"He was from Magnimar, I think.
Brandark Plainswalker
Well, Brandark grins We could always try this key in every home in Magnimar. I am sure it will fit one of them.
As he brandishes the key taken from the skinsaw man.
Stone the Blade of Sarenrae
|
We could or we could ask the mayor or some other high-ranking town official if they know where he resided in Magnimar or if there is someone we can talk to once we get there.
Proprietor Kaijitsu
Well in the mean time Ameiko tells the party, "I understand from Shalelu you are heading to Magnimar. I have family down there. Since you may be away for a few days, I will be roasting up a side of beef for tonight. We will have spiced potatoes, roasted corn and baked beans. We will open a fresh keg of Dwarven Ale and I even have a couple of bottles of vintage Elven Wine that have not been uncorked." Ameiko gives Elektra a nod and Shalelu a wink.
Elektra Stardancer
"Actually that would be good idea Stone. If they are anything like you, they have many useful conntacts and at least know where to find decent logging and a good place to sell and buy items. Maybe you want us to deliver a letter? As to the key, I assume that if our dead friend has a property in Magnimar we should find a lock for the key. And finding a nobles house in a city is comparbly easy! And if not easy, then it is a logical challenge. I am so looking forward to it." Taking another sip Elektra leans back again and strokes her familiar absentmindly.
Proprietor Kaijitsu
"Actually it is more had. We own a Villa in Magnimar. My Father often stayed in Magnimar. Just before..." Ameiko pauses. "He wanted me to return to Magnimar with him. But my care is for the Rusty Dragon. I do have a cousin who stays there. Her name is Choko. She is the caretaker. It is a big place. You could stay there. I will give you a letter of introduction." Ameiko returns to serving other customers.
Brandark Plainswalker
That would be appreciated
He then seats himself properly and looks at the others.
Shall we let the sheriff know our intentions again, and let the father know, so they can figure out what to do with that house.

Day Thirty-Two
As the party prepares to head for Magnimar, Ameiko will approach the party, "Shalelu must have left sometime during the night. I don't think she likes big cities. Normally she only stays here one night every couple of months or so. She prefers the woods, I guess."
Is the party ready to move on to Magnimar?
Brandark Plainswalker
That is a shame, I know of one whom will miss the company.
However, if you would be so kind to pass us the letter of introduction, it would be appreciated.
I am about as ready as I could be.
GM Mazra
The road South along the Lost Coast Road is becoming familiar. It is a sunny day. The breeze off the Gulf is pleasing. After several hours, the party passes the long lane that leads to the soon to be destroyed Foxglove Manor.
A little after, you pass the area where Ghouls first ambushed the party. The stench of death still lingers in this area. Shortly after that you come across several wagons of farmers returning to their homesteads. Some recognizes the party. Cheers and thanksgiving is offered to the Heroes of Sandpoint.
By evening you reach the Wayfarer's Inn. There is a single wagon and about three horses in the coral. The same bedraggled family continues to run this inn. It is 5 silvers per horse and three golds per room. There are six rooms available. You can double up on the rooms for an extra two golds per person.
That evening the beer is fresh, the water questionable and the local wine vinegary. A better than average fish chowder was being served. This all comes with the room with one mug or cup of beverage. More beer or wine is 2 silvers a mug.
When you get to Magnimar you may fine this pricing a deal.
Brandark Plainswalker
Not feeling comfortable here, so I think doubling up should be the order of the day. plus a bit cheaper. :)
However, it can come out of the communal pot.
Three rooms Barkeep, two for the men, and one for the lady, with the ladies room between the mens.
He fishes for a poorly loaded pouch, and pulls the coins out to pay for the rooms and horse stabling.
Looking at 3 gold for the horses, 5 of us, and a pack horse, 3 rooms at 3 gold, plus 2 additionals at 2 gold per= 16 gold total.
Garrath Tricks the Giants
When they get to Magnimar, Garrath is going to inquire about where he can find the Foxglove home, and if people ask, will tell them that he joined Aldern in a boar hunt outside of Sandpoint not long ago, and was told to come visit the Foxgloves if he was ever in Magnimar.
Brandark Plainswalker
I am not sure we are there yet.
GM Mazra
Day Thirty-Three
In the morning, breakfast is a tasteless pasty oatmeal. You may want to pass on it. The hot dark wine, however, is good and strong.
Bonus time: A prize will be added to the party's treasure in the near future that will likely, no guarantees, be useful to the player's PC if you can tell me what series of novels referred to coffee as black wine.
Brandark Plainswalker
percept: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Now that you pointed her out, I do. I wonder what is up with her.
He gets up after the tasteless breakfast, and goes out to get the horses ready to travel.
I think it was the Shanharra Series.
Garrath Tricks the Giants
Wow....fire up the way back machine!
Garrath will join Stone, and urge his full height, and size up. "Yes, let's.
GM Mazra
When Stone and Garrath approach, she will turn away. But since there is no place for her to go, she will sheepishly look up at two of the Heroes of Sandpoint, "Can I help you."
The woman looks to be in her early twenties. She has tanned skin and brown hair. She is a bit stocky in a faded green dress, tan blouse and greenish leather corset. She looks to be wearing brown soft leather boots without a heel. She has a dagger and a crossbow leaning against her chair. You notice a number of tattoos on her arms and top left cleavage. She looks to be Varisian. On the table looks to be a codex. The young woman had been writing in it with ink and quill.
Brandark Plainswalker
Brandark moves around the outside of the inn to near the window where she was sitting, to cut off any possible escape.
Stone the Blade of Sarenrae
|
Come now would you rather talk to me or him? Stone will say with a smile and nod at Garrath Now why don't we just be nice and civilized about this, yes ok. My name is Stone I'm a Cleric of The goddess of the Dawnflower. And you are...
Diplomacy : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Perception : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 What was she reading
Garrath Tricks the Giants
Garrath sits at the table, close enough to Devora to make it just slightly uncomfortable. "Big city, how'd you know we'd be here? Too big for it to be an accident, I think."
Garrath will keep an eye on her and if it looks like she's going to go for the crossbow, he'll kick it away.
Devora Heidmarch
"If you really must know. My Aunt is Sheila Heidmarch. She runs the Pathfinder Society in Magnimar. We have heard rumors of your exploits for some time. I have been waiting here for over a week for you to come by. We guessed you would at some point come to Magnimar. And you would need to make a stop here on your way. And you did. You see, we chronicle history. And you are making history." The young woman seems a bit relieve to reveal all this.
Brandark Plainswalker
Straining to look in the window, he notices the slight change in body language, and goes to prepare the horses for the days journey.
After about half an hour, Brandark walks back in and rejoins the group.
Devora Heidmarch
Devora looks at Stone, then pats her Crossbow, "I am handy with this." She gives Stone a smile.
The party saddles up and heads to Magnimar.
Along the way, Devora interviews each member of the party, getting their side of their adventures so far. She is particularly interested in anything to do with Thassilon, the Catacombs of Wrath, Thistletop, the Greater Barghest Malfeshnekor. When Lyrie Akenja is mentioned, she will cringe, "That evil woman. She is a murderer. She needs to be brought to Magnimar and hanged."
Devora happily recited from memory a quote from one of founders of Magnimar as the party comes over a rise and sees the city for the first time in the distance, “KORVOSAN EXPLORERS CALLED THIS THE LOST COAST, YET IT IS HERE THAT WE FOUND SOMETHING NO KORVOSAN CAN EVER UNDERSTAND—FREEDOM. ATOP THE SEACLEFT, WHERE THE GIANT’S BRIDGE STILL YEARNS FOR ITS FAR SHORE, AND WHERE THE ANGELS OF THE ARVENSOAR DANCED FOR THE MOON’S DELIGHT, WE HAVE BUILT A CITY TO RIVAL NOT ONLY FAR KORVOSA, BUT ANY THAT SPRAWLS IN CHELIAX OR ON THE SHORES OF THE INNER SEA. MAGNIMAR IS NEW IN BODY, YET SHE IS IMPOSSIBLY ANCIENT IN SOUL, AND THAT SOUL SHALL CARRY US, HER NEWEST WARDS, INTO A FUTURE WHERE ALL OF VARISIA’S CHILDREN CAN COME TO LIVE AS ONE IN THE SHADOW OF GREAT MONUMENTS, NEW AND OLD.”—ALCAYDIAN INDROS, FOUNDER OF MAGNIMAR" Devora beamed with pride at her city.
Devora talks with Elektra at length, often conversing in Thassilonian. The young woman tells the mage about the Pathfinder Society and its growing library of historical reference books. "The studies in ancient Thassilon has been an important focus of late," Devora says.
It is very late in the afternoon when you reach the gates of the city, Devora rides ahead and says to one of the guards, "These are the Heroes of Sandpoint. They are with me." The Guard waves you on and through the gates.
The Lost Coast Road stables are just past the gates to the right. It is a large orderly place with several attendants. It is 3 silvers per day to stable your horses here. This also looks to be the base for horse drawn cabs that serve the city.
"My Aunt may not be too happy about this, but you could stay at the Pathfinder Society tonight if you like. Aunt Sheila, in the end, may find your company fascinating. There is also the Lord's Inn. It is a nice place, if a bit pricey. Diplomats from all over Golarion stay there," the eager young Pathfinder communicates this.
If you haven't already looked it over, there is a Magnimar folder at top.
