Biggs realizes if he keeps detecting evil in this city he is going to go blind. lots of evil, and a bit of magic. The odd weapon or ring here and there, more rings, staves and amulets than you find most places due to the proximity to the Cyphergate.
this is #11 on the map, you can see how big it is
The place is packed, Biggs notices that you can sign up to fight in the far corner, or place bets on the other corner, or just drink view and cheer if you make your way to the stands. They do not see their quarry.
Anežka Tzvana
"Well, if they spent money on the fights here, they'd probably want to see them, right?" - Anežka whispers to Biggs - "When the next fight starts, we could try and look for them in the stands, what do you think?"
Biggs Longshaft
bah! This gods-forsaken town is full of low life's and thugs... This will prove a chalenge he to find our marks.Q
"aye, lass, right you are. But the crowd is large, it will not be easy to find them that way. Perhaps, we could speak with the bookie, or th ticket master? I doubt they will be willing to speak but... I think we can convince them."
Biggs Longshaft
Biggs will approach the bookie with a panicked look on go face, hiding his clerical symbols well before approaching.
"good man, I did it now! Oh man, am I in trouble. The boss lady told me to come here and place some bets, but I can't for te life of me remember go I was supposed to put money on! I imagine she's somewhere in the stands watching the fights. Kinda rough looking lady, only has one eye, has loads of money... D'ya know where I can find her so I can clear this up before the fights go in further and I don't get these bets in?!"
Biggs Longshaft
Bigs will pull up his hood and suggest anezka does the same. They will then make their way to the box seats as directed.
Anežka Tzvana
"That was one fine bluff! Finally we got one of them!" - Anežka whispers to her friend excitedly - "If we follow her, she might lead us straight to their hiding place, and the chest!"
She eagerly follows Biggs, pulling up her hood and trying to be discreet, as he suggested.
Biggs Longshaft
Biggs chuckles to himself. He always was a fan of canoodling, regardless who's doin it.
He opts to keep his distance and watch, then will try and tail them as they leave the stadium. He will prepare to take them on as soon as try are alone.
"lassy, I think we would have a better chance taking just the two if them on. If we follow to their base, we could run into the whole gang, which I doubt we are prepared for... Sure looks likes their enjoying that money they stole. Putas."
MiniGM
1d100 ⇒ 37 you want it to be a high number
As you watch it becomes apparent that they are not doing well.
There are 4 fights left. Do you bet?
1st
A human named Corwyn with a longsword heavy crossbow and metal armor vs Diata a half elf with light armor, a rapier and long bow 3 to 1 on Diata
2nd
A human named Darnwyn with heavy mace, heavy crossbow and metal armor vs human named Rill armored with nunchaka and wearing no armor. 4 to 1 on Rill
3rd
Arjana a barbaric human with a great sword vs half elf named calves with a rapier and short bow 2 to 1 on Ariana
4th
A gnome named Tala with a Rapier and a Halforc named Dorng with a Greataxe 1 to 1 on Dorng
3 to one meaning if you bet 3 gold you would win 4
Anežka Tzvana
"lassy, I think we would have a better chance taking just the two if them on. If we follow to their base, we could run into the whole gang, which I doubt we are prepared for... Sure looks likes their enjoying that money they stole. Putas."
"Oh! I hadn't thought of that..." - Anežka exclaims, a bit embarrassed - "You're right, better to get them when they're alone."
After a few moments, Anežka bends down again to whisper to Biggs - "Well, since we have to wait for the fights to finish... Maybe we could bet on the them too? We could make some money!" Anežka's eyes almost sparkle at the thought.
Give me 2gp on Diata, 4gp on Rill, 1gp on Calves and 1gp on Tala! What? What do you mean 'gambling problem'? Never heard of such a thing! ;p
MiniGM
The first fight is over almost as soon as it began. Diata quickly sends two arrows which land in each eye of the fighter.
The second fight is slightly more interesting, in that Rill toys with her opponent for a bit before disarming him and bludgeoning him to death
The third fight is another fast one, a few arrows are launched before the barbarian slices both her foes bow and her foe in two
The last fight is the most interesting as the gnome casts a spell that is shaken off, then runs around for a bit, but finally a spell takes and her foe falls down asleep and is summarily executed.
The day ends. If you want to follow the two I need stealth checks, if you have another idea just tell me what it is and make what you think is an appropriate skill roll
Biggs Longshaft
As the crowd begins to exit the arena, Biggs will notion for Anezka to carefully follow the two through the crowd.
stealth: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (2) - 5 = -3
so Biggs has a -5 acp due to armor, but I feel like dice we are in a crowd the sound of armor and people moving shouldn't be too surprising to the thieves?
Anežka Tzvana
After watching the fights, and swiftly collecting her winnings, Anežka follows Biggs directions and stealthily starts tailing the thieves.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
I'd say, If Anežka and Biggs manage to follow the two thieves unnoticed till they are some place relatively out of sight (a back alley, an empty passageway, etc...), we spring the trap and try to subdue them! ;)
EDIT - Nevermind, just read the post above. In that case, Anežka looks over the building, to see if there is a way to get in unnoticed.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
MiniGM
understood, they were on a main thoroughfare until they went into the building. Did you want to spring the trap before they got inside? Not a lot of people on the street, but there are definitely people out there. Also remember you are at minimum 30 feet away, biggs is probably a bit further cause he is noisy.
Anežka Tzvana
If possible, I'd love to spring the trap on them! I have a surprise for them... But I don't want you to retcon things just because of me, so don't worry about it, I'm fine with waiting till they arrive at the building. Of course, the decision is always yours MiniGM! ^_^
MiniGM
well there is just no where to do it, that is trap worthy, since you are following them you can't get ahead of them, and they take a direct "safe" route home. It is something like this. They enter at the arrow, and it is a pretty straight shot from the arena (the road winds a bit, but you get the idea. You could attack before they go inside. If you have another way to ambush let me know. Sometimes I can only see the option that makes sense to me

Anežka Tzvana
My less then subtle idea was for Anežka to sneak up to them, then shout "IT'S RAINBOW TIME!!!" and Color Spray them both... In case of failure, run screaming like a little girl behind Biggs! xD
But getting inside the building and fighting them there will probably be much more fun... And quite a bit wiser!
Biggs Longshaft
Biggs doesn't think he can fend off an noire city of ruffians at this point ;p but oh what the hey? If there's not a way for us to sneak in... Hmm. Decisions decisions.
Anežka Tzvana
As their targets enter the rundown building, Anežka gives Biggs a little nudge - "We got them! This must be their hideout... Uhm... Perhaps it'd be best if we circle the place and see if there is a back entrance? Could come in handy!"
If Biggs agrees to come with her, Anežka goes around the building trying to find a backdoor, or hidden entrance, or any other means to enter the building.
Also, form this point forward, since a fight could break out at any moment, she won't go farther than 10 ft. from her sturdy dwarven friend! ^_^
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Biggs Longshaft
Biggs will agree to casually meander about the perimeter of the building.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
uhhh, can I take 20?
Anežka Tzvana
If this is their lair (and we have no garantee of that, but still), I'd say we have the time. Besides, there is just the two of us, so if we are too reckless I'm afraid this'll be a very short adventure! ;)
MiniGM
love it!
Belgrin and Anezka make there way around and they find two other options. The first a window on the ground floor level, the second is a window above, though you will have to climb to get up it. The window on the ground level is filthy so you cannot see through it, but you could clean it if you wanted.
Biggs Longshaft
"hmm... Judging by this filth Id say we found a kitchen window. Any way you can clean it up? This dwarf is not one for climbing, I grew up deep under the earth. Also, this dwarf is not the sneakiness. My father's armor is mighty tough... And mighty loud! So, Anezka, it would seem stealth will not be our ally here."
As he speaks he will detect magic on the window (and the widow only!) to see if it is magically trappe in any way.
Biggs Longshaft
"I must admit, during my training I neglected my studies of spellcraft in favor of focusing on the mighty way of Torag hammer fighting. I may be if little use here."
Biggs is not yet trained in spellcraft, was gonna take it at level 3 :p
spell craft: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Biggs Longshaft
"well blast it all... I believe we may have missed out chance girly... But I do have an idea... Assuming that second window is also alarmed, I think I could toss a stone through to cause a distraction, allowing us to enter the front door?"
Anežka Tzvana
"Uh... Well, it's risky..." - Anežka ponders for a moment - "But it's not like we have many alternatives here... Ok! Let's try it! But don't you leave me alone once we are inside!"
Anežka takes her crossbow form her back and loads it, ready to use it if need arises. Then casts Mage Armor on herself, breaths deeply, and she's ready to go!
Biggs Longshaft
i was going to have Biggs cast magic stone (which is level 3 thanks to earth affinity), and then launch one if the stones through the window, hoping to set off the alarm spell and send any guards up there to investigate.
Anežka Tzvana
If I got what Biggs suggested right, he'll grab a pebble and throw it through the upper floor window, smashing it. Then, while the thugs inside go check what was all that noise about (well, supposedly they'll act like that), we sneak in using the front door.
Biggs Longshaft
Biggs bends down and picks ups three small stones in his hand, then closes his eyes and says a quiet prayer to Torag. When he opens his hands again, the three stones shimmer with an unearthly light.
He places two stones in his pocket and then child the third up at the window!
prepare to run, lassy! We're gonna make a break for the door as soon as the alarm goes off! I may have to break the door down, assuming it is locked, so any sort of other distracting spells you could throw up in that window would help our cause!"
Go magic stone!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
damn!
Biggs quickly chucks another one!
Go magic stone!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 111d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Edit; added second throw!
Anežka Tzvana
To help the ruse, Anežka casts Ghost Sound in the street, to sound like childish laughter and hurried steps (to trick the thugs into thinking the window was broken by street urchins as a prank). Well, as soon as Biggs hits the window anyway. ;)
Also, she casts Prestidigitation, since it has 1 hour duration and may come in handy inside. You never know...
