Is this the table you were announcing at the DMK recruitment thread?

I have ran Library of the Lion, but as a Venture-Lieutenant, I promise on my duty to Paizo-ness to not abuse that knowledge.
That said, I'm thinking of running my PC as a bit of a Enrique Iglesias type, with a fiery passion.

Hi all,
I'm also brand-new to PbP, so bear with me as I learn the ins and outs.
I know I saw a post on these boards yesterday that was basically a PbP primer, but now I can't find it. Anyone have a link?

PbP does have some great advantages; being able to take your time to word and tailor responses is my favorite. Combat pace is hard to balance, but not impossible. Hope you do enjoy this!

Looks good Eric *narrows his eyes* almost to good. In the chaotic events that went with getting this group together I have forgotten to introduce myself. I go by Kyshkumen on the forms but my real name is Scott. I have been playing and GMing PFS since 2011. I take part in my local PFS group out in the San Fransico bay area, we call it BAPS (Bay area Pathfinder Society). I have played in a few PbP games but this is only my 2nd/3rd as a PbP GM. I feel that I should mention that as a GM my goal is to make sure you have fun and to tell a compelling story. So if you find yourself in a sticky situation trust that it is more for building tension and less me trying to out right kill you. Death does happen in this game but I do not see it as something I need to shoot for.

The peeking thing is something I'll definitely have to fix. I'm used to clicking every spoiler on these forums to get an idea of what was said within. I'll work on it, or at least will separate my ooc-knowledge from ic-knowledge.

Hi guys!
I'm obviously still trying to get the hang of the speed at which things move here, I'm just wondering what the standard is for consent to move the storyline along? Do you need to have a few people in a row say "yep, let's go!" or is it generally up to the GM to just judge when people are ready to move on?

I had this big post typed up talking about how with out party composition we ought to be well-prepared for stealth challenges and taking inventory of all our skills, then accidentally refresh and lost everything. Here's the short version:
Social and utility skills, highest modifier
Bluff: Lucia and Vassago, +8
Diplomacy: Robert and Vassago, +8
Intimidate: Vassago and Scrumpy, +4
Sense Motive: Scrumpy, +4
Disable Device: Robert, +12
Sleight of Hand: Robert, +9
Perception, Stealth
Kyrie: +2, +3
Lucia: +5, +10
Robert: +4*, +7
Taalaako: +6, +8
Vassago: -1, +6
Barham: +2, +6
Scrumpy: +4, +6
Other Notes
Robert and Vassago both can roll any Knowledge check, and both Robert and Taalaako are trained in Linguistics.
Barham can boost other PC's skill rolls by up to +5 with Guidance and aid another (Helpful).
Kyrie is the only party member who can prepare Light or Dancing Lights, while Robert, Vassago, and Scrumpy all have darkvision.
I find these sorts of breakdowns helpful so that when the party find the need to pick a lock or charm an NPC, we have some idea of who should roll straight and who should aid. As it stands, between his generally high modifiers and class Inspiration ability, Robert should be our point man for most skill challenges that are best undertaken by a single person, such as aforementioned lock picking. Barham, with his wand of infernal healing, can play party healer should the need arise, but anyone who would object to the [evil] descriptor should pack their own.

Some of that will be helpful, but there are special rules for parts of this scenario that will change how aiding another will function. I believe they were added to take pressure off the players to meta game and also to stream line the adventure. When we get to that point I will post the new info over in the campaign tab for easy reference.

No preference. Seeing how various GMs cast the eidolon is actually one of my favorite parts of the character--previous Scrumpy tokens include wolf, Final Fantasy ifrit, and tentacle blob monster.

Crazy bird beast. I like it.

It is in fact the eidolon of the iconic summoner. If you look closely you can see the summoner's hat in it's mouth. My second choice was a voidwalker from WoW.

Ok... Looks like Taalaako and I will be the primary searchers, with Vassago assisting most of the time. With my inspiration being free for knowledge/linguistic checks this will hopefully go quickly. :)
Robert Smythe

Well, the knowledge/linguistic checks are trained only, so he'll have to come up with some other skill that would be able to aid. I know, I have a helpful halfling too, as soon as I could I put a rank in every skill that required training to use.

Slow goings with only 2+Int per level, sadly.
Is there anything we should know, in character or out, about a time limit to the scenario (if there is one)?
Barham Topperbush
|
Right, but to what extent is that time actually tracked? Wondering if we need to budget time as long as our strategy doesn't involve a dozen casts of mending.
Barham Topperbush
|
Cool, but I'm still hesitant to take the two hour allotment at face value. Even setting aside a third of the time for logistics, that's enough to take 20 on 40 separate checks. There must be a catch somewhere down the road--but I don't want to get too metagamey, so this is purely OOC.
GM Kyshkumen

Without giving to much away there are set amounts of time to search a room based on it's size. This amount is then reduced by the amount of people searching. Taking 20 implies that you are failing multiple times and would burn huge amounts of time as each fail would count as an attempt at searching a room. You are much better off making the rolls.

Aha, shouldn't have assumed it would be one attempt/round. That makes more sense, thanks.
Barham Topperbush

I'm not entirely clear on what it means to "search" a room, in this context. Do you have to actively declare it, or is it implied in any sort of investigative check? Do we have to guess the relevant skill, or will any skill suffice with proper justification, or will we be prompted for the correct one?
GM Kyshkumen
|
You are literally going through the books as quickly as possible trying to find anything on the shining crusade or a least something that will point you to it. Taalaako stated that he wished to do that and started by making a linguistics check, one of the skills listed for this kind of search on the campaign info tab. I have listed the size of this room and an additional rule that works in this room. If you wish to use a different skill let me know as it will probably on have a -2 penalty.

Just a heads up I will be putting a lot of info on the campaign tab as there will be vital information and special rules to reference.
My bad, totally missed this part. All good now.
