Ugly Stranger |

An unusual band passes through Maximo's for a one night show.
day job – Ugly and the Strangers: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Maximo Interresante |
Maximo strides into the Hideaway with renewed vigor. Raising a hand to the ugly barwench, he orders his favorite libation.
"A fine glass of Alkenstar Icewine, my lovely!"
Retiring to his private booth, he slides a couple old books from a satchel and plops them on the table. Opening one book he removes a sheaf of paper used a bookmark within the pages, and spreads it across the wood, muttering to himself. "All I need is one. Just one on the list..."
Tessara Omelion PFS |
A small elven woman walks into the bar. "Greetings, sweetie. Could I please get a warm cup of honeyed mead? My old bones need something other than cold liquor.". She walks over to an empty table and seats herself, pulling out a set of knitting needles and a ball of yarn. She begins happily knitting away. As she hums a tune, a tiny monkey appears out of the folds of her gown and takes a seat on the table beside of her.
Gerald's witch.
Maximo Interresante |
Sitting bolt upright Maximo gives James a startled look. "Oh. Hello young lord Younger!" He glances quickly down at the paper he was examining then sheepishly slides it back into the book and closes it. "Nothing you should concern yourself with, young man. Just an old fool's errand. Uh, I don't suppose you are have studied the Tekritanin language, hmm?"
Kilian fan-Vaylen |
Whistling an Andoran sea chantey (somewhat off-key), Kilian strides into the bar. "Ale! Something local; I swear, the bars around Thornkeep sell nothing but goblin pi--ah, hello, Max. James. Good to see you. I was off babysitting some novices."
Maximo Interresante |
"The Technic League?" Maximo's eyebrows threaten to jump up into his hairline. He quickly makes some notes.
He's completely focused on his notes as Kilian enters, but still attempts civility. "Yes, yes. Sit down, my friend. Drinks on the house and all that... sweet Shelyn's glaive, the Technic League!"
VC Rúmil the Constant |
A tall elf walks in, wearing long robes a turban. A bow and quiver are slung across his back. His skin looks dry and cracked-as if treated with some sort of preservative. He nods to those sitting around the establishment and takes up a seat.
VC Rúmil the Constant |
The embalmed elf clears his throat and looks around. "I hear they've uncovered an active cell of Lissalan worshipers in Palin's Cove. I've also heard rumors the Society is looking for agents to infiltrate the cult." The elf returns to his business.
I'm running 04-08 The Cultist's Kiss (7-11) but need at least two more players. Head over to the discussion if you are interested.
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
4-08?
Interdimensional, breaking-the-rules piggy dot.
Alas, I am both full-up on leveled, available characters and have done that one already. I think I know someone who has yet to play it, but probably doesn't have anything in high tier until Lyrics is done yet.
Maximo Interresante |
In a corner of the Hideaway, surrounded by a pile of books, scrolls, beakers, reagent bottles, vials, and an assortment of strange alchemical devices including a Thuvian Extract Condenser Apparatus, Maximo watches a strange glowing liquid.
"Patience... patience." He mutters, though he is slowly losing his.
A courier arrives with a message, but Maximo waves him off. "One moment. Almost there... almost..." There is a sudden flash from the liquid within the apparatus which produces a cloud of vapor that ascends through glass tubing, quickly condensing and dripping into a small vial. "There!" Maximo declares with a broad smile. "Hah! I knew it!" He quickly marks down some notes, mumbling them as he does.
"One Tekritanin litre equals two Taldan pints, minus a noble sip or two."
Turning to the courier finally. "Now my good man, on what business are you.. ah, a letter I see."
Opening the message, his eyebrows rise dramatically. "Interesting. Inform the Venture-Captain I will attend!"
Arovandeon Isero |
An elf enters the Hideaway, one hand holding the door, the other splitting a leatherbound book that seems glued to his eye line. Sitting at a table, he orders a glass of Osirion ale without looking up. When he finally stops reading for a moment, it is to slip another book from a large pocket in his coat, open to a blank page held by a thin piece of wrapped charcoal, and begin a sketch noted with engineering marks. About a half-hour later, his ale long since delivered but not yet touched, he lets out a long breath and looks up.
He blinks, rubs his eyes, and blinks again at Maximo's alchemical apparatus still standing by the table in the corner. Standing, he moves to give it a closer examination. A paper, left open on the table and now covered with splotches of old wine and coated with a film of dust, catches his attention.
What in Golarion? I hope someone isn't planning on consuming whatever concoction that is...
Shaking his head, he steps back to his table and takes a sip of his ale.
Pu |
A white monkey scampers across the floor, weaving through patrons and hopping up a barstool at the public board hanging on the wall. Pulling a rolled up scroll from a small backpack, it pins a notice up for all to see. Standing for a second with tiny hands on hips, the monkey gives a satisfied nod, then leaps across a few tables, making its way back to a booth where an old gnome sits, fingers holding a quill to another half-written notice. It waits for a second, before chittering at him.
"Yes, yes. Good work." The gnome says with a Tien accent as he slides a bowl of crackers towards the monkey without looking up. The monkey looks at the bowl, picks up a chip and takes a nibble, but quickly discards the morsel over a shoulder in disgust. When the gnome looks away to redip his quill the monkey snatches his ale cup and steals a large sip.
The Notice:
Pathfinders Wanted!
Hidden within the twisting paths of the Echo Wood lies the lawless settlement of Thornkeep. Here, the hardiest settlers and artisans ply their trades, ready to defend their own with blade or arrow; mercenaries and barbarians brawl in dismal taphouses, fueled by turbid moonshine and illicit backwater drugs; brigands and river pirates come to spend their bloody gold in unruly and dingy establishments; and monsters both benign and otherwise hide among the populace, eking out their debauched existences as they seek to inflict cruelties on their neighbors. Mercy, charity, trust—these virtues are in short supply in Thornkeep. It is a place where the bold and enterprising can make a fortune and perhaps even keep it—so long as they are strong enough to protect their wealth from the myriad dangers, both human and otherwise, that plague the town.
Beneath the weathered walls of Thornkeep lies an ancient maze of magic and madness. Once the workrooms and summoning chamber of a rebel Azlanti lord, these subterranean chambers were forgotten thousands of years ago after the eradication of the evil lord and his followers. Over the centuries, adventurers have found their way into these twisting passages and magnificent chambers, only to discover that the fading magic of the ancient Azlanti still lingers here. The people of Thornkeep call this dungeon the Halls Under the Hill, but those heroes who have dared its depths know this place by a different name: the Accursed Halls.
Rumors have recently reached the ears of the Pathfinder Society of something stirring within the Halls, and Baron Tervin Blackshield has given Pathfinders permission to explore the dangerous dungeons. All those brave enough to delve the Accursed Halls report to Aram Zey at the Grand Lodge in Absalom for further details.
DM Rah here! I'm running Thornkeep, Level 1 "The Accursed Halls." I'm looking for 4-6 dedicated players with 1st or 2nd level PCs willing to post 1-2 times per day. My hope is to complete it within a month.
Replay Note: All Tier 1 scenarios and Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules are available for unlimited replay with a 1st-level character for credit. The sanctioned modules may also be played with a 2nd-level character once for credit.
Ali Khalid Mustafa Ansari |
Endless Forms here. I've got this level 2 caster bard I could play or a level one bloodrager, depending on what the party prefers. I also have a level one oracle.
Hagrym PFS |
I ran a first level character through it earlier. Just to be sure, I could now run a second level character through it, on a one time only basis? If so, I've got Hagrym, a 2nd level Inquisitor hanging out kicking rocks. If he can play, I'm in. This is Gerald, by the way.
Jarlgur Flamnord |
I ran a first level character through it earlier. Just to be sure, I could now run a second level character through it, on a one time only basis?
That is correct.
Ali Khalid Mustafa Ansari |
The lithe young man with a puffed-out chest jumps up from his seat. "Well, it seems like I only just arrived and now I must be off! I don't even think I remembered to give myself the proper introduction, which seems rather against my nature."
Rushing to the door dramatically and throwing it open so that the wind will billow his cape about him, the man booms, "You have been graced by the presence of Ali Khalid Mustafa Ansari ibn Adeeb, the greatest magician of Qadira! Good day to you all!"
With a whip of his cape, he is gone.
DM Beckett |
Planning to run Weapon in the Rift (5th-9th level). If anyone is interested, please say so HERE
DM Rah |
A man carrying a toolbox and framed board of wood enters Maximo's Hideaway and speaks with the tavernkeeper for a few moments before being directed to a wall near the door. Moving to the wall, he takes some measurements, carefully places the board and nails it into place.
Over the next few days a handful of notices bearing the symbol of the open road have appeared on the board.
I've created a PbP sign up sheet. I might add more scenarios if there is a lot of interest.
Ali Khalid Mustafa Ansari |
Ali looks over the notices. His eyes widen. "Thornkeep? Ah, I made quite the splash with the local nobleman and his family in the town over there! Surely I will return in what will promise to be The Greatest Second Act of All Time!" Fireworks light up behind Ali* as he throws out his arms, his cape fluttering behind him in a piece of dramatic flair.
Rhoswen Faerondalan |
A tall elven woman walks through the door and notices the posted notice. "Alright, they're finally sending us back down into that Thornkeep place." She notices her magician friend and strikes up a conversation with him.
"Ali, so good to see you. I am honored to venture forth with you again."
Aryk Sief al Kiraan |
A burly Keleshite man, wrapped in a white kandura and blue kibr, leisurely glides into the room, stopping at the notice as he enters.
Ah! he exclaims, with a broad smile. Assistance is needed among the peoples of the River Kingdoms! Never let it be said that Aryk Sief al Kiraan did not heed a call for aid!
By the way, have any of you seen my sister Kyra...?
DM Rah |
Another, very prominent, notice has been attached to the public board in Maximo's Hideaway.
PBP Game Day 2 is starting April 5th. I'm planning on running 2 games for it, and will probably select them from my sign-up sheet linked at the top here. If you are interested, but are not eligible for any of those, let me know and maybe I'll run something else.
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
Ah, Godsmouth is a Tier 1, ain't it? I played it back when modules were Super Campaign Mode, so its been long enough that I had to check if I played it. I'd be up for it, but please take preference to not-playeds should it come to that. I'll have to see what level it got applied at for me...

A man bearing the symbol of the open road on his cloak enters the Hideaway and heads to the board. Pursing his lips, considers the notes there for a moment...
I've got a few things listed on my sign-up sheet, but none are dedicated Gameday 2 games yet. Was thinking about making Enemy's Enemy one, and maybe adding a couple more. Who's interested in 4-13 Fortress of the Nail or 3-10 The Immortal Conundrum? Also, are there limits for what kind of module or PFS adventure the VOs will provide to a GM for an event? Was considering running the first part of Jade Regent, but don't have a PDF of it yet.
Rhoswen Faerondalan |
You haven't started the 2nd part of Thornkeep yet for our group, have you DM Rah? Just making sure I didn't miss it. I'd be up for Fortess of the Nail (unsure of the tier) I've already played Immortal Conundrum.
