Sorry I haven't been posting. It seems like everyone but the fighter is out fighting while he's in the library. Just not a whole lot of action from Tarnagius until Court.
That's fine Tarnagius, what you're doing is what I was aiming for. I hope to clean up these side quests quickly.
Pylos. I'm giving you a new ability.
Dumb Luck:
When you roll a natural 1 for an attack roll, you may spend 1 panache point to treat it as a hit. Additional panache points may be required if the enemy is particularly difficult to hit.

I love it. Need to invest in Extra Panache...
Has anybody else had this much bad luck with a character that wasn't a mechanical flaw?

Well I've had some bad luck with various of my characters: mainly in the skills department. I did have some trouble in my Serpent's Run game: seems my elven barbarian can only hit if she's raging. Otherwise it's 55/45.
My first RPG character was a monk in 3.5 who had an AC of like 30 (I think we played until level 18) and he got taken out by gnolls in a random encounter with an ECL of like 12. Heavy crossbows critted like 10 times.

I'd say don't forget about the +2 bonus for influencing people from your noble outfit, bu with that roll I don't think it would matter much. Also, I'm mostly using this part to listen in on conversations and gauge people, that's why I didn't roll a diplomacy check.
Tarnagius probably doesn't know what the order of the Torrent is, right? I tripped over it wiki-hopping a while back, but I can't recall if that's common knowledge or not.
Most citizens of Kintargo know they exist, but few actually know what they do. A way back, Laria mentioned them. She said they're not like the other Hellknight orders. She calls them polite and kind.

I remember that actually: since they seem to be a much friendlier order of Hellknights and if Barzillai has done away with them, they might be potential allies.
Also I'm at work so I'll try and post later this evening after work.

Sorry y'all I haven't posted yet. It's been quite busy these last few weeks but I go on vacation next week so I should be able to post a lot more often. Just bear with me please. And I apologize about this too.
I think now might be a good time to start thinking and discussing what you want to do for your rebellion actions for the week.
I'll start with upkeep:
Step 0: Adding modifiers from events:
Red Jills supporters:2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 Red Jills donations:3d10 ⇒ (7, 5, 4) = 16gp
Red Jills notoriety:1d6 ⇒ 1 Free the dogs Notoriety:1d4 ⇒ 3
Free the dogs supporters: +1
Rexus' special ability: -1 Notoriety
Step 1: Loyalty:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11Attrition:1d6 ⇒ 5
Step 2: N/A
Step 3 Homebrew: Treasury -10gp
Step 4: Total supporters: 5+10+1-5=11 Rebellion increases to level 2!
- Every PC gains a bonus skill rank
Step 5: You guys will need to deposit a minimum of 4gp into the treasury to make sure it stays in the green.
Next will be the activity phase, so look in your Player's Guide for the list of actions you can take. The rebellion sheet has been updated.
Male Human Swashbuckler(Mysterious Avenger) 3 | HP [30/30] | AC 15, FF 12, T 13 | Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +1 | Init +5 | Perception +5 | Panache [3/3] | Charmed Life [3/3]
Not sure what action to take, so I'll help someone else with their action. Put my bonus rank into Acrobatics, though I'm thinking about putting it into Linguistics. Any idea on which language would be more useful if I do?
Also, I don't have 4 gold to donate, all but 1 gold went into the gift for Barzillai. I do have 3 unidentified vials of liquids I can sell or dump into the treasury after identification.
Well the books do have a very wide array of languages, but for In Hell's Bright Shadow most of the languages are already covered by the party (there are a few exceptions, but they're either spoilery, or come up significantly later in the series).
If you want, you could get the party to speak a common language other than common. Something that your enemies wouldn't understand. If you guys wanted, we could also include the language "Thieves' Cant" for you (rogues would get that language for free, as well as anyone who has lived as a criminal in their backstory).
Male Human Swashbuckler(Mysterious Avenger) 3 | HP [30/30] | AC 15, FF 12, T 13 | Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +1 | Init +5 | Perception +5 | Panache [3/3] | Charmed Life [3/3]
Well, right now I speak Common, Chelish, and Infernal, none of which would be useful for a secret language. Thieves' Cant would be interesting to learn, though I think Jules would be the only one that would start with that.

Well I'll probably take another point in linguistics and pick Strix to help Rexus in translating the documents. That means I can take a 20+skill modifier on helping him right?
Also I'll donate 25 to the rebellion's treasury.
And let's see...a language that our enemies wouldn't speak? Osiriani? Skald?

Ah, my bad, thought Chelaxians had a regional dialect like some of the other human ethnicities, such as Shoanti.
Speaking of, Kethaera, aren't you Shoanti? If so, the Shoanti peoples have their own dialect, and it'd be cool to use a so-called barbaric language against Barzillai.
Suppose I can help Rexus with the Infernal parts of the documents.

Actually Pylos that's a good idea. Using Shoanti would be quite useful to use.
Actually Tarnagius the documents are written in Celestial, Elven, and Strix. Jules was missing Celestial, while I was missing Strix.
Ah. Just took Strix, so I'm just missing Celestial now.
The thing with Shoanti is anyone who's any sort of intelligence officer or something may know it since there are Shoanti in Cheliax. If we were to use something more obscure, like say Vegepygmy or Protean...
I recorded your donations, Phillip and Kethaera. Thanks.
Although the rules allow the taking of 20 on linguistics checks, it will take too much time. Rexus is effectively taking 20 on his checks, and it takes him a week to get any results out of it. If you'd like to help him, you can take 10, or roll normally. It's essentially an Aid Another.
It's the new week, so let's hear your votes for Rebellion Actions. Your rebellion can now make 3 actions.

Gold is always useful. The street team should head out to gather information. I'll add my little bonus to someone else's action.

Same here. I'm good for all of these actions.
I think we should however, make sure to do three things: first free the prisoners from the Saltworks. Second investigate the ruins of the music shop that was run by Shensen. And third try to make sure we do some more quests as we'll need to gain the support of the people (regardless of Tarnagius's high horse opinion on that).
No I'm not referring to Tarnagius the player. I'm referring to Tarnagius the character. ;P
