Male Half-elf Assassin 14 / Obsidian Stalker

Nayce strides purposefully to the xorn and swings his sword at it, shadows swirling about his form.

Shroud on xorn. Shadow Storm on the xorn using the shroud. 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33 vs AC, 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 damage on a hit plus 1d6 ⇒ 1 shroud damage.

Edit: Brutal on the shroud 1d6 ⇒ 6 So 22 damage total.

Nayce - I'm not sure where you want to be, and it matters somewhat.

As Nayce's longsword swings, the xorn turns crazed eyes on him and compels him to redirect his attack . . .

For the Love of Money (Will). Immediate interrupt when targeted by melee attack. On hit, instead of attacking the dwarf, target makes a basic melee attack on a target of the dwarf's choice. If no such target exists, no attack is made.
1d20+12=25 = Xorn v Nayce. Hits.

Depending on where you are, the attack goes to Quillan, Rusty or the Spirit Companion.

M6 is right. I went there for the Combat Advantage. Sorry. I started to post the move and melee attack, then I changed my mind to a ranged attack, then I changed it back to melee and forgot to put the move back in!

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 vs AC. 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 damage.

Nayce's longsword diverts mid-swing towards Rusty, but the change in direction leaves the blow lacking weight and the dragonborn's armour is easily strong enough to withstand it.

Amenephus, gliding back and forth like an ice dancer (to K9) expends a Healing Word on Isari: (Spend a healing surge plus an additional 3: Healing Word bonus for Isari: (2d6=3))

He then lets fly with Lance of Faith (v Reflex) against the Xorn: Lance of Faith v Xorn: (1d20+9=19, 1d8+5=8)

If that hits, it does 8 radiant damage, and an ally I can see gains a +2 power bonus to their next attack roll against the Xorn: Go for it, Dorvin!

Concentrating on restoring Isari, Amenephus's aim is a little off and his bolt of radiant light is just evaded by the xorn. For a lump of animate rock, it's surprisingly agile.

  • Not wanting to fall victim again to the mind-controlling attack of the xorn, Rusty falls further back from the battle.

    OOC:

Distrubed by the fate of the dwarves, Quillan's attack can't penetrate the xorn's defenses.

    Anyone need healing?

CRIT! Thus damage is 15 +
    2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2

    Male Dwarf Warlord 10

    Total 17 damage to Xorn

Dorvin's attack knocks a vital chunk of rock off the xorn and it starts to seep gravel.

Bloodied, but I'm guessing that for xorn the technical term is probably "rubbled".

Enraged and in increasing agony, the xorn shifts easily across the treacherous ground burrowing towards Amenephus and rising up beside the cleric. Stony jaws clamp around the eladrin and Amenephus feels the force of rock pushing him backwards.

Shifts between Nayce and Quillan, sinks to burrow and heads for Amenephus, moving as part of its standard action.

Burrowing Bite (AC). Xorn burrows half speed and bites. On hit target is pushed one square and xorn moves into vacated space.
    1d20+14=32 - xorn v Amenephus. Hits.
    2d8+7=13
    13 damage to Amenephus

1d6+4=5 damage to xorn from Isari's booming blade.

  • 18 + 1d12 + 2d6 ⇒ 18 + (4) + (3, 3) = 28 critical damage.

  • Male Human Swordmage/Wandering Swordmage 11

Isari makes an arcane gesture and swings his sword into thin air, only to slice into a disorientated xorn.

    Immediate Interrupt, using Transposing Lunge to teleport the xorn back to N5 before it attacked Amenephus. (vs AC) 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 232d10 + 7 ⇒ (8, 2) + 7 = 17

Now for this round's actions, assuming that hit.(If it missed, he wasn't teleported and still attacked Amenephus)

Isari once again slashes at the elemental, the screech of metal on stone filling the air.

    Using Booming Blade: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 191d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Quick though he is, Isari can't quite land his blow and the xorn chomps on Amenephus unhindered. Frustrated, he crosses the room to attack again, but his aim is off once more.

(The xorn doesn't already have a shroud because I used it on my last turn.)

Nayce sends his shadowy noose to ensnare the xorn.

Shroud on xorn. Excutioner's Noose using shroud. 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 vs Fortitude. 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 force damage on a hit plus 1d6 ⇒ 4 shroud damage and the xorn is slowed until the end of my next turn. (No effects on a miss.) I will decline to use the pull portion of the power - he's fine where he is.

Amenephus is somewhat perturbed by the Xorn's chomping, and does not react well:

Forgemaster's Flame v Xorn - 1d20+9vAC; 2d8+3 fire damage, and (as I haven't used a Channel Divinity power this encounter) the Xorn grants combat advantage and is slowed until the end of my next turn.

    Forgemaster's Flame v Xorn: (1d20+9=29, 2d8+3=18)

Edit: as that's a crit, the damage is actually 19 not 18.

    Rev DM

    Spoiler:

OK - I know that I had combat advantage already, and that the +2 isn't included in my roll, but I forgot, and it doesn't seem to make much difference!

Love of Money is immediate interrupt at-will. I'm switching it to a recharge power as of now and for next time you meet a monster so adorned. I too would like to finish this fight.

Fair enough. Sometimes you can use powers as basic attacks, so I wasn't entirely sure.

Quillan wipes the sweat from his brown and the bloode from his axe before strapping it back onto his back.

You're right on both counts. I just did a count back. 18,649 it is. Now correct in my profile. Ah - I see what I did. I typed a "5" for an "8" after the last fight.

You all gain 1AP for reaching a milestone. I will assume a short rest unless you tell me otherwise. Please update surges used and hp in your profiles.

Quillan's examination of the dwarves is not promising. They are in the last stages of gold fever and there is probably nothing he can do to help them in the immediate future.

    Spoiler:
At this stage of the disease, Remove Affliction is needed. In the Upper Halls, Father Jappe can cast this, but lacks ingredients and with inflation as high as it is, has little chance of buying them from Halston.

    Male Half-elf Assassin 14 / Obsidian Stalker

"Are they going to make it?" Nayce asks Quillan.

I think a short rest is always a good idea, so it has my vote.
