DM Mothman |
Sorry about the delay, the Paizo site was really screwy the first half of the week and I’ve been occupied by other things since then. Tinkergoth, did you have a chance to catch up?
Marc presses himself against the wall of the building, attempting to push the door open with his long hammer. There is some slight resistance, then he hears a high pitched yelp and the resistance is suddenly gone, the door swings inwards. Looking into the building beyond, Marc gets the impression of a cluttered space and several small, grey skinned humanoids. A chorus of shrieks erupts as the humanoids spy Marc. They begin jumping up and down in agitation (except the one that just runs around in circles, shrieking), shaking badly made weapons.
Everyone roll for initiative! (Marc got 7)
Brashen Trell |
Xargin casts around for a better vantage point, not wanting to crowd the walkway around the door anymore. He moves to a nearby ladder, unslinging his bow as he moves, and finds a good view of the target.
Move to D13 and fire bow at the goblin in the doorway.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
DM Mothman |
Xargin’s arrow skids off the startled goblin’s patchwork armour.
The goblin strikes around the edge of the doorway at Marc with a sword that looks like it’s made from some rusty, broken pieces of metal crudely cobbled together.
G3 attack vs Marc: 1d20 ⇒ 9 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
The blow is rushed and panicked and does little except cut splinters out of the door-frame.
DM Mothman |
The goblin standing behind the one in the doorway picks up a foot-long wooden and a candle, waves the candle near the base of the tube, then points it past his compatriot, towards Marc. There is a bang and a flash and a projectile erupts from the tube in a shower of sparks, spiralling vaguely in Marc’s direction.
G4 ranged touch attack vs Marc: 1d20 - 7 ⇒ (7) - 7 = 0 If it hits Marc’s touch AC he takes 1 point of non-lethal damage and 1 point of fire damage.
Another last goblin rummages about in the junk strewn about the room in a panic before finding what she was looking for – a crudely made weapon consisting of a cleaver blade lashed to a long stick.
Grendel Green |
Not having much of a view of the action, Grendel decides to try and draw the other goblins out into the open. He flings a sling stone at the door he heard movement from, before crouching back down on top of the tower.
Attack door: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Assume the damage isn't needed, but included just in case
Marc d'Laurac |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Moth, Marc is trying to determine from what he sees whether these goblins are really a threat or if they are the old/weak hiding from a greater threat, as the party suspects.
Marc starts to try and duck to avoid being hit by the fireworks, but soon see's it shoot off in a completely random direction. He shakes his head at the risk of using such an imprecise weapon in combat.
Abandoning his lucerne hammer given the tight space, Marc draws his longsword and strikes at the goblin with the sword.
Longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Marc 5ft steps to J13 if he can
DM Mothman |
In the heat of battle, Marc can’t tell much about either the mental or physical state of these goblins, except that they seem a bit manic (but maybe that’s normal) and they seem able-bodied enough as far as he can tell. The cavalier slashes downwards at the goblin in front of him, his sharp blade shearing through the small humanoid’s shoulder, leaving its arm to dangle uselessly as a gout of blood sprays out into the room. The goblin looks down at its near severed arm in shock, sways, but does not fall. The goblin behind snorts, perhaps in fear, perhaps in amusement. (g3 is [badly] wounded).
DM Mothman |
Moving on behalf of Tannithil
Tannithil looks for a way up onto the walkway from his position.
Will try and climb up, draw his weapons and move to J12
J12 is occupied by a goblin. Tannithil can get to I12 if he uses the ladder at H16 but he may cop attacks of opportunity from the goblins through the doorway as he runs past. Or he can go the long way via the ladder at M8 and make it to about J9. With a DC 15 climb check he can pull himself up to the walkway at any point.

Sorry - I meant I12, not J. Slight change of action:
Seeing the chance at regaining his honour and avenging his mistress, Tannithil seeks the quickest way up towards the goblins. Seeing no ladder nearby, he decides to climb up to the low walkway, using the building wall behind him for extra leverage. Once up, he draws his weapons and hurries over towards the doorway.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Attempts to climb up to the walkway at G9, then moves over to I12 if he can make it
Yumiko Kita |
Yumiko shimmies up the nearby ladder to the walkway above (ending up at H17).
DM Mothman |
The goblin at the far end of the room (who seems to have a cowbell worn around his neck and what looks like a stuffed raven sewn to his shoulder) picks up the caged spider beside him, opens a low door located behind him in the north wall, and sneaks out. The spider continues to scuttle about in its cage (delays).
DM Mothman |
The door that Grendel slung a stone against creaks partway open* and a goblin with a particularly round head and wearing what appears to be a Shelynite wedding veil squints out. Still half behind the door, so has cover against ranged attacks.
*Grendel automatically notices this, the other PCs can make a perception check to notice; DC is 7 for Yumiko, 9 for Haelynn and Marc and 10 for Tannithil; Xargin is not in a position to notice this.
Yumiko Kita |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 (to see veil goblin)
On my turn:
"To death do us's part..."
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 4 = 9
Xargin Kaijitsu |
Xargin calls to his allies...
"For our friends and our sister, for whatever gods you hold dear, fight! These foul creatures shall play the blood price for harming our kith and kin!"
He begins to sing a martial tune to inspire his allies in their struggle as he watches to see where his arrows may be best placed...
Starting an Inspire Courage bardic performance, using audible components. Everyone gets +1 to their attack and damage rolls. No range limit so long as my allies can hear me, which I believe shouldn't be a problem, but let me know if there's an issue Moth. No movement, he'll stay where he is and see where he's needed next turn when he can make an attack while maintaining the song.
Warfare, pain and murder,
In Golgatha we stand
For the last rite of the heavens
The seventh sacrament
Born of blood and fire,
And blessed by midnight's hand,
In the core of the pyre,
No sorrow we repent
And we ride by the storm,
In the night we're reborn,
And we carry our hearts to the dome,
To the gods we are sworn,
In the dark we transform,
And we die by the dawn all alone
In the night we can't rest,
In the dark we are blessed,
And in moonlight we fight for our honour,
We are brave to the heart,
Blood and fire we part,
And forever we pray for we are,
Blessed and possessed...
We share your desire for revenge and justice, lord of ours, but do not let it consume you completely... You must have caution, lest you fall in your careless rush for satisfaction...
[b]Wise counsel. Never fear, I have not yet lost control. Our allies will help us carry this day, and I know that I server our shared cause best away from the thick of the combat. But I will claim my share of the blood price from these vermin!
We would expect nothing less, dear one. May the battle be in your favour, and our Maiden of Haze and Whimsy smile upon your countenance...
DM Mothman |
The goblin with the near-severed arm runs out the doorway, screaming and tries to jump off the walkway. Marc and Tannithil can both take an AoO against Goblin 3 as it runs past.
The goblin holding the sparking tube continues to point it at Marc as another flaming projectile spews forth from it.
ranged touch attack vs Marc: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (9) - 5 = 4 If that hits his touch AC he takes 1 point of non-lethal damage and 1 point of fire damage.
The goblin wielding the make-shift polearm steps forward and attacks Tannithil. attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2 damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3
DM Mothman |
More goblins pop through the doorway opposite Grendel’s position; the first one holds another long, sparking tube, which it points at Yumiko. There is a bang and a flash and the projectile it fires spirals towards Yumiko.
ranged touch attack vs Yumiko: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (13) - 3 = 10 If that hits her touch AC she takes 1 point of non-lethal damage and 1 point of fire damage.
The next goblin gives a slight yelp, thrusts the dogslicer he holds between his teeth, then starts trying to climb the wall of the tower that Grendel crouches atop. Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Failing to make any progress, he gives up, pushes past his companion and approaches Yumiko.
Grendel Green |
Grendel pops up over the lip of the tower and lets loose with a stone, aiming at the goblin below. He will go for goblin 1 unless he is getting a cover bonus, in which case he will go for goblin 2
Sneak Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d3 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (6) = 9
Marc d'Laurac |
Seeing Haelynn's spear sweep past him and knowing that it was only his hindrance that caused her to miss, Marc glances over his shoulder. Beyond her, he sees the goblins spilling from the other doorways and threatening Yumiko.
'We're OK here; help your sister Haelynn!' he instructs, before lifting his voice to be heard by the whole party. 'Everyone pair up where you can and work together!'
Uses Tactician ability, granting everyone the Paired Opportunist teamwork feat. It gives +4 circumstance bonus on Attacks of Opportunity made when the target is threatened by another with the feat.
He turns back to the goblins in the doorway and raises his sword and readies his shield.
Standard action to activiate the feat, move action to ready his shield?
Yumiko Kita |
Yumiko changes targets to the goblin with the sparking tube. Her attack roll is actually 5 better = 14 (no cover and bless / inspire courage)
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
DM Mothman |
There is a loud ~BANG~ as Yumiko fires her weapon at point blank range at the goblin in front of her. It squeals in mixed delight and fear at the noise, then seems to realise it is now missing half it’s face. It puts its hand up to the side of its head and looks at Yumiko accusingly as its hand comes away bloody.
