Calene’s oratory once again inspires the party.

Brandark drops another of the foul little fiends, then steps over the pooling mass of blood and innards. Goblin 9

Garrath too takes a step and sends yet another Goblin to the infernal regions. Goblin 8

Seeing Goblin after Goblin fall, then watching as two scary big Longshanks approach, the Goblin 6 drops his bow and turns to run. But it soon realizes it has nowhere to run to.

The weird yelping continues, but nothing else attacks the party.

I figured I would chase him down, as I didn't want anything able to follow us. As for being back home, not yet.


"The dogs are still east of here, and not coming closer. Perhaps they are tied up or caged. Either way, we will need to find them before too much longer just to make sure."


As the party moves more to the East, the thistle tunnels open into a large cave-like chamber to the South from your position. Above, the thorny canopy grows thin enough that tiny slivers of the sky above can be seen, while below, the ground consists of trampled dirt. You hear the sound of sloshing waves echoes up from a hole roughly in the middle of this cave-like area. While in this area the party can stand without crouching.

Elektra slowly follows their scouts ready to trap the dogs with a pit as soon as they appear.


What do you do next? The baying of the Goblin Dogs continues, but none approach.


It looks like the thorn wall 20 feet east of Garrath is solid (I did not want to move the fow squares), so assuming that...
stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Noticing the thorn walls leave only one path to follow, Kelvin says "lets go" and moves stealthily south along the trail to the slightly more open area(C27) and looks around.


Kelvin sees a large hole with the sounds of water sloshing below into the darkness. The baying sound is a little more clear coming from a place where the cavernous like area returns to narrow thistle tunnels. Around Q38.

Kelvin looks down the hole, and tries to determine how deep it goes before the surface of the water. "What do you all think is down there?" he asks, and to Brandark, "while my vision is pretty good, you can see in the dark so can you see anything?"

Garrath walks back to where they just had a fight and comes back with a goblin body and tosses it in the hole trying to judge how far down until a splash, and then listening for sounds of it being devoured.

As for what is down there, I cannot say right now. All I hear is water, and I for one swim like a rock.


Garrath and Kelvin estimates that the Goblin's body fell 70 to 90 feet before you here a splash. After a couple of minutes, you hear a brief howling sound coming up from the hole. Then the sound of splashing and gnawing as you presume the Goblin is being devoured by some sea creature below. It is too far into the dark for Brandark to make out what is below clearly. He will make out what looks to be something with fins thrashing about.

Kelvin moves back to the group and reports what he saw. "We will have to get rid of the beasties. The rope is fraying and looks like it won't last much longer."

The Goblin Dogs bay wildly and strain against the fraying ropes, but the ropes hold.

Even tethered the Goblin Dog manages to dodge Elektra's Acid Splash. Garrath, Greatsword in hand, readies himself in case something else comes along or a Goblin Dog breaks its fraying rope. Kelvin, meanwhile, put an arrow into yet another of the creatures truly too hideous to be called Dogs. The Goblin Dog staggers, severely injured by the Elf's shaft.

Then moving quickly from the south portion of the easternmost crossroads of thorns and thistles comes a Firepelt Cougar. Garrath swings at the attack big cat.

Coming from what looks like the thistles themselves, a Goblin, dressed unlike any you have ever seen before, steps onto the trail to the North, a flaming sword in one hand. Then all of a sudden the thorns and thistle begins to quickly grow around the party attempting to Entangle the party.

The Round Green Circle the area of effect for the Entangle spell. Reflex Saves to follow.


Reflex Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Figuring that Garrath and Calene can handle what is behind them, Kelvin attempts to move out of the entangled area. "Brandark, step up if you can."

If that passes, he moves to N40 so Brandark can step up into N39 with his axe.

Brandark holsters his axe I think I will try this out. and draws the longsword that he was wearing across his back, and igniting it.

Garrath swings at the Firepelt Cougar, but the beast is too nimble, and dodges the blow.

It returns the swath with sharp pointy teeth:

The Cougar bites at Garrath's legs causing the big Barbarian to fall prone.

Elektra and Kelvin in true Elvish form avoid the effect of the entangling thorns. Brandark, Calene and Garrath have the Entangled condition. The character is ensnared. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

@Garrath - You did! You did!

Edit: Cross posting changed the dice rolls. Brandark failed the save, and Kelvin made the save. I had those same results too initially. However, now Elektra and Kelvin failed and Garrath saved in the revised posting. However, I will use Kelvin's roll, which saves. Garrath saved now, however he is still prone.


@Brandark - You beat me to the punch. How again did you calculate your Reflex save. You missed either way, I just want to make sure I am calculating it correctly.

The remaining Goblin Dogs fail to break the bonds of their ropes. One of the Goblin Dogs (2), weak from the arrow sticking in its side, barely holding on to consciousness, did not attempt to break free.

Calene still has actions in Round Two. But we can go ahead with Round Three actions. @Calene - Go ahead with both Rounds worth of actions. Thanks!

(HP77/77), (AC21/20, T11, FF20/19(With/Without Shield)) +4 vs Giant Subtype, Saves (F+10,R+5, W+4)(+4 vs Spell, SLA, and +2 vs Poison),(CMB 15, CMD 27), (Init 2, Perc+14-+2 vs stonework)

I calculated using class which gave a 2, stat which gave 1, feat steel soul gives a +4 vs spells and Spell like abilities.
I know I failed, which is why I took the 1 point of damage, and most of my movement to move where I did.
If it was a Su or a Ex ability, I only get a +2 due to the hardy trait
