Considering most of your spells I really hope we wont need you to unleash them inside LOL

I figured that, if she had to, she could use Flare inside to try to get people's attention ^^ Save the damaging stuff for if they don't listen and the bouncers are having trouble.

I have a question about the Prestige Points.
I have the faction guide. IN there is says

Spoiler:

20 TPA, 20 CPA: Acquire the Silver rank and a silver Consortium badge. The character selects one location (typically a settlement at least the size of a small city) as his base of operations and gains a +2 bonus on Appraise, Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Knowledge (local), and Knowledge
(nobility) checks regarding that location and its trade interactions (this bonus can stack with the +4 bonus on one check listed on page 55). The character now reports to a Gold agent (who may be in the city or in another location). He can give orders to any lower-ranked Consortium agent in his base of operations, even those reporting to other Silvers (though abusing this ability can lower his TPA if it interferes too much with the Consortium’s plans there). He may live a
wealthy or extravagant life at half the normal cost (see page 405 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook). The character may also hire bodyguards (see page 54) at half the normal gp or CPA cost. Each time the character purchases this benefit, he gains another location as a base of operations and gains these benefits there.

Would I be correct in this conversion.
TPA - Fame
CPA - Prestige

Can I spend 20 prestige for this?
I honestly think I want to break away from The Aspis Consortium as I never wanted to join them in the first place. I have to reweave his story anyway, at least the part after the AP. So really what I am asking is can we spend Prestige on the Faction Guide or just the d20 site stuff?

@ Osk
I'm not familiar with the Irorium, and what you're referring to.
Can you provide a link?

@ Cedany
Yes, you can use hero points later to get contacts.

@ Martin
Unless you can get me a (legal) link to the book, I'm going to say no. I don't even know what the Silver and Gold ranks mean, let alone have any way of telling whether or not they're balanced.

PZ09221 Faction Guide

I cannot help you with a legal copy of the book, most of my books are either hard copy or pdf's that my brother gave me. that's not a link to a copy but the book itself. I have a hard copy that I got for a half price at a used bookstore here.

Its mostly RP, Patron-Gold-Silver-Copper-nonmembers. a chain of command type thing. Gold required 50 points. Its the only thing in my pathfinder career that ive ever spent prestige upon.

I do not know if it is legal to cut/paste a whole page from a chronicles book here, if so ill gladly do so, if not no worries.

The Exchange

Male Kelshite Millrite of Sarenrae

Osk's information

Chronicles guilde to Absalom 51/52:

Bronze, Silver, and Gold Sword: In Absalom, those who have established their ability fight may be introduced as a bronze, silver, or gold sword, and bear a small metal pin of matching color. These pins are awarded only by those who have fought a given number of judged matches in the Irorium, the fighting arena of the Foreign Quarter.

While pin owners are often fighting slaves or professional gladiators, it’s not uncommon for guards, mercenaries, adventurers, and even fencing nobles to fight just enough bouts in the Irorium to earn a sword pin as a mark of skill and prestige.

A combatant must win five bouts to earn a bronze sword. While these are by far the most common pins, those wearing them have put their lives on the line at least five times in direct combat, and natives of Absalom
respect that willingness to risk and the skill needed to do so successfully.

A silver sword requires the wearer to win 10 bouts.
A gold sword is only granted to those rare few who win 25 bouts, and the matches must include at leastfive solo duels, five group melees (at least two teams of four or more combatants each), five battles against monsters, and five battles with 10 or more combatants to a side.

The Irorium keeps a list of all those who have earned a sword pin, and commissions a stone bust of anyone earning a gold sword. As a result, it’s very uncommon for anyone in Absalom to claim a pin they have not earned, as such honors are easily checked, and many true pin owners
become irate with those who falsely bear the awards.

These pins are taken seriously by the social powers of Absalom, and give one the same respect and deference as a minor noble or master craftsman. Someone carrying a gold sword is treated with the deference of a major-general or duke, and rarely has to ask people to clear a path for him in the streets. By contrast, calling someone a “platinum
sword” is actually an insult, since no such pins exist, and suggests the insulted target is a braggart who lies about (or at least greatly aggrandizes) earned accomplishments.

Its in the titles section of the book.

Scarab Sages

I don't think that's legal, no. So that content is out.

The Exchange

Male Kelshite Millrite of Sarenrae

Fair enough. Its tricky figuring out whats legal and not with copyright stuff. I run an AP in pbp and can just cut paste from that book without any worries, but all the scores of others books I wonder about so tend not to cut and paste or copy it out.

What books beyond core mechanics do you have Eragar?
That way we know where we can pull info from.
I see your a PFS DM, that give you access to any of the Chronicles or assorted "fluff" books as ive heard them called?

Scarab Sages

I have the Pathfinder Field Guide, and any Open Content stuff you can link to me online.

The irorium can be found here:

http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Irorium

Basically contestants get awarded pins of brozne, silver or gold swords based on achievement. Gold swords have crazy requirements and mark you as almost noble in Absalom while silver and bronze still mark respected contestants. Bronze would mean Osk has won five bouts.

Chronicles guide to Absalom is good book that is where I got that from. Obviously golarepedia does a great job coallating that stuf in a way Paizo approves. Im honestly surprised they dont have an article on the trials, but i'm on a phone so it inhibits my searching.

The Exchange

Male Kelshite Millrite of Sarenrae

How do you tell whats open content or not? I don't want to link or send you something that's not unintentionally? I have most of the PDF's about two thirds have his name/email in them, the other third do not. Ive never searched for the stuff, cuz I didn't know where to look, all the ones, even digital that I have my bro gave me last summer.

Edit: didn't know about that site, thank you. ill see if can find anything specific for ya, at pc atm.

Scarab Sages

It will tell you at the end of the pdf. Basically, if you can find it online for free, it's safe to bet it's open content.

@ Osk
Having a bronze pin is fine for that Initiate thing.

Scarab Sages

I probably won't be on again until tomorrow late morning. Night all.

The Exchange

roger that. taker easy.

I am going to build a little offsite place for myself, using the room/team buy prices.

Cedany needs a reason to care for the shiny guy. Perhaps you get your grain from me, and I went with one of the drivers to on the first shipment, saw that you were in need of some repairs. left came back with some supplies and laborers and went to work fixing up the place for you.. You come into work one day to that sight?

Sleep well! I need to deal with something soon too.

Wizard - Bladesinger/6; AC: 16 (20BS); HP: 32/32; Init: +4; Perc: +3; Bladesong Used 0/2; Spell Slots Used 1st 4/4, 2nd 2/3 3rd 0/3

Happy New Year to all!

Did not see the actual number of laborers associated with the figure. I retract my desire for more laborers, and I think that 5-8 ladies of the night will work nicely for our establishment.

I am assuming that the name will be The Spirit Gallery. If you have any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Let's get these characters completed even if you do not have everything purchased that you require regarding prestige points or hero point usage. We can always address that in the discussion thread once we are "In Game". I know how fun it is to build characters, but I would rather we focus on getting to a point where Eragar can get us started.

Don't know who's left with anything left to do, I'm calling Cedany finished unless there's any mistakes anyone spots. I've got about a 1000gp left over, but it can either go towards tavern enhancement or be kept for emergencies (I'm fine contributing to Osk's book costs as well).

Since Labourers come in teams of 5, I don't know if it's easier to administer if a team of 5 is allocated to "personal entertainment".

Male Lightfoot Halfling HP:79/79 | AC:21 | HD: 8/8 | INIT: +5 | SAVES: STR +0/ DEX +5/ CON +3/ INT +2/ WIS +2/ CHA +0

I still have a bit of spending to do in terms of gold and prestige points. However, none of it should make too big of a difference right out the door. Gold expenditures include mundance items and perhaps some minor magical purchases like potions. Prestige point expenditures would be whether or not I choose to have him be an initiate for more than one group. I was kind of thinking about making him an initiate of a bardic college and of a thieves' guild.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I think I am done at this point. I need to update my character sheet to reflect the fame/prestige stuff and I need to get a final sense of how much cash I need to through at the inn to cover our desires like the library and magic book.

Scarab Sages

I still need a contact from Harrison, and I need to go over Martin's and Harrison's stats (about to do those right now).
I think my other friend will come in a little bit later, so we'll be starting pretty soon.

Small Pier:

This would put me in charge of a single pier in the docks district, almost on the border between The Puddles and The docks District. This pier is used mostly for unloading of grain or small supplies.

There is a pair of silo' that are both 5 storage units high.
As well as a small warehouse that is 2 storage units beside each other.
That warehouse also has an office and common room where a team of bureaucrat's oversee the loading/unloading to make certain that everything is to code as well as team of laborers to work the docks themselves.

There is one heavy wagon pulled by 2 camels for moving larger orders around. There are five carts as well each with a laborer to pull them for smaller orders around town.

There are five guards to protect everything, in the shadier parts of town a couple guards may escort a single cart to get the shipment through safely.

Lastly there is statue of Sarenrae made entirely of glass on the shore side of the pier. When the sun crests over the highest of the Precipice and shines down upon it shines forth like the sun over the desert sands.

Boss: I did look through the all the posts before I did these teams/building/rooms. You said we could purchase downtime stuff at full market value so I bought it all at the GP values listed for it all.

Story behind it:

It is certainly not the career choice that Martin would have preferred or made on his own. He would much rather have a forge, or a stable so that he can start to get back into his fathers good graces.

When martin came to this city of Absalom from the Expanse, he was returning along side of the soul survivor of the Pathfinder's Expedition. Her name is Rachael Gaatan

Now the Venture Captain was alive because martin planted his tower shield on the far side of him and allowed the Halfling cleric Nillard to channel Sarenrae's light to save the captain's life. at the time he was wearing no insignia, we had no clue her rank simply that she was alive and serpentmen were trying to sacrifice her.

She invited me back to stay with her at her fathers friends house where she was staying within the Merchant's Quarter. It was the house of one Lady Nymara. I had never heard of her, but father never spoke of women for anything other then breeding purposes. so that really did not mean much at all.

The grounds were much, much more extensive then I was expecting. I had assumed it would be perhaps a bunk or a flat. The grounds are extensive it was a couple of adjoining mansions connected by greenhouses and gardens, even a pair of parade grounds.

I was in shock, I hadn't even had time to properly groom myself or purchase a robe more fitting for Not being inside of a filthy jungle. We went straight there.

It turns out that she.. She is the adopted daughter of Emir Thalzar Gaatan. Who was sitting at a table with non other then Aaqir al'Hakam. Who is from Katheer, as am I. He dined many times at my fathers table, I should know I served the wine. He simply raised an eyebrow at me when I was introduced as Martin Acai.

As the she told them our story, the Emir became quiet. You see her expedition was betrayed from within, one of the members had been killed and replaced by a skin walker. We found the body in the bottom of a large barrel of lantern oil, it confused my party greatly as there was not even a single track upon the ground to show what had happened.

The whole time she was talking, I was trying to make myself as inconspicuous as possible. But when one is covered from head to foot in Azlanti style Mithril armor and bearing a large tower shield of the same, that is surprisingly difficult to accomplish.

As she was speaking she laid my journals, rubbings, maps, notes everything upon the long table. The Emir and Aaqir were silent as they walked around the table examining everything.

I had no clue what to expect. This is not what I wanted at all.

The Emir walks up and kisses me on the lips in thanks for returning one of the three things he cares most about in the world. He says. "You are welcome to stay here as long as you need. Thank you Martin." Before turning to Rachael for a tearful embrace.

Aaqir approaches me catching my eyes. "Martin is it? I know a few members of the society, if you will trust me with these I will do everything within my power to grant you admittance without having to spend three years moping floors."

"Martin, this" He gestures at the table then continues in a low voice "is more then your Father has ever done in the sake of knowledge, he cares only about his racehorses everything else is a means to them for him. This shows that you are not his son. Fear not I will not tell him."

Still much in shock, Martin simply nods and sits down in a chair.

Later that night, I was wandering the estate and found some men in a room playing cards that invited me to join. It was an expensive buy in, the smallest chip was 100gp. I bought 10 chips, I had a small ruby in my pouch. I had a good streak of luck, I had turned my small ruby into almost 3500 gold, after about four hours, I was down to a single chip a couple of times.

As the game broke up, one of them offered me a deal. He had ended up with some property that he no longer desired. He would be wining to trade me my 35 chips for this small pier, warehouse and grainary, even supply the men to work it for me.

It has been a week now, I wonder if that whole card game was staged. I have a cot in the office where I have been sleep. I thought about trying to sell it and get a forge or glassblowing shop but I figure one job is as good as any here. I have got a new order going up this inn that opening over in the Ivy District, I think that I will ride with and see what that place is all about.

Cedany,

If my purchases are approved. I revised it and added the downtime stuff to it without PMing it first to our GM. I would like to add it in its entirety to the Inn you own, turn it over to the party. Ill manage it RP wise, but consider it my donation to the inn.

Each week this stuff will add the following:

Dock add +12GP/12 Goods/12 Labor
Dock warehouses add +2GP
Grainery adds +20GP
Commonroom adds +7gp/7 Influence
Statue adds +1GP/1 Influence
Bureaucrats add +4GP/4 Influence
Driver adds +2GP/2 Goods/2 Labor
Laborers add +2GP/2 Labor each x2
Guards add +2GL/2 Influence/2 Labor

+44 GP with the potential of making upto +14 Goods or +18 Labor or +14 Influence or some combination there-of each week.

Of course would have to pay half the market price to make anything other then shiny gold coins.

Edit: If the boss doesnt want to deal with two physical locals for the party property then I will simply donate 3400GP to your inn, in trade for a room for me within indefinitely.

Seeing as it's New Year's Eve, I will not be finishing up Harrison until tomorrow when I actually make it home to sit down and get everything do together while doing other things. However, you can safely assume I will be putting a bare minimum of 1,000 gp towards the inn, whether part of that is for the book or not is fine with me. Depending on how much you want to save Osk, you could take the remainder of what is owed and split it in half. That way Harrison and Cedany can go in equally on the rest of it.

Yeah, camels are large so one of them is enough to pull the wagon.

Keep in mind that each cart needs two of your laborers to pull it. Not sure if you had factored that in.

I'm about to send everyone a pm with the stuff they know about their contacts. I'll be making a perception and sense motive check for each contact, so you might know more about one than another.

I did, figured the guards, former laborers themselves were sorta like the overseers for the cart runs. so would be 2x laborer + 1 guard + variable 0-4 guards+me depending how seedy the area is.

Which would at times leave the docks undefended. but realistically 5 guardsmen are not REALLY going to something anything major. a big assult on the warehouse will probally end in the guards being slain. But if I am there.. I have a small armory in my quiver.

If all the carts and wagon are out with me or a guard each, that would leave just the bureaucrats on the docks.

Nobody has a place to stay(on me) that I employ beside my cot.

However, if you would like some input from my side, I would say that it might be nice to have the gossip be from a bardic college or thieves' guild. Does anyone happen to know if there is any information of established bardic colleges and thieves' guilds in Absalom?

I think that Ive gotten my character sheet all squared away, just need to copy the stuff from the Dock. Im going to triple check that I write down the correct bonuses and such for each of the buildings. But it will be edited in in the spot that says [/spoiler] right above appearance.

Also I need to spend my prestige points, I should have that done by noon central for both.

Edit: I forgot I never replied about the Teamwork Feat. My intention with it was to add some flavor with it being very situational. I did have it the first time around, but everyone in the party spent our 3rd level feats on it. Then our party cleric decided to become an Inquisitor, so we had it twice. So it was a wasted feat then because of solo tactics. So I am going to recommend that nobody else get that teamwork feat.

My intent is to eventually enter the inquisition, as a player I have no clue what level I will do that at. maybe 6th maybe 7th, but its something Martin feels called towards. The very first party purchase he made as treasurer was portable altar to Sarenrae.

in 9 months of gaming, martin did not fail to become near-death at least twice a gaming session, even with his armor class being over 30, he got clobbered.. we rolled for HP.. I would a 1. the highest hp roll as a warrior I ever got was 2.

Alright, so I do believe Harrison is complete mechanically besides a few minor details. I think the to do list includes the following:

  • Update profile to include background information.
  • Update profile with contact information once given.
  • Update profile with circumstance bonuses under the Skill Modifiers area.
  • Update profile with a name of the organizations (Bardic College and Thieves' Guild) that he is a part of.

Similar to the Pathfinder Chronicle books, I created a few M. Tools for Harrison to use. They follow the M. Tool entry from the Core Rulebook.

Hmm...an assassin's guild is not really an option for him. He's still Neutral Good. Pickpockets would probably closer to his tempo.

Does the Pathfinder Society have it's own Bardic College?

The Exchange

its The biggest university on the planet.. I would assume so.

There are a couple specific bardic colleges mentioned, I just have to find the right book to get the names & district/locations correct.

Ill tell ya what books I got them from, so you look things over if you happen to have them also.

That is a good point. Plus, most Venture Captains tend to have some levels in Bard.

Also, I do have a lot of the books. I've just not had the time to comb through them for information pertaining to this character lately.

Oh and my direct investment into the "The Spirit Gallery" came out to be 1,000 gp. No more, no less. So whether part of this was used for the book or not if up to Osk and Cedany.

Pathfinder Field Guide:

This is what I found poking through here.

Ivy District
The Ivy Playhouse: Thespians from all over the world dream of performing upon the stage of Absalom’s Ivy Playhouse. The theater’s host, Alain Always, is also master of the Street Performers and Actors Guild, which houses itself in the playhouse. Members of the guild pay a fee for the license required to perform at all but the shoddiest of the city’s venues, and rumors speak of grim punishments meted out to performers who violate the guild’s bylaws.

The White Grotto: Absalom’s premiere bardic school is situated in a large manor house with several outbuildings and secluded rock gardens, with a winding creek meandering through the grounds. Students garb themselves in white accented with a color denoting rank (green for apprentices, blue for journeymen, and black for masters). Five conservatories teach dedicated courses on voice, drum, string, pipe, and script. The white-garbed virtuosos of the grotto are often invited to entertain at exclusive social functions in the highest echelons of
Absalom society, making enrollment here an excellent cover for Pathfinder activity.

Puddles
The Stilt House: The Grand Council has all but given up on the Puddles, placing it under the administration of a one-man district council named Haigen Topkick. This scheming figure also runs the district’s informal city watch and its inf luential Salvagers’ Guild, which gets a cut of all treasures scavenged here.

Siege Castles
Pyramid of the Dog: Situated on the beach south of Shoreline, with easy access to the Puddles, the Pyramid of the Dog is one of the closest siege castles to the city walls. The decrepit structure is fashioned from four battered, ancient siege towers, three of which have collapsed inward toward the largest, forming a huge wreck. The Pyramid has had many inhabitants and many names over the centuries, but the name used now derives from its current “owners,” a ruthless criminal gang known as the Warhounders.

Guide to Absalom
This just really has more specific details.
I thought id read about a pickpocket guild, but no I didn't see one. Id say locate them in puddles, merchant, ivy or dock districts.

Hmm...I might be better off going with the Pathfinder Society as opposed to an outright thieving guild. As for the bardci college, those are some nice choices. Makes me tempted to pick up a second bardic college.
