Welcome pathfinders! We will be delving into the Solstice Scar. Projected start date is May 07th.
In the meantime, feel free to secret squirrel your way into the gameplay tab, roll any dayjob checks you may have, and get to know each other. There is no need to put your PFS#, Faction, Prestige, XP, etc. in this page. Instead, I insist you fill out (Link) this Handy Dandy Questionnaire.
I also need you to go to the maps/handouts link at the top of the page and fill in your preferred marching order location, perception, and initiative modifiers. I do like headers. They don't have to be extravagant, but they must have your key statistics. (HP, AC, Saves, Perception, Sense Motive....) I do have a linked template in my profile if you need assistance setting one up.
If there is anything 'strange' about your character, please let me know ahead of time. Any questions you encounter, don't hesitate to ask.

She still needs to finish the last fight off and level up so I can't do the Questionnaire, but her Day Job and special stuff won't change so I can go ahead with that.
Day Job: Craft Jewelry + MW Tools: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
Special Abilities: Forewarned (see below) and she has the bonded object (a ring, also see below) instead of a familiar. That isn't odd per se, but she burns 1 spell every 3rd day to make said ring appear non-magical (if that is ever an issue).
A bonded object can be used once per day to cast any one spell that the wizard has in his spellbook and is capable of casting, even if the spell is not prepared. This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the wizard, including casting time, duration, and other effects dependent on the wizard's level. This spell cannot be modified by metamagic feats or other abilities. The bonded object cannot be used to cast spells from the wizard's opposition schools (see arcane school).

I have to say, I like the form. I may be stealing that!
Alaric is a pretty straightforward druid... primarily a melee combatant, he's got a deinonychus named Shredder ('cause that's his favorite activity) as an animal companion.
He just got wild shape, so he'll be using it. I will create an avatar that will represent his wild-shaped abilities, if I use them. He'll likely be turning into a deinonychus as well.
To let you all know, I have GMed 8-99b twice, played 8-99a twice, and GMed 8-99a 3x.
I will be going to Paizo Con, and will either be running or playing 8-99c there.

![]() |

Though she is skinned/flavored as a 'ninja', it is really just a fun sub-optimal build. Just hit third so officially a fighter, rogue, monk.
Day Job (Perform-Dance): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

GM RePete |

Kaya: Sounds good.
Alaric: So, you're saying you have no experience with Solstice Scar? Well...quick overview...you drink a potion, turn into a kobold...wait a second...
I'll try not to disappoint. Officially speaking when I run this, it'll be my second time. My first time will be F2F this Saturday.
As for my form, feel free! I stole the idea from someone else.
Wraith: I'm intrigued. I like the flavor of it. Do you plan the tattoos ahead of time or figure them out based off the scenario?

![]() |

Tere is basically a mobile fighter, going for flanks to do more damage and working towards shadowdancer.

If there is anything 'strange' about your character, please let me know ahead of time. Any questions you encounter, don't hesitate to ask.
Gwen's eyes track suspiciously upward to her nom de plume and then back toward her GM.
All of Gwen's magic derives from her ability to see and manipulate the legendary eighth and mostly invisible (to non-arcane practitioners anyway) color of the rainbow--octarine--the so-called colour of magic, which hovers on the spectrum somewhere between violet and Beaconsfield, England.
profession (librarian): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

![]() |

Ah, a devotee of the master, Sir Terry Pratchett!
Excellent!
Gotta love Octarine.

![]() |

Hey, GM Andrew here.
Going to bring my Cleric here instead of my Fighter. He plays much like a control caster, with some more buffs thrown in. Lots of bless.
Needs to give him a few updates. Hopefully getting it done in about half a day, but if not it'll be done Soon™.
I am organizing PFS/SFS at a convention at the same dates as PaizoCon. During that time, I will be more scarcely available. Also, I may end up playing or GMing this during that time since we are running it there. ;)

![]() |

Never going to complain about having a cleric in the group!
Shredder and Alaric can handle the frontline, both are decent melee combatants with the potential for a lot of attacks (wild shaped Alaric will get 5, and shredder gets 3)
I still need to tweak my spell selection a little... probably going to try to get 2 barkskin, on for each of us.

![]() |

As far as group roles, Kaya will not be a frontliner. She is building towards quite a bit of spell versatility so she might be able to pull some rabbits out of her scarf, but at this moment casting is a bit limited. She generally just shoots crossbow bolts at enemies.
However, she has a good Diplomacy bonus if she needs to be the one talking to people and her knowledge skills have grown considerably since she started.

![]() |

Day Job: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
All set!

![]() |

I still need to update gold and purchases after the last adventure, and will fill out the form once I finish.

![]() |

What is this “diplomacy” of which you speak?
Talking is not Alaric’s strong point.

![]() |

Gwendolyn, I like your character concept. I also like the idea of giving a nice character description on your profile, both visual and personality. I enjoyed reading it and may be motivated to do that as well.

![]() |

Apologies to the GM who might be used to a different avatar image for Kaya... I finally realized I didn't have to restrict her to only Halflings (dur...) when searching for a good avatar. I was always annoyed she had such a dour face, this one is much better.

Wait a second here...eighth?! Where'd did the other 4 prior to that one come from?
Colorblind GM. :-P@GM Andrew, I'm fine with swapping to the cleric.
Ref the questionaire and purchasing and such...no worries. We still have over a week. Just try to be ready by May 7th.
@Kaya...I admit, it through me. However, I approve. I agree that icon works better for her.

GM RePete |

Excellent! Everyone has filled out the form and checked in with a week to spare!
Remember to fill out the first slide of the Maps link above. It's for Initiatives, Perceptions, and standard marching order. Unless you have a specific reason not to, I do have animal companions operate on their owners turn. Their perceptions are rolled separate though, so feel free to add the familiar and the animal's perceptions to the list.

GM RePete, I may still tweak my spells a little, if that is ok, based on the party make up. Alaric is not a strong caster, so would probably be better suited as a buff caster for himself and Shredder.
On that, we are fine taking point, as both Shredder and Alaric are melee combatants. I would ask that someone use alaric’s mage armor wand on both of them (in case Alaric chooses to wild shape, as his armor class would drop a LOT when he does).
Also, if someone was willing, I would have that person use my wand of magic fang on Shredder. I would understand if no one wanted to take the action for that... and would likely just use it before we open doors etc.
”Tere? That you? We will try and work a little better as teammates this adventure, I will try and flank with you more often.”

GM RePete |

As for spell choices and whatnot, I have no issue with you discussing and adjusting them. Nothing is set in stone until we actually start.
Any purchases you need marked on the chronicles are fine as well, just let me know if I need to note any of it for your sheet.

![]() |

Just trying to not use player knowledge, but there are so few effective Druid spells in core!

GM RePete |

Here's I personally handle that situation with my spellcasters, as I occasionally GM a scenario before I get the chance to play it. I have a standard set of spells I prep.
I change out those spells if something in the party makeup causes it to make sense or something in the briefing/story learned in character causes it to make sense.
Now, if it's a spell I acquired a scroll or wand for (AkA I typically get a wand of shield early on my arcane casters), then I swap out my standard prep to something else. If it feel it would make sense for your character to do so, go ahead. If you believe your character would not prep that for a PFS celebratory gathering, then you shouldn't.
I would 100% see it for the events following the start as you would know you're going into the wilderness and such things would be reasonable to assume. Ultimately, it's your call as it's your character. You're going to be the best one to determine if it makes sense for him or not.

![]() |

I think Alaric and Shredder should be closer to the front, since they're melee folks. Failing that, Wraith and I should be ready to move aside for them.
Tere will be buying a cloak of resistance +1 and an amulet of natural armor +1 before leaving. The current gold I gave on the form took these purchases into account already.

![]() |

I just wanted to make certain someone who can disable traps was close to the front. However, I don't have trap-spotter yet. I'm good being further back if that is what the party needs.

![]() |

Though he cannot see magical traps, Alaric has a decent perception.
Maybe we go Alaric + Shredder, then Tere and Wraith?
If we spot, the disablers can come forward.

![]() |

Tere and Wraith are both maneuverability combatants, so the more we can flank, with each other, with Alaric, or with Shredder, the more damage we can do.

![]() |

that makes sense. Alaric and Shredder can move in and give them those, as best we can. Worst case, Alaric could always cast a summon nature's ally to get another flanker out.

GM RePete |

You saw shredder do what seemed like full damage, then it healed up some.
Tried to verbalize the fast healing as them recovering some of their number from him eating them.
But yes, they healed some.

![]() |

Cool. I totally missed that.
My bad.

GM RePete |

As for the UMD, Spellcraft, Disable Device checks, it is a number of success to beat this creature.
Alternatively, you all could beat-stick it down.
Something to begin considering is where you wish to go after this combat.
Edit: I took the wording with Hera as a readied action. If that was a mistake, let me know.

***Token #1***
Passing Aid Token to: RePete
Current Boosts:
Provide Knowledge: Spellcraft 18 Mun of Ashava
Provide Knowledge: Arcana (Average) Kioshi Katsu

![]() |

I would suggest we use the 'heal everyone' part of the aid token and send it on to another table. When we did this at an actual convention, tokens were flying around faster than we could use them up but that was a really good thing.

![]() |

Edit: I took the wording with Hera as a readied action. If that was a mistake, let me know.
It's fine. I was kinda hoping Shredder would have used his move action to step back a few feet, but dinosaurs probably don't know much about carpet bombing. Hera was upset though. She's all into that Flight of the Valkyries stuff.

![]() |

Yeah, don't expect Shredder to back down... it is all good... are we going to use the healing?

GM RePete |

Healing it is....and passing

![]() |

FYI, will be starting to read this module as I am running it at a con in a little over a week, so will be passing into "Have GMed this" territory. Not out-of-the-ordinary for me but thought I'd mention it at least.

![]() |

How close are Parts A & B of this supposed to be? It looks as though--rather than Part B coming after Part A chronologically--they start at the same time, which makes it kind of odd to be playing the same character in both parts.

![]() |

Yeah, they start at the same point.
In reality, it is all six parts that make up the whole story.

GM RePete |

Alaric has it right.
Each version drops a part from the previous version and adds a part or two of its own. The benefit of playing it multiple times with the same character is on the chronicle sheet. Some of the boons get better/cheaper with each added version on the same character.

GM RePete |

Gwendolyn, due to initiative order, your cage would drop after they went. Depending on what happens on NPC turns, the may need a save next round.
Should get a chance to post in a couple hours. Family stuff at the moment

![]() |

Gonna be a busy, busy week for me. Going to another state for work to teach some co-workers how to use our tools, so I will be pretty busy for Monday and Tuesday (May 21 - May 22) (all Eastern US time). Then, will be the head organizer of PFS/SFS at a con Thursday through Sunday (MomoCon, May 24 - May 27).
Will check in when I can, but otherwise I put botting instructions in my character profile.

![]() |

Yeah, just to let you all know I will be at Paizo Con. Leaving Wednesday, but will try and post as I can.

![]() |

Convention starts today for me.

![]() |

I'm on vacation the next ten days or so, and will be slow to post. I know we're on the clock, though, so I'll make this game the priority.
