Kaya moves up and glances around the corner, seeing the dragon which looks almost exactly like the ones she read about in school. "OH S+!+! That's a GIANT WHITE DRAGON! Um... it looks like it's very young though and with the fey's help... maybe we have a chance? Either way we gotta try to do this for the sake of the WORLD!!! Watch out for it's cold breath weapon and I think it's probably immune to Paralysis and Sleep, most dragons are. Oh yeah, definitely immune to cold too... but it might be vulnerable to fire so Alaric, that's not a bad idea to try your flaming balls."
She activates the fey blessing to grant a little extra protection from the breath weapon and then snaps a shot at the dragon across the cavern.
Gwen and Hera each choose DR 1

"Great. Kobold bards. And I thought plain vanilla ice dragons were bad enough--this one's got back up singers."
"Sergeant-Major!"
"Yo!" says the Sergeant-Major snapping a sharp salute. And an army of gnomes erupt from the cave entrance behind Shredder.
"Alright! We've got cover now get out there and split up!"
GM RePete |
Kaya hustles into the room and quickly recalls some of her studies regarding dragons. Taking a quick shot, her bolt flies over the foe.
Alaric conjures up his flaming balls as he sends Shredder after the nearby Kobolds. As the glowing embers begin to take shape, the dragon's nimble wings pull it away from harm. The kobold however is much slower, catching a talon to the face.
Quickly flying across the room, the dragon expells a cone of ice, engulfing most of the party.
The kobold pair quickly retaliate against Shredder. However, their rage clouds their judgment and they both swing wide.
Suddenly the gnome army reappears, ready to fight at your side. The pink scaled Kobold seems to take an interest.

Reminder, you have an aid token to use or boost. Slides tell what it can do
Kaya Leafwing |
I don't believe Kaya was hit by that.
Caught unready for the speed of the dragon, Kaya is frozen in place as the cold breath washes towards her. The yells of pain echo through the cavern and she hopes the fey or her pathfinder allies will be able to help heal those hurt.
I vote for using the token for a burst of healing.
Hearing the good advice and not even able to see the Kobolds around the corner, Kaya darts forwards through the gnome army and away from the rest of the group.
Double Move.
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus} |

Wraith darts around the corner, weaving between the gnome militants. Once she finds her target, she slices a deep gash from his right shoulder to his left hip.
Seeing the ice engulf his companions, Capone calls on the fey's protection before moving forward. Spotting the foes, he emits a high pitched shriek, causing one of the kobolds to stop suddenly and clamp his hands over his ears.
With ease, Tere ducks the ice shards as Capone marches forward. Accepting the hardened skin offered by the fey, Tere lashes out, missing his target.
Tere, were you striking at the dragon or the kobold? And did you count Bless in your attack?
Kaya quickly makes her way away from her companions, hoping to avoid the clustered burst of ice.
Following Tere's lead, Shredder ducks under the frozen blast, before turning back to the kobolds. Slashing once...twice, the kobold begins to fall as the dino tries to take a bite.
Pink Down
Seeing the tasty morsel readily available, the winged beast lashes out against Terre in a see of teeth, talons, and wings. Though it surprises the man, getting a mouth full of flesh, his practiced skills prove superior. Terre twists and turns, avoiding the remaining attempts to turn him into a meal.

Kaya Leafwing |
Kaya moves up and starts mumbling, "now I know that I had a fire spell somewhere. I remember writing it down in my book, but it's been a while. Now how did that incantation go? Incarnum... no. Incantum... no. Burny Death... no. Oooh it's Апёк гэта Мёртвы" Her ring flares briefly and what sounds like gibberish spews from her mouth. Her hand snaps up towards the dragon and a gout of flame jumps towards the flying creature.

Alaric Ysande |
Alaric ponders the situation, and decides to risk changing form to a more battle-savvy one. He calls upon his bestial nature, and lets it take over. The polymorphic magics twist his frame into one that matches his companion.
He then rushes forward, to get into melee range with the dragon, something that he wonders might not be the best idea in the back of his mind.

Attacking the dragon, and I didn't include bless The difference between a 12 and a 13, when attacking a dragon, didn't seem significant.
Round 2:
The flash of pain from the beast's gelid jaws provides somewhat greater motivation to focus on the attack, and Tere gives it his somewhat better shot with a rapid slash, trying to hold out until his allies can come to his aid.
Slice the serpent, incl. bless: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20

GM RePete |
Turning towards the blue scaled Kobold, Wraith jabs her blade towards the creature, but fails to strike flesh.
Attempting to reason with the dragon's minion, Capone issues and order for it to stop. The creature simple shakes it's head, laughing maniacally.
With renewed vigor, Tere slices a thin swath of scales from the dragons breast. Triumphantly, he feels hope fill him from within.
Gwendolyn's gnomish army continues to march to and fro, looking as threatening as they can... Delay
Considering her available spells, Kaya's eyes light up. There was something...burny...something with crackling orange flames....working hard, she struggles to find the words.... Eureka! As the incantation comes to her in a moment of need, bright flames erupt from her finger tips and shoot forward, engulfing the dragon.
It's seared flesh blisters and blackens as it howls in pain.
Alarics joints twist and reshape as his flesh hardens. Claws shoot out of his fingers and ankles, his nose rockets forward into a large maw filled with pointed teeth... All the while, his mini-me tears into the remaining Kobold.
Blue Still Up
Snarling, the beast bites at Tere again. Ready for it this time, Tere easily side steps the teeth. Clumsily turning about, it flies back over the pit.

Alaric delays until he knows what happened to the kobold, and if he can reach the dragon
Can Alaric run around to the stones to the east of him, using them to jump off of (gaining +5' from them), to be able to jump across to the dragon, who is 25' off the bottom level (as I understand it based on your on map description). This should put him at the level of the dragon, or 5' under it, if I am not mistaken.
Tere di Montefeltro |
AoO on dragon, including bless: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12
Tere is unable to take advantage of the dragon's distraction.
GM RePete |
If no one else attacks the Kobold, it will still be up. I'm fine with you waiting to see if anyone attacks it 'before shredder did'.
As for your question, yes that would be possible. Acrobatics check would be needed for the long jump. You do get the +4 bonus for each 10 ft of movement over 30 on your base speed with your new form.
Do you intend to do something to avoid the falling damage?
Alaric Ysande |
Thanks.
avoid... falling... damage. Yeah, that'd be a neat trick. Wonder what I can pull off!"

GM RePete |
As the foe twirls to leave, Alaric slashes at it's wings. Catching the creature solidly, his claws pull it away from his fellow's blow.
Wraith steps around the kobold and slices a gash from it's tail to the top of it's head.
Blending in momentarily with his breatheren, Capone finds his way out the other side of the militants and fires a flaming bolt at the seared dragon. Sizzling as it connects, the beast yelps in displeasure.
With but a word and a flick of the wrist, Gwendolyn calls forth a blanket to hamper the enemy. The cloth lands on it's intended target, draping over the beasts eyes as Herra darts forward.
The winged beast claws frantically at the substance blinding him, unable to see the tiny owl...until... *ZZZzzzT* Blue lines of power shoot from her beak as the static is released. The outline of a draconic skeleton shows through the fabric for but a moment, before it plummets to the ground.
Shocked at the sight, Kaya twitches launching her bolt straight up as Shredder devours the kobold's remains before it can reach the cavern floor.
Dragon Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
COMBAT OVER!
Status:
Tere: -6
Gwendolyn: -6
Alaric: -3
I was so looking forward to your attempt Alaric. Perhaps next time.
SUCCESS REPORTED
Alaric Ysande |
With a net +2 acrobatics, it would have been interesting. What I didn't tell you was my whole plan. Jump to the dragon, and if he used his AOO on movement... I was going to grapple!!!! I am sure it would not have ended well, but would have been GLORIOUS
Dino-alaric looks between the rock near him, and the dragon, and contemplates his action. However, it was not to be, as his teammates finished of the ice wyrm. For good measure, however, he mentally guides his little ball of fire to make sure the dragon is dead.

*****OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT*****
With the dragons defeated and their kobolds fleeing, the Pathfinders assemble in the deep cave. With her phantom Anok in tow, Medda approaches the frozen column and brushes away the outer layer of frost. Frozen within the column is a dwarven woman in steel armor, her body torn as if by immense claws. With her hand pressed against the ice, Medda pleads. “Ivvora, I have found you. Now what? Vildeis said to find you and that you would help me, but how can we help you in this state?”
“You look to me when you should look to the evil that stalks our homeland. It is not I who needs help,” declares a voice that is both sweet as music and powerful as a thunderstorm. The frost melts away from the column, revealing dozens of clear facets that dribble melt water as if from open wounds. The image of a wounded angelic figure reflects in each facet, simultaneously warming the chamber and judging all that the angel sees. “As you can see, I serve Vildeis more directly than before.” The images look to Anok. “I see you took your oath seriously, Anok. I was wrong to have doubted your conviction. How are our people?”
The red phantom’s hue turns rosier as he looks to Medda and responds, “You would be proud.”
With a nod, the angel addresses everyone at once. “Then why do you seek me?”
“Eshimka has returned,” Medda announces. “We fought off the horror once, but it shall return at the next solstice.”
The angel’s eyes flare with righteous fire. “Then you will need a weapon to defeat it, as I had. Vildeis granted me the blade that I gave your people, but only after I thought I had given everything to vanquish my greatest foe. Even now I can sense evil has returned to that land, far to the south in a forest where the Whispering Tyrant’s legions once ruled. Show our patron Vildeis the same dedication that I did, and I shall ask that she equip you in the same way.” With that, the angelic images fade from the melting column.
Medda addresses the gathered Pathfinders. “I believe I know the forests Ivvora mentioned. You have already done so much, Pathfinders, but I invite you to help more. After I give Ivvora the burial she deserves, I will set forth with all who are able and willing for the Fangwood.”
This is the end of Part B of The Solstice Scar. Stay tuned for Part C, coming soon to a table near you! Thank you everyone for playing, and especially to table GMs (and our intrepid backup GMs!) for all your hard work.
