The mountain air was a blessing, the city air had been bad for Daseem's head, real bad. OK it wasn't exactly the city air, polluted by the forges as it was. No, it was the ale. More accurately barrels of ale, plural. Tended to mess with one's system, so a wee hike was well in order. A constitutional if you may...

At first Daseem was oblivious to the workers as he trampled through their fields but after a while it started to bother him although he wasn't sure why. He accosted one of the workers and asked, "Eh? W-why so glum? You've got a nice view and lots o' crops."

Before they leave Janderhoff, Bupkis buys a nice pair of special warm boots, which are supposed to help keep his whole body warm in the cold mountain air of the camp. He also renews his supplies of crossbow bolts and food.

Buying Boots of the Winterlands for 2500 gp.

He suggests to Daseem, "Maybe workers are slaves? Giants don't treat small folk nicely."

Are the workers humans?

"Oh, look! We have the same boots!" Amira calls out in excitement, as she meets Bupkis after her shopping trip. "They are a bit bulky and lack the elegance of some ankle high black leather boots, but at least they keep my feet warm. Also they match nicely with these warm pants and the fur coat. This mountain climate isn't made for frilly dresses. It's a pity, isn't it?"

In those heavy clothes, Amira looks more like a small bear than a halfling. Only if viewed from the front where her face looks out of the fur one could make a guess.

Ivan spent most of their time in the city doing two things. Drinking, and forging. The latter taking up the majority. Every hammer blow was a homage to his father, and his father's father and so forth. Dusting the armor with diamond to add in hammering the magic latent in the air into it. The heat sealing it in permanently. During this time, he was a dwarf dedicated and focused on but one thing. His craft. A giant could have been standing right next to him and he would not have noticed. His work was not done, however he had made progress, and done his ancestors proud. His armor, a vibrant green, shimmered brighter in the sun, and his shield a light blue shone brilliantly in the light.

During what time he allowed himself rest, he managed to purchase a pair of gauntlets, the seller promising him that their magic would strengthen his blows, and make his strikes swifter along with some minor trinkets. His armor, though resplendent was coated with furs for their journey.

Oi, farmer. Have you grown tired of tendin' fields? If nay, answer the lad on what makes ye so downtrodden.

Daseem's voice was tinged with madness as he laughed when the Hag futilely scrabbled at the air. Sure she managed to scratch him but the point of his blade found her throat and he pushed and he kept on pushing, merciless as the seasons!

He also called one more on Gorum's aid to keep him in the fight. 9 dmg - 5 due to the bone = 4 damage incoming, but he healed 11 so he's up 7 total this round.

Daseem found a new sheath for his sword and shoves it in to the hilt. The hag gargles as the bloody foam from the destroyed lungs finds it's way out of her mouth. Then she collapses into a heap of dead flesh.

Ivan turns on the rhino, and with a hard punch on the nose makes it lose interest and run away.

The workers in the field start cheering, throw their tools away and run.

Bupkis offers,"Anyone needs healing?"

Anyone willing to accept a point of burn (10 non-lethal damage which goes away after next full rest) can heal for 5d6+10.

"Let's continue on to Frost Giant village."

Marching uphill towards the snow covered mountains takes some more hours. The vegetation gets more and more scarce. Only conifers grow where the snow starts covering the place, and after a while even that ends and white plains of snow covered rock is all that remains.

And from the edge of this forest you can see a hint of the village. On top of a steep rock face on a higher plateau you see the upper half of a tower like wooden building. The size suggests it is built for giants.

"Eh, t'is a l-long way up there." remarked Daseem who was pointing at what might be the village, "Hope we don't get s-spotted!" Climbing high was bad enough without dodging boulders!

"If you have a plan, then I can hit all of us with invisibility. And haste, so we can run faster to close the gap between here and the village."

Perhaps, it would be better to simply try and make the sprint. That would be a lot of magic used. Of course, depending on how many they throw... Well, I may be able ta keep 'em off us.

"If you're confident you can deal with all that come for us, if we're noticed, I'm fine with that too."

"As an alternative, I could magic four of us directly there. Into that watch tower. Could have some side effects though, if there is no room for us."

Daseem looked at Amira askance and muttered cynically, "Hoodoo has s-sideeffects..."

Actually dimension dooring us there, or at the base of the tower sounds like quite a good idea. Much less opportunity for giants to use us as target practice.

It's limited people, though. One of us would be left to make our own way across the field.

"Actually, Ivan, I think Amira's first plan is the better idea. It's a lot of magic, true, but catching the giants in the watch tower unaware is worth the cost, I think."

Female Halfling Songhealer(12) - Ini+10, HP75 AC 20/16/15, F+7/R+15/W+11, Perc+2, SpC+23

Amira searches for a stick and places it in front of her on the ground. "Invisibility it is then. I'll cast silence once we're close to the watchtower. Follow the stick, so we stay together."

Amira does the castings and last she disappears too. Then the stick levitates from the ground and moves towards the tower.
