Kalima says to the others, "I believe we have travelled far enough for today. We should look around for a secure campsite and get some rest for the evening. Hopefully the other bandits are still ignorant of what happened to their partners in crime."
Evard d'Garess
What sort of area are we in? is this a good place to bunk down and hide out?
"I am willing to rest here, although a moment to look around to see if there is a better area to find a camp," Evard says with a nod, and looks around

The party search the area, it appears to be very clear and open for miles around.
this is the best place you are gonna find to camp in this square you will have to travel further if you wanna camp somewhere with cover. Is anyone gonna do anything before bed and are you all gonna sleep together have or have someone on watch? Is someone is on watch can you say who is on watch when and roll some perception checks please
Kalima Raustald

Kalima merely sleeps the night and does not participate in the watch. She is rather tired from this day's travel and not a very perceptive person to begin with. In case she needs to do a perception check it is below.
perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
Evard d'Garess
"Kalims can sleep. The Arcanists tended to need sleep to use their powers. the rest of us can each take a shift keeping watch? I can take the last shift in the hours before dawn for I need not light to see. If we rest early we can rise at first light and begin to make our way once again."
"Lialda, have you further Healing Magic for I still suffer rather grievous wounds? And when do you commune with your goddess?" Evard asks with reverence toward the priestess. The caution with which he spoke to Lialda previously has faded as he comes to an understanding of Lialda's faith in Calistria.
I'm down to crash here and keep watch in the darkest hours of the night.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Robert Jones-DM-King Maker
1d100 ⇒ 34
1d100 ⇒ 52
The night passes quietly without incident, the group rises and packs up their things ready to set on it's another clear day and they can see for miles around, they can see open plains all around then except for some trees a couple of miles to the north west.
continuing to track Raegun?

Kalima gets up from sleeping away the long night and quickly uses prestidigitation to clean off the grime of the outdoors and the bugs that she likely picked up from sleeping on the ground.
"I so hate sleeping out in the wilderness. So much dammed filth and horrible bugs crawling all over you. No matter, that is what magic is for I believe. We should continue on our way my travelling companions. We still have to find the rest of those bandits and give them the what for."
Robert Jones-DM-King Maker
I'll say Lialda healed all your hps back last night
The party packs up their stuff and moves out the day begins to get hotter and hotter as they search for both their companion and the bandits
1d100 ⇒ 38
As the party continue south they are suddenly startled to see a massive claw reaching for the clouds but as they draw close they notice that I fact it is a massive lightening struck oak tree. Happy for some shade the party decided to takes a shirt breaker here since it is the only tree and shade for miles around.

Survival Check: 1d20 ⇒ 18
While not a survivalist by any degree Kalima does know how to follow a map to some degree as well as identifying landmarks so gives her suggestions of where to go in their travels.
"Indeed heading south would seem the best choice. You should keep your eyes out for distinguishing natural landmarks that stand out. Those often are used as waypoints for travellers, including bandits."
Robert Jones-DM-King Maker
Darruth opens the chest inside is a makeshift acid trap with a single bottle of acid there is also a heavy leather cloak. Darreth unrolls the heavy leather cloak and finds a hidden cache that consists of a masterwork dagger, a wooden stick, a silver ring and a book that has been soaked through by the water that has leaked into the chest.
Evard d'Garess
"Darruth, perhaps it would be predent to let Kalima or Lialda take a look at that ring, in case it's more than just a pretty trinket? and the stick too?" Evard says, glancing at the ladies, recallin that most arcanists and elves are skilled with determining magical qualities of objects.

Kalima says, "I will take that book and see if it can be salvaged.
She takes the book and uses prestidigitation to dry the book out and then carefully open the book and reads what is inside for clues.
As for the ring she says, "I may be able to identify the properties on that ring. Let me take a look at that.
Kalima Raustald

Kalima casts Detect Magic on the items and then if they detect magic tries to identify them.
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Ring
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Stick
Robert Jones-DM-King Maker
You need to cast detect magic and make spell raft check to identify the stick
You need to cats rad magic to read the book
Where you off now then guys? Which direction south?
Kalima Raustald
|
Kalima looks at the book and can tell it is magical text and says, "It appears to be arcane text but as I have innate magical power I cannot read or cast any spells in this book. As for the stick it appears to be magical. It is probably a wand but as for what spell is stored in it or the command word I do not know."
Evard d'Garess
"We can attempt to ascertain the wand's nature later, then. Let us continue on south and continue exploring. Mayhaps we can locate another mage that makes use of this book-magic."
Evard agrees on going south and keeps track of their progress
survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

"Just eat it and quit you whining" you hear another voice respond. "Fine...Wait what the f*$# is that..." You hear one of the men scream moments later the two men run up the bank towards the party they pause for a brief second and stare at Kalima. Then they carry on running, they are swiftly followed by an elephantine centipede scurrying after them, its double tail lashing angrily behind it.

Kalima quickly moves behind the two fighters and says, "I will summon something to slow it down."
She chants in a celestial language and a bright furred dog appears in front of her. (Summoning a Dog with the Celestial template)
The dog growls and immediately rushes the creature that is pursuing the two men.
Evard d'Garess
Evard positions himsels so that, in order to approach any viable targets, the creature must move through his reach and takes the opportunity to swing with his Bardiche
Reach AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Whenever his turn comes Evard will again attack the Centipede again wiht his Bardiche
Bardiche: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
crit confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
