I was accepted into another game and as a result i'd like to drop Brennor out the running. Happy Gaming!

Alexi:

This shouldn't be spoiling too much, but according to the article on Brevoy in the first book, the Medvyeds are the least political of the houses. Yeah, they probably have a handful of political dynamos representing them, but their real focus is trying to carve a living out of the hand that they've been dealt. They're shepherds and hunters. It says they follow the "old ways" of nature, so they're basically a bunch of Erastil folk that got upjumped just because no one else was willing to stay in that region. That is how I read it, however. Ask the GM to clarify his interpretation.

So perhaps researching the court is the wrong way to approach this problem. How would hunters, woodsman, or the average Erastilean approach another who knew arcane magics? I... humm... it is an interesting quandary, given the new perspective. Again, if we get picked, it is worth asking the GM about.

I have put together my Human Druid for Kingmaker. It is mostly completed, just a few odds and ends (like equipment). I have the ideas for my character's back-story and such in my head, I just need to sit down and write it all out and finalize certain details. Still debating on some items and I'm not sure I really like the Two-World Magic trait I took. I may just switch it to devotee of the green. But I wanted to get this submitted here before the deadline. I didn't have as much time to work on it this weekend as I had hoped. Please accept as submission for Kingmaker.

Hey just thought Id submit my char before deadline already made and ready to go just hope I can find this char a game cause I really want to see him live and grow :) thanks for your consideration

Traits are
Sword Scion
Natural born Leader

Submitting Lythal Nemur for consideration. Need to update the link for his character sheet but you can otherwise get a feel for his character from the profile.

Silver Crusade

Thinking about submitting a Half-Orc Rogue, of the Thug archetype with the Chain Fighter and Bestial alternate racial traits.

Asok Demon-Tongue, a thug, using his force of personality to talk his way out of a sentence of hard labour for acts of banditry has instead been exiled from Brevoy and forced to travel into the wilderness where his talents might someday benefit the kingdom or result in his demise at the hands of wild beasts or criminals. He will not focus on stealth and traps, but instead on charisma and skills like Intimidate and Diplomacy.

Grand Lodge

I would like to submit Dyne Treal. See his background for details.

Originally, I wanted 4 (maybe 5) PCs for this. Now, I'm solidly going with 5. There are too many good ideas! :)

If you're thinking of running the game with more than 4 players and a higher point buy than the 15 expected in the APs maybe this thread will be helpful for you

Inquisitor Leet:
Have fun with your new game! :)

Sardaukar, Raventhorn, Paizo Fan, Capricornus, and Dyne Treal:
Thank you for your entries! I will add you to my (now extensive) consideration pile!

Keddah:
Yeah, you do bring up a good point. In my current tabletop game, we have a 5-person party (with 20 point-buy), and I've modified very little, as far as set encounters go. I've added more random encounters and treasure occasionally to keep them somewhat less experience/treasure-starved, and it's worked out pretty well for me. Thanks for the link!

Sorry for the delay; yesterday pretty much consisted of my nephew's birthday party and running a tabletop Kingmaker session. Fear not! I haven't flaked! :)

About 46 hours until the deadline! Please, if you've submitted a character, try to get some basic crunch and backstory into your character profiles (if you haven't gotten around to it, yet). That would be very helpful!

My Compiled Consideration List

Keddah: Ser Huxley Salduie, human cavalier
Sunderstone: Ormil the Owl, gnome druid
John Woodford: Retsiji, human diviner

Is that everyone? Have I forgotten/misrepresented anybody?

EDIT: Added Asok's name to Capricornus's submission.

This is Capricornus, presenting Asok Demon Tongue for consideration. Info is in profile. Gear still in progress.

And holy cow that's a lot of applicants!

And this was the second Kingmaker game starting up. Obviously there is a demand out there for a third.

Hu5tru's submission, with all information collated for your convenience. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Not counting Pazio Fan twice(since he appears on the list twice), that's a total of 29 potential applicants, making it the biggest list I have seen in a pbp recruitment ever!

Really?! I wasn't sure how many applicants are average . . . wow. I've got my work cut out for me, as far as selecting the party goes. ;)

Both Paizofan and Lazarx appear twice in the list. And PirateDevon showed interest but hasn't submitted a character yet. That'd make 27 applicants with 29 characters... and I thought I had a hard time selecting the party for mine. I don't envy you DM Rhys Grey!

Then get on the KM train I for one have several concepts I didn't submit here to avoid flooding the thread! ;)

For myself, I find GMing KM via PbP to be a unique challenge. It is more sandbox than most, so you really need your players to understand that they must drive what is going on in their world. I've only just started out, and I had to put a message in my OOC asking my players to take the time to discuss things more as I'm getting the feeling that I'm pushing them too much.

There's pacing, and there's setting the players on rails. I hate even having to ask what it is that they want to do, but... I dunno, hopefully my new player will get my current group to open up more. Not a leader among them, sadly.

To confirm my Chaotic Evil alignment...

DM Rhys Grey:
A slight variation on Alexi, if you are interested, from another party bid: replacing Druid with a Cleric of Abadar. For traits replace Medvyed with Garess or Lebeda. Mechanically similar at first, but definite differences in personality. (Wilderness vs. First Vault) Hmm the cleric variant might be a better fit in some ways, obvious reason to tame the wilderness and more house connections for the eventual assault on the Dragonscale throne! but I really do want to see the Druid Theuge has his day. If you don't mind, see Hu5tru tab for a few questions I have.

I also present Chee and Rusalka Chee is a strait goblin rogue with plenty of stealth and darkvision, which could definitely be of use to the party. Rusalka is a variant tiefling ninja with a swim speed, very cool for the rivers and swamps, though I think I'll convert her into a natural attack ranger, unless you decide on her as ninja, because that just seems to fit the backstory better. I see her turning out somewhat like a Pirates IV mermaid, but cooler. Anyway. Just thought I'd throw them into the mix. Perhaps you should do a second campaign! ^_^ Seriously though, thanks for setting this up, and may the campaign have the best party ever.

Hu5tru:
I hadn't really thought about the people of the Medvyeds being arcanaphobes, just it being a frowned on pursuit for a nobles, similar to how nobles would never deign to become moneylenders, but have no objection to their existence. In this case, Alexei would just being another person doing a necessary job that is beneath nobility. However, if the people as a whole are suspicious of arcane magic, the way background information suggests for the Land of Linnorn Kings, then perhaps the wizard tutors were originally from Orlovsky. They have a reputation for neutrality, seem the most affiliated with arcane magic, and share an extensive border with the Medvyeds. If so, perhaps the trait house should be changed, as that would have been the house he would have been raised around. Sticking with serious Medvyed affiliation might mean that Alexei's childhood shared some unpleasant similarities to Tityanna's. The spawn of witches probably don't have a much better social life than changling babes from the woods. What say you?

Probably similar to Serpent's Skull. I feel like I'm pulling teeth to figure out what the PCs want to do. So as a player, I find myself trying to post extra to try and help the GM out if there isn't a clear direction.

Grand Lodge

Thank you. I hope Dyne makes it. I'm really looking forward to my first PbP game.

PirateDevon says: In some ways I shouldn't post this guy, but I have to because the backstory just sort of came to me and I like me some Inquisitors. Ton of people applying including a GM of mine, a player of mine and maybe a co-party member of mine I think. I am running a modified KM IRL so I haven't gotten to play. I am sure I can keep my knowledge of the AP out of the game.

Harsk, Inquisitor (Preacher) of Torag.

GM Rhys:
My intention here is "spread the glory of god"...in this case god being a kick ass dwarf who wants to keep people safe and create civilization. Inquisitors can be a fuzzy concept so I took preacher to help emphasize that he wants to bring what Torag has to offer to the Stolen Lands (and eventually the kingdom). I don't intend Harsk to go hunting infidels or anything of that nature, though he certainly will take care of any such business if it comes his way. I guess what I wanted to get at is he can play nice and won't be crazy about "Torag or death" or anything like that as some seem to feel Inquisitors should play like.

Some hyperbole to make my point, was all. Applying a light comedic tone to.the comment also would be appropriate. that said? Some people take the idea of "enemy of the faith" to interesting places.

PirateDevon:
Torag is a lawful good deity; Harsk is chaotic good. Inquisitors' alignments must be within one step of their deity. You'll either have to change your god or change your alignment!

Rhys:
Heh. I used an old character's template to write over. Ionacu was chaotic. Harsk, laid back but lawful. ;) Thanks. Can't change deities anyway, he's already branded and everything...

PirateDevon:
Ah, that makes sense. I do the same thing, using a template of a previous character to build a new one. That's when I get interesting things like: why does my ranger have a viper familiar?!? Heh.

I am more interested in placing Lythal than Gambin at the moment as he's a character that I had in mind for Kingmaker and have tried to place a few times now without success. He is a Magus (no archetype) whose spell selection will be focused around debilitation, leaving his martial skills in order to deal damage.

GM Rhys Grey:
Since this will be my first PbP, it will kind of be a new experience for me. But since you can probably get an idea of how I play mechanically from my character sheet, I figured I would dig up some old posts from a text RP I was involved in some time ago. Figured it would be nice to have a general idea of how I'll be RPing in PbP. Hope this helps.

"Entrance" Post: The sounds of the forest beyond. Even though he had never been to this mysterious place, they still seemed familiar to him. The echoing sounds of the wide variety of creatures played in his ears like a subtle orchestra. Anything could exist within and while he was not necessarily the most excited of their group to look forward to the adventure ahead, he was certainly content with the idea of experiencing a new place and discovering what lies within.

This mountain of a man sat beneath one of the large trees of the forest, which he appeared to have slept under the previous night. Or at least, he had been sitting there, both still and silent with his eyes closed ever since they set up camp the previous evening. His position was sturdy; his arms folded across his chest and his legs both pulled in, one folded over the other which bent in close. All of his limbs were tight to his body, but his back and neck were both very straight, as if they were aligned with the tree perfectly. However, his head did not touch the tree and he was just barely leaning against it. But even as others began to stir about, he sat there, still and calm with his swords lying across his lap; the hilts by his right hip.

The only moment or sound coming from this man, the one known as Kaito Yorrowick, would be of his breathing. Every breath was perfect; the exact same length of both inhale and exhale, remaining between each repetition. He breathed deeply into his stomach in and out through his nose. However, the breaths remain silent and very steady. This was where his focus lied at the moment, even as his mind wandered, though still alert to his surroundings.

Responding Post: Kaito had been sitting, not too far away from his other group members, in silence. When his superior officers began speaking of him, he said nothing right away and decided to continue listening to see just what they might do. And as they discussed the issue of him apparently having run off somewhere deep into the forest, he began to smile, holding back his laughter and remaining completely still otherwise. Then, when they were just about packed and ready to go, Kaito himself would stand up, grabbing his right knee in his right hand to push down on it as he quickly stood, taking his haversack with his left hand. Strapping on the efficient bag over both shoulders, he would then take a couple steps from around the tree underneath which he had been sitting.

Now standing within twenty feet and in clear visibility of his commanding officers, he looked to them and rose an eyebrow with a slight smirk. "Ha, go figure. A man can't have a seat for a few moments of solitude without being suspected of insubordination?" His face would then straighten out as he approached the two of them, hands down loosely at his sides before he stopped about six feet away, stepping his feet together and straightening his stance out to one of attention for only a moment before spreading his feet to denote his rest. "By the way, search over. Your soldier was less than thirty feet away from you, sirs." He then looked between the two of them, wondering what they had to say.

Dyne Treal:
Thank you for the excerpt. After I select the players for this, I plan on discussing my posting preferences, as far as layout, BBCode-use, and tense go (in an OOC thread). I doubt I'll be insufferably nitpicky, but I'll still explain how I'd like posting to "look" (in the IC thread, that is).

Paizo Fan:
Noted! I'll disregard Gambin as a potential PC from here on out.

Huh! I just now noticed the new "Online Campaigns" section of the "Paizo Community" boards. Looks cool; hopefully, I can figure out how to make use of it! :)

All right, this is the night before all submissions are due (tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m., CST, in case anybody forgot). I look forward to sfinishing the selection process and running this PbP! :)

The wait is killing me! says Ser Huxley tapping his feet frantically.

I know what you mean; perhaps my deadline could've been a mite shorter. However, there is light at the end of the 10-foot-wide hallway. The deadline's in about 3.5 hours. Then comes my selection process, of course . . .

Spoiler:
I have been going over the entries, balancing party-role with concept, etc. This is not to say that any submissions entered between now and deadline won't be considered; I've just had the luxury of going over the submissions at a more leisurely pace, as there weren't many yesterday. Thanks again, Keddah, for all the links. That was very useful! :)

Now for my morning coffee . . .

Wait just a minute, I wouldn't have entered a dark hallway without first casting Light on the figher's armor. Are we totally blind in this hallway?

Yes, thanks to the Deeper Darkness spell which smothers your Light. mwa hahahaha!

As you walk through the hallway, the party fighter--Sir Marty McStabs-A-Lot--glows like a beacon about 20 feet ahead. With his trusty 10-foot-pole, he jabs and scrapes every square inch of the dungeon's mold-covered passage.

Sir Marty looks back at the rest of you, a big smile on his Wisdom-dumped face. "Hey, guys . . . I think I found a-"

Darkness engulfs him, and his words are cut off. There is the brief sound of an unheroic shriek, and then it goes silent.

Roll Perception.

Oh dear. Let's hope my terrible luck, a condition I have termed "cleric dice" does not affect this critical roll.

Hu5tru wrote:

All it takes is a low constitution and a good roll for the cat. I've seen mighty wizards (well maybe not so mighty) run like the blazes from the dreaded house cat. And a brave (and severely drunk) dwarven fighter get eaten by common rats...

Egads! Have you spoken to the priests at your local temple? Surely these horrors have affected you in some way.

Watched a paladin cohort nearly get eaten alive by a gargantuan rat swarm in game once. Party was level 13, Paladin was level 11. That was... special. Two-hander paladins are way too weak unless they're up against evil things. And I as a gracious leader spent more than 50% of my shifty loots keeping him in the best armors, with the best rings and belts while my cleric hid behind a shield with Magic Vestment cast on it and 2 more AC.

"Oh, well then, I guess the farm boy should go then. I've seen what cats can do. Bye!" As much as he wants to leave, Ray is held in place by Lobo, who is holding on to Ray's shirt with his jaws.

The party paladin (warrior of holy light) suddenly bursts into song and all within 10' are no longer affected by Fear.
