Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

Hold on fellows. How much do we know about these kobolds? They seem very disinterested in answering my questions. Tell me sir, what do you know of their dragon? And have you seen and any other adventurers pass by here? We are looking for them. Perhaps we can strike a deal if you are willing. We have no interest in your war, we just want out friends back.

DungeonMaster

Well, you help us or you die, we take your treasure, or you can split the treasure of the kobolds that you kill for us. Adventures, not that we have seen, but me I rarely leave this room. Their dragon is the goblins enemy.

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

isn't this the only way down and through the dungeon. Would he have had to have seen them? Should I check if he is lieing?

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

Why do the goblins hate the dragon so much? Couldn't they just leave and end this war?

Check about his possible lie.
insight: 1d20 ⇒ 18

DungeonMaster

This is the only way down, and he did say he rarely leaves this room, but he didn't say never, but he doubts it is possible someone slipped past him while he in another room from only a few minutes. Down here the rooms do eventually split off in multiple directions. It is possible he was in say room A where it does split into multiple directions while they went to room B. Or that the heroes never made it this far into the dungeon and were kidnapped and taken to another dungeon, many possibilities exist FYI.

He is not lying as far as Zakan can tell, he has not seen them.
We goblins hate the dragon so much, cause it serves the kobolds, and we hate the kobolds

Human Monk 4 Max HP: 27 | AC: 17 | Saves: Str: +2; Dex: +6; Con: +1; Int: 0; Wis: +5; Cha: 0 | Initiative: +4

Three will secure whatever healing potions people don't want to carry and stash them in his belt. What is the Hobgoblin armed with?

Inactive

Can I roll something to learn about the Hellhounds?

DungeonMaster

arcana or religion since they are fiends.

DungeonMaster

Alright, no I assume is the answer for most of you, the bugbear is 25 feet south of you all and the two hell hounds are 25 feet east of you all

DungeonMaster

Hell hounds are fiendish lawful evil creatures that understand infernal, are immune to fire, can breath fire in a 15 foot cone on average every 3 rounds, or bite and can move 50 feet per round. Also they are large sized

Yolanda and Zakan step and put some good damage on the bear. That 14 does miss Zakan bounces off his shield the first time but the 2nd stab finds a weak spot and strikes through.

DungeonMaster

Nileera will step to the hell hounds and swing her sword hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (4) = 8 dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 but misses badly
The hellhound will breath fire on Nileera dmg: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 6, 2, 4) = 23

Then three hits a dog twice for 10 damage.
Elaith, Yolana, Nileera and Zakan are up

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

I'm beginning to doubt those adventurers came down here at all, seeing as no one has seen them. And what a Hassel all this is. Zakan sighs and steps up on a hell hound.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Yolanda took exactly 17 dmg, if I've calculated right. She's down.
So Nileera, Yolanda, Elaith are down and Zakan and Tree are standing.
Right, DM?

Death Save: 1d20 ⇒ 7 1 fail/0 successes

DungeonMaster

yolanda took 9 and 5 for 14 dmg.
Zakan strikes a hellhound once for 5 dmg.

DungeonMaster

The hellhounds disengage and run 50 feet.

one is hurt at 19 dmg

Female dwarf Warpriestess 13 | HP: 146/146 | AC: 26(30) | Init: +5 | Passive Perception 13 | Speed 25 ft |

Sorry...my bad...I thought I posted, but obviously I did not!

Yolanda speaks the sacred words to her spell and a bolt of golden light leaps from her hand to strike at the retreating hound.

Guiding Bolt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 3) = 14

The next attack roll made against this target before the end of your next turn has advantage, thanks to the mystical dim light glittering on the target until then.

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

Do I get an attack of opportunity since I was engaged with them or did they use some sort of withdraw action?

They disengaged. But you have a round to kill the hell hounds before they possibly alert something.

Yolanda does massive damage to a hellhound, but it is hanging on to its breath.

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

Zakan rushes forward in a blur and strikes out at the hell hounds as they flee. He goes to hit one attack on each hound.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Bonus action to dash double my speed from rogue ability

DungeonMaster

by the way, attacking with your offhand item is a bonus action, so that means you would be taking two bonus action which you can't do
Zakan hits one hellhound hard
These hellhound will doublemove from Zakan, even though it knows it will provoke, it doesn't want you catching up to it as it moves 100 feet. obviously, you can chase it down, move, move and shoot, it would gain 40 feet on you each time, but you would be too far ahead of your party. I'm just going to say you down one of the two as they both provoke
One hellhound left Does anyone wish to chase it down and fall into its trap? Or you can go back up stairs to the kobold room and rest short or you can try long, or continue forward without chasing down anything.

Human Monk 4 Max HP: 27 | AC: 17 | Saves: Str: +2; Dex: +6; Con: +1; Int: 0; Wis: +5; Cha: 0 | Initiative: +4

Was I able to stabilize Elaith?

Female dwarf Warpriestess 13 | HP: 146/146 | AC: 26(30) | Init: +5 | Passive Perception 13 | Speed 25 ft |

Yolanda goes to the fallen Elaith and casts a healing spell over the wounded wizard.

Cure Wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

Zakan returns to the rest of the party and helps up his downed comrades.

They're too fast for me, let's regroup and prepare for the coming trials.

Does this mean you are all staying in this room?

The heroes wait 5 minutes, nothing happens, 10 minutes and still nothing entering the room, what do you all do?
At three, a dc 10 heal check is all that is needed to stabilize someone, for future reference

Inactive

Elaith coughs and stands up. "Thanks. Mental note: do not get close to those hounds."

After 10 minutes of waiting. "Nothing. Let's go further, I guess?"

DungeonMaster

After continuing to go forward about another 100 feet or so, you can go right or left. Hellhounds you saw went left.

Male HP:27/27 Ac:16 Half-Elf Rogue(3):Arcane Trickster

Zakan stands still and sniffs the air. If the hounds went left, those to the left may be alerted to our presences. They might fall in behind us and trap us in the hallway. I will take a look ahead.

Zakan heads left to take a look.

"I would agree. I would hate to see that doggie show up when we are in another battle!"

DungeonMaster

Can't believe you guys are itching to fight off the hellhound and fall into its trap, even though you nearly died that fight.
Heroes follow the hellhound to the left to an empty room then round a small 10 foot round hallway. 20 feet in front of the heroes is 4 skeletons with greatswords, formed 2 by 2, and no shirts and behind them is the hellhound.
