Instead of worrying who is paying what, let's just each do 150 gp.
That's 5 ways, and we'll all be using it liberally.
I've also bought a MW rapier and the potion of CLW back.
Ready to go!
GM Fuzzfoot |
Seems the best approach.
So,
Derrik would get 404 gold, 5 silver, 2 holy waters, 1 smokestick, and 10 bolts.
Somer would get 315 gold and masterwork chain shirt.
Everyone else gets 440 gold (and Mouser has spent some more).
Please update accordingly.

FYI, I'll be traveling in Europe for the next two weeks. I'll try to keep up on posting, but will likely be sporadic. Please bot me as needed.
Somer Hiondu |
Nice. Hope you have a great time.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Have a good trip! As you may have noticed, I have been sort of slammed the last few days too - end of school year, 4 graduation ceremonies, etc. I didn't think it would take up so much time or I would have warned you... but should be better now.
Somer Hiondu |
It is a time of year when things come up.
Next Saturday I fly out for a week of classes that I am in no way interested in but my board is making me do. I will still get on-line but not as regularly.
Somer Hiondu |
Tomorrow I am traveling. I should have internet thought the class I am being forced to take.
Somer Hiondu |
If we are waiting on Mouser he is traveling in Europe I believe.
Hopefully he is safe give todays news stories,
GM Fuzzfoot |
Actually, it as just that the last 6 times I tried to post, the server was down... but yes, I hope Mouser is safe and having a good trip!
Somer Hiondu |
So if someone yells to get me upstairs will I hear?
I placed a second token to start moving back if I could hear a shout. if not the normal token is where I am.
Mouser Lowhill |
Sorry for the absence...our trip was packed and I had little time to breathe, let alone post. I'm back and safe (though there were attacks in both cities I was in, once just hours after I had been at Notre Dame...crazy.
I'll be posting regularly again.
Somer Hiondu |
Glad your back safe and sound. Crazy times.
Somer Hiondu |
So the biggest weakness of this group is going to be lack of ranged damage. Well that and we keep splitting up.
We are going to need to work on a plan of attack if we survive to the actual titular giants.

OH ho!! Thank you, I did forget that. I will change that to Frostbite and Infernal Healing.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I am ok with either a standard roll, or take the average as per PFS, but I think you choose once and lock it in for the long haul. As a small bonus, I will offer three additional qualifiers.
1. If you choose to roll, you may re-roll a result of 1 (once per level).
2. If you choose to roll AND spend a Hero point, you can re-roll regardless of first roll, and take the highest of the two.
3. At level 11, you get a one-time chance to switch which method you use.
Sound fair?
Somer Hiondu |
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 2 Looks like the Hero Point option for me lol.
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Somer Hiondu |
I do not know why but every time I level up a character for the first time I regret initial decisions.
Now I wish I had not gone the weapons finesse rout with Somer because it feels like such a stereotype. The grass is always greener I guess.
GM Fuzzfoot |
You know, this is going to be a long haul, and I don't mind using PFS rules for retraining, which means you could retool 1st level if you like. It sucks to be looking at 19 more levels if you wanted something a little different...
Unless anyone else objects?
Derrik Nular |
yes I agree, plus you're an elf so you get racial weapons, a build I saw said to get the Bastard sword 1h because it is the best when not using finesse
Somer Hiondu |
Oh, my. I thought that was a thought exercise but I really appreciate it, looks like not a lot of work is getting done today lol.
Somer Hiondu |
Ok, I made the revisions and will be much happier in the long run, it just makes more sense to me.
I deducted the gold for the different weapons. If possible I will buy that WM Longsword back, I have the gold to cover it, if not I will stick with a standard.
I appriciate the change to redo that. Thinking about the long haul I like the variety of armaments this opens up over just rapier poking.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Yes, you can buy back the longsword for 1/2 price since no one else claimed it.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Hey gang - we are going to recon the current scene a little. I was doing the math, and there is no way for you to succeed and a high likelihood of TPK if you try.
The rules for smoke inhalation are:
A character who breathes heavy smoke must make a Fortitude save each round (DC 15, +1 per previous check) or spend that round choking and coughing. A character who chokes for 2 consecutive rounds takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage. Smoke obscures vision, giving concealment (20% miss chance) to characters within it.
That's pretty rough for level 2, and once you look at what it will take to save Sara, I don't give you good odds. Throw orcs into the mix, and it is ridiculous.
I went searching the boards, and many did wipe out here. 1 group calculated a 2% chance of success. Someone else did recommend holding your breath, though, and the rules for that are:
You can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to twice your Constitution score, but only if you do nothing other than take move actions or free actions. If you take a standard action or a full-round action (such as making an attack), the remainder of the duration for which you can hold your breath is reduced by 1 round. (Effectively, a character in combat can hold his breath only half as long as normal.) After that period of time, you must make a DC 10 Constitution check every round to continue holding your breath. Each round, the DC for that check increases by 1. If you fail the Constitution check, you begin to breath in smoke as above.
So, anyone who wants to start their first round with the words (I hold my breath) may do so...
Now, spellcasting will still be a problem, but overall it will give you a fighting chance.
EDIT: Also, I couldn't find any rule to support it, but those who went in with a wet cloth over their face will get a +2 to their fort save vs smoke.
Sound ok?
Somer Hiondu |
Well that would certainly be an inglorious death. Again thank you wise and powerful GM for stopping us form being stupid.
Somer will hold his breath, that should give him 11 rounds, if my first attack now counts immediately halving my duration. Ideally a wet rag would also have made sense, I guess just pulling my shirt up as I started would not really do much.
Would you like us to redo our actions or just move forward?
Derrik Nular |
I have listened to a pod cast for this and I think the guys were 3rd level before they got here.
Derrik could hold his breath for 28 rounds
GM Fuzzfoot |
We can just move forward. Just remember that anything other than move actions will reduce the duration.
Derrik, I haven't seen that, but it wouldn't surprise me. A few comments I read today included some people starting characters at level 2 because of the assassin scene. This has been a pretty brutal module for low level... however, it is also supposedly for 4 characters.
Somer Hiondu |
Are we headed to L5: The Killing Grounds (Bar) to insure that it is empty? That seemed to be Derrik's plan and it makes sense to me.
Anyone think we should check the houses? Not sure if we need to prioritize speed or if we are on a clock here.
Derrik Nular |
yes but so is rescuing citizens, I just figured we had to move that way do we not to get to the beacon?
There is also the guard slumped into the well
Somer Hiondu |
We are getting points that mean something for the humanitarian effort and Somer lives in town he would want to see the people saved. I would like to check the bar and the well, the person may be alive still, before moving on to L11 which promises story updates.
That said I will go with what the others think. No splitting the party again lol.
Somer Hiondu |
Thinking about this fight do you guys think we should hold back and have them come to us? If they have concealment it might be better, unless she just throws the spears shown in her picture at us that is.
Mouser:
Sorry that post about the neckless was abrupt. I really thought there was another post before that one though it may have just been something that passed though my head as I was falling asleep, one of the problems with being middle age with a newborn lol.
