She is chaotic good with a bit of righteous anger, just taking advantage of the opportunity that has presented itself. I'm just trying to react to what's occurring from the perspective of someone that really doesn't know who she's aiding, just that they seem to have the same idea, taking down the bandits.

That's cool. I don't think they'll surrender, so let's go get 'em.

Rhasadilara:
Calinder - no worries if you're busy.
Is this the US Thanksgiving? I seem to recall it's about now.
Lothar Narda
Yep Thanksgiving, so no work thur & friday....
Not true for all of us.... My job has me working through this week to Saturday morning at the very least (I work third shift - 10:45 pm to 7:15 am), with the real possibility of having to work this weekend as well. I'm not sure time and a half is worth it, but I'm not gonna turn it down either.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
It is indeed Thanksgiving. Fourth Thursday in November, mark your calendars! ;-)
I only have the actual holiday off unless I want to use a vacation day. It's generally so quiet on Friday that I think it's a waste of a vacation day -- I can come into the office, get things done that otherwise don't get attention. It's almost a bonus day off except I'm at my desk, which is not all bad (for me, anyway).

What do we know about mites? What sort of knowledge check might be applicable here?
It's going to be a Knowledge check, but different Knowledge checks cover different types of creatures, monsters, etc.
- Arcana - constructs, dragons, magical beasts
- Dungeoneering - aberrations, oozes
- Local - humanoids
- Nature - animals, fey, monstrous humanoids, plants, vermin
- Planes - outsiders
- Religion - undead

Yeah, I know. The question was which knowledge check would provide something useful - because Rule 0 always applies, also - the rules may say that Arcana is the check for dragons, but a different DC for a Nature check might yield the same results.
Maybe I should just roll whatever Knowledge checks I can and she can tell us what we learned as a result.

I've posted some information on mites for you.
Please remember I'm in the UK, and tend to shut down for the night about 7pm GMT: you're unlikely to get instantanous responses, I'm afraid.
Beautiful debate, though - good role-playing! Keep it up :)

If that was directed at me, no worries. I know we're in different time zones and don't expect instant response -- I'm just posting things as they occur to me, to be responded to or ignored as the appropriate person has time.
As for Gorguk's comment, this game/scenario so lends itself to the dilemma that make roleplaying almost a requirement. I've had to think long and hard about how my elven ranger would feel about the questions presented. I just hope I'm representing her views well -- and not interjecting my views instead.
In short, +1, totally agree.

Oh good, I just was concerned that you were feeling neglected...
I adore the role-playing aspects of our beloved game, and it's a true pleasure when a group of players takes off as this one has done. Thank you all very much for doing me the honour of playing with me!
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
I'm still grateful for the opportunity to play with this group - I saw the game start up, but was too slow to get in, so I lurked. Rhasa was created for another game where they decided they didn't need my services, so it was kismet when my elven ranger was largely made and this game's ranger disappeared (though I'm always worried a bit when someone disappears from the boards - odd to worry about someone who you have never met and whose name you do not even know...)
I am active in a number of pbp right now (a number I refuse to count so I actually cannot divulge), but I have to be honest - for the past couple of weeks this is definitely one of the top two that bring me back to the boards to see what's happened next.
In sum, I'm honored to share this virtual table with you folks. Thanks for letting me sit down and here's to a successful making of a nation...
Calinder Surital
Wow, I don't check the boards for a weekend and have a book to read when I get back. I have to agree with everyone else as well, this has turned out to be really fun and exciting, so my thanks go out to everyone as well.
And I'm sorry I didn't get to participate during the weekend, but my wife's First Lego League robotics team was called in as an alternate for the state competition and we only had two days to get ready and then the competition on Saturday, and then yesterday to recuperate. Quite a few of the teams that were suppose to be there couldn't come due to weather and travel problems.
The kids had a good time and got a taste of what the competition is like at the state level, so that was good. Hopefully we'll be more prepared next year.
Anyway, thanks again everyone for providing such a good opportunity to play Pathfinder.

Unfortunately, despite scampering around like a scalded earwig (and even going to one interview when it was -8 degrees and covered in snow!) I am yet without a job :(
A question for you all: What do you want to do over Christmas? Shall we carry on or would folks like a defined break to allow you to attend your festivities and family gatherings without having to worry about a game?

I'm open to either possibility. I'll just check the boards every once in a while - some of my games are on, some are pausing. *shrug*
Calinder Surital
I'll try and check at least once a day.
I'm off of work after today so I should have time. Of course there's the house to clean, Christmas dinner to cook, and lots of time in front of the TV playing the Wii that we got for our kids this year, but that will not be until Christmas Day and after.

I know that we are going to be covering this in the IC thread, but what is everyones ideal roles in kingmaker? I know that Lothar was thinking about diplomat and I am heading for general or ruler (if no one else wants ruler). Just curious as to what you all are thinking going forward.
Also Megan, if it is alright, I am still thinking about being a shining knight alternate class paladin. If there is any problems with this let me know. Thanks.

Diplomat or spymaster (leaning more towards spymaster with each passing day). With that said, I was wondering if our DM has any objections to my having the magician take levels of the Ninja alternate class from the Ultimate Combat playtest? I looked it over and it suits Lothar imminently, but I wanted to make sure it was okay to use.

I've only just downloaded the Ultimate Combat playtest, but from what I've seen of Lothar, that could be a very interesting career path for him to take.
And Gorguk, the shining knight's fine too.
It's good that you are thinking about roles early on, especially if you are considering class options as you gain levels.
The suggested roles are:
- Ruler
- Councillor
- General
- Grand Diplomat
- High Priest
- Magister
- Marshal
- Royal Assassin
- Spymaster
- Treasurer
- Warden
You are, of course, free to decide which, if any, of these roles you want in YOUR kingdom, suggest other roles you feel you need, choose to double up on some of them, or ask NPCs to fill any roles that nobody wants.
AinvarG
The suggested roles are:
- Ruler
- Councillor
- General
- Grand Diplomat
- High Priest
- Magister
- Marshal
- Royal Assassin
- Spymaster
- Treasurer
- Warden
I will have to look at the player's information to determine what the different roles entail. Based on what I think they mean, I suspect Rhasa's preference would be Warden. It's a different tack to take, planning the class levels around the anticipated role in the kingdom rather than around the anticipated role in the party. Interesting - she could become a Royal Assassin, too, with the sniper archetype...
Gorguk
Luckily for me, I can continue to take levels in paladin and it will work perfectly for general or ruler. The Shining knight alternate class features plays into more of the general's role, but a ruler should lead by example, even in battle. (Until I get killed doing something foolish that is.)
Gorguk
So temporarily speaking, from what people have indicated our list is:
- Ruler (Gorguk)
- Councillor
- General (Gorguk, Barnabus)
- Grand Diplomat (Barnabus, Lothar)
- High Priest (Cal)
- Magister
- Marshal
- Royal Assassin (Rhasa)
- Spymaster (Lothar)
- Treasurer
- Warden (Rhasa)
As long as I don't take the general and Lothar take diplomat, then we should all have something that we are happy with.

I usually do maximum by class for first level then allow either a roll of the appropriate die OR one-half of full thereafter, choice to be made before you pick up a die/type the die-roller code. Con bonus and anything else to be added, of course.
How did you do first level?
Gorguk
We did full at first level and if okay with you I will just follow the half value for each level.
Cal what is our party inventory of loot to sell? I am hoping that we will have enough for each of us to get 80 gold so I can pay Oleg for my shield and arrows.
Gorguk
1d6
That is a terrible roll!
I think we did full at first level, but that was a long time ago.......
I will update to reflect the roll!
That roll is only 1 less then half. I mean you only lost 1 HP this way. It would have been worse is Rhasa or I rolled a 2. I just looked at your update, enlarge person as another spell. That sounds like an excellent option. Was wondering if you were going to add ranks in linguistics if you were going after the diplomat position? If no one does, the obsessive compulsive nature of needing to know why the kobolds are there will force me to take a rank just to learn draconic. I would have to give up a rank in heal for a level though.
*edited*
Lothar Narda
Lothar has leveled up!
Used the average for the die as far as hit points are concerned, which is what I usually do.
Has sift as a new 0-level spell and vanish as a new 1st level spell.
Added the dagger he obtained to stat block as well.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough
My work is mostly done, but it's not under my avatar yet.
I took the five hit points (Gorguk scared me with his talk of how much worse a 2 would be for me ;-) and a bonus hit point for my favored class.
I took Archery as the combat style though I debated the two-handed option now that I'm wielding that elven curved blade... But no. Took Precise Shot as my first bonus feat.
I'll post it into my character sheet as soon as I can.
Barnabus
Did anyone take draconic for a skill point to talk witht he kobolds?
I am willing to do that perhaps another language as well I was thinking fey......
Maybe we should look at the languages we know and what we are missing!
My languages are currently
Common, orc, sylvan, celestial, abyssal
Calindar
Celestial, Common, Elven
Gorguk
Common, Orc
Lothar
Common, Kelish, Varisian, Vudrani
Rahas
Common, Elven, Goblin, Orc
Barnabus
OK added draconic and can add one more.....
From the swamps (my background reads)
from the west of the Greenbelt slope gently away into a large and dangerous swampland known as Hooktongue Slough. This region is infested with tribes of boggards and lizardfolk, but also by dangerous monsters like hydras, nagas, creepy bug people, and worse.
I am leaning towards a language we may need in the future....
Lizardfilk speak draconic (check)
boggards speak "boggard" (that is not even listed in the linguistics skill!)
Nagas speak infernal (check)
I am going for Boggard!
Any other ideas/objections before I set this!
Gorguk
Thanks Barnabus. I am sure that every language will be needed at some point. You gotta love sanbox campaigns. Alright I will put my skill point in heal then. I should be all leveled up and ready to go now.
I don't kow why, but it seems like everyone gained so many abilities just for going up a level. Iam mean Rhasa got precise shot, Barnabus got a slumber hex and more spells, I can also heal now and my saves went way up.
Gorguk
As far as other ideas Barnabus, the spell Share Language I think would go a long way towards solving the problem of speaking with other creatures. The only problem is that it is a bard1, wiz/sorc2, druid2 spell. unless you have a good use magic device I don't know how you will cast it. We can always have Lothar cast it for you and supply him with 4 scrolls of it out of the party fund. Any other ideas for purchases from the party fund. Do we want to buy some more alchemist fire or acid splash vials? We have so much healing in the group now it seems that we won't need to buy any healing items from the fund. What are your thoughts on this?
If Megan allows, Barnabus could cast the spell and have Cal scribe it on to a scroll. If this is the case, I would love to purchase a couple of scrolls of enlarge person for Barnabus to cast on me at later times. This way he will have a freed up some spells and not worry about casting them on me. I don't know how many other people will want to be enlarged besides me.
