Ariana-Fighter
|
Ariana moves into the room with the goblins, and takes a powerful swing at the closest one.
+1 Bastard Sword with Power attack and Fire Damage: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 14 - 2 = 30
Attack Dice: 1d10 + 14 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 14 + (2) = 24
Auric Voralius
|
Auric moves into the room after Ariana, and shoots an arrow at the easternmost goblin.
+1 Shortbow, Heroism, PBS, AS: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 + 1 = 201d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 9
Aikio the Red
|
Aikio moves around the cubicles to see the apparition. "No one ever said anything about a ghost in the mausoleum during three years of training," she comments.
Kn (religion): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
"What are these shiny cubicles all about?"
Kn (??): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
If a single move is enough to get a shot (Cannae see map)...
The white streak of feathers glows brightly as the wizard channels her natUral sorcerous abilities. Ice dart vs. touch: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15
Sickly
|
If Aikio has a 30' move, than a single move would put you in that top right corner with a straight shot at the apparition. Can't move your token for you though.
Sickly goes even paler than he already was, his eyes going wide as the ghostly creature seems to pull the life force right out of Brewslee.
The dwarf's swings take on a little more desperation.
"Go away!" He shouts.
Melee Attack, rage, PA: 1d20 + 12 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 2 - 2 = 24, for 2d6 + 8 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 8 + 3 + 6 = 26
Iterative Attack, rage, PA: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 - 2 = 16, for 2d6 + 8 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 8 + 3 + 6 = 20
Aikio the Red
|
"A specter," Aikio warns, not knowing what that might mean. cold: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
edit: ninja'd, but yes
Kishara
|
Kishara rounds the corner and moves in front Aikio, drawing a flask. She hurls the flask of clear liquid, flashing back into visibility.
Ranged Touch, Holy Water: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 Holy Water Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 Sneak Damage?: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6) = 16
I know you can't normally sneak attack a ghost except with a ghost touch ability on a weapon, but since holy water affects it fully, I figured I'd roll it just in case.
Brewslee Haiiya
|
Brewslee's ki continues to burn brightly as he stumbles headfirst into the cubicle. He waves his arm out trying catch himself and grasp at anything solid, completely oblivious that the blade is even in his grasp.
Use Ki for extra Flurry attack
Flurry 1: 1d20 + 7 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 - 2 - 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 = 10
Flurry 2: 1d20 + 7 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 2 - 2 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 4 = 11
Flurry 3: 1d20 + 7 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 2 - 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 = 10
Flurry 4: 1d20 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 2 - 2 = 0
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 4 = 9
Sickly
|
As the spectre's form fades and vanishes, Sickly takes a step back, leaning against a nearby stone cubicle to catch his breath.
It takes him a moment before he realizes the cubicle is far colder to the touch than it should be, and a moment later, to realize he is standing the middle of an unconventional morgue.
A look of distress crosses his face, and he immediately runs for the exit, wiping the hand that was touching the cubicle furiously on his pant leg.
Well, guess we wanted the extra action! Though do we have any way to remove the 2 negative levels Brewslee has?
Aikio the Red
|
Both goblins fall, their dastardly schemes foiled forever.
This made me sad, poor goblins and their dastardly schemes :(.
"Brewslee are you all right?" she operates the wand to help some of the wounds. She shakes her dark feathered head at the real wounds that are beyond her capabilities.
UMD: 1d20 ⇒ 12, CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Do we search further or hurry back to the waiting site?
Brewslee Haiiya
|
Brewslee grabs the wall and begins to throw up. I don't feel sho well.....I think the shtadium shellers shold me cheap booze....
Auric Voralius
|
Auric remains still, pale as a ghost, as he gazed upon the restless dead. He did not manage to find the inner resolve to move and help his companions deal with the creature, as his moist hands are clutching his bow far too tightly than usually.
"Is... is that thing gone?"
Aikio the Red
|
Aikio the Red snaps her fingers and delights in the colorful sparks that appear.
Happy StAexit Day! (For those that celebrates this :)
May your bombs burst in the air :)

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
*******************
Aikio the Red
|
"Does anyone recognize those bodies? Are they still inhabited?"
Sickly
|
We don't have enough information to do anything, do we? Not sure what the collaborative part is here.
Are there any knowledge checks or the like that can help us?
Sickly looks at the strange metal device with concern.
"Is that supposed to be there?" he mutters, uncertainly.
Any way to ID it? Where exactly are we trying to go, can we just go around?
Auric Voralius
|
I see two things: I could try to disable it, or to UMD it to become its master. I'll try the first one since Auric isn't one to play with fire and will prefer a safer outcome any day.
Auric approaches the device with the clear intent to disable the artifact.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 22 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 22 + 2 = 29 If it isn't enough I'll use timely inspiration to get an additional +1
Aikio the Red
|
"That's the Boneeater's contraption isn't it?" The tengu looks at it askance. "How do we shut it down?"
RE-activate? Don'the we want to turn it off or is it a defense mechanism of the tower? Unless it's a defense I suggest moving on & shut it down later. Finding/stopping Eater of Bones is our mission.
EDIT:
Aikio offers whatever aid she can to the Chelaxian. ??: 1d20 ⇒ 5 (+14 Spellcraft, +9 UMD, +8 most Knowledges)
| GM FedoraFerret |
I totally meant deactivate it :x
Auric manages to get to the cage, and finds some kind of trigger on the side of the cage. He activates it, and there cage makes some kind of noise, but it doesn't stop.
Based on Aikio's keen eye and knowledge of magic, she deduces that there are two more triggers to find and activate, that they need time to operate before the next one can be activated, and that a screwup could be bad.
In the course of their work, both Aikio and Auric are narrowly missed by tendrils of energy.
Need actions from the other four, then y'all can carry on. In plain english, what Aikio figured out is that you can only get one successful disable device check per round. If multiple people attempt, then I'll consider the highest number your total and everything else an Aid Another. Unless of course there's a natural 1. Mwahaha.
Ariana-Fighter
|
Ariana usually disables things with her sword. She'll try to move to the other side of the contraptionand stand guard.
On phone now, but I didn't want to hold things up. I'll move later today assuming there is a map.
Ariana-Fighter

Ariana usually disables things with her sword. this does not look like one of those situations. She'll try to move to the other side of the contraptionand stand guard.
On phone now, but I didn't want to hold things up. I'll move later today assuming there is a map.
Sickly
|
Ah, De vs Re ... bit of a difference! =)
Sickly looks miserably at the situation, and the lashing ethereal tendrils, clearly not wanting to go in there at all.
His eyes go wide as Auric goes in, seemingly unconcerned and starts trying to work the contraption to hopefully shut it down.
Gulping noticeably, he rushes in after the archeologist, not wanting to appear like he doesn't want to help out.
Hrmm... are we assisting Auric or working the other triggers?
Either case, Sickly will attempt to disable things as well...
He quickly produces some tools and starts working on one of the other triggers, a low moan emitting from him the entire time.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21
About halfway through, he starts to scratch periodically at a rash forming along the left side of his neck, after one of the tendrils lashed by a little to closely.
Kishara on the 3rd one then?
Brewslee Haiiya
|
Brewslee stumbles forward and tries to hold his eyes open wide. Thish ain't good. Anyone of yoush got any ideash how to shut down all thish noishe?
No disable device here.
Kishara
|
Following the example of her fellows, Kishara moves in careful to avoid the reaching tendrils and quickly gets to work and does what she can to shut the thing down.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Aikio the Red
|
Aikio's eyes widen at the ease which the human takes her turn at the device, "Well done Kishara. Sickly and Auric were impressive too. Shiny job one and all."
Aikio the Red
|
"Keep going! Keep going!"
The wizard shouts as she moves to Sickly and hits him with a wand. "Watch out for those tendrils."
Nah, we're just optimistic that one could get the DC themselves. (Edit: Sickly asked for clarification above). Can non-trained checks also aid? (Though if that is'nt what I missed, maybe I do :).
UMD: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24, CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Sickly
|
Ya, I saw that, but descriptively, it works as each working on a separate one for 3 rounds too =)
Does DR apply to this damage? And is it a spell or spell-like effect?
Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Are the tendrils just a danger for folks trying to disable the thing? Or anyone in the area? Perhaps folks should stay back if its the later?
Sickly
|
Hmm...Actually, I think I'll go with 'he did something wrong!' =)
Sickly works furiously on the contraption, only partly sure what he's doing. As the tendrils whip out and brush against his skin, he lets out a low moan of pain, as his eyes start to tear up, and the rash gets worse.
"I didn't mean to..." he mutters, sure that he caused it somehow.
He suddenly feels totally out of his element, as he tries to continue to assist the more capable Auric and Kishara. But now he's sure that he's making things worse and starts to panic a little.
Disable Device Aid: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
Aid another for one of the others, who actually have some skill at this .... his total's going down... =)
Kishara
|
Y'all need reading comprehension.
The tendrils continue to lash out, but only manage to strike Sickly as the rest flail about wildly.
Sickly takes 9 damage, DC 15 fortitude for half
??? You did say you would take the highest roll and the rest would act as aid... Did we do something wrong? Is there something else we can be doing?
Sickly
|
Based on what the GM said earlier, I think there just randomly swinging about at anything nearby... Sickly just got the short end of the random die roll =)
Not related to our attempts to disable it (other than we have to stand still to do so, so have a higher chance to get hit)
(Sickly's just blaming himself for RP reasons!)
2 more rounds to go!
Kishara
|
I was mostly questioning the "reading comprehension" comment, not your post, Sickly. Ok, continuing with the disable freaky device plan since there doesn't seem to be a better option... or even a new map.
Kish continues to work on the switch, trying desperately to stop the machine from breaching reality or whatever it was doing.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Auric Voralius
|
Yeah, same as Kish - but nevermind, let's continue our work here!
Auric takes his time and tries to regain total control of his body, ignoring the inherant fear of the cage. His gestures are precise, each aimed at disabling the contraption.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42 Not counting aids!
Ariana-Fighter
|
I shall continue to stand here and look menacing. Waiting for anything that might come into the room that isn't an ally.
No disable device for me.
Aikio the Red
|
I shall continue to stand here and look menacing.
"Ariana, don't just stand there! Keep moving! You might get lashed!" Aikio moves back out and activates the wand on herself.
:P
2nd UMD: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14, CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5Fail!
Can non-trained checks also aid?
Or other skills maybe?
