Caspian Barefoot |

"Somebody get a bonfire between this one and the other one!"
Caspian assumes the Kelgan would throw one of his better alchecmical fires between them and the other drake....
Kirth
I am assuming a longish range one where a fire and then the pyrotechnics spell can delay the onslaught of beast number 2.....

Kirth Gersen |

Ooh, that's a thought -- using the fireworks option of pyrotechnics on a burning firebomb to hopefully blind the thing. The only potential issue is that the blinding option affects a 120-ft. radius, which is further than you can throw a firebomb. Caspian could sling it that far, easily, but then he wouldn't have time to use the spell on it that round.

Cricket the Sexy Goblin Druid |

Cricket lets off an entangle.
As near as I can tell, Sacred Beastie rushed up, knocked Jaegr back 10', is close to Kelgan and Tsarok. Cricket is 15' back from that, I don't remember where Caspian is, and Wyvs is somewhere in back of the beast, being sneaky. Cricket attempts to place the entangle so that it gets the Beastie from behind and, hopefully, none of the PCs, but I might catch Wyvs. Alas.
DC 14

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

Jaegr sees the second beast coming and attempts to end this one as quickly as possible Not doing Stone stance in case this one dies. If he does will move over to the other one as closely as I can without drawing an AoO
Power Attack and Combat Expertise with Crushing Blow with Inspiration vs large: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 21 Ignore 2 Points of opponent's Armor Bonus

Kirth Gersen |

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
The monster, trampling even the tall sedge grasses, ignores Cricket's well-placed spell (Caspian is 15 feet back, inspiring, so he's OK).
Kelgan's turn (probably not going to use burning hands, I'd guess), then Jaegr.
A reminder: multiple stances don't work together unless you have Stance Mastery. I'm trying to remember if Combat Expertise is still a stance -- I know I originally wrote it as one. I'll look it up when I get home.

Caspian Barefoot |

Cricket attempts .... gets the Beastie from behind...DC 14
Caspian reconsiders since there is not enough time to use that this time he hopes Crickets entangle might allow them to reposition and do that....
Continues to inspire and hopes the first drake goes down before the second can arrive.....

Kelgan Cragbelly |

Ok, I know I'm guilty of posting early, just wanted to confirm I understand what's happened this round. So the firebomb Wyvern threw didn't seen to bother it, Jaegr is still knocked back and has only taken an AoO, there is an entangle around it, Caspian is singing, and another Drake has appeared. Neither of Jaegr's two posted attack round have happened yet, so the Drake is only slightly wounded.
Kelgan was prepared to unleash fire, but seeing the drake shrug off the firebomb changes his mind. He swings his glaive, looking to drop the drake before its mate arrives.
Glaive: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 141d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
He will still harry the drake's legs to give Jaegr defense.
Attack, spend AoO to give Jaegr +2 AC/CMD vs next attack.

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

You are correct it is a stance. Sorry about that I totally forgot about it. For my first stance it would have been Combat Expertise and I would stay in that stance for my last posted attack.

Wyvurn |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Heh, RPI was where I thought I wanted to go for undergrad--probably around the same timeframe. Then I visited Vanderbilt in the early spring....
Wyvurn will attempt to flank with Jaegr or Kelgan, harrying the creature's opposite flank.
Deep Crystal Sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 281d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + (4, 4) = 15 Channel 1st level ki power
Unarmed: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 181d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Use Daze ki power DC 13

Kirth Gersen |

Round 2 so far:
1. Wyvurn tossed bomb
2. Cricket tried to entangle
3. Another drake appeared
4. Kelgan sliced with glaive
Kelgan's blow has heavily wounded the monster.
Next:
5. Jaegr, you're in a position to finish off the first drake, if you want me to keep your last post. Otherwise you can reconsider.
6. Dragon(s) act
7. Caspian
8. Tsarok
9. Wyvurn's flanking sword attack can happen, unless things have changed too much by then (they probably will have).

Kirth Gersen |

The first drake, being dead, is unable to act. Its mate trumpets in rage and runs towards you. Instead of applying a burst of speed, however, it stops 50 feet away and spits, creating a cloud around Jaegr, Kelgan, Wyvurn, and Tsarok.
Acid Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 5) = 16 ; DC 17 Reflex half.
The 10-ft. radius cloud around you counts as obscuring mist, limiting visibility to 5 ft. for everyone except Tsarok, whose mist sight allows his gaze to pierce the fog.

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Jaegr awaits the new dragon but instead gets hit by the caustic cloud. He manages to avoid the worst of it, but his vision get impaired by the lingering cloud
How big is the cloud or is there a separate cloud for each of us? I was hoping we were spread out some after I had moved

Tsarok of the Summer Storm |

Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Tsarok coughs and chokes as the poisonous gases spread over them, but he manages to seal his nose-holes just in time and hold his breath through the worst of it.
Kirth - when it's my turn, could I use my actions to help guide the others out of the caustic fog? Shouting out which way is the quickest way out or some such.

Kirth Gersen |

How big is the cloud or is there a separate cloud for each of us? I was hoping we were spread out some after I had moved
There's one cloud that's 10 feet in radius, or 20 feet across, which is the maximum span of your movement. Considering the first dragon knocked you back away from the pond, moving towards the second monster actually brings you back past the rest of the party again.

Kirth Gersen |

Caspian is now sanctuaried, and he maintains his inspiration on the others.
Tsarok moves 5 feet, beelining out of the fog, and calls to the others as a free action to help them get their bearings so they don't emerge in some random direction. He can still make an attack or cast a spell; That will end round 2.
After that, Wyvurn is up, starting round 3.
Then Cricket, then Kelgan, then Jaegr, then the second drake, if it's still alive.

Tsarok of the Summer Storm |

Eldritch Blast (Ranged Touch; +2 inspiration): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 = 15
Damage (Electricity; +2 inspiration): 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 = 7
Too busy gulping down the fresh air and trying to guide his new comrades out of the caustic fog to do much else, Tsarok barely has time to do anything but fire off a hasty and poorly-aimed spittle of electricity the way of the remaining su-nath-yee.

Tsarok of the Summer Storm |

Oh, hmm. In that case I'll draw another dart...
Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
... as a move action.

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

Jaegr will move towards where he last saw the creature and getting its attention once he gets closer (Double move that way) "Come get me beastie! I killed your mate"

Kelgan Cragbelly |

Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Kelgan reaches out and shoves Tsarok behind the shield, protecting the lizard.
Made my save, with evasion, so no damage from my part. Spending AoO to take all Tsarok's damage.
While the sorcerer blasts away at the Drake, Kelgan growls in frustration.
"Let us get out of this caustic cloud, Rock."

Wyvurn |

Wyvurn will move out of the cloud towards Tsarok. When he emerges he will take a quick survey of his surroundings and attempt to hide amongst the undergrowth somewhere between the second drake and the heavy hitting dwarves.
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Going to assume that is two move actions and thus ending my turn. Would like to try and slash the drake on the way by if it charges past me.

Kirth Gersen |

The drake's sight, attracted to movement, still fails to register Wyvurn's deceptively awkward-looking flat-footed shuffle, which nonetheless moves him at a fast clip across the landscape. Some 30 feet in advance of his original position -- within 20 feet of the monster -- the hobgoblin ducks behind some rocks and grass, 5 feet from the straight-line path the drake would follow on a charge, waiting to slash it as it leaves his threatened area.

Caspian Barefoot |

Caspian is happy to see the flaming sphere and realizes that maybe he should one day have a long talk with that goblin about how flaming sphere is a spell that might make for a good combo with pyrotechnics....
as well as how far his allies might want to be away from it when it goes off....
Continues to inspire and watch the ranges carefully......

Kirth Gersen |

The dragon seems slightly annoyed with the ball of fire, while Kelgan gets out of the acid cloud and adopts a protective attitude in front of Tsarok. Meanwhile, Jaegr trots forward 40 ft., stopping 10 ft. in front of the monster with his pick held ready to strike.
The dragon, eager to confront this brazen display, takes a step forward and attacks!
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 191d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 251d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Thankfully, Jaegr's new ceramic armor seems proof against the monster's fangs, and he is able to dodge the tail that tries to get a grip on him.
Caspian's up, then Tsarok.

Jaegr "Knock Knock" |

Now I have a picture of Jaegr yawning while the dragon is all fierce and raking at him
Jaegr manages to hold off the dragon's attacks from landing but at the cost of his attack connecting. Cursing he prepares himself for another round of attacks.
Power Attack with Crushing Blow in Stone Stance: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 2 = 10 Ignore 2 Points of opponent's Armor Bonus
Damage: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Temporary Hit Points: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8

Kirth Gersen |

Tsarok's turn.
Then Wyvurn (starting round 4),
then Cricket (I'm assuming he'll hit the drake with the flaming sphere again),
then Kelgan,
then Jaegr misses with his pick, as posted above.
If the dragon is still alive after all that, it can writhe all over Jaegr some more!

Wyvurn |

Wyvurn will attempt to tumble into position to flank with Jaegr. He will channel his ki in both his sword and fist.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Deep Crystal Sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 191d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + (1, 2) = 15
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 301d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Daze DC 13

Kirth Gersen |

The monster snaps at this new threat;
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 201d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Your dazing attack is a [strike] and normally activates only on a single standard action attack, or on a crit if you have Critical Focus, etc. If it's any consolation, it wouldn't have affected the drake anyway.

Kirth Gersen |

Appearing seemingly out of nowhere, Wyvurn dodges a nasty bite as he closes. He connects with his sword and follows up with a tremendous blow of his fist. (My roll to confirm and for extra damage for your unarmed crit seems to have been eaten by the PostMonster, but it was a 19 (hit) and 8 more damage. Woot!)
The monster is visibly injured.

Kelgan Cragbelly |

My last post was just my reflex save and associated action versus the Drakes breath. Here's what I'd like to do in round 3.
Kelgan follows the shaman out of the acidic fog, then curses.
"Damn. Forgot my steelband. Be right back."
Taking a deep breath, Kelgan darts back into the poisonous cloud, casting about for his crossbow - unwilling to let it get eaten like the grass.
10' out of the cloud, then 10' back to where I dropped the crossbow. Reflex vs another round of damage.
Reflex with evasion: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25

Tsarok of the Summer Storm |

Tsarok is pretty amazed to see Jaegr apparently impervious to the su-nath-yee's fearsome jaws. That seemed like a feat that no mortal being uninspired by the wisdom of the Great Spirit could ever achieve. He feels suddenly vindicated by his decision and luck to select these people in his mission, obviously blessed by the spirits that they were...
Of course, he's too busy being in awe to pay much attention to what he's doing, and his electrified dart sails harmlessly into a clump of reeds.
Dart: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (3) + 2 + 2 = 12

Cricket the Sexy Goblin Druid |

True, but you've got to admit it's pretty cool to have the dragon all trying to coil around Jaegr and bite him to death, and he just stands there like it's no big deal.
I have to admit that I had to look up Jaegr's character sheet when I saw that 25 didn't hit him!
