So it turns out I am no longer immune to jet lag. Trying to get caught up on all my games seems more work than enjoyment at the moment.

- the barreddoor int he undead's chamber was barred from the opposite side, I'm assuming. does that lead back towards the area we've already searched.

@Dolgrin: 1: I am running this dungeon as a 'theater of the mind' style, as it is supposed to be disorientating and confusing. If we get into a fight were positioning will matter, I'll throw something together for us to use.

2. You are reasonably certain that the barred door in the tomb does not lead back to where you came from. Your sense of direction is good enough to determine that, and the door itself is stylistically different from what you've previously encountered.

I've been a bit confused for quite a while but as Vhaezil stated looking forward to see what Zask 2.0 looks like

Well i think the nature of this dungeon / adventure is meant to be very dangerous. When i had the conversation with GMF the failed save meant that Zask had an uncontrollable urge to jump into the pit. That he wouldnt be able to resist himself. So I posted hoping to see if someone would interact with him. With no one showing any concern or doing anything really i guess i just felt the next logical step was to act and just play the game.

The pace has been very slow in the dungeon, so I wanted to push the narrative forward.

I'm not opposed to retroactively having someone save Zask.. ie, if someone wanted to try and make a reflex save / athletics check or something to try and grab him as he falls, that could be okay, but alternatively i am very happy with him dying and just rolling up something new and fun.

I think in the end I just wanted us to move forward, get out of this dungeon and progress. Perhaps the death of a friend would do that for the group, not sure.

I am very much looking forward to how you lot get out this death trap though.. dont dissapoint! :) Zask 2.0 is in the works, dont worry.


Failing the will save just instilled the compulsion, Zask decided how to play it out.

If people want to ret-con the events, that is fine. I would go with an DC15 Insight roll to determine that Zask is behaving oddly, followed by a DC15 athletics or acrobatics roll to grab him when he jumps (if no one makes the insight check then this DC bumps up to 20).

Gang - wee heads up - work hammer is swinging hard this week. Bunch of offshore ops have converged for kickoff o'er the next 7-10 days which means I'm having to do a bunch of pre-job work and scheduling in the run up.

Between prepping rental kit packages, client meetings and getting my offshore teams readied, my heads frankly mince.

Bear with - posting opportunities might be fleeting, and content basic until later in the week.


@Lichen: DC15 is considered a medium difficulty for 5e. It's also collective for all PCs.

@Dolgrin: You get a +5 to insight, not that it mattered with that roll.

@Vhaezil: You can try to grab Zask, based on Dolgrin's insight roll.

Hey guys, it's been 5 days without any action. I know Vhaezil has been quite busy with work but is there just no interest in the dungeon or the game? Really has seemed like when it isn't Vhaezil or myself posting that it comes to a stand still.

I think it would be fair to the GM if you aren't interested in playing to let him know so we can inject some life.

I am online every day. But I am a druid who did not want to even come into this place. I agree the slow posting makes it hard to follow though. I have been confused for half of the current set of encounters. My vote is for the group to get out asap and maybe burn the place. IC I am trying to show that.

Think of the game as a slow burn (of hellish flame lol) - think the character's are great and plot is intriguing.

Have a feeling it will likely go Indiana-Jones self-destruct once we initiate something, but regardless we are trying to find clues to where Dolgrin's hereditary delve is.

But now Zask has elevated things by going PVP without GM control, or as best as I can tell even urging. Hmm...


Ok just to be clear. The information that I PMed to Zask following his failing of the saving throw was that the PC was filled with a desire to jump into the pit and the conditions that would break the compulsion.

I am not urging PVP.

Also I specifically mentioned that the archive room had the books needed to find the location of the lost dwarven hold. Pack up the books and leave and you were done.

But you went on and killed the sacred parasite and well, as Vhaezil implied, the boulder is now rolling, still no reason you can't make it out alive.

Still if nobody posts, nothing can happen.

I'm not too fussed with the PVP - think it was in keeping with the warped nature of the Duvan'Ku - the very fabric of the place is tainting some of us.

Apologies - I totally missed that the books we'd discovered would lead to enlightenment of the delve's location.

Reckon we grab the valuable books, shield artifact and Zask (in that order ;) and skedaddle?

I too am ok with PVP but its a can of worms that is sometimes left unopened. And I too missed the book's significance.

Sorry, let me explain a little bit.

I knew the conditions in which Zask would be freed from the compulsion. I attempted to (with little success) drop hints and hope for a non-confrontational resolution.

No body took the bites and resulted in him chucking himself into the hole and the struggle etc.

I role played the compulsion being stronger the second time around, and with Vhaezil actively attempting to get the shield off his back I figured Zask would respond (as he does with everything) with a bit of violence.

If nothing else it prompted everyone to post and react to him. (I am just role playing Zask, the halfling who has knows your characters for like no time at all).

I think this is is how i would have played it at a table as well.

Re: The Books. I saw the note, but Vhaezil wanted to delve deeper.. Zask is down for the challenge.
