Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

With her speed still magically enhanced, Noravia took a step towards the hag, skirting Caleb's water orb, and took a couple swings at its ugly face. In trying to avoid falling into the water, Noravia's first swing went wide but her second one hit home.

I'm assuming the 17 doesn't hit but will gladly take it if I'm wrong :)

"Maybe you could move the water orb out of the way." Noravia pointed to where she heard someone mumbling a moment earlier. "Maybe in that direction. You could possibly catch the invisible one in it."

thinking about this, but not sure if it is possible
"You got it." Caleb nodded at Noravia. Struck by inspiration he rolled the ball over himself and towards where she pointed.
'This was a really, really bad idea' he decided.
so what - a reflex roll to escape when he gets where he wants? Maybe I should just do this the easy way and use an acrobatics roll.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Pretty much like last round... run around the hag to get behind it and to flanking position (at least enabling it for someone else), then full attack courtesy to the style strike.

One enemy down, another waiting for attention. Dodging past grasping claws, Eirik got behind the creature, denying it escape, and hammered heavy blows into its twisted body. A step kick hit the hag's knee, forcing the joint to bend in a direction nature had never intended. Continuing his movement, the monk spun counterclockwise to land an elbow strike just below the creature's right ear, finishing the turn to launch a palm strike that hit the hag's lower ribs.

Actually in retrospect I don't think I can do that
Caleb took a step backwards, Ves perching on his back like some form of angelic monkey. Darts of smoky black power spun from his hand into the wet witch, whipping past the monk and maiden with eerie precision. Meanwhile, the orb of water rushed through the room towards where Noravia indicated.

5ft back. Standard to cast. Move to move the ball. Invisible creatures are visible in water, so if I can roll it over her we may see something. If not sure where, take it up onto the raised dais.

Is making that Perception check enough to at least give Caleb some general pointers? Like "she's somewhere SE from us" or the like? Would increase the odds for a blind hit with the orb somewhat.

You guys already know it's somewhere on the other side of the room. I need to confirm this later but I think that given the size of the orb and the size of the room, Caleb should be able to sweep it all in one round.

The only thing she could notice with all of the chaos was that there was a hideous creature attacking her companions. The remaining hag seemed to be in fairly good shape so she cast a spell and sent a bolt of lightning arcing straight through the space that the green woman occupied.

I enter the room and stand by Noravia and Eirik then cast lightning bolt down the line at the last hag. It will miss our people and hit her. If someone moves into the path of the bolt then I will hold my action for another target.

Feeblemind? Ouch... time to try the pinpointing thing full-time. Let's use the same technique Eirik attempted in Lucky Bones - take off his long silk sash and whip it around and see if it hits something where nothing should be.

Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29

Hearing the chant rise to a peak, Eirik moved towards where he thought the caster was hiding at, narrowing his eyes to prioritize his hearing. He moved quickly but quietly, and as he went, he unfurled the long silk sash he wore as a belt. He then began lashing out with the 6' length of cloth in random patterns in the air around himself, hoping to hit their invisible foe and thus pinpoint its location.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia saw the twinkle in Caleb's eyes that she loved so much be snuffed out. Now he looked at her but his eyes seemed dead. She started to panic because she had no idea what just happened. Her voice quivered with barely restrained fear, "Caleb, what happened?" When she received no response she looked questioningly at Ves, "Ves, what happened? Is he ok?"

Every fiber of Noravia's being wanted to leave with Caleb and keep him safe but she wasn't about to abandon the rest of the Ravens. She steeled herself and pushed her feelings aside of everything but anger against whatever did this to Caleb and they were somewhere in this room. First, they needed to figure out what they were fighting and how best to defeat them - which meant they needed to make it visible.

perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

Seeing Eirik's actions, she pushed a thought at him so that the creature couldn't hear her intentions. Eirik, we know it's near the fountain. If you take one end of your sash and I the other, we can sweep the area up to the fountain and hopefully closeline it. Unless it can fly, of course.

Feel free for Eirik to ignore Noravia and keep doing what he's doing. Noravia will use Bonded Mind to communicate with Eirik and Vandomir.

At Vandomir the inquisitor thinks, Vandomir, since you're using your bow, cover the door so that this thing can't escape while invisible.

Again, feel free to ignore.

Rizolla...

So pinpointing an invisible creature is a move action with a perception that goes against the stealth roll of the invisible creature, which gets a +40 bonus if it doesn't move or a +20 if it moves.

I'm ruling that casting is like moving.

I'm also giving you some bonuses on your perception rolls for getting creative on your descriptions.

Vandomir: I only need your Round 4 actions since I moved you down the initiative order when you missed a post.

Since we won't get much from Caleb, I'll only wait for Rizolla to recap and move things along.

I'm consciously not reacting to Caleb's problem at the moment since I don't know how he wants to play out the (hopefully) brief moment of idiocy ;^)

Eirik flinched at the sudden mental intrusion but calmed once he realized who was reaching out to him in such a manner. 'This will take some getting used to,' he thought back, not knowing whether the spell or prayer Noravia had used would even allow for an answer. Yet he noted the Inquisitor's good advice and directed his efforts to the area she, too, believed the voice had come from.

Rizolla realized from Vandomir's flurry of arrows at seeming nothing that something was up but she had no idea what that was. Having no magic that could help to locate something invisible she instead cast a spell on herself, an aura of malice seeming to emanate from her, before she began to move forward to try and draw out whatever might be in hiding. She looked around and said, "Come out come out wherever you are."

I cast Draconic Malice on myself and then move 1 square right and five squares down on the map.

My breath weapons is supernatural not spell/spell-like and thus technically doesn't fall under that restriction but it is an ability from my sorcerer class and uses charisma to determine part of the saving through. If I can use it I would assume that the charisma penalty would reduce the saving throw.

Whatever the enemy was doing, it was having a remarkable effect on the group's wizards. But Eirik could do nothing to them; what he could and had to do was try and pinpoint the enemy so they might deal with it... her, from the sound of the feminine voice.

Eirik continued his advance, taking steps in random directions and whipping his sash this way and that to make it harder for the enemy to guess where he was aiming for and to dodge aside. And finally, after what certainly seemed like minutes of futile effort, the sash caught something, wrapped around a body where no body should be.

"There!" he shouted, hoping someone could capitalize on his discovery before the woman moved outside his reach and he had to begin again.

TRYing to limit the enemy's directions of escape, so if she does get to hide again, at least there would be less space she might have moved to and thus making it easier for Eirik to find again.

Is the altar-like room the one to the right of the fountain?

Noravia tried not to be discouraged or distracted as Rizolla succumbed to the same fate as Caleb. She listened carefully to her surroundings but was trusting in the monk's sharper senses to help pinpoint their foe. When the voice mentioned her son, Noravia blurted, "Are you Hetamon's mother?"

Seconds later, Eirik's sash wrapped around an invisible body and the inquisitor was ready to strike. "Milani judges you for crimes against her most beloved servant."

She'll choose Justice for now until they actually know what they're fighting.

I would say that Greater Invisibility is a b~$$#. The fact that she keeps attacking but remains invisible is quite frustrating. That and Tillia isn't with us because she actually has glitterdust, I believe.

Noravia kept working with Eirik to narrow down and pinpoint the invisible female's location. Between using Eirik's belt and her bonded mind, they worked efficiently without words.

perception: 1d20 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 15 + 4 = 27

But the inquisitor had to continue to rely on the monk's superior senses to direct her where to attack. Maybe if she could keep her talking, it would be easier for Eirik. "If you'd like, we could take over Hetamon's discipline and save you the trouble. He's caused us some grief as well. We'd gladly take him and leave you to enjoy other endeavors."

If Eirik makes his perception, then Noravia will attack

Stats

RE Feeblemind: Caleb has a huge bonus against mind-affecting, and a 50% spell miss because of Blink. She took a chance, and she got lucky. If I'd still had the Charm of Fate he might've walked away. It's a great spell, but situational.
RE Greater Invis: yeah, we should learn a lesson for this about what we need. At this point we need to assume invis opponents. We've got a lot of use out of the fact detects dont work on us when we're invis either, so turnabout is fair play. I do want to get me some of that greater invis later though!

And this is why you have familiars, folks...

A moment later a boar - a very, very angry boar, stood where the wasp had been a second before.

The boar rushed the empty air, darting back and forward. Finally she stopped, head down, screaming anger in piggy squeals.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous... how 'bout some Aid Anothers for Eirik from the rest of you? I believe those can stack if the situation is such that more hands can help.

If Eirik could just get an action in and go for grapple...

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Oh... we do have that Haste going... would that give us a 3rd action to use for spotting? Pretty please ;^)

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia's rolls were enough to give you a bonus for aid another. I think because we're working together to find her, that that would apply

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Thank ye for that, but Eirik needs another +2 to make the check this round. Vandomir/Vespulea? I see Vespula was using scent to pinpoint on her own, but perhaps these could all be considered a group effort?

Turn 430 - Vespula

Read the OOC.

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

Game on!

rolls:

Natsiel to hit Ves: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Wow that was a fat turn ;^) Anyway... assuming we already did the waiting bit I assume Eirik knows where the enemy is and can get in close thanks to his style strike and then go to town on the thing... I'll forget the grapple idea for now, since we have a spotter and it seems to take a standard action so Eirik can't spam it like he can Disarm. Will use one Stunning Fist and one Ki point for yet more attacks (as it specifically stacks with haste).

Noravia, some awesome melee damage buffs would be nice here if you have any in store ;^) Could delay action even a tad further to receive those.

Eirik gave a savage grin now that the enemy was finally located. The creature had attempted to assail his own psyche, yet the monk's training had prevailed and shielded him... a good thing, else he'd likely have joined Caleb and Rizolla, suffering from whatever it was. They were alive, but acting more than strange enough to cause concern. But he knew he could do nothing to help them, besides trying to stop the enemy from hurting anyone else.

Flowing across the distance separating him from his quarry, Eirik looped the sash around one wrist to keep it from tangling as he fought and launched into a savage combination. A kick at his own hip-height hit something soft that gave way readily, presumably the enemy's stomach, giving the monk a good reference point. Even making good use of his other senses, the enemy's invisibility was enough to cause his next attack to miss, but he called upon his internal energy to speed his body even further. An elbow connected with the side of the enemy's face, a palm strike bruised ribs and internal organs, and a spear-hand punch grazed the woman's side, drawing blood.

Melee, flurry, unarmed: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 16 + 1 = 30 Let's add one DC 16 Stun here to the first attack... not that it hardly ever works... but at least I'm not compelled to save them for a harder fight

Damage, rend and bleed, lethal: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 1) + (6) = 10

Intimidate, demoralize: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

After that, the enemy will be bleeding profusely, which should make it much easier to pinpoint her (with Scent and just seeing where the blood keeps flowing from).

It's a holiday here for me so I have time to play. :)

Er... why are attacking so many times. What's your interpretation of flying kick?

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11
Quote:
Before the attack, the monk can move a distance equal to his fast movement bonus. This movement is made as part of the monk’s flurry of blows attack and does not require an additional action. At the end of this movement, the monk must make an attack against an adjacent foe.

Seems clear enough to me... can move up to 30' on the round he makes a full attack to flurry, can do the move anywhen he wants, except he has to be able to attack after it, so can't be after the last attack. Then it's standard 3 attacks, plus one from Haste, plus one from Ki power, as:

Quote:
By spending 1 point from his ki pool as a swift action, a monk can make one additional unarmed strike at his highest attack bonus when making a flurry of blows attack. This bonus attack stacks with all bonus attacks gained from flurry of blows, as well as those from haste and similar effects.

So you are interpreting this as a pounce ability, meaning that you can move and full round attack?

Let me look into that. For one is that you are not in a straight line to the attacker (thanks to the churning ball of water) so that may hinder this ability in this instance.

But let me take a look and see if this is indeed 'pounce'.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

So we're attacking with our held actions this round? and then get to attack again once Ves pinpoints her again...correct?

Eirik, you get a +1 to attack with Haste as well as Bless. I'm not sure if it would make a difference but your attacks were all one higher.

As soon as Ves started squealing angrily and not moving further around the room, the inquisitor reached out and touched Eirik before the monk sprang away and she called on Milani to infuse their weapons with her goodness.

Will cast Align Weapon, communal on Eirik and herself. Awhile back, Noravia had cast Protection from Evil on Eirik. Did that expire?

Noravia then followed the monk and tried to stay as close to Ves as she could. Trusting Milani to guide her weapon, she pounded the air near where Ves remained.

+2frost morningstar,haste,bless,judgment: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 28
damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (4) = 11
+2frost morningstar,haste,bless,judgment: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 30
damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (2) = 7

I'll let Fabian roll as to whether they hit or miss...

Not sure if Noravia can do both but she'll cast Align Weapon, communal as her held action from last round and attack this round.

Actually, it's better than Pounce (if you don't count that fact it's not a double move of a charge, but just a monk bonus move rate move) because you can move before or in between any of the attacks, and it's a move, not a charge, so no need to go in straight lines. Movement is part of the Flurry action, it does provoke AoOs since it doesn't say it doesn't and since it's not an actual move one cannot use Acrobatics to ignore AoOs. But with just one enemy, that's not an issue. Although it can ONLY be used then doing a Flurry, so can't mix it with standard action attacks and regular moves... though since it's NOT a move action nothing I see prevents Eirik from taking a 5' step in the same round, using normal rules for that.

I think we just took a Delay Action until Vespula got her action in, and then we act later on the same round.

Right you are, that's a +1 to hit to all attacks, so worst would hit AC 23

Didn't that PoE get uncast because we ended up having just one round to prepare before Eirik got the door open?

male

[drumroll]Here be the rulings...[/drumroll]

Flying kick is like a pounce and the movement does not have to be in a straight line. Aren't you glad I talked you into it? :)

Everyone is 'delaying' until Ves points out the enemy so Noravia will only cast align weapons this turn.

If PfE is not in the 'status table then it's probably not cast.

Questions?

Game on!

male

Vandomir?

Ves?

I have time to recap later today...

Ves bounded in for the attack - then bounced to a stop, feinting towards the same point, and tracking an invisible, moving target.
Pinpoint and full defence, if possible.
