 for Force damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Edan

The Touv looks around to each of you as you eat a breakfast of seasoned and oil and seasoned fish and potatoes. He grabs a bite to eat and takes a long drink of freshwater. He wipes his face and looks around at his companions.

"Naia let me look at your wound girl. I would like to make sure it is healing properly and if need be tend to it. Once I get done with you I would like to look at the rest of you."

Edan will look over Naia, Rabalar, Narciso and if he sees that they are still injured will cast CURE MINOR WOUNDS once he gently inspects the wounds. This will give each of you 1hp. Naia rubs her thigh absent-mindedly as Edan mentions her wound. She remembers seeing the bolt-shaft bloom from her leg, and the deep red of her blood as it pulsed out slowly over her leathers. She swallows the thought and reaches for more bread.

”Sure” she stammers a little greenly. ”Then I’m a clean my armor. I guess. Anyone know how that’s done?” she asks no-one in particular. ”I want to see Thout today. And check on the prisoners.” she continues conversationally, pouring herself a little mint tea. ”Mint tea?” she raises the pot by way of offer.

There is the leather armor that has some enchantment on it...I just cleaned the it last night. It still needs time for the oil to settled in. Maybe layer today you could take a look at it?

I would like that.

As they walk D'ogryn keeps his attention visibly towards Soros. His eyes keep looking around at those that may be watching them as they walk. He tries to take mental notes on whose eyes remain fixed on them too long.

Narciso perks up when he hears Naia mention cleaning her armor. "Cleaning? I can do any cleaning that is needed. I use a simple wizard's tool for anything like that." He hums a little and speaks a word. "The spell is called prestidigitation. Certainly a pretentious name, but it's the workhorse of apprentice magi. Actually the spell is quite weak, incapable of harming anything or creating anything very useful. But its versatility makes it truly one of the most useful spells. Like I said, it can clean things. It can adjust the color of a thing." He runs his fingers through his hair, making a visible purple streak in it, then again removing the color. "It can chill or warm things, and add a little flavor if needed. If something is possibly dangerous to touch, but light weight, the spell can even lift it without risking touching it."

Finally registering that D'ogryn had already cleaned the armor.... "But if that's already done, maybe next time. Is there enough tea so I can have a cup?"

One of my favorite posts on the subject of Prestidigitation :)

The arcane force energy springs from the women's hands as she directs it at the man. He attempts to dodge the eldritch energy but it seems to redirect itself right at him. The pale green and white energy bursts into the man's chest and he screams from the pain of it. His face, a mix of surprise, anger, and yes a bit of fear. That bravado seems to have vanished with Ferona's display of power!

The flash of the arcane force slamming into the man's chest takes both you and the cutthroat by surprise. Your swing goes high as the man tries to dodge the bolt of energy only to see it veer into him. By luck, he seems to have avoided your deadly swing!
