As Tristain emerges from the obscuring mist and runs down the hallway to attack, they can clearly see you running down the hall. I'll automatically allow you to go first since you are a bit surprising to them (moving and attacking), but they will get a surprise round response (a standard or move action). I think that's probably fair.

Tristain's weapon takes a nice chunk out of the very big tiefling, who howls in pain.
COMBAT HAS STARTED - SURPRISE ROUND
The large tiefling reaches back with its claws and tries to rake out Tristain's guts. The large tiefling succeeds and tears through Tristain's armor. Tristain has taken 6 damage!

You hear sounds like other people speaking coming from around the corner. It's that same strange language as you've heard before. Dravano (the big guy) is clearly not alone.

"Jimmy hears noises! What's going on back there?!" Jimmy looks around warily, unsure as to what's going on.
Again, you guys can hear each other speaking just fine, so it's clear he's fighting. Where he's fighting is an issue, given the mist and your location.

I will ignore dim light concealment since you're close to him. But if you move further away you'll need to consider the 20% miss rate. I'd like to keep the game moving than get bogged down with all the details.
There are multiple footsteps from around the corner. How many isn't clear, but it's multiple.
Dravano howls in pain again, but the big tiefling continues to push forward. He only takes a 5' step so that he can use both claws upon Tristain. Another claw gets through. Tristain has taken 5 more damage! He is hurt very badly.
Claw 1 attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Just made a post where Jimmy reacts to the noise he hears from the direction where Tristain and Ezren went. There was nothing else I could do, considering it wasn't my turn yet.
Jimmy takes a double move back into the mist, "Jimmy wants to know how many there are!"

Since it is so dark, you don't know what the tieflings behind Dravano are doing. At last count there were two. I've decided to remove them from the map since you cannot see them. All you remember is they were behind Dravano. Mystery Mob(s) B is/are not doing anything this round.

I will assume Jimmy had a readied action to move forward when Ezren left that area. I would clearly prefer stating a readied action plus the qualifying trigger event, but it's not a big deal. Your standard action would of course be to cast the spell first, then move so you don't trigger an AoO in front of Dravano casting a spell. I've re-ordered the initiative because of the readied action, not that it matters but just to be technical about it.

Soooo, what will Jimmy and Ezren do?
| Jimmy Bodrick |
Shield of faith gives Jimmy +2 to AC. He cast it on himself before he moved up to fight Dravano. With the +1 bonus from Ezren that's 24 AC. Dravano didn't touch Jimmy with his last attack :)
Voice: Don't attack now, Jimmy. Stab them in the back when they're not looking.
Jimmy holds his attack, but will swing his sword at the nearest enemy if a hostile action's taken. He'll make some room for Dravano and whoever's behind him to pass.
Yup, Mary's luck moved over to Jimmy.

My mistake, I keep a file with buffs, HP, etc. and this fight has been a bit sloppy on my part of managing the PCs. That's my second mistake this fight.
Dravano begins panting like a dog, but then reaches into his pockets and finds a potion and drinks it.
CMW: 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 = 8
After drinking it, he steps aside only for a moment as a mummy and two tieflings come throught he darkness and pass by. The mummy says, "Bize cehennem şövalyeleri göstermek"
"Show us the Hell Knights."

The mummy gives the four of you a good look, and then says, "If you're lying, you will all die." He points to Tristain and starts saying some kind of strange sounds.
Domino Spellcraft to identify spell: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Domino Perception Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
You know that mummies are undead creatures that can cause fear. You currently do not feel any more afraid than, well, normal I suppose for this situation. You're not overcome with fear, which you have heard sometimes accompanies the mummy. In fact, you think it's not a real mummy but someone in a costume. You also know that the mummy is currently casting a Charm Person spell on Tristain.
Okay. It's clear that the mummy is casting a spell. Domino: read the spoiler and figure out what you want to do as a standard or move action. Tristain: please roll a Will Save DC15 (just in case). Ezren/Jimmy can also make a standard of move action in reaction to the spell being cast, or you can wait.

Domino will begin a Bardic Performance (Countersong)
Countersong (Su): At 1st level, a bard learns to counter magic effects that depend on sound (but not spells that have verbal components). Each round of the countersong he makes a Perform (keyboard, percussion, wind, string, or sing) skill check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by a sonic or language-dependent magical attack may use the bard's Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform check result proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the countersong is already under the effect of a noninstantaneous sonic or language-dependent magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it hears the countersong, but it must use the bard's Perform skill check result for the save. Countersong does not work on effects that don't allow saves. Countersong relies on audible components.Bard
SA: Perform (Oratory) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Of course the glory of Mammon will out-darken the majesty of calculating Asmodeous and those foolish Hellknights will not know what shall destroy them when faced by a living horror, I mean un-living horror
Council Chairman
|
Okay, your action will be to do a performance counterspell. It will have no affect on this spell, since it has a verbal component, which is specifically prohibited in the countersong description.
Everyone who passes a sense motive DC15 check please read Domino's spoiler from his post. Tristain will need to make a Will Save DC15.

Please wait to post until I'm done updating. When the post reads..."updating" try to hold off posting. I'm still posting stuff in there. I do that because this messageboard tends to eat my posts, so I have to post, edit, post, edit. That way I don't have to go back and redo a huge post again.
Your action will be to do inspire word. Since everyone is "on edge", actions like that need to be done in an initiative order.
