Cuetzpalli
Cuetzpalli issues forth a low bestial growl at the druid's description. "Not if I can help it."
Dungeon Kobold
"When the moon is full, return. Your friend will be waiting here for you."
The moon is currently a bit past half. It will be six days before the moon is full.
While we're at it, some useful info: It is the 28th of Coldeven (March's equivalent), Year 595. The Greyhawk campaign utilizes a 12 month calendar system with each month having 28 days. This is Day Eight of the campaign—on the 21st of Coldeven, you set out for the Whispering Cairn.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Will he take the bows in place of the gold?
"Six days and she'll be alive again? You can do it that quickly?" Tanith asks.
Dungeon Kobold
"Servant of Kord, were the need great and the materials present, I could do it in ten minutes."
Nogwier spends a few seconds coughing, then continues. "Now, you should know *cough* that she won't exactly be...the same. I don't exactly know *cough* what happens with her kind, but ours is not the crude resurrection of the clerics. She will be reborn. Her mind will be the same, as will her memories...but her body will be changed."
The bows are worth too little to cover the cost of the oils, unless you cough up five of them.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
I thought you said 2000g worth of stuff? Those 3 bows were on top of the Pearl of Power.
High on the joy that Carina would be returned to him, Tanith misses most of the details about her return.
"Thank you!" he shouts as he grabs the ancient man in a crushing embrace.
Dungeon Kobold
The Pearl of Power covered their "practical" needs. I posted saying now you just needed to give them something to pay the bills.
Keep in mind that the original 2,000 gp figure was generous—you actually need a sale value of 1,280 to cover the bill (or 2,560 base price). You're still getting a discount now, in fact.
Also, I think you're using the greataxe price—those longbows are only 300 gp, not 320.

Damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7...
Just kidding.
Nogwier gives a weak squeak as the goblin helps him squirm out of Tanith's grip.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
After being forcibly removed from the old man, the hulking brawler turns back to his companions with his usual hammy grin. "Let's sell off some of the booty and resupply. I want to be able to tell Red things are taken care if when she gets back!"
Let's do some shopping.
Farrukh Al'Khatel
Oh man if the full moon is near we had another, better option (there's an Oil of Reincarnation or some such that lets you roll twice on the Reincarnate table and let the Reincarnate-ee pick the one they prefer if you use it on the full moon).
"Thank you, Nogwier. It really means a lot to us to get Carina back."
Astraden Limhaare
Astraden and Tanith head to Taggin's to sell the main body of the loot. The tallish cleric takes the unclaimed scrolls and buckler first, though.
In all I am taking: The ornate silver dagger, the masterwork buckler, the scroll of sound burst, the unknown scroll (just carrying it for now since it has not been identified), and the scroll of silence. Should we reserve the masterwork light crossbow for Carina?
Farrukh Al'Khatel
Sure.
From what we have all I'm taking is one of the Composite Longbows. I'll buy some arrows for that. Not sure what else I'll buy, if anything, if we each have 1600 gp to play with. Considering getting a Mithral Chain Shirt (if I could find one around here, which now I think of it is unlikely) but I wanna upgrade to Medium armor later so it may be a slight waste of cash to get that now since all it nets me is -1 ACP and +1 AC.
Cuetzpalli
I took a greataxe, a longbow, and lets say 40 arrows. I'm going to save my portion of the cash.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Carina
masterwork light crossbow
1,858.63 gp
Cuetzpalli
mw greataxe
mighty comp longbow +2
1,716.13 gp
Farrukh
mighty comp longbow +2
1,876.13 gp
Robin
2,026.13 gp
Tanith
1,926.34 gp
Astraden
scroll of sound burst
scroll of silence
mw buckler
silver ceremonial dagger
1,748.63 gp
Astraden Limhaare
The silver ceremonial dagger is just a broken blade iirc. I am actually taking the one with the emeralds in the hilt that costs 150 gp, knocking my total down to 1708.63.
That shouldn't affect anyone else's loot though?
After the sale finishes, Astraden heads to the Cuthbertine temple. She nods to the guards. "I'd like to see about purchasing a scroll?"
Gonna try to get a scroll of remove disease.
Dungeon Kobold
The priests aren't especially friendly to the priestess of Olidammara, but she can buy the scroll for the normal price.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Tanith tests the balance of the new poleaxe in hand. His old weapon had served him well be this danger called for the best equipment. The big man happily pays what's asked.
Where were we going to meet up with DC's new character?
Dungeon Kobold
Like I just told Cat, I'm still working that out. It may depend on who gets selected to replace Cow.
Cuetzpalli
Just checking in, ready to return to the mine as soon as the new characters are introduced.
Astraden Limhaare
Roleplay while we wait?
After purchasing the scroll, Astraden heads up the Vein to the Coaching Inn. "Is Alessia in?" she asks the proprietor.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Sure.
Even though his heart was heavy with dread, Tanith follows Astraden toward the Inn. "What are we going to say?"
Astraden Limhaare
"That we'll bring her back. But different. Carina's soul will journey and I doubt that Alessia will frown on that."
Astraden Limhaare
"I mean, I doubt she'll be unhappy with bringing Carina back. Her reaction to Carina's death is another matter."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Not entirely happy about how crazy that sounded, Tanith only nods silently.
I told her I'd keep Carina safe...
Dungeon Kobold
Alessia opens the door, and blinks, seeing the entire group assembled. She's wearing a faded but well-maintained suit of chainmail, along with an equally faded but well-kept haversack. "Good afternoon." She looks the band over, spotting a familiar face. "Ah. Tanith, right? So this must be Carina's...where is my daughter?"
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Tanith's usually jovial features quickly become hard with pain.
"Red's gone. We ran into a crazy-ass cult below the mines and the priest struck her down with his evil magic. I'm sorry Alessia. I couldn't protect her."
Dungeon Kobold
Alessia's eyes widen. Her knees lock. "What? Wh-why would you say something like that?"
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Tanith's heart sinks. The big man takes a step forward. "I'm sorry."
Dungeon Kobold
Alessia stumbles away. "Stay away from me!"
She wrings her hands. "I...I'm sorry. I can't do this. I have to go. I have to go."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
I'm hoping someone else chimes in with the good news.
Astraden Limhaare
"We have a plan, though. There is a spell," Astraden says in apparent earnestness. "It will all be okay."
Dungeon Kobold
Alessia is backing away, her gaze shooting to windows as if she very much wants to leap through one. Her eyes are filling with tears. "A spell? You can't be serious. I h-haven't got anywhere near that kind of power. Or the cash."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Tanith couldn't claim to understand the ritual the druid was planning but he had to say something.
"But the druids do and Nogwier says he can do it. It is expensive but we've gathered a good deal of treasure. I'll give it all up if it'll bring her back."
Astraden Limhaare
"We don't know how it will work for one like her, but . . . we know her spirit will be intact."
Dungeon Kobold
"Both of them?"
Alessia sits down on a nearby chair. Her feet are tapping anxiously.
Dungeon Kobold
After a moment, the priestess bites her lip. "I'm sorry. That sound crazy, but I've long seen Carina's...heritage...as a separate entity. I don't know much about the druids' magic, but if you think it will work..."
Astraden Limhaare
"I don't know. I only heard of the spell once, and the guy who told the story was pretty damn drunk. But if her souls are indeed separate, perhaps the spell will only select one of them?"
Astraden steps into the room, ready to step back out if it seems to make the woman anxious. "What was that heritage? I wouldn't think her devilspawn . . ."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
Tanith's eyes once again glaze over at the talk of mystical heritages and multiple souls.
"Nogwier said we'd have her back in six days. The bastard that killed her is already dead. We're planning to go back and finish off the rest of his damned cult."
Dungeon Kobold
"Carina is descended from a yugoloth." Alessia's tone is flat. "A fiend of Hades. Neither chaotic, nor axiomatic, they are embodiments of cruel self-interest."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
"That doesn't sound like Red at all..."
Dungeon Kobold
"Of course it doesn't." Alessia's eyes flash with irritation. "Your ancestry doesn't define your path. Carina is the most caring person I know, no matter her blood."
Dungeon Kobold
Astraden Limhaare
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Edit: misread as those OUTSIDE.
"Ah, I remember now, the Hextorian priests and guards called her 'spawn of Hades.' But she wasn't like that."
"We should probably get going. I am sorry she died, and I hope we can get her back to you soon. If you need anything until then, let one of us know."
Dungeon Kobold
Alessia slowly gets to her feet. "No, I'm fine. If she is coming back...well, we'll see. Good day."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed
"I'll bring her back", Tanith adds the group prepares to leave. "I couldn't protect her but I'll bring her back to you."
Farrukh Al'Khatel
Farrukh stands around awkwardly, rubbing his neck and trying to get out something that sounds assuring.
"Sorry for your loss. Err, temporary loss, I mean. I'll uh, I'll see you later? Or not."
Astraden Limhaare
"Wanna go get a few beers before we head back in?" Astraden asks, inclining her head at Tanith and the others. "It feels like I haven't eaten in days . . ."
Heading down the Vein to the Feral Dog, which should take us past the Emporium.
