Irakelesh |
"I've got some skill at it." Irakelesh moves up to the gate. He digs around in his backpack and finds a leather pouch all the way at the bottom of the bag. He flips open the pouch and extracts a few small tools. "I don't use these much but they do come in handy at times." He kneels in front of the lock and begins to try to open it.

Irakelesh moves up and tries to unlock the gate but doesn't have any luck initially.
You can take 20, which just takes a good amount of time but will eventually get them unlocked or you can keep trying to roll, which is quicker for each attempt but may inevitably take just as long. Which do you prefer? DC20 to unlock.
GM Dak |
After Irakelesh first attempt he realizes the lock won't be so easy to disable. He sets down his tools and carefully studies the lock for some time before picking up what he needs and slowly moving the pins of the lock into place. Eventually he manages to pop the lock, allowing the gate to be opened.
GM Dak |
Aliva pushes the gates open and moves into the room. At first nothing happens but when she moves another 5 ft in the rune-carved clay statue of Nethys across the way shambles to life, taking on a more lifelike appearance and moves to attack.

G'nock |
"Is it friendly?", G'nock quips.
He wonders silently if he will *ever* have brought the proper tools for these small quests.
"So, who was in charge of bringing the holy symbols of Nethys? Anyone?"
Then, seeing that the fight is joined, he hazards a couple of arrows at the thing.

He backs up 10 feet so that the others can get back behind the gate of bronze bars if they heed his advice.

Ai'sha moves up covering the floor in grease under the living statue, but it has no problem keeping its balance. Aliva moves up to engage it, trying to smash it with her mace, but misses as the thing avoids the attack. Khufu lobs some conjured acid at it while entreating the others to fall back, the acid goes wide and misses it. G'nock launches two arrows at the thing, while the first one hits it barely leaves a scratch.

Haji slams the living statue with a solid blow, nearly knocking a big chunk out, but the statue moves at the last minute avoiding the worst of it. Even then, Haji notices the damage done was not the same as the amount of effort he put into his swing. Irakalesh joins the others to attack but can't find an opening to hit it.
Suddenly, behind the group the gate slams shut and you hear the lock re-engage, trapping two thirds of the party in the room and the other third outside of it.

Ai'sha slices into the living statue and does some damage. If it had been anything else it would have been more substantial but the statues natural defenses lessened the extent of the damage. Aliva tries to attak as well but misses as the statue moves out of the way. Khufu, behing the closed gate tosses more acid at the thing, but with the bars hampering his aim he misses. G'nock fires off some more arrows from behind the bars as well.

Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
It smacks him with its weapon only doing a bit of damage. Remembering some of the work her did before to unlock the lock he promptly pops the lock again, making it so the gates can be opened once again. Knowing the gates automatically closed the last time he looks and sees their is a mechanism that re-closes and locks the door after a few seconds of it being opened, so he will need to either time the opening right or have someone hold the gate opened, or he could try and disable the mechanism but it looks a little complicated. Irakelesh |
"Guys, get in here. The gate's going to close again soon. I can unlock it after we defeat the guardian. I can probably even disable the mechanism that closes it, but for now, just get in here." Irakelesh races to Ai'sha's fallen form. He remembers that she has a healing wand and normally she keeps it in her bag. He searches through it rapidly.
Move action to get back to Ai'sha and then standard action to search her bag for the CLW wand. Do I need to do anything special to find it?

After unlocking and opening the gate again Irakelesh moves over to Ai'sha and rummages through her bag to find the wand she had been using to cure their wounds. Haji heals himself with the touch of his hand, but between that and the continued pain from the injury his next attack is off and he misses.
Ai'sha continues bleeding out on the ground as the pool of blood starts to spread and get on Irakelesh's shoes. Aliva manages to strike the statue this time, drawing its attention to her. Khufu moves into the room and without the bars in his way finally manages to hit it with some acid that burns into the statue with ease. G'nock runs into the room drawing his morningstar to come and help his allies.
