I share this discomfort. The Barony is in a good place at the moment. I think we can afford to spend a few weeks in the field."

He pulls out the strategic map. "I suggest we map the areas to our south. We know there there are people of import in both locations, so we must be ready, but I think this is the last thing we need to do before we focus on the task of large scale growth."

I suggest that after everyone level up we map hexes with Mad Hermit and Swamp Witch. Then we explore and map the hex immediately SE of Solasgaard.

Baron Taranis leads the Huntsmen west and then south into uncharted lands. The southern Narlmarches are dense and dark, though some well-traveled trails wind their way their way through them. Late in the day, you enter a secluded grove lit by slanting sunlight.

    East

You head east. The forest soon gives way to a swamp, and your horses slow to pick their way through the treacherous ground. As the sun sets behind you, you see ahead a dilapidated mud-brick hut that squats atop a small hummock in the middle of the fetid marsh, a thin tendril of bluish smoke trickling through a gaping hole in its moss-covered roof. A lone crow caws noisily from the top of a nearby cypress tree. A wooden fence surrounding the perimeter of the mound is festooned with crude fetishes crafted out of sticks, feathers, and animal bones. Inside the fence appears to be solid ground, thick with bog grass and dotted with small cattail-clogged pools. Halfway from the fence to the door of the hut, a scarecrow leers at the surroundings but appears to have no effect on the crow.

The waist-high wooden fence is broken by single gate that hangs askew. A fist-sized rusted iron bell hangs from a hairy length of rope tied to a crooked post next to the gate.

Marc dismounts and with a half smile, rings the bell. "Hello in the house!"

Marc rings the bell. The chime echoes through the marsh and fades. The crow caws again. You did not notice it before, but the scarecrow in the yard seems to be staring directly at you.

Then a green face pokes itself out of the hut's only window. "WHAT?! WHO'RE YOU AND WHY'RE YOU BOTHERING ME?!" the face screeches at you, across the long distance of the yard.

"GOT MY OWN FOOD! DON'T WANT YOURS! WHADDAYA WANT TO TALK FOR?" Even at across the distance, her tone is decidedly unfriendly, and she issues no invitation to proceed inside.
