Dunk closes with the remaining worm and has at it.
Ultrathin Longsword: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17
Slashing Damage: 4d8 + 18 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 8) + 18 = 41

Game Master S |

But he slips in some of the garbage!
Round 1:
Dunklezahn: Miss
Booker: Kill
Hack-it: Go
Janzi: Go
Hostiles: TBD
Gig: TBD
Grey: 122
Red: 82

Hack-It |

Hack-It and Hum both fire upon the remaining creature.
Hack-It: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Hum: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
3d8 + 10 ⇒ (7, 8, 7) + 10 = 32

Torin Janzi |

Janzi takes aim at Red with his liquidator disintegrator pistol.
blam: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
acid: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
10/20 charges used.

Game Master S |

Hack-it and Hum blast only the wall, but Janzi scores a solid hit. Both worms, seriously injured, but desperately hungry for nourishment, fight on. It tries to bite at Dunklezahn repeatedly!
Bite: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 4 = 22
Bite: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 12 - 4 = 27
but can't connect!
Round 1:
Dunklezahn: Miss
Booker: Kill
Hack-it: Miss
Janzi: Hit
Hostiles: ATK
Gig: Go
Red: 95

Gig Razorbyte |

Gig realizes that he needs even more firepower. Spreading his legs and shaking his hands out like He was preparing for a gun fighter’s duel, Gig cats another Arcing Surge at the worm.
Arcing surge: 10d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 6, 4, 5, 6, 1, 6, 2) + 5 = 40
”Time to bite the dust varmin!”

Game Master S |

REF: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Gig's spell works far better than expected. The worm is clearly electrocuted, and it smells like burned meat in the already gross room!
For killing the creatures in the garbage dump on the detention dock level, the party earns 12,800 XP.

![]() |

This room is disgusting and we're on a time limit. I'll cover the approach if any of you want to toss the room. Otherwise, I'm ready to advance.

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker puts a hand on Gig's shoulder. "Not bad, cowboy. We've got a long way to go yet, though, so save yer fancy magic when bullets'll suffice."
He gives the room a cursory glance for anything obviously valuable poking out of the dump (T10 Perception for 23), then nods to the vesk. "Let's keep moving." The veteran scouts ahead (T10 Stealth for 30) and listens carefully at the doors to the north (T10 Perception for 23 again).

Game Master S |

In the dump is a cabinet by the door. It's unlocked. Within the cabinet Booker finds a merciful venomous paragon semiauto pistol (with 16 small arm rounds), 3 doses of tier 3 sedatives (likely used to sedate a surnoch if it becomes unruly), and 3 doses of sprayflesh.
Booker doesn't hear anything or see anything at the door, but the door is locked. The sign above is written in Eoxian.
BRIG

Torin Janzi |

Janzi reads the sign. Hmm, we may have found a good permanent home for Hack-It, he says with a smirk. It's a brig.

Gig Razorbyte |

Gig looks for a panel to unlock the door and begins trying to break the codes.
Computers: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36
"Howdy, door. Open sesame!"

Game Master S |

Gig fiddles with the voice recognition software until something clicks. At the end of his "magic words" The door lock replies "Welcome Major Ivernerak."
The door then slides open. This room is brighter than most of the ship, with crisp white light flooding down from the entire ceiling. A series of four barred cells runs the length of the aft wall, each with a barred door with a keypad lock. A metal cabinet hangs on the fore wall, behind a small metal desk with a computer terminal and a metal chair built into it. Map updated.

Hack-It |

"I know you think you're funny, Janzi. But suffice it to say that no brig would hold me."
Hack-It goes over to the computer terminal to see (and hack) what he can use.
Computers: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33

Game Master S |

Hack-it has no problems getting into the system. He cannot only open and close the cell doors but also learns that the cells are supposed to contain “four dwarf-form corporeal undead: names unknown, loyalties unknown” who were imprisoned 6 months ago. There’s no note of these prisoners ever being released, even though the cells appear to be empty.
Booker confirms that the cells are empty.
Booker: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 (Darkvision 60')
Dunklezahn: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 (Darkvision 60')
Gig: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
Hack-it: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 (Darkvision 60')
--->Hum: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Janzi: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25

Hack-It |

"Looks like there's four traitors that they had locked up. The enemy of my enemy, and all that?"

Game Master S |

As the party wonders what happened to the prisoners you hear the sound of metal scraping against metal. It's very faint, but you think it's coming from the floor boards just in front of the cabinet.

![]() |

Dunk pivots to face the desk and Hack-it. He snorts and rushes forward, using his jet boots to launch himself over the desk to land on the other side in front of the cabinet, next to Hack-It.
Hoping to Bullrush or knock aside anyone that might be in that spot.

Booker Broadshaw |

"They're undead. Not likely to be friendly. I say we leave 'em." Booker replies to Hack-It, then tightens his grip on his rifle as he watches Dunklezahn move suddenly to the desk.

Game Master S |

Dunklezahn's quick action proves fortuitous! A quartet of undead dwarves erupt from under the floor boards! The massive vesk is the only thing between them and Hack-it!
Round 1:
Booker: Go
Dunklezahn: Go
Gig: Go
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
Hostiles: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Booker: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Dunklezahn: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Gig: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Hack-it: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Janzi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Booker Broadshaw |

"Well, whaddaya know, they ain't friendly," Booker mutters, raising his rifle.
Sniper Shot @ Blue: 1d20 + 18 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 18 - 2 + 1 = 35
Damage: 2d10 + 13 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5) + 13 + 5 + 1 = 29
Clip: 3/4 rounds.

Game Master S |

Booker wastes no time at all, nailing blue with a shot from his rifle. The undead dwarf continues to fight as if nothing happened though.
Round 1:
Booker: Hit
Dunklezahn: Go
Gig: Go
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
Blue: 29

![]() |

As the blaster fire flies past to strike Blue, Dunklezahn closes with the same dwarf and stabs in at it.
Ultrathin Longsword: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 16 - 2 = 28
Slashing Damage: 4d8 + 18 + 5 ⇒ (7, 4, 8, 4) + 18 + 5 = 46

Torin Janzi |

"Well, whaddaya know, they ain't friendly," Booker mutters, raising his rifle.
Color me shocked, yeah, Janzi says, moving into the room and taking his own shot at Blue with his liquidator disintegrator pistol.
blam: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
acid: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
12/20 charges used.

Game Master S |

Dunklezahn whips around and nails the marooned one with his longsword. The two total hits rock the undead, though he doesn't drop. Unfortunately Janzi can't follow up with another.
Round 1:
Booker: Hit
Dunklezahn: Hit
Gig: Go
Janzi: Miss
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
Blue: 75

Gig Razorbyte |

Gig jumps into the room and quickly moves his hands in somatic gestures to cast Magic Missile on Blue too.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6
"Take that, you varmint!"

Hack-It |

Hack-It steps toward the wall making sure that Dunk is in between him and the dwarves. He then wastes no time firing upon them.
Hack-It: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Sonic Damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 6, 6) + 5 = 19
Hum joins in.
Hum: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Sonic Damage: 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (8, 7, 1) + 10 = 26

Game Master S |

Gig's missiles work as they always do. Hack-it and Hum both fail to connect with the quickly moving undead.
The undead stand up White first, so Dunklezahn gets an AoO on white
The two surrounding the vesk try to shank him with improvised blades:
White v. Dunk: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29 MISS
Blue v. Dunk: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20 MISS
but neither gets through his impressive armor.
The other two apparently have scrounged up some pistols and take aim at Booker:
Black v. Booker: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33 for Piercing: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 = 17
Red v. Booker: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19 MISS
Round 2:
Booker: Go
Dunklezahn: Go + AoO needs bot
Gig: Go
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
Blue: 75

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker barely notices the small arms fire. He keeps his focus on the wounded dwarf.
Sniper Shot @ Blue: 1d20 + 18 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 18 - 2 + 1 = 32
Damage: 2d10 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (2, 8) + 13 + 5 = 28
Clip: 2/4 rounds.

Booker Broadshaw |

BOT
Dunklezahn takes a vicious swing at the closing dwarf.
AoO @ White: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 16 - 2 = 23
Damage: 4d8 + 18 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 8) + 18 + 5 = 38
If Blue is still standing, direct to Blue, otherwise to White:
A grim line creases the vesk's lips. He concentrates on the fight, hacking down with the finely-made blade, then upwards again with a devastating backswing.
Blade @ Blue or White: 1d20 + 16 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 16 - 2 - 4 = 13
Damage: 4d8 + 18 + 5 ⇒ (8, 6, 5, 1) + 18 + 5 = 43
Blade @ Blue or White: 1d20 + 16 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 16 - 2 - 4 = 28
Damage: 4d8 + 18 + 5 ⇒ (5, 8, 6, 1) + 18 + 5 = 43

Torin Janzi |

Janzi moves over to the far wall, taking a shot at Blue to try and give Dunk some help.
blam: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
acid: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
16/20 charges used.

Game Master S |

Booker blasts a shot right into the marooned one's head. Dunklezahn struggles, even with the open shot, but eventually connects, cutting down the first foe!
Round 2:
Booker: Hit
Dunklezahn: Kill
Gig: Go
Janzi: Miss
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD

Gig Razorbyte |

Gig casts another and let’s another three magic missiles fly from his fingertips. The three bolts of force Arc through the air and land unerringly into white.
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 8 ⇒ (4, 2, 1) + 8 = 15

Game Master S |

Gig wastes no time more one the next target, drilling it with a trio of missiles.
Round 2:
Booker: Hit
Dunklezahn: Kill
Gig: MM
Janzi: Miss
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
White: 15

Hack-It |

Hack-It and Hum do their best to help Dunk put the dead dwarf in front of him down.
Hack-It: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Hum: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Yeah... nope

Game Master S |

Hack-it and Hum need to re-calibrate their sights as the undead continue their tireless offense.
The one locked into Dunklezahn shank: 1d20 ⇒ 9 can't get through his armor, while the other two split their focus. One moves to help Dunk's foe, the other closes with Janzi
Red v. Dunklezahn: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 for DMG: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
Black v. Janzi: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29 for DMG: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16
Round 3:
Booker: Go
Dunklezahn: Go
Gig: Go
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
White: 15

![]() |

Dunk sneers as the dwarf slashes at him and return the attack in kind.
Ultrathin Longsword: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 16 - 2 = 33
Slashing Damage: 4d8 + 18 + 5 ⇒ (8, 4, 6, 4) + 18 + 5 = 45

Game Master S |

Dunjlezahn easily connects!
Round 3:
Booker: Go
Dunklezahn: Hit
Gig: Go
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
White: 60

Booker Broadshaw |

Knowing Dunklezahn can handle his own, Booker swivels the barrel a quarter turn to put a bullet in the dwarf accosting Janzi.
Sniper Shot @ Black: 1d20 + 18 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 18 - 2 = 29
Damage: 2d10 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (6, 8) + 13 + 5 = 32
Clip: 1/4 rounds.

Hack-It |

"Damnit Hum, don't bump into me!" Hack-It shouts at his drone, a sign that he's starting to get attached to it. He then punches in a couple commands to recalibrate its aim, then the two point their weapons and shoot!
Hack-It vs White: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Sonic Damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 2, 3) + 5 = 12
Hum vs White: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Sonic Damage: 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 8, 6) + 10 = 27

Gig Razorbyte |

Gig decides it’s time for some target practice. With a quick draw, he fires off a blast from his disruption pistol at White.
Minor Disruption Pistol: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Sonic Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 (Crit = Staggered)
Gig’s dimensional disruption weapon creates a streamlike gravitational wave function that disrupts subatomic fields in an effect similar to a sonic attack, and staggers its target as the wave function momentarily disrupts the fabric of space around the target.

Game Master S |

Booker blows a hole through one foe, who keeps coming with a wordless snarl.
Gig's shot is right on target! The damage is minor, but the shock staggers him!
Hum still misses, eliciting a series of beebs that clearly aren't good. Hack-it hits though!
Round 3:
Booker: Hit
Dunklezahn: Hit
Gig: Crit
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Hit
Undead: TBD
White: 75 (Staggered 1 round)
Black: 32

Torin Janzi |

Janzi grimaces as the undead dwarf strikes him, but still manages to needle Hack-It: Doesn't that glob o' grease do whatever you program it to? So you're bumping in to yourself, then?
He takes a guarded step away from Black and opens fire.
blam: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
acid: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
20/20 charges used. First time in ten levels I've used up a whole battery pack. LOL

Hack-It |

Hack-It scoffs in response to Janzi, who obviously has no understanding of the complexities of drone technology.

Game Master S |

With a pair of injured undead, and one who hasn't face the fire yet, they see no reason to press. For the first time one speaks, "Why are you even fighting? You're on a ship full of death!"
They don't slow down at all. The one closest to Janzi drops his weapon and tries to grab hold of him! CM: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23 but can't get his hands around his life support!
The other two adjust a bit and try to gut Dunklezahn from flanking:
Red shank: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30 MISS
White shank: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32 for DMG: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12
Round 3:
Booker: Go
Dunklezahn: Go
Gig: Go
Janzi: Go
Hack-it: Go
Undead: TBD
White: 75 (Staggered 1 round)
Black: 46

Hack-It |

"We're fighting because you idiots want to essentially blow up the galaxy!" Hack-It retorts, again firing weapons from point blank range.
Hack-It vs White: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Hum vs White: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Sonic Damage: 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (8, 3, 3) + 10 = 24

Torin Janzi |

Oh, yeah, use logic with a dead dwarf. That's sound reasoning, Janzi says, moving back from Black while fumbling for a new battery pack for his liquidator.
Rules say a single action to reload a weapon but are silent about putting on a new battery pack.
