Before the mission, Mirabella buys a couple of scrolls of feather fall and packs her dottari uniform.

Mirabella watches in anticipation as Logan attempts to poison the infernal hound. As it becomes clear that the effort has failed, she puts a backup plan she has been developing in motion.

Slipping on her false dottari uniform and disguise cap, she adopts the same gnome persona she used at the Holding House.

Her disguise complete, she whispers to Jack and the others. "I'm going to try a bluff. Be ready to come in guns blazing if it fails." she whispers, doing her best not to betray the terror she feels at the thought of confronting the cerberi on her own.

Steadying her nerves, she sneaks up to the gate, mutters a silent prayer to Shelyn and then burst into the garden, heading straight for the beast.

Speaking infernal, she addresses the three-headed hound in a voice laced with magic.

"Ah, Asmodeus be praised I found you, noble hound of hell! My fellow dottari have found a group of rebels trying to sneak into the mansion to kidnap your master. They are attempting to subdue them on the other side of the house. I suggest you go and help them immediately!"

Suggestion DC 17 Will save or be compelled to carry out the suggestion.

"Well damn, that didnt work out as well as it could have."

She whispered to the others with a frown.

"We might have to...."

She paused mid whisper as the little halfling Mirabella slid into the garden as brazen as you pleased and started to speak to the hound in some dark tongue. She checked her pistol and hefted the stupid club she had found and watched in wonder.

The cerberi looks ready to eat Mirabella as she gets closer, but before she can start to be afraid she feels her magic take effect on the hound, with which it nods it's heads aknowledges the suggestion and starts to run around to the front yard barking loudly.

I'll put you into initiative now as the cerberi will come back once it has checked the front of the house and finds no Dottari or Rebels to engage. Better be quick.

A flood of relief washes over Mirabella as her deception lures the infernal hound away. The feeling is quickly tempered by the realization that the cerberi will soon discover the ruse, and she rushes towards the window.

Once there, she twists her wrist and a scroll falls out of her wrist sheath. Unfolding it, she prepares to cast the spell contained within as soon as she sees the young man in the window.

"Quickly, the hound is gone but it will soon be back. I'll cast a spell on you, so you can jump and float safely down." She calls to the window.

Ready action to cast feather fall from the scroll.

Marquel opens the window to look down at Mirabella, he nods and returns inside, you can hear he gathers somethings and returns to the window with a backpack on. As he feels the spell take hold of him he jumps out and follows a slow fall towards the gate.

Suddenly you hear the cerberi from the front start barking loudly and it comes closer. He comes charging straigt for Mirabella and almosts catches her as she escapes out the gate with Marquel with Jack and Logan slamming the gate in the heads of the cerberi. Not the most stealthy rescue attempt but you get in and out quick, however the dog might be able to rapport what happened here if it's intelligent enough.

"Well done!" Jack tells Mirabella. "Your small stature belies your immense courage!"

To the others he adds, "Well, let's get out of here! Do we lie low or trust in our good fortune to extend a bit longer and take Marquel to the docks immediately?"

Rubbing his stubble and giving a rueful smile, Jack states, "These are the sort of decisions we should make beforehand in the future."

Logan agreed whole heartedly, "Yes we'd better get out of here, before that 'dog' causes any further trouble. I say we head straight to the docks but be prepared for a detour should there be any persuit."

Bicks ducks into an ally and magically changes into dottari uniform. Then starts looking for a tail.

Your return back to the docks is uneventful you don't encounter any patroles and the cerberi doesn't seem to have been locked out of the garden after your escape.

When you return to the Scourge of Belial, Lieutenant Nones moves swiftly into action, hustling you all into the captain’s cabin. Within, the halfling Hopgut plays his violin while Captain Sargaeta sits at his desk, sipping tea and reading poetry by lamplight. He looks up as the you enter, but Marquel speaks first, rushing into Sargaeta’s arms. "Here’s your answer, Cassius!" The two embrace and exchange a tender kiss, Sargaeta actually weeping. "Ah, my darling!" the captain cries. "Marquel, my sweet, impulsive boy!"

The lovers finally part and Sargaeta looks towards you, his eyes awash with gratitude and his stern demeanor for a few moments gone away. "I am truely in your debt for helping me in this selfless request, and I intend to honor my debt! He finishes his tea, then hands the teacup to the Logan "If you would please drop this on the floor. Do not hurl it or anything just let go of it" Logan please roll a d10 and than you all can read the spoiler

After the roll:

The halfling Make-Way picks up the pieces and hands them to Logan. "The fragments of this cup represent the number of favors I owe you." says Sargaeta once the shards are gathered. "Anything—short of outright public treason to the queen—I’ll do for you. Simply write your request on a scrap of paper and use it to wrap a shard of the teacup. Deliver it in person, or perhaps via one of your silver raven trinkets. And know that you have earned a friend tonight.

"Glad to have been of assistance." replied Logan before accepting the teacup. He blinked when requested to drop it and looked questioningly at Sargaeta. When it became obvious he was serious Logan did as he was asked and dropped the teacup which landed on its handle and splintered into half a dozen pieces.

Mirabella blinks in surprise at the touching display of affection between Sargaeta and Marquel.

"Well, I'll be...after all this sneaking and subterfuge, this is just a classic case of lost love. How romantic." she mutters quietly with a smile on her face.

After Logan drops the teacup and Sargaeta explains the significance of the gesture, she adds. "Too bad. We could use some outright public treason to the queen right about now. But as Logan says, it was our pleasure, and I'm sure we can find some other way for you to express your gratitude. Now, if you will excuse us, we have a bit of treason of our own to conduct."

Once everyone are ready, Mirabella suggest they all head back to the inn to discuss their next move.

Another win for Team Bluff and Disguise. I wouldn't be surprised if a certain female gnome dottari made the Most Wanted list sometime soon. I promise, next encounter Mirabella will do nothing but buff all you shooty, stabby types.

Lena smiles as she stands near the door, and watches the reunion. "Something good has come from this." She gives Mirabella a nod. "You my small friend are a brave, and smart woman. It was her preparation and bravery that freed your intended." she says to Sargaeta.

"We will be judicious in the favors we ask. Outright treason wouldn't work anyway. That would bring the whole of the army down on our head. We should continue with subtle where we can. For as long as we can." glancing at some of the louder members of the party.

She moves into the room. "Sargaeta and Marquel I am a priest of Milani. Would you like me to do a bonding ceremony for you or did you have other much grander plans? She smiles. I'm afraid I can't help with an Asmodean ceremony."

Bicks relaxes a little seeing that they have helped some but more importantly have have helped someone for a good cause. Bicks has never really need to be part of the rebellion he did so because he wanted to make the world a little better and today he feels the warms of Desna's light. He let's himself smile a little, prays for their love then immediately focuses him mind on helping more people. He reminds himself 'You must be vigilant'.

"I'm happy to see you together. But I have to ask, Was your relationship known to your father? If so, he may come for you. Sorry to be a downer but I'm trying to ensure your long term happiness and safety ."

With your rescue of me I'm free to start writing again, even if Thrune has outlawed my work in his latest declaration. Know that once things have settled down a little and we had some time to reconnect, the Poison Pen of Kintargo will resume his work and help in what little way I can." You can easily get back to the Tooth and Nail without encountering any patroles. On the next morning you don't really have anything happening for the first time in a while.

You can spend the day listening around town for rumors of anything happening.

Start explorering the Lucky Bones to case it as a possible base of operations.

Jack has heard rumors some days ago about a pair of missing kids taken off the streets. And you've all heard tales of a huge blue dragon flying over the city with the asmodean pentagram on it's chest. Lastly you've heard about an all girl school has closed itself from the public eye. All of these are rumors you don't have anything more than hearsay about.

I think that accounts for all the rumors I've given you so far this book.

She sniffed at the hint and Lena's glance. She wasnt even seeking outright rebellion, just a proper addressing of the most ridiculous rulings of the 'current' mayor. He was doing things cruel and petty and silly just to do them. He ought to have someone bop him in the nose over it.

She did smile at the outcome, very glad to be a part of it. It was at least one good thing to come out of her life so far at least. Her eyes did light up when the young man professed that he was indeed this poisoned pen person.

"Oh man we need a press, you get us your work and we can have runners through out the city doing all sorts of mayham err..chaos... no hmm well we could get it distributed for sure."

Back at the base

"Man lots of things to look into i guess but one thing i uh... dont mind hoping is false is a flying dragon about. I'd definitely need a bigger gun. If you guys can think of anything I'll be in my little workshop working on a gun... maybe i can find a way to make it quieter...you know so I can be more Subtle."

She began nodding to the others, a slight scowl on her face. She didnt know why but she was upset. She knew she was probably being too emotional because her friend was missing but what were they doing? She wasnt sure anymore. Were they a resistance? a revolution? or just a group doing underground protesting? She wasnt sure. Beating metal and rolling it thinner would make her feel better that was for sure though.

Logan nodded his thanks and waited for Jack's report. As he did he couldn't help but wonder what kind of trouble had befallen Lady Mialari Docur. He wouldn't put it past Thrune's thugs to threaten an Elven lady.

Jack doesn't hear anyhting new, all te neighbors he talks to all say the same things. "Lady Docur’s School for Girls closed its doors—the students there are kept under lock and key, and the lady herself isn’t letting anyone in or out. What could she be planning? Makes those rumors that she teaches her students more than just how to excel in the aristocracy take on a new meaning, hmmm?"

Bicks hear something rather interresting as he walks around "The Silver Ravens are attracting all sorts of strange attention—I heard that Thrune even hired a Tian specialist of some sort to help track them down!"

Logan shrugged, something like this was bound to happen, "Hmm a Tian eh? Best keep our ears to the ground, still lets not let that stop us. I think we should try and visit Lady Docur’s School, see if we can get an audience. A delegation of concerned citizens, if you like."

This Tian tracker sounds like someone who could do that sooner rather than later."

Logan wondered if he had any distant relatives at the school, second or third cousins that kind of thing. If so it would give him a legitimate reason to be asking questions...

Bicks can't see anything, as this is a n all girl school the windows are tinted in a darker hue to prevent prying eyes fron looking inside.

Logan doesn't know any relative who ever attented the school, it's reputation as a decent school has declined over the years and doesn't only take in nobles anymore, but girls from different walks of life aswell.

"And I suppose I could also play the part of an accountant, although I don't know why two would be needed. Our Castilian Jeffers did try to drum number tabulation into me but I'm not sure how much of that stuck..." grimaces Logan as he remember the interminable lessons demanded by his family.

The pale dhampier woman made a face at Jack.

"Accountant? of course I can look like an accountant. You sure know how to make a gal feel welcome."

She began sticking her tongue out. She knew what accountants were... she understood their purpose... she was trying to figure out if she had ever seen one. She had always helped her uncle with his books, after all math was her thing and she had, until she met Melly, been the smartest person she knew.

"we should get like a whole closet of disguises. Since we are trying to avoid this Tian person and all."

She added deciding that dressing up like a school teacher would be close enough.

Bicks changes his clothing in to boring but costly looking clothing perfect for a father of a rich kid.

Mirabella says with an exasperated roll of her eyes as she uses her cap to shift into a young gnome woman. She then proceeds to cross her arms and glare at Bicks with a mischievous hint of a smile on her lips.

Pale, brown haired pinched features and an abacus at the ready Canacha frowned as Bicks made his way torwards the door. Just in case someone was watching. she turned and faces the others including miss Mirabella and made a slight harumph sound.

"Keep an eye on the masters willful daughter... in all my years I've never.."

She began with a stern shake of her head moving closer to Bicks so he wasnt alone at the door. She did her best to keep a keen eye out as well.

After waiting around for a few minutes a small hatch opens on the door and the stunning face of an elven woman appears to look out. She takes a quick glance at you all and says "The school is closed untill further notice, kindly leave before you stir up some trouble." and with that she closes the hatch.

Being a native of Kintargo Jack recognize the woman as being the headmistress of the school, neither Jack nor Canahca detects anything out of the ordinary about her. She might have just closed the school out of concern for the students and wishes to protect them from what is going on in Kintargo these days.

"Well that was abrupt..." whispered Logan who felt at a loss given the dismissal.

So the game designers must have a reason for this plot hook, but it feels like we're missing something. Perhaps whatever it is will crop up later? What else should we be doing?

In other things I have run they have a number of clues you can explore but they are all foreshadowing though it can be confusing to players so you have NPCs discourage them from continuing. I'm good with following the other plan we have as setting up a home base.
