PbP Tip: "Bot-Me" Instructions
For the folks new to PbP and a friendly reminder to everybody, if you know you'll be unable or unlikely to post, please let the table know.
In your PC's profile, you can add some "bot-me" instructions. PbP V-C Hmm created Bot Buddy’s Guide to Play-by-Post Character Botting that explains the concept.
The "bot-me" instructions let us know what your PC would do in common situations, so we can act in your absence, keeping the game flowing until you can return.
Thanks.

Sorry folks, I have some real life things to take care of. Hope to be back into business on Thursday. Please bot me.

I am looking at the map. You haven't talked about what squares of the forest are difficult terrain or impassable. If you are making the squares that only have partial forest in them normal movement I think I can move Makoa Diagonal SW to where the downed goblin is for 5 feet, south 5 feet behind Torgrin and then SE diagonally for 10 feet to be right in front of red and east of Torgrin's current position. North is top of the page to keep it easy. Is that correct?
GM Lorenzo |
The forest (squares with 50% or more trees in them) is difficult terrain.
Yes, the top of the map is north.

I will be away from the interwebs again this weekend, back on Sunday.
GM Lorenzo |
It's Free RPG Day on Saturday, and Father's Day is Sunday this weekend, so I'm expecting posting to be spotty at best. I know my family has some plans for me. I'll try to post each day, and we can gently bot Karayan, if necessary.
GM Lorenzo |
Friends, I apologize for my abrupt disappearance. My family treated me to a Father's Day "disconnected weekend." I'm back now.
Torgrin Deepsmith |
I apologize extremely, I was taken out of town for a few days again and I should have said something, I do hope I didn't hold anything up and fully understand if you had to kill me savagely
GM Lorenzo |
Torgrin, you're using your claws, natural attacks that do slashing damage, correct? 'Primary Attack' doesn't make that clear to me, but that's what I recall.
Let me know what weapon you're using and any buffs applied. For example:
Claw, Inspire Courage; Slashing Damage: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 1 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Lorenzo |
Folks, I'll try to post this weekend, but it might be tough. I'm overseeing a small local con, Toy & Geek Fest, Saturday and Sunday here in Puyallup, Washington.
Just check in from time to time, to see if things have been updated.
Torgrin Deepsmith |
Sorry they can be any type if damage I choose and I was using piercing as a way to be "more precise" (sharp poky things)
I did hit with that 24 though, more than 5 points of damage, 6 I think.
GM Lorenzo |
Cool. Even more important than I thought, then. Standard claws do B/S (not P) damage. If your PC's weapons can be anything, please do let me know each time what you've chosen them to be for that attack, because it matters for some creatures with DR and sometimes for other reasons.
Karayan |
My apologies for my absence, I was sick. I am starting to feel better though.
GM Lorenzo |
Shikaree, for those of us who might not remember the exact ability (the tantric seance thing) you're using, please provide a hyperlink to the ability and a brief description of the effects each time you use it.
Thanks.
Shikaree |
Sure, sorry. The hyperlink is clumsy because it's an ability that references things spread out in several different spots on the medium's class page (shared seance, and spirit boon for Champion spirit), but the mechanical aspect is that it's a +2 static, untyped bonus to all non-spell damage rolls for everyone in the party*, all day long, every day. (Every day I do a seance, anyway.)
In theory, it could change to other bonuses, but at this level and with this party composition, channeling a champion spirit makes a lot more sense than most of the other spirits I could be channeling.
*Except most animal companions, as you need an Int 3 or higher to participate. Sorry, Kifah.
Karayan |
I will be offline this weekend because I am enjoying a city trip with my wife. I will be back on Monday.
Travenix |
I too will be away this weekend. I will be back Sunday afternoon/evening and will check in then. I think there are enemies before me or I would post.
Currently Makoa can move 30' and Kifah 50' so she would stay with him they would double move until they could engage.
Once we can engage Makoa is +6 to hit (+5 normal +1 for boosted str) doing 2d4+4 damage. Kifah is +5 to hit 1d6+2, trip +4 (also boosted strength adding) not including anything from outside buffs)
GM Lorenzo |
Shikaree, did the die roll in your post include your bonuses from the shared seance/Champion spirit boon (+2 static, untyped bonus to all non-spell damage rolls)?
It's helpful for everyone to be reminded of that in your posts.

PbP Tip
Door Stoppers: For a variety of reasons, play often comes to a screeching halt when PCs encounter a door. Sometimes, especially in a dungeon crawl, it helps to develop a party standard operating procedure (SOP) for such frequent 'obstacles.' It's also quite acceptable for an assertive PC to ask everyone if they're ready, give them a chance to reply, then just open the door.
GM Lorenzo |
Torgrin, with a move, you'd be limited to only one standard action (a single attack), unless I've overlooked something.
It shouldn't affect the outcome, but I wanted to clear up any confusion.
Serge Foxmourn |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
There's gotta be a name for the "You've found the exact treasure we were seeking, we will now stage an ambush, kill you and take what's ours" trope. I can think of two other PFS adventures I've seen it in. Seems like it's a favorite of scenario authors. :)
"Bash" Steeltoe |
I'm sure its all completely based on the party's movement speed... too fast or two slow changes the 'who gets there first' arc.
GM Lorenzo |
In this case, the sequencing enables you to deal with one threat before facing a new one, and it provides you some loot that prevents your death from another.
Of course, that doesn't prevent it from feeling like you're stuck in a trope.
Karayan |
My online presence will be less than usual for the next two weeks due to a family vacation. Please bot me if you are waiting for me.
GM Lorenzo |
Please double check the information on Slide 2, and also let me know if there's anything you'd like me to note on your Chronicles.
I'll be putting them together this evening, using the info as entered on Slide 2 and adding anything you'd like.
GM Lorenzo |
Feel free to add your own spin to the conclusion to the adventure.
I hope you enjoyed the adventure as much as I did running it for you. Thanks, Makoa and Torgrin for giving PbP a try. Hope it met your expectations.
The rewards for this scenario are tied to your PC's level, so please ensure that's entered correctly on Slide 2.
Serge Foxmourn |
Looks good to me. Thank you for another great game, Lorenzo.
"Bash" Steeltoe |
I'll be completing this faction goal:
Complete at least three consecutive scenarios in which you completed both the primary and secondary success conditions. Sanctioned adventures that do not include secondary success conditions neither interrupt nor contribute to this goal.
Thanks for the game Lorenzo! Also glad to see Serge tear some things up with that greatsword.
Serge Foxmourn |
GM, would you allow this faction goal to be checked?
Accept the surrender of an enemy combatant (other than an evil outsider or undead creature), and ensure his fair treatment until he can safely be released, ransomed, or delivered to authorities for justice. Alternatively, allow an enemy combatant with no means of escape to flee without further harm.

Thank you for running this for us GM! Team, you were great players, I enjoyed this a lot.
GM, I filled slide 2. Do you think that the fact that the Irrica family trafficked with devils or Pava attacking us would count for the sovereign court faction goal Recover blackmail or incriminating evidence against a named NPC aristocrat, noble, ambassador or similar figure?
If not I will attempt to win Pava over for the Sovereign Court once we are in Almas, no good trying to do that under Serge’s nose. That is successful on a take 10.
GM Lorenzo |
Serge, you met the intent of the faction goal to accept the surrender of an enemy combatant (other than an evil outsider or undead creature), and ensure his fair treatment until he can safely be released, ransomed, or delivered to authorities for justice. I'll note it on the Chronicle.
Karayan, you met the intent of the faction goal to recover incriminating evidence against a named NPC noble. I'll note it on the Chronicle.
GM Lorenzo |
Marcie, this scenario has no secondary success conditions, unfortunately, so we can't go with that faction goal. Is there another you'd like me to annotate?
"Bash" Steeltoe |
Well shoot... ok how about this one:
Participate in an adventure that directly assists an NPC Pathfinder agent or agent of an allied organization, such as by mounting a rescue, recovering an important object, or defending that group’s resources and reputation.
GM Lorenzo |
I don't think so, Marcie. Nothing in the scenario seems to quite fit that goal, either. Sorry
GM Lorenzo |
I've reported the session to Paizo already.
You can access your Chronicles here. Please review them and let me know if you need me to correct any errors.
I'll designate the scenario inactive as soon as everyone lets me know their Chronicles are good to go and has had a chance to download them for their records.
