Waiting on Kuruk.
GM Coyote |
I’ll have Kuruk’s botted actions and the enemy round up tonight.
Kuruk Vetrov |
Weird I did not see the update that you were waiting on me and I posted awhile back must not have taken. Casting Expeditious retreat and moving. Will also draw tomahawk on way (bow in one hand axe in other as it is one handed.
will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Handle animal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Huera will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
looks like our buffalo tank is staring at the pretty lights despite my best animal handling efforts.

GM Coyote |
The glittery cloud gets the best of Huera, who stops and becomes fascinated. The Mexica stand and stare.
The party is up.
John Thomas O'Hanallon |
John Thomas walks behind the first of the unmoving Mexica drawing his pistol as he moves.
Even I can't miss this.
He places the gun to the head and performs a coup de grâce.
Crit: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 1) = 10
As soon as the trigger is pulled he winces and mumbles.
"Shouldn't have tried the gun."
Zaranna |
Zaranna stays alert and moves further into the fort, searching--unable to believe that this is all the Mexica in the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
GM Coyote |
The wooden building doesn't show many signs of activity, but there are a few lights visible suggesting occupation in the building.
We can assume the encounter at the stockade is over if the group wishes to proceed to the timber building.
Angus Elphinstone |
'Blast, I cannot believe the rifle misfired.' Taking a moment, Angus quick clears his rifle. He then moves forward toward the gate into the cloud. Calling out "Hey, John or Zaranna, what did you find?"
quick clear is a standard action, 20 ft move. If combat has ended until we move to the building, then Angus will reload his weapons and meet the others there.
fort. just in case: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
moving forward?
Meeting the others at the door, pistol in hand, Angus smiles. "Shall we see if anyone is home? He then opens the door."
John Thomas O'Hanallon |
John Thomas quickly fall in beside Angues.
Got to remember to check those bodies before we leave. May be something of value.
Zaranna |
When you mean assume it is over, do you mean assume that we took everyone down? I don't want to leave any bad guys behind us.
Zaranna calls back to Angus Nothing so far.
GM Coyote |
Angus opens the door and sees a large room, with a throne at one end, likely once occupied by Axlai. Several benches and barrels of supplies line the walls. Four doorways lead out of the room, two on the left, one on the right, and one on the far side of the room.
Yes, assuming everyone was taken down. Given that the Mexica were essentially incapacitated, I didn't especially want to run more rounds of combat that could be automatically resolved.
Zaranna |
Cool; just making sure. Thanks.
Zaranna follows the others into the building, her bow ready.
GM Coyote |
Two Mexica are asleep on their beds, simple wooden affairs and rough cotton blankets. There are several other beds in the room, along with a table, some chairs, and a few barrels of supplies.
John Thomas O'Hanallon |
John Thomas simply nods as Guujaaw speaks. Not being very sneaky he holds his position for this.
Not sure what we are going to do with prisoners but they can work that out.
Zaranna |
Zaranna will look around more and see what else is in here, moving to the back of the room and looking in the next room, still with her bow ready.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Angus Elphinstone |
'Prisoners, to do what with?' Shrugging, Angus turns and says softly, "That's not a bad idea, we can disarm them, burn the fort to the ground and send them on their way with some water and corn. They will have to go back home or survive here with no weapons, supplies or shelter."
He steps away from the door, "You go ahead and tie them up, I'll cover Zarranna." He then steps behind the hunter, supporting her in case there is trouble.
GM Coyote |
Zaranna is able to creep into the room and tie up the Mexica. However, once tied they begin to yell to others in the building.
Zaranna |
That isn't what I was trying to do at all. I ignored the suggestion to tie up the prisoners and went to a different room to look in. If we want to just go with that, okay, but it wasn't my intention.
GM Coyote |
My apologies, I misinterpreted your post. Int hat case, ignore my previous posting. I’m not sure who Angus was intending to tie up the Mexica.
Zaranna |
My interpretation was that he was talking to Guujaaw, but --? I'm just trying to scout the whole place and see what the situation is before taking action.
Kuruk Vetrov |
Soooo part of the reason Kuruk is TN is that he was raised by Apache. Apache are historically rather practical in their tactics regarding sleeping foes.

Sorry, on the map Zarranna had moved further into the building. Angus had gone into the room on the right. I thought that since it was Guujaw's idea to tie them up that Angus would let him, and he would go support Zaranna.
Quietly following Zaranna, Angus, pistol in hand, keeps a keen eye out.
stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Zaranna |
Moved the rest of the party into the building where I imagine they would need to be to do the things they posted, but feel free to change your position if I didn't place you where you intended to be.
My stealth is already posted above, but adding a Perception roll for seeing what there is in the next room.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
GM Coyote |
The door to the room is open, and the room is empty. Two low doors in front directly in front of the group currently stand open, two latrines behind them. There are doors to the left and right.
Zaranna |
Wow. How often do you actually see bathrooms in a game?
Zaranna moves forward to look through the right door, her bow still ready.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Must have tripped over something in the latrine. Bleah.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

Or indoor plumbing in an aboriginal fort in the 1800's :-)
Angus flinches as he see's Zaranna go to a knee, but continues moving with her keeping a keen eye out.

GM Coyote |
The room Zaranna has entered is fairly large, with a double bed, table, and writing desk. Papers lie scattered on the desk and a small shrine of some god sits beside the door.
Zaranna |
Zaranna takes the papers and the shrine (unless it is huge), and checks the drawers of the desk (if any) for anything else that looks important or valuable. Then she comes back out (after however long that takes) and follows Angus.

GM in another game let my favoite utility wizard invent a spell and later an ioun stone called "Private washroom," I also played her as a germaphobe and constantly asked the cleric to cast cure disease after every dungeon.
Zaranna |
That's hilarious. I had an oracle with a death wish once... she was hilarious, and not sure you could top that kind of fun, but I think that a germophobe would come close.
GM Coyote |
The papers are written in Nahuaña, and seem to be a variety of letters, maps, and journal entries, nothing of too much significance. The shrine is too large to easily transport. However, it has several jade symbols of Huitzilopochtli, along with three opals. The two drawers of the desk seem mostly empty, aside from a small bag of cured meat in one. Angus looks into the next room, seeing another simple bedroom. There is nothing of note inside it.
Angus Elphinstone |
'Good, there is no threat in hear, may as well help Zaranna.' Stepping out of the empty rooms doorway, Angus motions to the others he's going in the room wht Zaranna, then starts to help her search the room. "Are we taking this with us now? Or are clearing out the rest of the building first?"
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Zaranna |
Sorry about the OOC comment above not being marked as OOC. I think at the time I assumed I was in the discussion thread. I apologize.
Zaranna gathers up the Jade symbols and the opals, and the bag of cured meat.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
She also sees a weird abnormality in the empty drawer, and finds that it has a false bottom. She takes the maps, and glances at the letter, scanning it quickly to see if it is of import before moving on to search the rest of the building.
When Angus comes in, she shows him the things that she has gathered.
We should check the rest of the building of course she whispers. ... but she still finishes scanning the letter before following him out.
Zaranna |
Sorry to hear that. Hope all is okay.
Zaranna |
After getting the gist of what is in the letter, Zaranna follows Angus, bow ready.
John Thomas O'Hanallon |
Having somewhat lost the thread John Thomas follows along behind those more prone to thinking their actions threw keeping his shield at the ready.
Glad/hope you are feeling better Guujaaw.
GM Coyote |
Angus finds a storeroom. There are several barrels of food and water, along with a few benches. There is a door to the left, along with the one the party has entered from.
My best wishes for a good recovery Guujaw. Glad you’re back.
