Jurgen is distracted by the momentary shower of gore and gets hit in the back. Be edges back a bit, drops the battleaxe in the square east of him in case Heir or Araklifest want to pick it up. (He's still holding the dagger in his other hand.)
He then flicks a wand out of his sleeve and heals himself.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Araklifest |
Araklifest casts another ray again. They don't do a lot of damage, but the touch attack is almost every time a hit and that counts too.

Round 5
Heir 20 damage
Araklifest
Zoma-Khat
Jurgen 11 damage
Zombie
Everyone is up!
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
If Araklifest shot at blue, wouldn't that have prevented him from attacking and critting Heir? It matters quite a bit for what I'll do on my turn. Also, if you decide to use Blue's to-hit roll on me then, it wouldn't confirm because of the cover from the corner.
GM Woran |
That would depend on interpreting the mindlessness of the zombies. Blue was right next to Heir. Its a choice between attacking what is in front of you, vs a target far off. I personally see zombies as the type to mostly ignore threats in favor for warm brains. If instead you mean that the damage should have incapacitated blue, then that was not the case. It needed more damage to explode.
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
Oh, never mind, I confused Zoma-Khat with Araklifest, hadn't registered on me that ZK was doing stuff, but acting after not before the zombies.
Jurgen's hit pretty hard by that zombie again, but Heir looks even worse off. Jurgen takes advantage of the cover provided by the hard corner to paddle back a bit to Heir and tap him with the wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Heir de Bonaire |
Heir rolls with the uppercut to his head right into the next square (5 foot step), clicks it out of his wrist sheath and and pokes himself with it
"You would have made an excelent sparing partner when alive.... "

Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
With Heir ready for action again Jurgen turns to tend to his own injuries.

"Yikes! Look out where you're blasting! I'm practically a lighting rod in this armor!"
A bit disappointed in the last surge of juice, Jurgen heals again.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
And he steps back to give ZK some clear shooting lines.
Araklifest |
Again fires Araklifest one of his rays, sapping the zombie from his energy even more.

GM Woran |
Heir: Makes another dent in the zombie.

The last zombie explodes in a shower of gore!
fort save heir: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
We are out of initiative
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
"Is everyone alright? Are any of you proficient in the medicinal arts? These kind of zombies can be infectious, we should take a moment to ensure we're all alright. Also, that we're slightly less covered in GORE. Yeesh."
Jurgen starts using Prestidigitation to clean himself and the others of zomgore.
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
"Are everyone's wounds clean and healed up? This is not a good environment in which to have open wounds.."
GM Woran |
Cleaned up, you take a quick look around the room.
A recess in the southeast corner of the room contains one a backpack. Sitting atop a large bloodstain, this pack holds some rotten rations, a map (detailing the area and pointing out the entrance to the crypt), a potion of cure moderate wounds, a pouch with 13 gp, and a small handbill (of a type typically found posted in taverns).
Although faded, the handbill clearly reads as a notice of employment, telling all those interested to meet at “The Ranger’s Lament.”
The rangers lament is a popular bar in Tamran, the capital of Nirmathas. The handbill does not mention a time, date, or who the employer might be.
Araklifest |
Araklifest hands the potion to one of his comrads, keeping the money himself, as well as the map and the bill. "This bill was from one of the intruders that came before the youngsters, I think."
GM Woran |
With the contents of the pack studied, you carefully open the next door. updated the map
A shallow reflecting pool divides this long chamber, running from one end to the other. The water looks cloudy and stagnant. What must have once been marvelous murals covering both walls are now scorched and ruined, the original subject lost in the destruction.
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
Jurgen eyes the basin skeptically, motions everyone into a "ready to receive" formation, then tosses a pebble in with an overhand throw, to see what might stir from the waters.
GM Woran |
will save Jurgen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
will save Araklifest: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Justin and Araklifest carefully enter the room. Looking around, both glimpse their reflection in the pool. The reflection is horrid. A rotting version of yourself. A thing that slowly turns to murder the others in the room.
Both are frightened for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
A couple seconds later Jurgen comes to his senses and comes walking back all casual like, like a cat who wants you to forget you just saw it fall over.
"I'm not sure what that noise is.. I saw myself in the water slashing at you guys. Not sure what's with the water but I think we should avoid looking directly into it."
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Jurgen tries to listen what's making that sound.
Jurgen, The Huntsmaster General |
"What if we lie on the floor, cover up with blankets and then open the door to let them past?"
Araklifest |
Still panting after his rush back into the room where they had defeated the zombies, he waits some moments to regain his breath. "Most bats I ever met were quite eager to attack", he remarks.
