I think the best solution to this would be just some time. Once we pull a tactical retreat here and somebody (I'm guessing Pylos) points out that the whole thing went sideways back at the base, I was planning to have Tarnagius snap out of his little hissy fit. Don't confuse Tarnagius' anger with me not having fun, please.

As far as gods go, Abadar would probably make the most sense if there was a cleric who was willing to work with the rebellion to introduce him to the religion, because I can't imagine him knowing much more about Abadar than he does about any other religion.

I think he'll settle in more once we get him a squad to lead. Like I said from the get-go, he wants to be throwing bombs and kidnapping Barzillai's favorite dogs and leading ambushes where like fake storefronts drop down to reveal like 50 rebels walking out into the street surrounding like 10 dottari. He's a fighter, he wants to be kicking ass, not schmoozing and making friends.

I'm going to write a more detailed post tonight as I was called into work.

But I think adding more religion to the story especially in terms of Abadar and Shelyn would be good. Kethaera's a devout follower of Shelyn so it makes sense. As for Tarnagius, Abadar sounds like a good deity for him to follow. And since Phillip is a follower of Calistria I think maybe his religion should be part of this campaign too. I know in character we don't know this but I'll leave it to Phillip to tell us that.

Again I'll have a more detailed post later today. Man I had hoped they wouldn't call me in but I do need the money. Well time for work.

I think I'm gonna be showing more of Pylos's religious side.

Also, I'm gonna use this as a bit of a turning point for Pylos. Up until now he's been laid back because he has been raised a bit spoiled. He's never really lost someone he liked and respected before after his original imp nanny, so almost losing Kethaera will shake him.

Okay good! I was a little worried XD

You could definitely recruit some freedom fighters for the rebellion next week, but I'll hint to you that in book 2 you'll find a lot more that will suit Tarnagius. I realize that's a long wait (though not nearly as long as finding Shensen, Strea, or what the heck those bells of Asmodeus are for), but if you stick with me I promise we will get there.

If you're interested in Abadar, we have a very conflicted high priest of said religion that would consider joining the rebellion after a few of his concerns are alleviated. He has a few boons as well that could be of interest, as well as another station for healing and spellcasting.

When you want to, you can dedicate your freedom fighters to ambush the dottari, which is considered a Reduce Danger action. You're always welcome to join them, and I'd be happy to run such an encounter. Although the rules don't state it, I would also allow you to use the Reduce Danger action to target specific areas, such as this gang hideout. Though, I think it would be best if you accompanied it, since it would be a bit dull if you guys only played commander.

If you're wondering where in book 1 we're at right now, I would say you're about 60% of the way through. Roughly.

I've read up to book 5 now (working on it). As far as non-evil religions go, the book features Calistria in the Wasp Nest (that shrine in the water). Shelyn and Abadar as the temples who could be recruited. There is also Cayden Cailean and Sarenrae in later books. I'll see what can be done.

Just realized, Kethaera, you need to make a stabilization check to keep yourself from bleeding out. Its a DC15 Con check with a penalty equal to your negative HP. Took a quick look at a heal check and I'm not gonna be helping you anytime soon unfortunately.

Would I be able to make it to Phillip in one turn if I make a charge attack?

Okay, here we go. Sorry for taking so long, but after work my mom invited me to supper. But here’s the detailed post. And boy is it a wall of text! Yikes!

Yeah, I know I may have gone overboard on it, but the thing is Kethaera’s family isn’t really powerful or influential. Just because her mother is connected to those groups I mentioned earlier in the adventure doesn’t mean Kethaera is. The only groups she’s connected are the Church of Shelyn, Lady Docur’s School for Girls, and Alabaster Academy, and the Opera House of course, but that’s about it and actually she’s mostly connected with the Church of Shelyn, but in terms of power, after her father was murdered, Kethaera’s mother became well, a bit zealous in teaching her daughter to hate everything about Chelaxian culture, causing their family’s wealth to be eat up, dropping them from a upper middle class family to barely being a lower middle class family. However, Kethaera eventually realized that her mother was a bit hypocritical in teaching her daughter. It was through the Church of Shelyn that my character realized that just because everyone is different, doesn’t mean they aren’t beautiful, be it on the inside, outside, or both.

Kethaera maybe a popular diva, but she didn’t get there by her looks and silver tongue alone. According to the Inner Sea Races book, Chelaxians see Shoanti as being uncultured. Because of this, Kethaera had to work extremely hard to get even accepted by the people of Kintargo and to even get her first performance. She had to train herself tirelessly, dancing till her feet bled, sing until she almost couldn’t speak anymore, and beat drums and chime well chimes till her hands hurt and arms felt like that were about to fall off. She believed that by becoming a diva, she could do something that her mother couldn’t: change Chelish culture, at least in a small way. It was because of her having to grow up under the closeminded mindset of Chelish society that she was drawn to those whose lives were just as difficult, maybe even more. Tieflings and ratfolk come to mind. This is what led to Kethaera developing a crush on Strea, and she also had another crush (although not as big as her crush on the leader of the Cloven Hoof Society) on Shensen as her fellow half-elven diva also struggled with society even though Kethaera’s mother couldn’t stand Shensen (mostly because she didn’t approve of Shensen’s life style and behavior). Kethaera’s mother also didn’t like tieflings seeing them as byproduct of the infernal adoration caused by both Chelish society and the church of Asmodeus. It is the church of Asmodeus that Kethaera hates with a passion, seeing it as the actual cause of the failings of Chelish culture and society. She has also come to view House Thrune and the Hellknights as puppets of the Asmodean clergy.

In terms of her wanting to dance again, Tarnagius, that’s one reason, but it’s far down on her list of reasons for overthrowing Thrune and the church of Asmodeus. She wants to overthrow them as she believes that they are creating an atmosphere of intolerance and bigotry, and this scares her. She has had to face that sort of her treatment all of her (even as a diva she still faces it), and she doesn’t want to have that sort of bigoted mindset grow in strength as while it will affect her, it will greatly affect others, and she can’t stand to see others suffer. She’s a bleeding heart I know, but she’s not a true pacifist. More like a quasi-pacifist as she’ll fight if she has no other choice, but she’s not about to toss diplomacy out the window the moment the enemy draws their swords.

Also, and this is for Jules, Kethaera might be a bit surprise by your character being agnostic, but her training under the priests of Shelyn has taught her to be accepting of others, so it won’t bother her if you tell her you’re agnostic. Her mother on the other hand can’t stand atheists and agnostics, seeing them as one step above Asmodean followers and that’s on her good days!

Kethaera is a half-elf trying to figure out her place in the world, and she wants to be her own person. And just so y’all know, she actually and secretly respects Tarnagius, as he has impressed her that he worked for Brazillia for so long and yet, didn’t fall into the same abyss that his former master has fallen into.

She may not understand her friends, but she’s willing to stick up for them and follow them straight into Hell and fight beside them.

So there you have it.

But I agree: I should have consulted with y’all before sparing those thugs. Maybe they had valuable equipment on them that might have been useful, but I goofed there. Still, I don’t think Kethaera will spare enemies that are unredeemable, but if an evil villain begs for mercy, my character won’t kill him in cold blood.

Also, I get off tomorrow at 4 pm, so I’ll try and see if I can figure out how much wealth my character has (or doesn’t have!) so far.

I’m really enjoying this campaign, and y’all have been real great friends and very helpful to me. Not mention patient when I do stupid stuff like forget to tell the thugs we spared to leave their gear! Doh on my part! ;)

And don’t worry Tarnagius and Pylos, I know the feeling. Real life can come out of nowhere and blindside you when you least expect it. I’m playing my Wizardry 8 game which I haven’t played in years so it’s cool.

Kethaera, I think you've done a great job in your research. Your character definitely looks and acts like how your backstory describes her. You will find many opportunities to bring your love of life, singing and dancing, social aspects, and more into the game. Though I'm sure you're aware that not everyone is savable, and you may have to resort to violence and bloodshed in order to save the citizens of Kintargo. Some people are evil to the very core, which is a theme we'll be exploring again and again throughout the adventure.

Also don't worry about the equipment lost. Not only will I add the treasure elsewhere in the adventure, but to be honest none of them had anything worthwhile!

Yeah I'm doing better now. I'm spending a few days at my girlfriend's place for a change of setting. I wish I was a little more reliable in every aspect of my life, but I'm prone to stress, depression, anxiety and the like. I have the best of intentions, and the worst execution XD.

Hey y'all, sorry I haven't posted yet. I'll be honest, I'm stumped on what to do. I'm at a losf of what to do here. I don't think any of my spells can reach the Strix plus my character doesn't have a bow so I'm not going to be able to anything besides heal.

So yeah I'm a bit surprised that I go first.

If y'all have any suggestions feel free to let me know please.
