Of course, Nat! I'm trying to find ways to incorporate everyone's backstory into the game somehow. Some will show up a little slower and less dramatic fashion, but Art's was definitely the most obvious for me as there was already a halfling NPC written in so I replaced him with Tommy and made some tweaks as necessary!

I understand, I'm running 2 different games on the Against the Shadow forums and for nearly the last 2 months I kept stringing my players along with "I'm still here guys, I've just been busy with finals/holiday stuff." Or "Almost ready to start again." Then I just lacked motivation for the next two weeks.

Finally started both games back up as of last night.

Hopefully Faelyn will do the same soon.

Hey guys, I'm very, very sorry on the delay in my two games. There's been a lot going on with the weather recently and some issues on the homefront. It's the head that does it, most Halberds I've seen in use have been held at about the halfway point, so they wouldn't be so long as to justify reach in game I guess.
Plus that way, you can swing it around and attack with the butt as well.
Never held one myself, but seen a few re-enactments.

Oh yeah, I forgot Art's wisdom was still damaged. Sorry it's been a while since that came up. Restoring you back to a less insane or delusional version of yourself may be a better use of that.

So, I've decided to change up some of the personalities that the module presents for some of the named kobold NPCs. They make them seem so... ignorant. Like this Kerrdremak for example, it's hinted that he's somewhat of an elder that is placed in charge of a fairly large group of kobold warriors to scout the upper passageways of the Crucible and that he is likely one of the elder, more experienced members of the tribe. Yet, the way he is presented is some lickspittle, overly eager coward that does not outright present regicide to his warriors. I just don't get that vibe from what I imagine to be a cunning, older member that has been given a pretty substantial position in protecting his people.

Also, I'm going back through to make sure I don't have any more of those weird situations with the ghouls. I was trying to come up with a reason they would be in that room when the kids and Tommy rushed through it lol. It didn't occur to me until right as I was setting up the encounter.

What was the reason for the ghouls being there? I didn't catch the explanation.

Out of character... since you guys didn't really investigate the occurrence, but the ghouls were undead dwarves had been locked inside one of the cells for a very, very long time. The kobolds would just routinely avoid that room and use the room where Zirren currently stands. During the insanity of the prisoners escape, one of the more idiotic kobolds (who was not aware of the ghoul's existence) decided to open the cage to see if perhaps the unmoving lumps in the cage was one of the prisoners... lol

Alright, that worked out.

At this point, Zirren is interested in learning a few more things about the deeper levels of Droskar's Crucible and the enemies they'll face ahead. But other than that, he's good to go.

But I suppose the big question is, was securing that alliance enough to have us level up?

The only thing we do know for sure is that the demon has one. Though we don't necessarily know where it is.

The other one was recaptured by the Kobolds and is almost certainly held below.

Can Paladins use Cure wands before they get access to a spell list? How's that work?

Yes, you can use the wand. In the spell trigger description which is listed for magic items, it even specifically calls out that casting would work for 3rd level Paladins who can't yet cast spells.
It is also a listed under the wand section of magic items that they use the Spell trigger activation ability.

Basically as long as the class has the ability to cast the spell, they can use the spell trigger item.

And yes, I could with Zirren’s explanation as well. Spell trigger items are good to go for all 4th level casters.

So... the more I read about Pathfinder 2E, the less I'm liking it. Not a fan of goblins suddenly becoming a Core race without a better explanation than the one presented in the Blog post, plus I really am not digging the four levels of Failure/Success, not the Condition levels. They are becoming EXTREMELY rules/number heavy from what I can tell.

I was hoping to pitch an idea for a campaign to start with the Playtest rules for PF2E and offering anyone in my two games a guaranteed spot if anyone wanted to join; however, I've recently picked up the D&D5E rules and have really started to enjoy the simplicity that WotC came up with and the older school feel of the game. (Plus I've recently become hooked on Critical Role and that might be part of what's fueling this desire.) Anyway, I have an idea in mind of building the base campaign alongside the players (I have a very solid, beautiful map to use) by allowing anyone participating to come up with the ideas, names, locations, and history of the area from where they come. I haven't come up with any solid plan other than doing a little sandbox action. Would any of you be interested in such a venture?

You should be able to attack from your current position, and then you could 5-ft step away.

So I hate to be that guy, but doesn't the concealment from the smoke actually protect the hell-hound from Bella's sneak attack?
