Adder walks in to start attacking the plant and as he moves, the flytrap's giant maw snaps open and closed, grabbing him as well! However he manages to score a solid hit alongside Bronin, who carves at it as best he can.

Wren magically hastens the party, and Whiskeyjack absolutely wallops Merrick with Raven's Head. The vampire hisses in shock and chants for a moment, brambles crawling up around her to encase her in a thorny armor.

Whiskeyjack and Adder land solid blows while Quinley races past her in an attempt to set up a flank.

"You had every opportunity to parlay Merrick! We're getting into the underground no matter what, I'm not going to let my mother's death go unanswered!"

Merrick snarls, and as Adder continues to beat on her, she focuses on him for a second.

Adder quickly shakes his head as the vampire's gaze bears down onto him, and he resists her control!

One second, BRonin has an arm engulfed by the flytrap. The thing trying to lift him and swallow him.
A ball of fire and brimstone decimate the plant, leaving it's flytrap mouth to open and liberate Bronin. Calmly, he walks around the now inanimate stalk and the torn and burnt landscape of the sunhouse.

He has both weapons drawn as he makes his way to the druidess that just wouldn't be nice when given an open opportunity.

Whiskeyjack stepped to the side, giving Adder the flank, then pounded the vampire with his undead bane hammer o' doom. Maybe he could come up with a better name than that, but it fit for the moment.

The group piles onto Merrick and just start laying waste to the vampire. Within seconds she is cut down, her body vanishing under the last weapon swing. White smoke pours through your legs and out of the greenhouse, leaving her possessions behind.

End of Combat

Quinley groans. "No better than a thrall. We may have an enemy for a long time because of that fireball but she'll recover in time. We gave her every chance to be peaceable."

He nudges her gear. "Take it if you want I suppose, she's already not going to be well-disposed. Once we get to the Underground and make our plea to Luvick he can order her to leave us be. He'll repect this show of power. Probably."

Loot:

Quinley cleans and sheathes his rapier, grimaing a bit. "Any one of you healers? We've got a sewer to get in to and I'd prefer not to get filth in my wounds."

Bronin hands Quinley a potion of Cure Moderate Wounds.
Here, take this at least. It won't help with all the wounds the plant gave you, but maybe Whiskey will heal you more. I certainly need some assistance with healing myself.

Seeing the loot, not much interests him. It's fairly low quality stuff, but the cloak could be really useful for where they are going.
do you guys mind if I take the cloak? I have this cloak that helps me while hunting (elven kind), I can share it with one of you- or just put it in my backpack as i don this cloak.
Unless another needs the cloak of resistance or wants to swap out with an Elvenkind, Bronin will claim it and don it.

Bronin looks around for more stuff, like the way to the vampire underground. There has to be a stairway or sewergrate.

Quinley blanches a bit. "Right, the rules are reversed. I require negative energy like the undead, I'll survive otherwise though."

He waves his hand at the smoke. "The smoke is Merrick. She's going to return to her coffin to recover I imagine. By the time she has any designs on bothering us we'll have spoken with her master who will keep her in check."

With that, Quinley makes his over to a massive storm drain. You hear the sound of rushing water below. It's a huge metal grate very sturdily attached to the cobbles.

"This is the way in... the vampires just turn into smoke to get past it." He looks to the rest of you. "Any idea on how to get past?"

He tries to pick up the storm drain or at least get it off it's frame so that he can drag it along the ground.

She waits for others to get through the grate, hoping that brute force will succeed before she must bring her magics to bear.

"The size of this grate reminds me of this time I watch this one halflingess...blahblahblah...compared to the size of the enlarged...blahblahblah...she seemed willing enough...blahblahblah...and with enough ooze exact, it was incredibly slick...blahblahblah...no one thought it would work, but they were trying 5gp per visitor...blahblahblah...heck of a profit...blahblahblah...needless to say the place sold...blahblahblah...horrendous ripping sound...blahblahblah...and she did manage to get the bag of chips open, sharing them with everybody," Wren comments from previous experience.

She turns and says, Whiskeyjack, can a chicken become a vampire?

"I no' be havin' anythin' fer yer kind, dhampir. All me magics are fer th' livin'. Mebbe we ken be finding a wand or sommat wit' negative energy bound t' i' along th' way, bu' I no' be hopeful."

Whiskeyjack watched Bronin struggle with the heavy grate with a smirk on his face. He was about to join in and help the human when the former nobleman gave a huge wrench and really muscled up the grate.

He was a little distracted by this and didn't really pay much attention to Lena's question until it had bounced around his think skull a few times.

"Wha'? A chicken vampire? I dinnae think so, lass. The vampire's curse be limited to warm-blooded mammals, and e'en then I ne'er heard o' anythin' bu' a humanoid bein' truly turned. Somethin' in th' magical nature o' the curse requires thinkin' bein's."

In another game, I put a dhampir in the negatives with my clericafter "helpfully" healing him with positive energy. "Helaing them to death" has stuck with me ever since.

Potpie clucks shifting his head about nervously. Elena pictures him with large fangs protruding from his beak with an insatiable thirst for their own blood. It would be quite ironic. Their dinner feasting on them. "Vampire chicken? That sounds horrifying." Though it reminded her of a story from her childhood. "We used to have this boy named Link that would run around town smashing clay pots. One day he accidentally hit a chicken with his wooden sword. Next thing we knew a whole roost of chickens came out of nowhere and pecked him so bad. Little thief probably deserved it." She continues to watch Bronin struggle with the grate. "There another way in?"

With some aid anothers its enough to get past the storm drain so I won't labour the point.

The group gather around and with Quinley and Whiskeyjack helping out you manage to rip the storm drain out right out of the cobbles of the garden. Quinley laughs.

"Kill her favorite plants, send her to the coffin, and now we've torn up her nice street. Serves her right for refusing to parlay. I'm not sure vampirism would work on a chicken, and no right-minded vampire would grant one the gift. I'm fairly certain they'll only turn someone who looks good in a black cape. There's a sense of decorum."

The storm drain yawns below you and you hear the roaring water of the city's sewers. Thankfully the constant rain means the sewers are more water than anything else right now. Quinley waves his hands to the rest of you.

"After you?"

Whiskeyjack hefted hammer and shield, then jumped down into the tunnels, his natural darkvision kicking in as he looked about, ready for trouble. His feet slipped as he landed, and it was all he could do to remain upright.

"Ware th' floor! I' be as slippery as a goblin's snot socket down 'ere!"

He has the botle by the neck, and downs the contents. He was expecting WhiskeyJack to maybe heal him, but accepts the situation.

The Dhampire must have sapped some of it's positive energy. Bronin takes another.

Bronin drops down, with a splash , and bended knees. Like a predator that pounced, but missed the quarry. He's amped and ready to slice up some undead.

Elena cringes, not only at the smell but at climbing through the sewage drain. "Vampires don't mind living in this gunk with kobolds and goblins?" She begins climbing down, squealing and shaking goop from her hands as she descends somewhere in the middle of the group.

A white symbol flares up as Whiskeyjack's feet hit the ground and a blast of powerful brain-scrambling energy flares out! The spell seems to fade out after hitting two of you, but it's enough to completely stun Lena and Elena! You take a second to get your bearings. You are in a 15' diameter chamber below the storm drain with an exit to the main sewer to your south.

Perception DC 20:

You hear snarling echoing down the sewers.

Lena and Elena are both stunned for a few rounds. I'll letcha know how it goes.

"Please, we have such beautiful things to show you..."

"It's so strange for you to be down here, let us make you more comfortable..."

White smoke pours out overtop of them as they emerge.

Whiskeyjack knows vampire spawn when he sees it. Weaker, less vampires who will never rise above the thralls of the true vampires. However, tehy are quite dangerous and known for their ability to dominate minds. They have the standard resistances and weaknesses of vampires, being best struck by silver weapons and with some resistance to cold and electricity. They also can assume a gaseous form.
