Lol!
Sounds like it's no more than a half season replacement.
I think our heroes spent 45 minutes of the hour long show, debating on whether the irons or the brazier would attack first. And the fact that Morbury's lines consisted of, "I can't see... watch out for the irons." Followed by, "I can't see... watch out for the irons." And to top it off, he finished up with, "I can't see... watch out for the irons." Somehwere within all that fantastic depth of writing, the ratings just took a tumble. It's a mystery as to why. *shrugs*

I can tell you, a couple of years back when I went over to my brother's house, he was cooking out on his new grill. Well, being the absent minded guy that I am, I went out back to talk to all who were out there and intelligently rested my hand upon the grill. About a half a second later(which seemed like an eternity) it registered, and I was dousing my hand in the swimming pool.
I cannot describe the pain.
After a few days, the area around the palm of my hand looked like a 3 or 4 day old sunburn on your shoulders or something, all the dead skin peeling away.
Man that hurt.
Still nothing like a branding iron I would guess, but painful nontheless.

You do a mild rant when getting a hot poker in the face and people start getting worried. Seriously, people haven't any of you gotten branded with heated metal on the face before?
Yeah, me neither, but I imagine it must really suck.
Hah! Kay wasn't really worried, but I figured the shaonti thing to do when confronted with frustration or pain to to vent it through displays of physical exertion. Much more of a here's my beatstick vent your frustration and pain by hitting the blasted things really hard, than a significant worry or deep concern over his appropriate reaction.

On a side note I've been trying to come up with how my character would react to the sudden appearance of a ghost. Even if it seems to not want to do us harm; I can't see her being in any way friendly to what amounts to an undead abomination.
Given her established prejudices and her position as a bit of a loose cannon the most strict IC path would be for her to attempt to initiate combat and destroy the ghost/haunt.
OOC I wouldn't want to put a damper on the fun of things by adhering to IC constraints. So if anyone wishes to intervene I'm perfectly fine with anyone attempting to stop her rash reaction before she follows through with her actions. I would however say that the stress of the situation kicks in her tongues curse so talking her down with a simple diplomacy check would work for anyone who can speak celestial a grapple check for anyone else is fine as well.
Otherwise I imagine her actions will initiate combat if left unchecked, so I'm comfortable letting anyone interrupt her at any point if they so wish. That way I can remain faithful to being IC without strong arming and driving the party into something they don't wish to occur.

Honestly, I wouldn't expect Kayela to respond any other way. I think it's the perfect reaction for her. Totally fits who she it. I was just waiting for it. I knew she was gonna do something, just wasn't sure what. :)
Kayela's hand glows white with divine power and she lunges towards the ghost fist raised high in an attempt to sucker punch the aberration with divine magic.
Bolded part cracks me up! Sucker punch a ghost! That's greatness! :)

Yeah, I believe Rich Burlew said it well with...
"Separate your character's thoughts from your own thoughts, but don't forget who is in control of both personalities. The division between your personality and that of your character only goes so far as it helps the game; once it begins becoming a disruption, a player has a responsibility to alter his or her character's decisions in the interest of the group. In the end, your relationships with the people you are sitting in someone's living room with are more important than your character's internal consistency."
To that end doing anything IC that might not be where the group I'm playing with wants to necessarily go I prefer to temper it with manageable workarounds. To keep up consistency while not disrupting anyone's fun.
"My character would..." to me is a poor excuse for ruining or screwing with another persons fun. Within reasonable limits, of course. :)
I've been waiting to use CLW to harm undead and use that sucker punch line for 99% of this game. Glad I finally found an appropriate moment to use it. :p

Man, I hope you're able to find you a job, buddy. I'm sorry to hear that. That stinks.
My posting is gonna be a bit non-existant over the weekend, just fyi. From this coming Saturday 'til Monday. It's possible I might, but just in case not, thought I'd let you know.

No worries, Galahad. You do what you need to do. That job search comes first. It's hard to do anything when you're looking for a means to put food on the table and keep the lights on. We're all still around, bro. I hope and pray you find that job, my man. I'm sorry it's been so difficult for you.

Today, Thursday the 3rd, I will be attending the Mighty Marvel Marathon, watching Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man II, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers. I will therefore most likely have spotty attendance in my games, though I will try to post when possible.
