The adventure begins on Absalom Station at the Lorespire Complex, where you receive your assignment from Guidance.

A cluster of sleek black computers rests against the far wall of the meeting room. The Starfinder Society emblem at the center of the server cluster shines and begins projecting a stream of holographic light. The light takes the form of humanoid figure bereft of any definition, standing at the end of the meeting table closest to the servers.

“Greetings, I am Guidance. I have a new assignment for you. Please observe.”

The projection gestures a flicking hand to its side, and a stream of data detailing an outpost made of interconnected circular chambers scrolls beside it. “One of the Pact Worlds’ most prestigious organizations recently discovered a dataset detailing the location of an outpost abandoned over two hundred years ago. The organization has requested that the Starfinder Society dispatch a team of agents to secure the site, along with any remaining equipment or data. Your team will travel to this outpost and retrieve as much information about it as possible. You should also salvage any relevant equipment, which the Society will take as part of its payment. If you have questions, now is the time to present them.”

"You may assured ...” pipes in the high-pitched voice of a white-furred ysoki, beautifully adorned in heavy armor bearing engraved metal bands and glimmering a bright, yellowish hue resembling the glow of the sun. Ensheathed near his left leg hangs a ceremonial blade, which bears a fusion seal that causes it to give off a low, pleasant hum. "the blade of Rozzicheep Bernnshaw has been pledged in service to that of the noble Starfinder Society. Where the Society wishes me to venture, I shall do so to, both to accomplish its worthwhile deeds and to spread the organizations good name!”

The ysoki presents himself with a proper bow to the artificial intelligence as well as his fellow assembled Starfinders. As he does so it, a medallion bearing the holy symbol of the Dawnflower, can be clearly seen dangling from a necklace round his neck. Sarenrae bless us. Every one”. He says as he resumes an upright position.

But do tell us, Guidance, just what ‘prestigious organization’ was it that has made such a discovery? And what are the circumstances that brought about such revelation?”

Behind the rest of the group comes a strong voice, projecting loud and articulate so as to not be misheard, Do we know of any threats the station holds?

The owner of the voice is a lean and serious Ryphorian woman in well kept white and ice blue military fatigues, a symbol on the right shoulder identifying her as a mercenary of the Skyfire Legion. Not a single tuft of her white fur is out of place, and her narrow eyes remain fixed on Guidance as she stands at ease for the mission briefing. She exudes an air of calm authority, though whether she deserves it or not remains to be seen by the rest of the group.

"The reason the Outpost was abandoned remains unknown—and part of the reason you’re all needed to investigate the site. Records indicate the outpost confirmed its arrival and establishment with the hiring organization, but since then there have been limited communications. No reports or responses have been received in over two hundred years.”

Guidance describes the basic environment of the area. "The planet is very high Gravity and a standard atmosphere." Guidance then continues, “Beyond the environment of the planet, it is unknown what threats may exist at the outpost. You should prepare for many possibilities, such as pirates, large predators, hostile native cultures, or supernatural events.”

Please consider the following advantages when making your decision: Drake frames have greater firepower, whereas Pegasus starships are equipped with advanced science labs and sensors. As always, to optimize the chances of completing the assignment, it is recommended that each Starfinder team choose a ship that covers any area of weakness. However, the final decision is based on your personal preference. Safe travels.”

Unit HK45-2 is clearly an android. Its build seems old as he looks more like a machine than a humanoid.

With a mechanical voice he asks Question: All question have been answered I have none.

To his comrades he says Answer: I'm fluent in ancient golarion languages. I'm a protocol droid.

If we have an excellent pilot, the Pegasus is better, if you have a lot of good gunner, the Drake is the one to take.

He adds Answer: I'm a decent pilot and a good gunner. I have also competences in computer and engineering. Despite being a protocol Droid I will not make a good captain.

Lightfoot assesses the damage to the ship. "With some time and the means, the Drake can be easily repaired. It was a shame that the creature came to harm, but at least the conflict was brief." he reports.

Upon landing, Lightfoot puts on his armor and checks the environmental seals. As he disembarks, he smiles as he reflects upon the fact that he is gazing upon a horizon that no one from the Pact Worlds has likely seen in centuries.

One by one the Starfinders activate their environmental protections offered by their armor. Partway to the outpost you come across a small inhabited village. This strange species is humanoid, with rock-like skin.

The village is small, with just under 40 basic structures appropriate to the mountainous terrain. The locals’ technological level is below the norm in the Pact Worlds, but they do have some projectile weapons and basic gas-powered vehicles.

As you pass by the village, two precocious adolescents approach. They, like the other locals, are curious about the arrival of outsiders. The adolescents try to communicate with you, but they know only their own language, so the adolescents try to communicate via hand gestures and other nonverbal clues.

As the apparent natives approach, Lightfoot turns to his companions, "I believe they are curious about us and are making inquiry as to our identities, our mode of travel, and our altercation with the life-form above the planet. If I am correct, then perhaps we can provide them the answers they seek, conveying simple ideas through our gestures and demeanor. I recently had some success with such methods when I so happened to encounter an alien life-form during my Confirmation, if you can believe it. Who would have imagined that such a thing would have occurred during one's Confirmation of all things?"

"Greetings, fellow beings,” Lightfoot says to the native creatures, attempting to imitate their rhythms and gestures in an effort to try and make the natives feel at ease. I am Rozzicheep Bernnshaw, though my friends call me ‘Lightfoot’, and I wish for you to the do the same… that is if you are capable of mimicking a form of speech…” The ysoki points to himself and his companions. Myself and these fellow travelers are Starfinders, a group dedicated to exploring and learning more about lifeforms unknown to us, such as, well…you.” Lightfoot points to natives.

While we share common goals, we are a diverse group with different backgrounds, skills, and interests and hail from different planets. Collectively, our planets of origins are known as the Pact Worlds .” The ysoki searches for a few small rocks or pebbles and attempts to arrange them into a crude model of the planetary system.

Then, hoping he may be close to a communicative breakthrough, Lightfoot holds up the amulet on his necklace, which bears the holy symbol of Sarenrae. I am a follower of Sarenrae, the Dawnflower. She is the Healing Flame, the goddess of stars.” He points at the object at the middle of his crudely formed solar model, indicating the sun.

We departed from Absalom Station, which can be found. here.” He points at a smaller, flatter pebble that he had chosen due to its pointed edges. During our venture here, we encountered a creature of ferocious teeth and quills…” Lightfoot pauses to bare his own teeth and also begins to gesture towards the dueling sword sheathed at his side, which he considers drawing and placing on his back to resemble a quill, but then stops when he concludes that drawing a weapon unprovoked has the potential to spark an interplanetary conflict.

No doubt, the creature was simply looking for sustenance—a need of all living creatures.” The ysoki continues, Though, I am told that this particular creature had a taste for the sort of energy found in a starship’s power core." The ysoki scratches his head momentarily, clearly wrestling with a thought. "Quite the unnatural food source, it would seem, now that I stop to think about it."

The ysoki continues for a brief moment to engage in the mental wrestling match, but must quickly have declared a winner, as he then continues, "Nevertheless, my android companion here…” Lightfoot pauses again. Though initially prepared to introduce his one android companion by name, he stops when he concludes that identifying the self-proclaimed “protocol Droid” during an initial contact as “Hunter Killer” has the potential to spark an interplanetary conflict.

Well, I suppose his name is not presently important,” Lightfoot continues, But, he managed to convince the creature to depart, presumably in search of more suitable prey.”
