I've had a few good fruitcakes, and I understand that most fruitcakes are meant to be revitalized by soaking them in brandy or rum. If anything, that makes them sound more like alchemical zombies.
Sounds kind of like me on New Years day.

Just as an FYI for everyone, so maybe you can do the same. I have a running total of "current" values on my profile so Nani can figure out my current AC, saves, CMD, HP, spells used, current buffs, current duration on buffs, etc. This way when resolving rounds she won't have to ask for what my AC is.
This way she could write something a bit more evocative. Instead of "I hit AC 25, and would do 10 damage if I hit," it could be something more like "Swift Wind barely is able to deflect the blow with his shield, but staggers slightly backwards from the force of the blow. (OOC 10 damage)."
If you want to see how I did it, just take a quick look at my profile / Character Sheet. It's mostly at the top (except for spells used... which I kept on the character sheet itself) for easy reference.

Lame. Why does everyone have woodland stride? *sad GM face*
Just kidding. I'm glad you guys have a chance to use your class abilities :-). Also, you can't see it, but the bushes are really detailed, with leaves and everything. I got excited about them. Then I realized they get all blurry when I upload them!

Nani,
It would be helpful for me who commonly views the flikr page on my phone if you would.list the positions of the people/creatures on the map.
As it stand I know I am standing close to someone but can't tell who. Silly small screen.
Trust me when I say being on a computer with a bigger screen doesn't help :) It's more of a file size issue than a screen size issue. I know on my phone at least I can zoom in... not that it helps much because the file size of the picture (on Flickr) is pretty low for a map this big.
From what I can tell you're definitely next to Valorian, and I believe next to Elyin.

I don't understand this...
I just realized something: Oggie, you're using Perform(oratory). I just remembered that it is a visual not a auditory skill, and now no one except for Asharii can see you. Sorry for not catching that earlier! I believe swapping perform skills is a move action.
Oratory is by its nature an audible skill I would think. I looked up Perform, and unless I missed something (very possible) I do not see a requirement for visibility. Am I missing something?
Caepio Alazario |
The oratory point is arguable. Because it is employed in the Distraction ability (visual) and not Countersong (auditory), it is often interpreted as a "visual" performance type. I admit that it's a little counter-intuitive.
As for whether or not bardic song is in effect, each bardic performace has its own display, and Inspire Courage is one or the other.
A 1st level bard can use his performance to inspire courage in his allies (including himself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the bard’s performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. Inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.
So we'll just need to be a little more specific about the form next time.
TwilightKnight |
So Oggie has to declare when he starts the performance if it is using a visual or audible component. Interesting.
Guess I need to play a bard for a few levels to get used to the funky rules.
Eric Brittain |
By default Oggie is always going to use an auditory effect (more of a talker than a showman).
I envision Oggies oratory as distinctly Galtian, basically as rabble rousing speachifing. I've always thought that the older style inspiring speeches were meant to be listened to and not necessarily seen ("I have a dream", "That's one small step for man", "Ask not what your country can do for you", etc.).
The thing about Perform(Oratory) being listed under the distraction ability is really odd. I guess then I can Orate in silence? Bends the mind it does.
In all the time I have been playing PFS I have yet to see Distraction in use. I have seen countersong used a few times.
I am fine how ever you want to run in Nani.
Just let me know and I will adjust my descriptions accordingly.
:-D
Nani O. Pratt |
To be entirely honest, if you meant for it to be auditory, then we will go with it being auditory. I admit, Oratory is one of those weird ones, for the exact reasons that John pointed out before. Kyle points out that inspire courage is not in fact tied to any perform skill. So just don't bother swapping and go with it.

Actual IM conversation between Kyle and me:
Kyle Pratt: Oggie lives, oh my!
Nani O. Pratt: oh?
Kyle Pratt: yep
Nani O. Pratt: I think he stole your thunder.
Kyle Pratt: I think he hit / killed the Spriggan
Kyle Pratt: Well, to be honest, it was Eagle's thunder
Nani O. Pratt: poor Valorian
Kyle Pratt: I was expecting it to be dead by my turn
Nani O. Pratt: ah well. fun to see who "won"
Kyle Pratt: Heh
Kyle Pratt: Whoever won, it sure as hell wasn't the spriggans
Nani O. Pratt: LOL
Nani O. Pratt: I'm posting this conversation in the OOC thread

Nani, you know my life will not be complete until my antics have inspired you to snort at least one of every major food group through your nose due to ill-timed yet inspired laughter.

You do recall that the mist had rolled out of the west when it entered the wedding festival grounds. Closing your eyes, you can feel the whisper of mist against your skin. Definitely emanating from the west.
Ah, I love your subtlety, Nani.
"Go west. West. West! By the way, the sun sets in the west - the direction of your qu-west. Do you have qu-west-ions or requ-wests for hints? You do? Oh, then go WEST, dang it!"
I tease.

So, just as a note, Kyle, John and I finished up Masks of the Living God this weekend. Yes, John played Jokhas (alongside my *ahem* "Paladin" of Iomedae and Kyle's Geisha Bard), which resulted in a lot of hilarity, and troubled moments for poor Jokhas.
"Keep them alive! They are just misguided!"
"Feel the wrath of a true god, Iomedae!" "Well there goes our cover. And what do you mean, true god?"
"Tenets of Razmir's Faith: Charity? Devotion?"
Brian Darnell |
I just finished Masks last Tuesday with my Inquisitor of Pharasma. It is some mod.
In our initial investigation we heard rumors that the high priest was a medusa; we were so terrified of fighting a medusa that ran blitzkrieg tactics on the place. We set a fire in the storage room to make a distraction to get into the upper floors. We went into the upper floors, fought the golem and a priest and scoured the high priest's room. As we left with the evidence; the whole place burned down.

Round 1: Luxury, Faith, and Loyalty
Round 2: Money, Power, and Proselytizing?
Round 3: Property Ownership, Building Golems, and Trapped Doors!
As you can tell, we had a rather crazy time. Jokhas talked down the angry mob that wanted to burn down the temple.
Mob: Do you swear this shall not remain a temple to Razmir?
Jokhas: By the time I am done with it, you will hardly think it the same place.
It, or something like it, will end up on his property list.

I ran 2nd of 3 sessions today.
Kratz had two players flogged (for slepping during the sermon), beat up a third one (for trying to strike Kratz) and branded a fourth (for stepping on the third step of the prayer hall stair) - all in 3 days. The players hate him with a passion. He is probably the cruelest most vicious NPC the players have met in a very long time.
One players is a trained scribe and got himself a sweet deal transcribing and got off the hook with regard to cleaning and training duties.

What's this? Spellcraft? The Miracles of Razmir are not subject to your thaumaturgic training; they are supernatural.
Although I've been spinning some of his actions to be slightly suspect, I assure you Jokhas means all too well. Since I recognize a few of his rituals could come off as sinister, I will start including short spoilers of what is "really" happening for those who want an out-of-game explanation. Read below if you would like to know more about how Jokhas functions.
Although labeled "Miracle-Worker of Razmir" as his class, Jokhas is a witch. His miracles are hexes, and his patron - near as he can tell - is Razmir. I've seen many evil eye/misfortune/slumber witches, and Jokhas's hex selections aim to enhance the party rather than harm the enemy.
This is the Scar hex, which grants Jokhas the ability to use his hexes - particularly Cackle, Fortune, and Healing - on you at a greater range. Because of our lower degree of magical healing, being able to manifest Cure Moderate Wounds at almost any distance could come in very handy.
Despite the seemingly permanent nature, it can be removed almost instantly. It also disappears at the end of the scenario, as Jokhas can only maintain six of these "scars."

Thats a very cool build you have gone for. As a witch player, I would love to see your character sheet at some point, maybe after the module is over, if you do not mind.

Argh! Continuing to be rather behind!
Kyle and John and I were at a big con this past weekend. I'll give them a chance to post (to be entirely honest, what happens next is completely up to all of you). Will Valorian eliminate the dangerous threat to the party? Will Oggie intervene to save the poor helpless innocent? Stay tuned!

RE: Current Spriggan combat - Swift Wind's attack modifier to low?
I think that Swift Wind's attack modifier is to low and that he is not using all of the buffs that are currently up.
Currently I believe he has haste (+1 to attacks) and Inspire Courage (+2 attacks).
He is also two weapon fighting (-2 to attacks).
I believe that his final attack modifier should be:
+7 BAB + 4 Strength +1 Haste +2 Inspire Courage +1 magic weapon -2 Two Weapon Fighting = +13 to attack
Thoughts?

This was my first reaction to the scene. I figured I'd share it.
- - -
Oggie stands and turns slowly to face Valorian. Galtian fire burns in his eyes as he strides up to within inches of that tall Andoran’s face,
“You think the fey are the ones you have to worry about using words to ensnare you? In Galt they kill you with words. Hell they tie you up, trap you and then kill you with just whispers. And there ain’t a ghost of a chance that you are likely to make it through Galt on your own. Not where we’re goin’. You know what they do to people who don’t know when to SHUT UP in Galt? They hunt you down and kill you and trap your soul in a big metal blade and you don’t go on to your reward. You just stay there and suffer.”
Hooking a thumb over his shoulder at the dryad and unicorn Oggie continues,
“These folk here have suffered at the hands of bad fey just like you. And don’t tell me that a man who studies the fey as much as you have don’t know the difference between a good one and a bad one. You know these are good ones. You know it in deep in your heart that these here are good folk. Admit and move on. Because your hatred is likely to cost more people you know their lives.“
“These folk here might just know what is going on with that bleachling gnome. They might have seen him or know where we need to go from here. Hell they might have even helped us.”
“How likely you think that is now? ”
“You just gotta ask yourself what is more important? Helpin’ or hating? ”
Oggie waits for Valorian’s reply.

Nice Diplomacy en the dryad, Eric.
Sorry Nani. Since Asharii can be such a b&!~+ I thought I would mitigate that with a "My Little Pony" fascination of equines.
As you may recall I had only just created Asharii when we started this Module. She is now level 6 in her actual status, but nothing has helped me define her increasingly complex personality as this game has :)
Alizor |
Eric, I think Swift would've liked your alternate response! He's actually really confused at what to do here. He's got his companions which he needs to be loyal to, but then there's this group of innocents... that he knows are innocents and doesn't know what to say to stop the two groups from fighting!
Apparently Swift Wind needs more social graces.
