Raising a hand and with his eyes going big, "Wait a minute! I do hear a voice. I must've just ignored it like I do T sometimes." Looking over at the old woman, "So this is not your body, huh? My guess is, you need us to go get yours? Or possibly take you to yours? Wait, you're old. We can't just take you with us. You'll slow us down. Unless you want to ride along in one of our bodies like a horse and carriage." He laughs at that. "I'm kidding. Only kidding. That's funny. A 'horse and carriage'. Good one, Lothan." He smiles, quite proud of himself. Noticing the glares from the others, "You know, if you all keep making those faces at me, they're going to get stuck like that. Just sayin'."

Sighing and shaking his head, he turns his attention back to the old lady and says, "Okay, you can come with us if you want to. Just don't die on us, okay? You're kind of old and decrepit so this might be a tough road for you. But don't worry, you're in safe hands. We've got you covered."

I know you because you have been touched by the ... taint ... that affects the city. But you have freed yourself from Lowls' influence, and you may be this world's only hope!

He'll press on to free more slaves and bring righteous fury to those who imprisoned them. He looks for a staircase up.

We must go to Neruzavin and stop Lowls and the doom he brings. she replies to Tristain.

Deciding to bring her with you -- she only slows you a little as you try to keep a wary eye on your surroundings -- you move on to the other side of the first floor of the tower.

Beyond where you fought previously, the room has a powerful musky smell, which seems to emanate from two shrouded cages in the room. Hanging nearby is an old leather sack that contains six blindfolds and a riding crop. Near these are six sets of leather equine blinkers that completely obscure vision.

A large, gently sloping ramp rises upwards in a spiral.

No, not by boat. We will have to go into the desert known as the Parchlands in Casmaron. It will be an arduous journey in the best of circumstances, and we will likely need to find mounts, get supplies and if we can, a guide.

So many questions. I can hardly keep up with them all. Casmaron is the continent to the east of Avistan (and technically Garund, though they're divided by the ocean), Kaklatath replies, apparently telepathically picking up Tristain's thoughts. And, that is my hope. If Lowls came here for support, perhaps Biting Lash may know more.

This curved chamber hosts a large, well-ordered barracks containing dozens of wooden-framed cots with a small crate under each. There's easily room for 30 gnolls here, but it's fortunately empty at the moment. There is a veritable armory of simple and martial weapons stored here, as well as a dozen spare suits of leather armor and a like number of large wooden shields. The crates beneath the cots hold personal items of little value.

Going to push you on.
As you move around the corner, however, you realize that you are not quite as alone as you might have hoped! A half-dozen gnolls await with falchions and javelins! But you're anticipation of a threat around every corner trumps their readiness, as you get the jump on them!

Tristain starts the fight off with a spell, which seems to take each of the gnolls back for a moment. Before they can decide what to do, though, the rest of the party is on them, blades flashing and arrows flying. Unfortunately, it soon becomes clear that these gnolls are far better combatants than the ones below.

They let out screams of rage, seeming to grow even larger in their fury, and strike back. Three of them close in on Lothan, Starflit and Tristain, while the other three circle Kyffin and Al. Their blades prove both deadly and sharp, inflicting some grievous blows. 14 hp to Kyffin, 17 to Al, 29 to Starflit, 13 to Tristain

Lothan shouts out a quick suggestion to Tristain, helping his spell be far more successful as he remembers to actually aim it, clearing himself some breathing room as it goes flying backward.

Needing no helpful reminders, Kyffin, Al and Starflit lay about them with their blades, while Lothan focuses his fire on a single gnoll this time. Still, these foes again prove they're far tougher than almost anything you've fought before -- clearly showing why Biting Lash may have been feared -- and none of them fall before the onslaught. They continue their assault, two of them focusing on Kyffin this time, and Tristain's foe turning his rebound off the stone wall into the start of a charge! 11 to Kyffin, 14 to Al, 29 to Starflit, 17 to Tristain Again, they barely seem to notice the damage inflicted by Tristain's continuing spell -- it seems to be merely a part of the airing of their grievances and feats of strength.

Kyffin and Lothan manage to take down their two foes, letting them turn their attention to the other gnolls as Al struggles to protect his friends and himself. In a moment, another is down. The final three keep their feet against Tristain's magic and Starflit's spell and starknife and continue to launch tier own furious attacks -- one of them turning his attention from the inquisitor to the deadly archer. 15 hp to Al, 16 to Lothan, and 37 to Tristain!

They grimace as Tristain's spell inflicts its toll, but their pain is only momentary as seconds later, you're able to put them all down. I think the last round was probably a foregone conclusion, so I'm going to conclude it.

A weary and battered Starflit tries not to bleed all over Tristan as the head-bonking hero adds 'wand-hogging' to his resume. When Kyffin offers another viable option, the inquisitor gratefully accepts it. When she's still beat-up after that bit of healing, she resumes waiting on Tristain to finish up with the wand. (With great effort, she refrains from tapping her foot.)

10 hps healed from 2 rounds of her own fast healing 5; 30 healed from 10 rounds of Kyffin's fast healing 3. That still leaves her down 25 hps.
