Gentlemen...BEHOLD!!! A Discussion thread!

One thing for sure we need to do is have one of the Rogues per party.

RETIRED Human Nomad 7; HP 42/55

yes. when i was looking at my character in comparison to the others (i was worried that my to-hit was too low) i noticed we had a decent amount of caster-types with similar to-hits (made me feel not so bad). i think i only noticed two that had +10 or so to hit, so those guys should probably be divided up per party as well.

Male Human Oracle 5 Souleater 3 | AC:19 FF: 13 Touch: 16 | Saves: Fort: +4 Ref: +6 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 | Sense Motive +7 | Init: +3 | HP: 36/52 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 18

Gerold smiled to himself as he sat down on a barstool. There was nothing quite like getting to relax after a hard days work.

Course, I just made others do the hard work instead. Ha!

Gerold looked around hoping to see where his next paycheck could come from. He didn't need the money, but every penny saved was a penny spent on furthering his goals. He looked nice in his clerical outfit. It was nice, pretty, and white. If his equally white, pretty, and feathery armor covered up his deity's symbol could anybody blame him? With all of the problems that had been going on in his life Gerold needed some time to rest and relax. Gerold gives the bartender his best smile.

"Hey friend mind pouring a working man an ale? It would be mighty nice of you to do that for me."

Gerold keeps his smile as he thinks about hunting down that man who cursed him.

I'm going to make him wish he had never been born. He will pay for my curse.

As Gerold waits for the barkeep he flashes his winning smile to everybody else in the tavern.

Oh, thought we were introducing characters here. Well I'm keeping this intro. Also, do we have another healer?

I can self heal but that is about it... My main role in this is throwing all the bombs or using the Legend of Zelda Bomb Arrow.

Breton Thaumaturge 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11, T: 11, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | Init: +1, Perception: +0 | SP: 5/5 | Speed: 30ft

I can punch... that felt adequate up til now.

Male Gnome Grenaider Alchemist 7 | AC:16 FF: 14 Touch: 15 | Saves: Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +2 | Perception: +12 | Init: +2 | HP: 38/38 | CMB: 3 | CMD: 15

Well if it makes you feel any better you have better saves, AC and more health than I do... If I use my Dex Mutagen I can reach +10 to hit with my Longbow (if the target is within 30ft.) but then my Will Save drops to -1...

Breton Thaumaturge 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11, T: 11, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | Init: +1, Perception: +0 | SP: 5/5 | Speed: 30ft

I just hope we're not always pitted against rifleman or something. I need to punch!

How much does a potion of CMW cost?

Breton Thaumaturge 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11, T: 11, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | Init: +1, Perception: +0 | SP: 5/5 | Speed: 30ft

2nd level are 300gp

I could afford it, but would only be left with 1 GP. I think I will just keep the money (need to keep up appearances and all that).

EDIT: So what exactly do we all have? I see a rogue, psion, alchemist, fighter/monk, and I'm an oracle. What were the other people's classes?

Female Elf Rogue 5/Shadow Dancer 2 | AC:21 FF: 21 Touch: 14 | Saves: Fort: +3 Ref: +8 Will: +3| Perception: +12 | Init: +3 | HP: 50/50 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 19

I have a decent UMD and a wand of CL wounds if need be. I am more of a dagger tossing character than up front but will have to be if I run out of daggers and arrows.

Discoveries: Explosive Bomb, Explosive Missile, Precise Bomb (given as a replacement ability from the archetype.)

RETIRED Human Nomad 7; HP 42/55

Im setting myself up as a high mobility crossbowman. Basically shoot, noe im over here, shoot, now im over there, shoot. the powers I selected were mostly self buffs, with some utility and I think one attack power.

Male Human Oracle 5 Souleater 3 | AC:19 FF: 13 Touch: 16 | Saves: Fort: +4 Ref: +6 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 | Sense Motive +7 | Init: +3 | HP: 36/52 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 18

Should I lose my +1 amulet of natural armor, so that I could by a +1 weapon, or no? It is only 2000 GP for either, so is a +1 to armor, or +1 to hit and damage better?

Breton Thaumaturge 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11, T: 11, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | Init: +1, Perception: +0 | SP: 5/5 | Speed: 30ft

Are you sure about your weapon choice? If so, I'd go weapon.
Besides that, isn't ring of protection better than amulet of natural armor?

Male Human Oracle 5 Souleater 3 | AC:19 FF: 13 Touch: 16 | Saves: Fort: +4 Ref: +6 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 | Sense Motive +7 | Init: +3 | HP: 36/52 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 18

It would be but I have shield of faith which is also a deflection bonus.

Well Floid looks like we are split up, because that is the same thing that I have to do until I can get Fast Bombs... But when I do get Fast Bombs I can have 4 go off at level 8 and 5 at level 13 (TWF, Rapid Shot and ITWF)

I have a ranged character built at the moment, but I can switch him to a front liner without much difficulty if I need to. It seems we already have a surfeit of ranged.

Well combat in Pathfinder works like this.

As for what you do, I have looked over your character sheet and it looks like you are doing the "Switch Hitter" Ranger so your tactics should be something akin to attacking with your Bow when the creatures are at 35+ft. then Charge at them when they enter the 30ft. and closer range. Have your Animal Companion attack whenever possible and set up flanking possibilities (this can be done by having your Animal Companion set up behind an enemy) also don't forget that your Wolf can Trip people which can be a very good thing as they have to spend a move action getting up which provokes an Attack Of Opportunity (you can read about them in the same link), which is a very good thing for everyone near the target.

male human monk2/fighter 5 AC 18 FF 15 T 13; Fort +10, Ref +9, Will +5; Perception +11; Init +7; HP 65/65; CMB +10; CMD 24

OK, I've fiddled around, if I switch to melee I would have to pretty much discard the build and start with something else. I can do it pretty quickly, but it wouldn't be even vaguely the same character. The Kirin strike gimmick just won't fly for a heavy melee guy. Too much cost for too little return in the instance.

However I certainly could build a two hander or sword and board front liner in minimal time if it came down to it.

Breton Thaumaturge 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11, T: 11, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | Init: +1, Perception: +0 | SP: 5/5 | Speed: 30ft

Quinn, you seem to be the other main front-liner aside from me. So I would say we'd fit in opposite parties.

In fact, not to pre-empt Nameless, but this is probably the composition I'd do if it were up to me:

Team 1
Anhur - heavy melee, heavy armor
Floid - heavy magic, decent ranged, mobility
Yuri - heavy ranged, medium armor
Sindra - heavy rogue, heals

Team 2
Quinn - heavy melee, medium armor
Smokey - heavy ranged, light magic, mobility
Gerold - medium magic, medium armor, heals
Chef - heavy rogue, medium armor

That seems to balance things like magic, armor, skills, ranged, heals, rogue, etc.
Is that everyone?

We have 9. Where is Doran our sorcerer?

Ah, Doran. I thought someone had said we had 8.
Hm. Now my whole balance is off. I don't think I can balance different sized parties.

Male Human Oracle 5 Souleater 3 | AC:19 FF: 13 Touch: 16 | Saves: Fort: +4 Ref: +6 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 | Sense Motive +7 | Init: +3 | HP: 36/52 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 18

IMO, Smokey would be switched with Floid because Smokey can heal himself (Floid cannot unless I read something wrong) taking some of the burden off of Sindra. She only has a wand, so that will run out of charges eventually, with Smokey there would be one person less for healing as he could do it himself. With Doran on that team 1 magic would still balance out as Doran would be the heavy magic.

EDIT: When they said 8 they may have been saying 8 joined from the thread. We had one person who was already in the group/running Sindra.

Male Gnome Grenaider Alchemist 7 | AC:16 FF: 14 Touch: 15 | Saves: Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +2 | Perception: +12 | Init: +2 | HP: 38/38 | CMB: 3 | CMD: 15

Yay I get to be with Natsu... err I mean Doran awesome!! Must Use All The Fire!! Must Kill Everything With Fire!!

Breton Thaumaturge 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11, T: 11, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | Init: +1, Perception: +0 | SP: 5/5 | Speed: 30ft

That would work, but would you guys not need a 5th?

RETIRED Human Nomad 7; HP 42/55

I have the ability to heal myself, but it costs 5 power points (equivalent to a 3rd level spell) and only heals 2d12 (no caster level bonus). Psionic healing is much weaker than divine healing, to be sure.

Using that power consumes a considerable portion of my energies and I took it primarily for emergencies only, so for all intents and purposes i would consider myself on par with a character that has a couple of potions in terms of healing.

Sorry would you like Bigger Bombs+Bomb Arrows or me to be able to give others Cure Light/Moderate Wounds?

Isn't there a Discovery that allows me to shove a bomb into someone's body or is that an Archetype that I'm missing out on.

M Humanborn

i seem to remember one called "Implant Bomb" or something.

EDIT: it's a feat

Not worth it if I can't use it in combat... Thanks for finding it though and if I were making an Evil character than I might think of getting it.

Takes an hour to pull off... Not really combat friendly (although that was what I was thinking of doing).

EDIT: Oh you mean knockout someone, bring them to an operating table return them to where we knocked them out and have them go along their normal lives back to their friends then 24 hours later the bomb goes off and where ever that person is now has guts and burn marks 10ft. away from the body... Lets hope that they stay near their friends for that to work.

Did we just get a 10th person?

EDIT: Not sure on teams now. If I could ask. What are the AC, HP, and Main Attack bonus of each of the Heavy melees. Same for the Heavy Ranged?

I would actually put Floid and Smokey on Team 1 because they can heal themselves, and Doran and Gerold on Team 2. Not sure on the Heavy Ranged/Melee, but I'm sure that the rogues are where they should be.

Male Human Sorcerer

A pink-haired young man with a red dragonscale headband around his forehead enters the room, munching happily on an apple. He raises his hand and waves cheerfully to you all. "HGh! Ag-" He swallows an enormous piece of apple, gags for a moment and then grins at you all. "Heya! I'm Doran; are you fellows all here to burn that Handsome Sorcerer bastard to cinders?"

Doran's a blasting sorcerer, not too fussed about what team he ends up on.

Male Human Oracle 5 Souleater 3 | AC:19 FF: 13 Touch: 16 | Saves: Fort: +4 Ref: +6 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 | Sense Motive +7 | Init: +3 | HP: 36/52 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 18

Gerold smiles at the flashiest person who has entered the room.

"Hello, Doran. I'm here to put an end to that 'Handsome' Sorcerer, but I wouldn't be able to burn him. I don't have that sort of ability. My name is Gerold, and it is nice to meet you. Ale?"

With his question Gerold takes a nearby ale and offers it to Doran.

A Gnome with long hair standing on end that looks White on top and Red closer to the base, wearing Smoked Goggles on his forehead, walks in with a finger in his ear.

"Did I just hear someone saying something about burning somebody? I can help though he might be a bit more than just burned, do you mind if he goes boom?"

Chef continues fussing over his stove.

I guess this will have to do. *Sigh* It has gotten so difficult to buy good ingrediants due to that Sorcerer's bandits.

Suggestion on the discoveries is that you might want to lose 2 of the bomb discoveries to get extend potion, and its amazing brother eternal potion. With it you could have any spell of 3rd level or lower that doesn't have an instantaneous duration last forever (permanent haste anyone?).

Male Gnome Grenaider Alchemist 7 | AC:16 FF: 14 Touch: 15 | Saves: Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +2 | Perception: +12 | Init: +2 | HP: 38/38 | CMB: 3 | CMD: 15

That would be nice if I had Brew Potion but I don't because of my Archetype.

Male Human Oracle 5 Souleater 3 | AC:19 FF: 13 Touch: 16 | Saves: Fort: +4 Ref: +6 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 | Sense Motive +7 | Init: +3 | HP: 36/52 | CMB: 5 | CMD: 18

750 GP for a permanent +1 to AC, Reflex, 30 extra movement, and +1 attack whenever you take a full round of attacking is worth it.

yeah, and i imagine it would be rather demoralizing to have someone just blow up in their sleep in the next room, even if you dont get guts or burns on you. especially if it kept happening.

i'd say pretend i cant heal. if i have to actually heal myself, i wont have much energy left for buffs or attacks. i only picture Floid healing himself if the rest of the team died and he escaped with grievous wounds and had to care for himself in a cave for a few days.
