Vincent swings at the remaining lunatic. "Don't say things like that. Next thing you know they'll turn into demons and break out of those chains like they're made of dry pasta."
P.Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 1 = 9
Damage: 2d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (6, 5) + 7 + 3 = 21
I'm not going to reroll that. Jeffrey's got this handled, I'm sure.

![]() |

"Ah, don't worry that pretty little head of hair of yours, Vin. They would have broken out by now, if they could have."
Can't. Resist. Tempting. Fate.

![]() |

At least you didn't say, "How bad could it get?"
Since moving in would provoke, Tuich is gonna be boring some more.

![]() |

Cold Iron Longsword, Tower Shield Penalty: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 - 2 = 14 Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Jeffrey turns and swings his sword during the motion.
"Don't worry, these guys can't even break dry pasta."

![]() |

Heavens no, I don't like that we're doing as much fighting as we already are!

![]() |

Vyk returns to the room with the table and peeks into the room to the south. The one marked with "open door".
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

![]() |

"Hmm. Can anyone cast a light spell on my sword. Don't much like the idea of leaving this ominous, dark passageway unexplored."

![]() |

"Surely," Tuich says as she moves forward. "కాంతి!" Ting!

![]() |

"Thank you, Tuich," Vyk responds with a small grin.
The tiefling moves forward to the first door and opens it carefully. Opening D27.

![]() |

Vyk is able to peek into the cell through a small window on the door. The filthy blood stained room appears to be empty and Vyk cautiously opens the door. Luckily it appears that the room is not occupied at this time. Suddenly a voice calls from down the hallway, "Hello? Is anybody there?"

![]() |

"Aha," Vincent proclaims, "Cells. For those Crove hasn't gotten to yet. Maybe someone will have information here."
Vincent continues down the hall and stops when confronted with the man in his cell. "Pathfinders, actually. I'm Vincent. We're here for information on what's going on with the town, since we got a tip that Crove might be involved. It's a long story. What's yours?" He keeps out of reach in case the man can slip a hand through the door's window, but keeps a steady smile and slowly holsters his greatsword.

![]() |

"Pathfinders? Don't know what that is, but glad to hear someone came to check on Crove. He is indeed involved with some very bad things." He takes a deep breath, "I tried to warn them before, but those crows didn't listen. I used to be one of the orderlies for the patients before Crove started to work on us." the man turns his head to show several scars similar to the ones on the guards upstairs. "I guess mine didn't take. So I escaped and tried to warn people about Crove, only they just brought me back to Crove and he locked me up down here. Please take me with you. I'll help you prove what a bad man Crove is."

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26 Is this guy telling the truth about his origin and his hatred for Crove?
Vincent frowns as he listens to the man. "What's your name, then?"
Once the man replies, Vincent will turn back to the others and say, "Well guys, I think he's (lying / telling the truth)," depending on the result of the Sense Motive check.

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Miko keeps silent, her face expressing alarm. She looks around to see if there might be anyone listening in, and calms down slightly, then hums a brooding tune
We went into on a moonlight night
Searching all the places that you hang about
We're looking for you...

![]() |

Tuich nudges Vyk. "I knew it!" she says quietly. "Didn't I say?"

![]() |

When Vincent announces the man's telling the truth Jeffrey steps forward and tackles the cell's door.
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

![]() |

If Jeffrey's first attempt at busting open the door fails, Vincent grabs a crowbar from his pack and hands it to the fighter to help with his next attempt.
"We might as well, Ploog." Vincent quickly introduces everyone as Jeffrey handles the door. "What can you tell us about this place? About Crove? Do you know anything about what's going on in the town?"

![]() |

Tuich nudges Vyk. "I knew it!" she says quietly. "Didn't I say?"
"Yes, you did. And personally I'm going to take great pleasure in sending a lightning bolt crashing through his spleen. This guy is a creepy, evil bastard who needs to be ended."

![]() |

Jeffrey manages to get the door open after Vincent offers him the crowbar. Ploog steps out, a look of relief washing over his face. "Crove is an evil man, obsessed with some sort of book. Him and his friends used the patients for some of their experiments. Even dumbing down the orderlies so they wouldn't ask questions. As I said earlier I was an orderly here so I know most of the asylum. Though I do not know Crove's personal quarters or what's at the end of this passage." He points to one of the cell doors.D28 "Best not go in there. Crove keeps one of his pets he found below the city in there. As far as what is going on outside the asylum I have no idea. I have been trapped down here for quite a long time."
Revealed the areas Ploog knows on the map. Feel free to ask him any questions about some of the rooms.

![]() |

Tuich Miko says with a sudden resolve in her voice can I borrow your knife?
Does Ploog imply that Crove's personal quarters are somewhere in that northeast bit? If so, Miko would like to head there...
----
Only as we entered the complex did we get a sense of the scale of the place. Corridor upon corridor, hallway upon hallway, gruelling contraptions, horrors better not recounted here. The magnitude of the halls made it easier for our team to manage to make our way up to the east wing unseen. The place was quiet, not a snore or sigh to break the silence. It was there that we discovered the quarters of what must have been the overseer of the complex, door ajar. A body lay on the floor, face still covered by a golden mask, cut with a thousand pinpricks. At the end of the corridor we saw a form move, tiny light steps, no taller than four feet. She disappeared, leaving only the sound of a knife clattering to the ground. As I caught the gaze of our trapbreaker, we knew we had to act fast.

"Tuich," Miko says with a sudden resolve in her voice, "can I borrow your knife?"
"I..." Tuich looked at Miko with concern, her eyes searching the other woman's face. "Miko, I don't have a dagger, just..."
She detached a Varisian implement from her belt sash, looked at it for a few moments, then held it out. "Be careful. A starknife is razor-sharp all the way 'round. Using one is a special skill. What did you..."
She didn't finish the question, unsure of the wisdom in asking what she wanted a knife for... not to mention her doubt over giving a knife to a disturbed person in the first place, even if Miko's condition was only temporary.
But... one had to trust.
I think the sooner we can resolve the Crove thing the better, so I'm also for heading to his space.

![]() |

I agree with skipping right to the boss.
"Alright, let's go crack this guy open like walnut."

![]() |

"Alrighty!"
Jeffrey moves with the others, preferably up front.

![]() |

Jeffrey takes point and opens the door Ploog indicates. Inside a single large desk sits in the northern poart of this room, a high-backed chair with a deep purple cushion sitting just beyond it.
Going to move this along.
A quick search of the room reveals nothing important. Jeffrey then opens the next door. A large circular table in this study is cluttered with scrolls, books, and an eclectic mix of strange devices that could be surgical instrumetns, weapons, or writing implements. A human skull bearing horn-like growths along one side and with a malformed jaw sits on one corner of the desk. An older man stands in the corner of the room before an open passage a black pit open in the floor before him. A fat round demonic creature climbs out before the dark portal closes behind it. "Not sure who you are, but once I saw you with Ploog I knew you'd come for me." The old man says from behind his demonic minion.

Vincent casts Protection From Evil on himself, mentally preparing himself for the battle before moving in, his magic sword drawn. Judgment(Justice) activated (+2 Attack).
Spiritual Weapon doesn't take up the space, right? Can I move into the far corner?

Sounds good to me.

"Augh!" Tuich throws her hands up before her face, but not quickly enough.
Spiritual Weapon doesn't take up the space, right? Can I move into the far corner?
I didn't find a definitive answer to that, but no one in the thread disagreed with this:
1. Can it occupy the same square as an opponent? (I think not).
1. It doesn't occupy a square.
So it would seem the answers are yes and yes. The questions might be moot, though, because:
1) In reading the description to see if it talked about space, I noticed I'd neglected that Spiritual Weapon attacks from the caster's direction, so I suppose it actually should've been in the square Vyk's in now; that, or the square at the door.
2) There's also "If the weapon... goes out of your sight... the weapon returns to you and hovers." If that implies actually being able to see it versus simple line of sight, then wouldn't Glitterdust disable it, in which case it's floating back to Tuich even now?

![]() |

I have Step Up. It goes off as he steps away, before he casts.
"No you don't!" Vincent shouts as Crove attempts to cast a spell. He closes the distance swiftly and swings his sword to disrupt the man's chant.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 2 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 = 16
DC 26 Concentration check, please.
Doesn't matter, but my Will save is a +8, not +5. I wrote it kinda weird in the block. Technically a +9 if Crove is evil, which is likely.

![]() |

Vyk snarls as he is suddenly blinded.
"I'm going to love killing you!"

![]() |

Darn.
Vincent doesn't get a good opening to swing before the blinding dust settles on him. "Well played," he mutters, blinking furiously.

Miko makes a curteous nod, accepting the starknife with both hands, her eyes narrowing to slits as she watches the all-round-sharp blade.
---
Miko is slow to react, but the slow fuse is followed by an enourmous explosion. She inhales deeply, and then, with perfect pitch and intonation, screeches a curse of doom at Crove:
You will pay the price
For my own sweet brother
And what he has become
And a hundred other boys and girls
And all that you have done
I'm activating my Moment Of Glory boon. I gain 1 mythic tier for three rounds. I need to figure out the details, but I think it at least gives me some surges, some extra hp, a feat (which I'll take as proficiency with the starknife), and the Rally ability.
I'm a bit sketchy on the rules, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Feels a bit powerful for a boon.
Actions:
Standard: Cast Blistering Invective
Intimidate + Mythic Surge: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (14) + 8 + (2) = 24 RFX DC 16
- You unleash an insulting tirade so vicious and spiteful that enemies who hear it are physically scorched by your fury. When you cast this spell, make an Intimidate check to demoralize each enemy within 30 feet of you. Enemies that are demoralized this way take 1d10 points of fire damage and must succeed at a Reflex save or catch fire. Spell resistance can negate the fire damage caused by this spell, but does not protect the creature from the demoralizing effect.
Swift: Use Rally
- Next round, everyone gets a d20 reroll (as per the Rally mythic ability)

Miko's voice echos across the room, clearly effecting the demon and Crove is a visual burst of flame.
Relex Crove: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

While the flames do not seem to bother the demon, Crove instantly catches fire.

"He turned right! There may be another exit. Try to cut him off!" Vincent calls to the others as he barrels down the hallway after Crove, touching his holy symbol and incanting a prayer for extra speed.
Casting Expeditious Retreat and moving 50 ft. A double move would have only been 40 ft due to armor. He'll move up to Crove and past him if possible, maybe to flanking with Miko if possible. If he takes an AoO, that's fine. I'll let you move me, since I'm not sure where Vincent will end up. 2/5 1st level spells remaining.
