"Well met, my fellow Pathfinders," the young man says with a bow, flourishing his patchwork cloak, which seems to be made from pieces of a variety of flags. "I am Ban. Most recently from Augustana but originally from Voluse, south of the Lake of Mists and Veils."
"I am a swordsman by training and trade and a traveler by choice," the youth continues amicably, "I don't know a lick about magic except that which can be done with a sword and a cloak. I do hope those of you who are divinely gifted will watch out for me should we get into a row and things go poorly."
"Marx gonna give it to ya, gonna give it to ya..." A small yet echoing voice rings out as a halfling mounted atop a wolf approaches from the Foreign Quarter, stopping at the fountain Ban was waiting at. "Am I early?" He pulls on his wolf's scruff to stop him in place, then hops off. Damien is no taller than three feet and has a veritable arsenal strapped to his back, including a large wooden hammer, a halfling-sized lance, and what could be a do-it-yourself weapon consisting of a sling taped to a short club. His hair is goldenrod yellow and tossed back in a messy nest that serves to compliment his stubbly beard.
He walks over to Ban and looks up from below with a toothy smile. "'ey Ban! Damien's the name, freshly confirmed by the Pathfinder Society and ready to take on whatever there is ta take on! That there is my faithful steed Ruby. I had a dream she was once a horse, can you imagine that? A horse turning into a wolf! HAH! Crazy!" He holds out his tiny hand to shake Ban's.

As halfling and man shake hands and introduce themselves, another small figure approaches, perched atop what looks like a medium-sized four-legged critter.
"Come on Inky, go faster! We don't want to be late, do we?" comes a squeaky female voice. As the figures approach the fountain, they're revealed to be a lady gnome with strawberry-blonde hair and bright green eyes and what appears to be a...tail-less fire cat? Except clearly the creature can't actually be on fire as its rider doesn't seem to be least bit uncomfortable.
"Late? If you had your way we'd have been out here since dawn!" the creature replies in a rather deep, but feminine, rumble. "And look, we're still plenty early - there's only these two here and by the way they talked there should be at least six, not including myself." The fire-cat-creature pads up to where the human and halfling stand, not seeming the least bit worried about what sort of reception she might receive, and proceeds to flop over onto her side, dumping her rider onto the cobblestones. "Here you are, delivered with plenty of time to spare."
"Ow! Geeze Inky, you could've just asked me nicely to hop down," the gnome grumbles as she gets to her feet. She looks at the others and offers her hand. "Hi! Pathfinders, right? Me too! I'm Nina Brightspark and this is my friend, Inky."
Switched it up because try as I might, I couldn't get into the proper mindset for my bard Aki. Also I admit that when I saw Damien show up I knew that he'd be the perfect companion for Nina, for reasons :3
Putting the slides together, and I need a little information:
Damien Marx: Please provide your Perception modifier; please provide Ruby's Initiative and Perception modifiers.
Nina Brightspark: Please provide a stat block for your eidolon, including its Initiative and Perception modifiers.
If there are any finishing touches necessary, please update your PCs.
Looking forward to getting started!
I too am looking forward to it!
Damien has +1 Perception. Ruby has +2 Initiative and +8 Perception.
The fire-cat stands up after a moment and seems to size up the humans and halfling that had already arrived. "Oh good, they all look strong enough to help me keep an eye on you," she rumbles, ignoring Nina's protests about being dumped onto the ground.
Inky reporting for duty as well!
Sorry, been signing up left and right and lost track of this one, apparently!
A sudden, inexplicable breeze in the room is the only advance warning of another arrival, as this bleach-colored man with handsome Keleshite features steps as lightly as a cat. He is dressed in light leather armor over well-made but drab clothes riddled with pockets, and carries an oddly mismatched pair of blades at his sides.
"Salutations, abbetors-to-be. I am Sirius Sa'luk, though some simply call me 'The Lucky Dog' - actually, I am known to some by all manner of names, but that's one of the few that most might be willing to consider a compliment."
He looks about at the room's many trinkets and trophies.
Dusty rolls into the Lodge in hard used clothes that seem to be held together mostly by trail dirt and travel stains. The only clean thing he seems to be carrying is an immaculately cared for crossbow with a brass stencil on it that reads Elizabeth.
Before he says anything he carefully sizes up the rest of the Pathfinders, giving a respectful nod to Nina. [b]The name's Dusty, Dusty Bligh if you're bein' formal. I've done a tour or ten out in the Nirmathan border, and when I had a field commission offered, I thought I'd see about gettin' a good look at some of the other places in the world while the gettin' was good.
Thanks, everyone, for checking in. Any last minute business I need to know about?
Anyone going to have trouble posting over the Labor Day weekend?
We could delay the start until Tuesday, if necessary, but my preference would be to get started first thing Friday morning.
I'm volunteering at Dragonflight in Bellevue, WA this Friday-Sunday, but I can still post once or twice a day, usually in the morning and evening Pacific Time.
|Ban of Voluse|
I *should* have Labor Day weekend free but we're basically a skeleton crew at work right now so that is subject to change at any time.
I will find an appropriate icon and paste it in for you, Larry. I'm at a con Thursday and Saturday of the Labor Day weekend but otherwise, I'm free!
Currently out ~shopping~ with my mother so I'll post later once I get home :)

Yes, my first map lacked permissions, too. :)
EDIT: But you do need to give us EDIT privileges unless you want to be doing all the moving of icons. :)

Just got home from an unexpected work shift after having also been up all day yesterday, so I'm pretty dang tired. Post to come either later today or tomorrow.
GM, would it be possible to have Ruby and I act on the same initiative count? This is how I've always run games in PbP, just to make things run smoother. If you prefer to do it split, that's fine with me too! Your call.
Ruby can certainly forgo action in the surprise round and delay until Damien acts in Round 1. Ruby won't be flat-footed and can make an immediate action, etc. She'd be following whatever command Damien last gave her.
If you'd prefer, you can make it your SOP that Damien and Ruby will act on the same initiative count, the higher initiative delaying until the lower initiative count.
Just let me know what Ruby does in this Surprise round.
Sounds good. I'll go with that option in the future - using whichever initiative is lower.
Nina isn't doing mounted combat (and right now Inky won't really be fighting unless something comes after Nina or herself) but feel free to put them both on the same initiative as well if it'll make things easier :)
So noted, thank you! :)
For those who were paying attention, yes, I did indeed forget to roll the ranged touch attack for the web the red spider threw at Ban in the surprise round.
I'll try to keep my mistakes to a minimum.
Please do point out any other errors to me in the discussion thread. I appreciate on-the-spot corrections. I spent almost three decades as a soldier; I learn best when my nose is rubbed in my mistakes right away.

Lorenzo: Where are you getting that the spiders cover the area with webbing with a ranged web attack? It's not same as the web spell.
Web spinners can create sheets of sticky webbing up to three times their size. They usually position these sheets to snare flying creatures but can also try to trap prey on the ground. Approaching creatures must succeed on a DC 20 Perception check to notice a web; otherwise they stumble into it and become trapped as though by a successful web attack. Attempts to escape or burst the webbing gain a +5 bonus if the trapped creature has something to walk on or grab while pulling free. Each 5-foot-square section of web has a number of hit points equal to the Hit Dice of the creature that created it and DR 5/—.
A creature can move across its own web at its climb speed and can pinpoint the location of any creature touching its web.
Format: web (+8 ranged, DC 16, 5 hp); Location: Special Attacks.
Thanks for catching the error.
This was the part I had remembered:
Web spinners can create sheets of sticky webbing up to three times their size.
Re-reading it, it's clear it's not referring to the ranged web attack. Should have reviewed it before posting. I'll ret-con now. No one was entangled, so no harm done.
To be clear, I'm currently in the wine cellar 'cause my turn hasn't come up. Please do let me know if I'm supposed to have moved forward. Dusty's got an itchy trigger finger!
I moved Nina/Inky to Slide #4 since I figured that we were supposed to but I can calculate movement as if coming from Slide #3 when their turn comes up :)
Also, you're doing fine GM! Though I admit that rubbing a person's nose in anything isn't really my style, I will do my best for you :3
You're doing a great job, Lorenzo.
Themyscira, are you going to attempt to aid Diplomacy?
I agree, you're doing great and I'm having a good time :)
Off to bed and then work most of the day tomorrow, so feel free to bot Nina & Inky if needed and I'll catch up when I get home tomorrow night :)
