Yeah, I’m sad to see him go, but it’s probably for the best in the long run.

Talia, I’m open to the possibility of an NPC companion, but I would want one of y’all to control him or her in combat if so. That said, my preference would be to stick with you four. I plan to make adjustments to future encounters to account for the party’s new size, so hopefully fights will have an appropriate difficulty level.

So since everyone just got some more loot, now's probably as good a time as any to address another loot related matter. Namely the tracking of said loot. It doesn't seem like we've been using (or even necessarily updating) the loot spreadsheet, so I wanted to toss out an idea.

From what I can tell, y'all seem to be doing a good job of keeping your character profiles updated with your personal loot. Would y'all like to just exclusively track your personal loot on your profile pages? That way you only have one place to update and we don't have to worry about any discrepancies between the two.

I would still want one of y'all to keep track of shared/group loot (probably via the spreadsheet, but I suppose that could be done on someone's profile page if they preferred). Does the above sound viable or do y'all prefer our current method? I mostly just want to simplify things, if possible, so it's as uncomplicated as possible. Opinions and feedback are appreciated!

Hey GM, would you let me swap the order of my feats as I level up :)

I kinda want to get Improved Familiar, and with the kobold storyline, it makes sense to be able to swap out Midnight for Calligraphy Wyrm around this point in time.

Can I swap out Extra Hex for Improved Familiar :)
Doesn't result in an actual change in number of hexes (since I get one this level anyway) but I'm just asking =]

It'd be cool if you write something in-character to explain the swap, but otherwise that works for me. You can swap out Extra Hex for Improved Familiar... just know that I might say no to something... someday. : )

Since we just lost Vorya, if anyone else wants to make some *relatively minor* changes to your build, let me know and I'll weigh in. As I mentioned before though, I think y'all are still a remarkably well-balanced party (full arcane, full divine, tank/two-handed user, and skills/two weapon user).

I don’t really want to give up Midnight either but in his current form he is quite vulnerable. Still though, Midnight is a Heavens Spirit Animal which means that I can still keep Midnight - just in a different bodyshape. I might need to do a manifestation ritual, but that might be the best IC solution

Talivar, there are plenty of opportunities to pick from. Greater Invisibility, Enervation, Wandering Star Motes, Ball Lightning, Confusion are all super powerful spells. Pick whatever you like

Possibly, but I left that open. Chessin is relatively junior (or was at that time) so its possible that the real reasons were kept from him and only known to the Vernai. I also deliberately left out Talia's parents (who were killed by a Red Mantis attack when she was a child) from the whole scene, in case there were connections there that needed explaining.

Mostly though, I felt uncomfortable writing some grandiose twist that was a heel turn on what the GM might have already planned. Sometimes the best twists are the ones you don't see coming IC or OOC.

Not all the visions have to be earth-shattering. They just need to provide some extra context or information about the past event you have in mind, which is what yours and Kilarra's did. Twists are definitely something that's easier for me to write as GM, unless I shared them with y'all beforehand, but that would take some of the fun out of them.

That Kickstarter looks really neat, Kilarra. I've read some of the posts on your website. It seems like y'all have been working on that for quite a while. I hope it goes well.

I'll go ahead and make it official that everyone's responsible for tracking their own personal loot at this point. I'll wait a week or so to adjust the loot spreadsheet, so please double check to make sure everything looks correct on your profile as compared to the sheet. I would still like a volunteer to look after the group loot. That would mostly just be wands, scrolls, potions, and items that haven't been claimed yet. You'd also be the one in-charge of marking off used wand charges and such. Thank you in advance!

So Talivar has a some gold to spend. (Incidentally spontaneous casters can't use pearls of power so those go to Talia). Normally about now I'd be tempted by mnemonic vestments but Talia seems to have the rare spell casting aspect covered (also the visuals are not his style). Perhaps I should just go for defensive stuff? Perhaps also upgrade his circlet to a circlet of persuasion for +3 to CHA skill checks.

I have just realized something better I can do.

Talia is very low WBL, so I don't have to upgrade my headband (its just basically a +2 to CHA is all I get).

Instead, I could get some metamagic rods for Talivar to use, like Dazing, Intensified, Maximise, or RIme. Can probably only afford the lesser rods, but the option is there Talivar.

Otherwise, I'll probably just upgrade my headband as I said earlier.

Thanks for the offer Talia, I'll bear that in mind. In a level or two I'm thinking of getting a quicken metamagic rod, bit too pricey for now. I'll probably steer away from dazing metamagic, don't want to break the game.

Now I was going to upgrade Talivar's cloak but I found this spell that's bang on the money for visuals and I think it would be useful for tripping foes - especially ones with SR.

So I realized I was including the price of the haste wand in Talivar's WBL calculation with it's original 10 charges. It's down to 2 now and will be gone soon. If Zek is OK with it I'll pick up a ring of spell knowledge 3 containing ice spears. Strictly speaking it looks like he'll need Talia's help to teach something to the ring.

I'm about 500 gp shy of having the requisite room in my WBL for a keen upgrade to my falchion. :-(

(The +2 ring of protection and boots of striding and springing are expensive!)

Talivar, if you've got room to pick an extra third level spell, allow me to suggest keen edge. At least until next level, and then I'll definitely have enough coin.

Though, Zek, could we basically "drop" treasure? I mean, I really enjoy having the mithril chain shirt to sleep in, but honestly, Uruelleth would rather fight in his undies with a keen falchion than have a mithril chain nightshirt.

Uruelleth I can drop Resist Energy (Communal) for Keen Edge if you want. I'd only get one casting but with an extend rod you would be looking at 160 mins - just over 2.5 hours. Or I could get a 3rd level Pearl of Power, which in combination with an Extend Rod, probably gives us enough castings per day

I hate to do this, Talia, but I want to be consistent. A headband of mental superiority +2 costs 16,000 gp which is more than a third of your WBL. As such, you’ll need to hold off on upgrading to that for now. Please feel free to pick up other items instead, though.

Also, Talivar, the ring of spell knowledge 3 is slightly outside of budget at 8th level, so that will need to wait, too. I'm good with it once you can afford it, though. In the spirit of the spell, I'd probably want Talia to roll a spellcraft check to install the spell when you first get it.

Talivar, group use items like wands (for group buffs, at least) probably shouldn't be included as part of your WBL. There should probably be a group gold pile... maybe a third of what everyone's normal WBL is (open for discussion). No sense in taking up WBL space with items that help the group as a whole.

Uruelleth, yes, you can swap out and/or drop loot, if you want to. The only hard rule I'm trying to stick to is the 1/3 WBL at most per item (as per Talivar's earlier suggestion for balance purposes). So on that note, don't feel like you have to keep loot that was specifically given out if you prefer something else. Probably best to say trade outs/ups should only happen during a level up, again just to keep things from being too crazy.

Speaking of will saves...

I think I'll go with upgrading my cloak of resistance to a +2 (though I'm still not sure if that'll help much, since it seems like I tend to roll less than 10 whenever one is called for).

That way, I'll keep my mithril jammies and offer many thanks to Talia for the keen edge spell for when we go into battle.

It’s kinda up to Rue and Kilarra at this point if we want to fight it now. I can take Tidal Surge as a spell when I get access to 5th level spells (so level 9) but if we engage it now, it’s sll going to rest on Rue and Kilarra. None of my spells are useful ( since I’m focused on protecting Rue from enchantment spells) and none of my hexes will work against it because it’s immune. Same thing goes for the swarms that it’s going to create as well that we cannot ruin without water attacks. So if we fight, pressure is in them to take it down basically solo - and I don’t know if we can beat it’s DR.

Talia, you've got Misfortune, right? That's not a mind-affecting effect.

Also, I've got a swarmbane clasp, if I get up close to deal with the worm's death... whatever.

I think we start off with bows and arrows, then deal with it in melee as necessary. That DR 15 is nasty, though. I don't suppose anyone's got a spear?
