1 to 50 of 83 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Greetings.

I'm looking to gather a small group (3 or 4) for an apprentice-level game on the boards. Still evaluating both Super Genius Games and Tricky Owlbear offerings to start the game off.

We'd start off RP heavy and if time / technology allows transition to RPTools. I've used RPTools in the past, but haven't tested it with my current router set up.

Disclaimer:
The Pathfinder game I play with friends is currently on hold. If and when it picks back up I may not be able to keep both going.

If you're still interested read on & post away. I'll think of some crazy way to select those interested if needed.

The Setting:
We'd start of in a mountainous region in proximity to a monastery and boarder town.

The Characters:
Core and Ultimate Combat classes are fine along with Advanced Players Guide Additions. Core races plus Drow and Duergar can be used.

Not sure what you mean by an 'apprentice-level' game.
Do you mean low level characters?
Do you mean people that have never played pathfinder?
Do you mean people that have never palyed PbP?

Pathfinder Maps, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Maps, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

From the companies referenced, he obviously means zero level characters, using the rules given in their products for that purpose. These characters would start out with approximately half the abilities of a 1st level character.

Aha, I don't have those products to realize that.
Thanks.

Leave me out of the running in that case since I don't have whatever rules are being discussed.

Grand Lodge

dotting. have an idea for a drow shopkeeper.

question: are we going to be advancing in levels and gaining classes?

@ Gronk Thanks for the questions. I'd by happy to help set up a character for you once I decide on the rule set. And David is right on as far as the rules I am mentioning.

@ David Thanks for addressing the question.

@ Ayed Yes, levels and classes will be gained. (will add a campaign description with more info. for clarity).

I'm interested, but I'd like to know more.

Dark Archive

Well, you have my interest.

Grand Lodge

Ok cool! I'll have an alias posted tonight with details

I'm interested.

Thanks all. I've settled on the Super Genius Games guide. I'll toss up more details in the campaign description. Once you've decided like you want to be in the game toss up your initial ideas for a character in the discussion. Once we get three characters fleshed out we'll get started. I'll keep the game open for a fourth.

Im not intimately familiar with 0th-level characters; how do we do stats and wealth and whatnot?

The quick break down follows, but if you have a specific class in mind I can toss some specifics your way.

- All race specific stuff stays the same as core Pathfinder.
- For hit dice use one half max for your class and add 1/2 Con modifier (round down).
- For skills you get half of your class allotment and only gain +1 for class skills. No more than one rank in any one skill.
- Armor/Weapon proficiencies are the same.
- No Feats
- You may select one trait with my approval
- Spells are more complicated, so message me if you have a specific spell using class in mind.

Grand Lodge

how are we doing stats?
also i decided on a drow rogue

edit: i imagine we do not get class abilities such as sneak attack?
another edit: i stumbled upon the trait Stealthy Escape, since part of his background is escaping slavery and people who wished to capture/harm him because of his race, i think it seemed appropriate

Here is a rough outline. I wasn't sure on the specifics for class abilities such as saves, so I apologize for any mistakes. Please critique, thanks!

I forgot to mention starting gold. Starting gold is 1/2 normal by class.
Also, a note I forgot to add. Use the purchase method for ability scores. We'll start with Low Fantasy (10 points). There will be non-core ability bumps during the transition from 0-lvl to 3rd lvl.

@ Ayed Sending you a pm about your character.

So far it looks like we have two solid characters started. Is there a third out there that is interested? I'd be willing to start things off with two, but three would be great.

What roles do you have filled so far? I might be interested if there's a role open I am interested in. Thanx :) Was thinking of a Dwarf Cleric of Desna working towards Luck and Liberation Domains. I would assume I have prolly 1 or 2 zero-level spell I cast. the only question is it "spammable" like an orison?

Grand Lodge

I present to you Vinhinan, Dwarf Cleric of Desna. Only thing missing is background and spells when I learn how to do it :)

So far we have a cleric and a rogue. Another cleric isn't a bad thing, but I'll pm you notes concerning a 0 lvl cleric and deities (I'm using a much smaller pantheon).

Grand Lodge

I can remake him into something else so you're not doubled up on something.

How about a Dwarf Fighter instead so there is a "tank"?

A fighter would be fine. I can't seem to send you a private message. Not sure what the deal with that is.

Grand Lodge

K let me rework his stats real quick and gear then I'll be set...I'll try and PM u when done so that way we can see if it is working or not :)

Grand Lodge

K all updated and ready and I cannot send PM either...strange

Looks good. I haven't had an issue sending a PM to anyone else so I'm not sure what the deal is. I'll just spoiler the fighter specifics for you.

Fighter:

Hit Die: d5 + 1/2 Con mod.
Skill points: 1 + 1/2 Int mod.
BAB: +1
Fort Save: +1
Ref Save: +0
Will Save: +0
Abilities: Bonus feat (Fighter feat)

Looks like we have three. I have some background information to finish up to send along for Silx. B.T. has some background information that I sent.

@ Aak What are your thoughts about how you ended up in the area? Are you from the area? I'll work up some background information for the half-orcs in the area depending on your thoughts.

I'll leave things open for a fourth if someone shows interest, but we'll get things going once I've gotten background information to everyone.

If you all can post in discussion with your character we'll continue background development there.

No worries. :-)

I am interested, but a bit confused with this thread's shift to some private messages.

The group has a Cleric, Rogue, and Fighter? Is a fourth PC still welcome? May I submit a bard or barbarian?

Actually, you seem to be missing an arcane character. Thus, I submit Nelith Shadowgrove, apprentice (Or what are the classes for a 0-th level arcane character ?)
Skills/Background/will be up in a few hours.

One additional character is welcomed. A Bard, Barbarian, or arcane character would be fine. I'll see what the others' preferences are as far as class and get back to you. Until then toss a bit of background up concerning your proposed character.

Done. (unless you want a bigger background story ?).
Also, should our size be small, since we're children ?

Umm we're apprentices, not children. Means we're like civilians lol

Nelith wrote:

I'll send you the info for 0-lvl casters.

0 lvl characters are normal characters without all the same abilities. It's sort of like starting a character at half level. Someone who is still in training.

Sure. But mountains with a monastery and border town is not much to go on. Is this barren frigid tundra or rocky but lush forest? Is the border town known for anything (imperial garrison that flies on griffons, exports a famous high elevation tea, etc?) or is it simply a farming town that also serves as a caravan spot for trade goods for itself and the monastery? Does the monastery house tranquil monks of Irori or diabolical cultists?

For background for your character go with whatever you like. Don't worry about fitting the campaign. I'm adjusting background of the campaign according to character backgrounds.

Okay. Will do.

If nobody would have a preference for the monasery's deity, I would like to have a Pharasman one. How about the cleric /Does he want a temple of Desna ?

Sir Egon D'Clausanne wrote:

I am using a much smaller pantheon that does not include Desna. I posted the deity info. in the Discussion thread if you're curious (it's basically three dwarven focused).

davidvs here -- sorry for the delay, forums were under maintenance yesterday and then today twice ate my new alias profile edits!

A half-frozen gnome limps towards town. Does he find hospitality at the tavern or keep, or die before reaching those sparse bits of civilization?

Here is the basics of what might become a gnome illusionist bard. I'm still brainstorming backstory (both why he is in this part of the world and what it means to be a "Varisian male gnome fortune-teller") and needing time to type it up. I have no emotional ties to anything about this potential PC -- would Lareg kindly look it over and message me with parts that seem well done or needing changes? Thanks!

I'll send you some specific info. for the 0-lvl bard options. I'll put some thought into how gnomes fit into the campaign I have in mind based on the characters we have so far. I should be able to get you some background options to consider tomorrow.

Recruitment is now closed. Thank you for your interest.

Looking for someone interested in taking over the cleric spot. Post or send me a PM.

Feel free to propose non-traditional healers. Pionics characters welcome.

Grand Lodge

How about i change from Fighter to Crusader Cleric...here is the basic crunch. Let me know what you think...keeping the same background and other feat just reworking the crunch.

Strength 12 (2)
Dexterity 15 (3)
Constitution 12 (2)
Intelligence 10 (0)
Wisdom 13 (3)
Charisma 10 (0)

Domain:

Ferocity Subdomain

Associated Domain: Strength.

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the strength surge power of the Strength domain.

Ferocious Strike (Su): Whenever you make a melee attack, you can designate that attack as a ferocious strike. If the attack hits, it deals additional damage equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum +1). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Replacement Domain Spells: 3rd—rage, 6th—bull's strength (mass).

1st Level Feat: Two-Weapon Fighting
Bonus Crusader Feat: Improved Shield Bash

(slow clap) That's one of the best combinations of tank and healer.

I think that would work fine. If you're thinking you'd like to go that route I'd say go for it. We can play this opener out as is or with the changes as Aak hasn't been involved in the battle directly yet.

Grand Lodge

Let me work on getting it down to "paper" and I will let you know when I am ready. Sorry but the past couple days have been crazy lol Also can you PM what feats I would start off with and spells since I am now a caster thanx :)

Is recruitment closed again? I feel like I just missed the boat on a really great opportunity.

@ Aak - no hurry, we may have an option for a new player. I'll toss you info. tomorrow.
@ Lucent - We do have a spot for a healer type. If you're interested toss up your ideas here.
