Multiclassing is relatively easy. Each class has a stat requirement, and if you meet that requirement, you can multiclass in it. If you're a Wizard with 14 Charisma, you can multiclass into Bard, for example.
You're also always advancing your main class, and multiclass options replace your class features.
Classes are very Chinese menu-style anyway. Every few levels you can choose between several options, so not all Alchemists might throw bombs, for example. Only very few class features are class-specific and can't be multiclassed into, such as a Rogue Racket (the way Rogues attack, basically. Whether you're a feint build, or use Strength or Dexterity to attack), or any other sub-class (many classes have sub-classes that define their build).
EDIT: that said, I've taken a look at the available Transmutation spells, and I don't think Justin will be as awesome a transmuter as he is now. On the plus side, save or suck spells are a lot better now. Enemies are likely to succeed on their saves, I feel, but they still have a lessened ecfect for at least a turn.

PF2 has drastically reduced buffing. Buffing still does a lot, because a +1 bonus does a lot in PF2, but gone are the days of needing a spreadsheet to keep track of seven different buffs from three different casters.
I'm reading the LO Gods and Magic now for AR and that one adds quite a bit of spice to spellcasting.

I'm leaving for this larp on wednesday.
I'll be back on sunday. But I dont expect to be able to post untill monday at the earliest.
Dayo |
Hopefully.
The first Covid-19 death in California happened at the hospital up the street from me, and that patient's cul-de-sac is cordoned off by police at the moment, so depending on how things go I might have LOTS of time for PbP ^_^
Anyone else involved with Outpost III? I'm GMing my first online session of PFS2.
Eoghan Miskos |
I'm still here, alive and kicking.
I'm not involved in any other online games, sorry.
GM Woran |
Sorry for my absence people. I had to get away from the internet for a bit. The country (netherlands) is on partial lockdown. And the whole situation is triggering a lot of my anxieties.
I am not concerned for myself. But there are a lot of people around me for which this could turn deadly.
Also since we're deemed 'essential' (my ass), I still have to go to the office, and work has been trough the roof, with overtime as well. To make sure others can work from home.
Dayo |
After I noticed the game disappeared from my list I mentally resounded Dayo to retirement. I've already statted him up tentatively as a PFS2 character instead. Waiting on the release of the APG.
Keeping up with PF1 knowledge was something I was finally happy to let go of.
I loved playing with you guys, but the wide gaps in inactivity aren't something I want to risk enduring again. And I'm fearful that the other Campaign BNW and I are in is also not coming back =/
Will definitely see you elsewhere on the Forums, tho! ^_^
Dayo |
I sympathize with your anxiety. I have a lot of friends who aren't doing well right now, either. I've been looking for work for three months now myself so I'm basically in the same boat. And I don't want to further burden you with a brand new Campaign, or converting this one to PF2. That's a lot of work.
GM Woran |
The beauty of PbP and non organised play is that is that you can always house rule something. And progression is slower then a face to face game.
If we'd play this in an afternoon around the table, I'd need to convert several encounters at the same time. In play by post, I can convert one encounter while we're busy going trough the previous one.
Would it be perfect in the beginning? Nah. But it would be a good excersize, especially since I want to play more PF2 myself. I love PF1, but PF2 is just a better system I think.
It would leave us with Justin's character, but I think we can 'smuggle' a bit. APG is sceduled for a gencon release I think, so that is not too far away. And if we scrap the fight (as in, assume you guys would eventually win), we've got a lot of roleplay ahead, so we'd be rules light for a while.
Eoghan Miskos |
I'm up to play whichever version everyone prefers. I still play a lot of PF1, but also dipping my toes in PF2.
I'd like to continue playing as well (as long as everyone else wants to), this is a fun group of people and I'd like to see where it goes.
Dayo |
Honestly, I'm hesitant.
(this is probably going to come off as a grouchy rant)
Converting to PF2 is the easier part (IMO). I statted up Tengus and Tieflings for two of my homegame players, which only took me maybe a few hours, so making a Ratfolk for BNW shouldn't be any more difficult. Most of the creatures in this AP probably exist on archivesofnethys already, so just use whatever the AP calls for. Skill DCs have been standardized. NPCs would probably be the only things that need crafting, but even then, you could just sub in something from Nethys. And, like you said, if a question comes up, we have the freedom to craft the answer. Or we can even wait until APG comes out to minimize homebrew.
But my biggest trepidation is pacing, and I don't have an easy fix for that.
I mentioned back in December that the inactivity of this game was really killing my interest. I'm used to everyone posting at least once a day, if not more so. I know it's possible, because the majority of my PbP games move that fast. Obviously a weekend here or there is understandable. That's life. But when delays are repetitive, it feels like nobody is interested anymore. How many times have just a couple of us RPed back and forth until there was nothing left to say?
I have some suggestions, but would need everyone on board:
I realize that's asking a lot, but I really invest a lot of energy into my characters, and it's emotionally draining when day by day or week by week goes by with no communication. Since I'm checking the Forums daily, it just serves as a regular reminder that nothing is happening.
---------------------------------------------
But I'm still worried that even if we started strong, the pandemic could get worse or the holidays would delay us again and it would just all fall apart again.

While I don't feel as strongly about it as Dayo, I do kinda agree that a post a day really helps liven things up. I think we were mostly good with that, though.
Agreeing to more proactively bot people would help, I think, though I fear it might take away some of the roleplay aspects if that happens too much.
I recently GMed two PbP scenarios; one where indeed people posted every single day, and things went really smoothly. And the other just kinda meandered, with some people not being able/forgetting to post every day, and then it really drags on a bit.
GM Woran |
I think if we cut Snowflake, it would probably help a lot, as he's just irregular in posting. Just because I'm married to him doesnt mean I should cut him some slack. Also, honeslty, I got a bit tired of reminding him. Would I miss him? Probably a bit because I KNOW he can do amazing roleplay if he's in the zone.
We'd still be a bit wonky with the time zones, as Eoghan, Vitro and I are all in GMT + 1, which puts us roughly 6 to 9 hours ahead of where Dayo and Justin are.
So our 'active hours' dont overlap (as american evening is our sleepy time). But we've worked with that before.
If you're all up for trying one more time, we can defenitely do the conversion. Waiting for the APG however will be a good thing. We can scrap the fight and do the fallout and consequences and investiagation that comes after in the meantime. Or wait for the APG (because there will be some things in there that will make it easier is all I can say)
Dayo |
Totally didn't know you guys were married O.O
Let's wait for the APG so we can all see what character options are available, and give you time to swap out enemy stats and skill DCs ^_^
Tentatively, Dayo will be a Fighter with the Aldori archetype. His focus was on dexterously swinging his sword, after all, and not really being much of a Monk, so there's not really an RP change there.
He just dons a Chain Shirt and takes the rings out of his Broadsword (unless something similar gets released in APG).
