Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

The party fades from their assault, fearful that the effects of curse and blindness will prevent success. You quietly exit the sepulcher walking up the long spiral staircase above and back out into the light. The stairwell rises behind you, closing off the secret lair once again.

You rush through the Necropolis, guiding Benedictus as fast as he can go without sight. Not terribly fast as it turns out because the roads and paths are replete with rubble, sand drifts, and the like - ready to trip up an unaware traveller.

Almost as if it senses your weakness, the Necropolis seems to hedge in on you. A couple encounters with zombies, and one with a huecuva you managed to get the drop on, the heretical cleric eating a bit of the flesh of a fresh zombie it bested as you arrived.

You make it back to the tunnels, and having a better sense of where you’re trying to go this time, you make it out through to the brickworks quickly and without incident. The Pharasman guards remain at this entrance, and you can see the piled bodies of a handful of skeletons and zombies who also found this route out of the Necropolis.

You reach the church just after mid-day and are quickly escorted into Ptemenib’s small office. He greets you warmly, happy to see you all are well. ”How is it going? What have you discovered? How may I help?” he inquires eagerly, looking for a way to turn the tide.

Prof. Benedictus Dickens wrote:
"The Gods have a plan for us, I am sure of it. What if we were the one designed to end this? What if this was our precise responsibility?"

Zilchus seems surprised that Ben is speaking to him after the Professor's long silence.

"You think we're especially blessed by the Gods, Ben? I know *a* god that favors me," Zilch notes the green crocodile icon he wears. "But I really doubt that *gods* plural are blessing us. Because right now I feel anything but blessed. I feel like ass."

Zilchus ponders for a moment, then continues.

"And I'm pretty sure this all is the responsibility of the Pharasmooks. They are responsible for the undead. They have one job, Ben."

Despite his grumpy tone, Zilchus takes gentle care with the blind Ben as he leads the Professor back to the city.

Although she had been on the verge of making the connection herself, Ben's words suddenly cause everything - everything she'd experienced since that night she'd fallen asleep in her family's shop - to fall into place.

Of course. This is it. THIS IS IT! This is why I'm still here!

With the realization comes a surge of feeling, a newfound sense of purpose. She grabs for it as a drowning man might grab for a rescuer's hand and latches on for dear life. Her eyes blaze with a fierceness that she hadn't felt in ages.

"Yes, you're right Ben! It's our responsibility to try and put things right again," she agrees, reaching out to squeeze his hand, shaking it emphatically.

My responsibility.

"And I'm with you. Me and Bynx, to the end," Florence says as she lets go of his hand, taking no mind of Zilchus' harsh words about the Pharasmooks. "Come on, let's get back to Wati - the folks at the temple will want to know about this! And maybe they can tell us more about this Forgotten Pharaoh."
_______

Once they've safely made it back to the temple and rush into Ptemenib's office, Florence simply takes the documents that they'd found and slaps them down on the desk. "Read these. Right now. You'll see part of why we rushed back here as quickly as we did."

She gives him a few minutes to read the documents, waiting to see how he might react to what they'd found. "You see? We found these after putting down a bunch of skeletons and this deranged severed head. It sounds crazy but we really think this is a big threat and it explains what we found - and didn't find - when we were exploring the Temple of Nethys. And we ran into some of these people wearing those golden masks, too - I think they belonged to this Cult of Forgotten Pharaoh. It all makes sense now!"

Aww, we killed the head? :(

Nidhi stares at the blind Ben, intrigued by his heroic speech. Nidhi is relieved it’s not her who’s been blinded. ”Back to Wati then?” Nidhi tilts her head.

In Ptemnib’s office, Nidhi nods ”of course this is our fate. Pharasma’s fate be kind!” Nidhi falters to glace at blind Ben, ”Err, mostly… But we aren’t here unless we are supposed to be – which we are – because we are here.” Nidhi finishes ungracefully. I hope Ben can get his sight back.

Nidhi lets Florance fill Ptemnib in on their discovery.

To Ben, Cahal shrugs, which the blind arcanist can't see, and says flatly: "I'll kill those who try to harm the ones I love."

As they leave the place, she's too busy killing undeads to think too much. Once at the gate, she relaxes a bit, wondering what they had just found on their escapade.

Trouble, certainly. They were in pretty bad shape. A fancy mercantile dragon, but not much in terms of the mask, though they now knew it was likely in the hands of a madman with granny issues...

"Sh!t..." she muses.

Ptemenib listens carefully, and even makes a few notes as you relate your tale. As you express your needs, he reacts immediately, casting Remove Curse on Zilchus and using a scroll of Remove Blindness on Benedictus. ”It sounds like you’ve found something significant! Do you think the perpetrator, this Nebta-Khufre, is still in there?” he worries, though there's an undercurrent of excitement.

Inactive; Campaign Concluded

"Probably," Florence sighs. "We wanted to get back as quick as we could so we didn't investigate the rest of the complex. You think we'd better go back?"

Zilchus smiles as one of his curses is lifted, thanking Ptemenib for the service.

”It was a nasty, nasty head...prone to tongue lashes and verbal barrages. Had a voice so greeting that even the undead were moved by it,” Zilchus adds color to the description.

”So yeah...Ptemenib, you definitely have a mask problem here in the city and these notes prove it. Not sure what your options are for solving the issue...but there sure are a lot of them being raised by the Mask.”

”As for Nebba-Coffee? I dunno. They still might be around if there are so many undead arose and arisen about. So probably.”

While they chat, Zilchus will fiddle-faddle with the +1 buckler a bit. He’s trying to decide if it will help him or not.

Neutral Human Bard/14

Nidhi is relieved her companions are willing to return to the masks' hideout. Otherwise, Wati would certainly be doomed. "I don't think I can speak of our glorious heroism until we fully explore that place... but for tonight, let's eat and take a well-deserved rest." Nidhi tilts her head and places a hand on her hip, "Ptemenib, can you cure Ben's sight?"

Ben's sight was restored by Ptemenib during the storytelling.

"You're not returning now, or possibly at all?" Ptemenib looks distressed, but after some thought seems to come to a resolution. "Well, no. I suppose you've done enough - more than enough. In fact I thank you for your service - the church thanks you!"

He gets up and shakes each of your hands firmly with a smile on his lips and clear appreciation in his heart.

He sits back down and looks at the mess on his desk. "I really cannot be spared, but I suppose I'll pry away a few brave souls and head down there myself. I'll confront this evil man, and save the city. Some may perish with my absence, but to vanquish the greater evil and stem the tide!" he looks up to the party, "That's worth it don't you think?"

He looks a little nervous, but looks determined.

BEFORE…

Feeling Florence’s hands shaking his own causes Ben to stiffen. The scholar tries not to betray his feelings, but the trembling of his hand gives him away.

Florence Corvina wrote:
"And I'm with you. Me and Bynx, to the end,"

Ben swallows, feeling his heart pounding out of its anatomically correct place.

Stop acting like a teenager, Ben. Otherwise you will surely do something…something…

STUPID!

Ben would have widened his eyes were he not blinded. The word just came out of his mouth and, as everyone who knew him well enough would expect from him, Ben ended up ruining everything by saying something terribly…

STUPID! Stupid? Are you serious, Ben? Oh gods, how am I going to get out of this now? She’s going to think I deem HER stupid!

I mean…I was so stupid not to realize it before! It all makes sense!

Hoping to have at least saved his reputation with the others, Ben slowly retreats his shaking hand and smiles.

Yes, let’s go…

LATER, WITH PTEMENIB

Ben lets his companions handle much of the explanation. Being blinded caused him to feel insecure in his other skills as well, including his oratory.

It’s just as Aristotlion said. Men are especially dependant upon sight. When they cannot see, they are deprived of their certainties…That’s why we feel so insecure in the dark, and that’s why we fear what we cannot see…

These are Ben’s thoughts while Ptemenib uses his scroll to remove his blindness.

Thank you, Ptemenib. I owe you one, my friends,” immediately says Ben after regaining his sight. A simple but genuine bow accompanies his words.

I think they might be still there. And I'm going there with you Ptemenib, count on it! Let's give it all we've got, OK?" he says to his companions, trying to encourage them to action.

Prof. Benedictus Dickens wrote:
"STUPID!"

Florence blinks, startled by Ben's outburst. But then she suddenly laughs, a genuine laugh but one that also seems to be tinged with an odd mixture of relief and hysteria.

"Haha! You're right, I guess most people would say that it's a stupid idea," she admits, still chuckling as she wipes at her eyes. "But why not? Even if you aren't worried about all the destruction this Mask and these masked goons might cause, what else do most of us really have to do?"
_______

Present

"Yeah...um, I can understand it if Nidhi or Cahal would rather sit the rest of this out," Florence admits. "You too, Zilchus. But I've still got a few tricks left up my sleeve for today and I'd rather not let Ptemenib and Ben here go alone. Who knows who or what else is lurking down there?"

"Ptemenib, is there nothing else you can add to what we have learned? Do the Pharasmoo--, ahem, Pharasmins have any stores of knowledge about the Mask or how we might combat it?" Zilchus asks, still uncertain about going back today or tomorrow.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

Ptemenib is pleased by the offers of support, though he still looks uneasy. He looks to the others to declare their intentions when Zilchus asks a good question.

"Good question. I have never heard of such a mask, but I'll make inquiries for you and see what is known around here. It'll be easier if we can examine the mask though." he suggests hopefully.

Zilchus returns to an earlier point Ptemenib has made.

"So...if we don't go back and look for the Mask, you intend to round up some good men and go looking for it?" Zilchus says dubiously. "Is that the best solution the Pharasmoo--ahem, the Pharasmins have?"

"You know where the mask is, and if you do not with to return now, yes - I do think someone has to. We must stop the flow of undead, and then deal with the undead already created. This is a huge window of opportunity - I'll not see it close."

"Do you have some better suggestion? I get the feeling you do not like the way I'm handling things. I have no problem with criticism. This is a tough time, and we're all managing with what we have, but if you have better ideas, I'd love to have them!" he says with great sincerity.

"I'd rather not be the one to go, as you have already saved me once this week," he says with a wide grin, "I clearly have no skills for this, but someone must go I feel and, well, the buck stops here with this project."

Cahal glares at Zilchus, but instead of addressing the problem, she prefer to speak for herself: "We set out to find that mask. We used the compass, yes, and we found things, BUT WE HAVEN'T FOUND THE MASK. That is what I said I would do, and that is what I will do. Until we have the mask, the whole town may get rampaged by some horde of skeletons. If I'm not doing anything about it, I may as well get my family to a safer place, and, YES, we all agreed that there was no such place nearby and that it was better to fight this than flee it, AND I AGREED. So let's gather our strength back and continue searching, yes?"

Inactive; Campaign Concluded

"And it's pretty clear from the writings that this Nebta-Khufre guy probably still has the mask," Florence points out. "And those other masked people were probably this Cult come to try and claim it for themselves. I really don't think we want them to have it either; I didn't think of that at first or I wouldn't have asked the dumb question about whether we should go back or not," she admits a little sheepishly.

Similar to when hearing Ben's lengthy explanations, Nidhi's attention span starts to slip. Nidhi's eyes glaze over as the party discusses what to do with Ptemenib. Flatbread and honey. A nice warm bath. Grandma's threadbare chaise longue. It's only Cahal's voice that pulls Nidhi out of her daydreams.

Nidhi straightens to Cahal's voice and wipes some drool off the corner of her mouth. "I agree! Let's gather our strength then head back. I need to refresh my spells... Eight hour break?"

Nidhi tilts her head, "I think you are best to stay here, Ptemenib. Wati needs your guidance." Nidhi eyes the man critically. He doesn't have the muscles for this sort of thing either.

Nidhi fluffs a throw pillow in Ptemenib's office before resting her head on it, intending to sleep (right here and now if her companions continue the conversation with Ptemenib.)

Nidhi Aashirya wrote:

Zilchus reluctantly agrees to return, seeing as the others would probably die terribly without him. He also acknowledges the need to replenish the team's magics as the one fight was particularly brutal.

"Stay at your desk, Ptemenib. We'll give this another go, apparently."

Zilchus is ready to rest and return.

"You all know what we're going to face. If we need anything else now, let's buy it now. Another scroll or two of Remove Curse? Disease? Daylight? What could we need?"

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

Ptenemib looks at the party in frank appreciation. ”Wow, you lot are wonderful. True hero’s of Wati!”

”Yes, yes, what do you need? I’ll see what I can do to acquire it, and get it quickly. You may yet have the element of surprise. I suspect they don’t move around much, being in hiding. What do you need?”

”Weren’t you guys fussing about darkness?” mumbles Cahal, though she’s obviously happy that they seem to have a plan.

Nidhi has managed to fall asleep on a couch in Ptemenib's office. Her head rests comfortably on a throw pillow. She doesn't snore.

"Yes, we had planned to buy some things to deal with darkness effects so we should pick them up for sure while we're here," Florence nods quickly. "Scrolls to remove curses or diseases would probably be a good idea, too. For what it's worth, I believe that the remedies I sometimes brew would be able to cure blindness if it happens to strike again - oh, and I should be able to remove curses with my magic now! But I'd have to plan for that, so it'd mean I wouldn't be able to prepare a different spell that might be more useful in a fight or something."

She shrugs. "I'll prepare however we seem to think would be best," she says, glancing at the snoring Nidhi with bemusement.

She worries about garlic and strange conspiracies but doesn't seem worried at all that there's a soul-holding mask out there that people are keen to do all kinds of bad things with! I'll never understand her...

Cahal shrugs: ”So you’ll be busy. I need to rest... And eat after.” she says and sets down on the floor at Nidhi’s feet, the way a dog would. A minute later, taken by her near death experience, she is passed out and snoaring.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

hehehe, love all the sleeping, but I'm a bit confused.

Ptemenib feels someone must act quickly. A little shopping aside he hopes you'll return now, not in 8 hours.

As for shopping, he can arrange any scrolls or potions you may wish, but you will need to pay for them. He didn't charge for his casting, or the burn of his personal scroll, but he can't finance everything... though he is making sure you pay regular rates, no price hikes.

So let me know your planned purchases (which can come from group funds - you've almost 4kgp worth of stuff to sell I think) and let me know if you're going back now, or plan to leave in 8-9 hours after rest and preparation.

Ben puts a gentle hand on Nidhi's shoulder.

Strange. Doing this on her does not cause any embarassment in me.

From the very start, Ben always looked at Nidhi as his little sister. Of course that was a silly idea, an unmotivated association of ideas, but that was something he instinctively felt, and still feels.

"Nidhi, you must stay strong."

Ben smiles at his friend, then ensues.

"I've used many spells as well for today, and I perfectly understand your doubts, but...Delaying so much our mission might mean we miss a precious opportunity."

Ben voice is firm and clear, as though the shy and insecure guy everyone knows in the group never existed. That blind intuition about their fate, the touch of Florence's hand, the stubborn determination of Zilchus and Cahal's commitment to the safety of her family, all that changed him.

"Listen," he ensues, turning to the others and releasing his hand from Nidhi's shoulder, "we have a few valuable things we could sell in order to purchase some scrolls from me and Nidhi. And we should also buy at least a few potions of darkvision."
______________________
I suggest we spend part of the party funds to buy 2 potions of darkvision. Ben would also like to purchase (with own money, of course) a scroll of summon monster III and a scroll of fireball (750 gp total). GM, I would also like to know if there are any partially charged wands at the shop close by. Ben might be interested, because they're usually more affordable than fully charged ones.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Would prefer an oil of daylight to potions of darkvision...and the latter are useless vs. deeper darkness. +1 to buying scroll remove curse and disease, per Florence. I'll put the costs in Discussion.

Seems like we have three who want to rest. And if Ptemenib wants to go in with his 'team' before then, well, that's his choice.

Zilchus kicks Nidhi and Cahal awake.

"C'mon, we can't sleep here. Let's get to Milki's and rest there," Zilchus says only somewhat tenderly.

"It would be good if you all bought more consumables so that we didn't use all your spells in one fight...so that you might last longer," Zilchus opines. "There are many resources that could help with that: scroll and wands."

Zilchus will go report and rest, eager to return after a rest.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

As Zilchus says, there are three for resting, so resting it is...

Ptemenib looks a little uneasy, but manages a smile, ”You go and rest, I’m sure there will be important projects tomorrow. I’ll assemble another team to join me in the Necropolis. Before you go, show me exactly where you found the secret stairwell, and teach me how to open it.” he breaks out a Necropolis map and listens carefully to instruction.

After departing, the party heads to Milki to sell the goods and acquire whatever you need for the morrow.

There are a handful of items unclaimed on the treasure sheet including the ushabti of the willing servant, a gift. You’re pretty sure though that the gift can be sold without the rancor of the giver, considering the circumstances. :)

As the party heads out of the temple and off to Milki, Florence ponders what sorts of supplies she would be best served by purchasing and which spells to ready in the morning.

"Whatever we do, we'll need to be sure to be prepared - really prepared, because who knows what we might be walking into tomorrow," she advises. "I think I'll pick up some more alchemical supplies...maybe a wand like what Ben mentioned, if there's anything for sale that seems like it might be handy."

Cahal grumbles something mean but unintelligible at Zilchus as she gets up: "Oh, I'm fine with going back right away. I just take a rest when one is offered, but I can push on if that is what is needed. I thought our scholarly type needed their beauty rest..?"

Can I assume the Pharasmins brought me back to full hp?

Neutral Human Bard/14

Ben's gentle touch doesn't wake her, but Zilchus' kick does. Nidhi falls off of the sofa with an "oof." Groggily, Nidhi stands, complaining "I've had a really stressful morning! I'm useless without my beauty sleep! My throat is starting to feel sore! I'm hungry! Why, Pharasma, why must my fate include all of these things?"

"Are there scrolls of sleep? Can we just put the grandma hater to sleep? Tie him up, bring him back here for trial?"

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

Totally Cahal. If Ptemenib notices you're injured, he'll cast a cure light in your direction.

CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

He adds, responding to Nidhi, "Well there's a chance it won't work, but you can certainly give it a try. I can get you such a scroll if you like."

When the party reaches Milki, they find Abdur, and a handful of others, on guard as usual. He greets you warmly and invites you in for a late lunch.

"So, you look well, how is it going. Is there something you need?" he inquires, ready to help.

"Sleep! Beauty sleep if possible..." says Cahal with a grin towards her companions.

"Well, that and we'd also like to do a little selling and buying," Florence adds. "We've found some nice things but they're things that aren't much use to us: some gems and jewelry, an enchanted buckler, an enchanted sickle, and an enchanted set of leathers. The enchantments are basic but still valuable enough to the right people. What do you think?" she asks as they produce the goods they've decided to sell.

I'm also in favor of selling the Ushabti if everyone else is.

Zilchus is happy to sell the Ushabti.

Zilchus is ready to rest, buying nothing new at this time. He will be anxious to get going in the morning.

Ben is unhappy with the choice, and finds somehow frustrating the fact that Ptemenib ignores his offer of help and decides to build another team without him. The scholar has had enough of polemizing however, and not wanting to argue with the Pharasmin, decides to drop the matter for now.

Quite silent during the trip to Milki, he nods to Zilchus' suggestion to buy an oil of daylight instead of potions of darkvision, but insists that two or more are bought.

Once at Milki, Benedictus smiles with a tired expression at Abdur, but carefully avoids to give too many information to the man. Not that he does not trust old Abdur; it's just that Ben fears that those information could result quite a dangerous possession in the times to come, and he wants to spare Abdur from further troubles.

***

While the others spend the whole afternoon and night resting and shopping, Benedictus has a precise plan for the next day. He locks himself inside his room at Milki, takes all his books of the shelves and dedicates the whole afternoon to intensive study, in order to concentrate and also to relax himself after a stressful day.

***

If before going to bed, most likely after dinner, Ben gets the chance to see Nidhi, he tries to convince her to follow him somewhere they can speak privately: perhaps outside Milki, considering the situation, or in Ben's room.

Nidhi:
Ben seems a bit anxious, but eventually manages to sit and talk. "I'll get straight to the point, Nidhi. I...I need to know what you women find attractive in a man, if there's such an universal formula. I can pierce the veil of historical mysteryes, penetrate the deepest arcanas of wizardry, but I cannot understand women, yet. And I suppose that this is precisely the reason why I want to understand them so bad: I can't resist the charm of what I don't know. So tell me: is there something you women appreciate in a man? I know I can't be as strong as Zilchus, but there must be something else apart from physical prowess...Please, give me a tip! I...I'm so bad at this, you know...And I feel so clumsy everytime I...But I suppose you noticed it countless times already."

______________
Let's sell the Ushabti then.

Ben will use the afternoon to scribe a scroll of summon monster III using his Scribe Scroll feat, thus halving its cost (375 gp). He will also write down all the details of the story he has learned into his book.

Down with ushabtis!

Cahal settles once more to rest, though she stays awake, watching with fascination the comings and goings, and the debatings and negotiatings taking place to find the right tool for this job.

She thinks of the Forgotten Pharaoh and wonders if he would still feel a knee between the legs... The thought makes her smile, and she falls asleep, exhausted from the fight.

Benedictus - remember there is no inn at Milki, it's merely a neighborhood pub and shop. You have rooms at the Tooth and Hookah part way across town. Presumably your rooms are still available. However, I anticipate you have a pile of things here with Abdur, so no need to alter the intent of your post. :) You'll find a stool and small end table on which to work. 1500 gp 2 Oils of Daylight
750 gp Scroll of Remove Curse & Remove Disease
40 gp 2 sunrods (Florence and Nidhi

After those purchases, the each of you receive 839gp to spend as you will.

After the rest, Zilchus rouses the party and gets them moving. Not tolerating any guff or delays in his rush to get back. He delays only to thank Abdur for his help in getting the gear together.

"Let's get back. And let's be more careful in rushing into more ambushes."

Nidhi’s private conversation with Ben:
Nidhi grasps Ben’s hands, Comrad! I too, am suffering from a similar affliction. My heart is brimming with affection with no outlet.” Nidhi dramatically raises the back on her hand to her forehead. ”I am hopelessly – deeply in love with Cahal but she doesn’t even spare me a glance… but then, I think to myself: am I really willing to always come second to her daughter?” Nidhi frowns, ”No. I am a passionate lover Ben. If I was the River Sphinx, my love would overflow and drown all of Wati and Tephu.” Dramatically, Nidhi declares: ”I can never be second to someone’s heart.”

”Your lack of muscles put you at a disadvantage for sure. Maybe you can accidentally trip and fall into a woman’s arms?” Aside and more to herself than Ben, Nidhi says: ”Although, that hasn’t really worked with Cahal.” Nidhi tilts her head, ”What if you give women flowers? Or food. I love eating! Who doesn’t?!” Nidhi looks optimistically at Ben, as if she’s just given the best advice in the world.

Nidhi rises and adorns herself with all of her new jewelry. I look so pretty now~! Nidhi admires herself in the mirror after washing her face and hands.

Nidhi:
"Uhm...Flowers? Food? Uhm...That...That is a brillant advice, thanks Nidhi!" Ben seems very excited, as though Nidhi just gave him the best tip in the world. "Thank you, Nidhi! Thank you so much!" the scholar says with a radiant smile.

"And I think you're right, as far as Cahal is concerned...although your metaphor is touching, and I think you'd deserve more than she could possibly offer, considering the love she has for her daughter..."

"I'm ready to go. Let's hope we didn't miss them..."

Ben has been preparing for the day as best as he could, and now is ready to continue the mission.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

The party rises early and readies themselves for a new day - Sunday, 15 Sarenith, 4714. You enter as before through the secret tunnels and under the wall to the Necropolis. Perhaps you check the elegiac compass, but it continues to point in the same line with nary a waver.

You return to the Pharasmin symbol on the floor, and activate the hidden staircase down. You return to the prior rooms to find the zombies all destroyed (presumably by Ptemenib and his team). The woman’s body has been removed from the next room, though the skeletal remains remain - as does grandma’s head, forever destroyed.

Where do you go from here?

Having returned, Zilchus is pleased to find not to many things disturbed.

"Doesn't look like Ptemenib made it back before us. Good, good," Zilchus notes. "Let's try this door."

Moved Z on map.

1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30 Perception

Zilchus examines the door, then opens it when people are ready.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

The party lines up and Zilchus opens the door.

The walls of this burial chamber are lined with stone biers, each holding an open sarcophagus engraved with spirals and flying night birds. Three large stone tables hold piles of books, dried food, statuettes, and other offerings to those resting here. You see signs of a battle as well. Apparently several of the corpses rose up… and were beaten down. All is quiet now.

"This place... This is where they lived, I guess, no? Did we figure what the woman with mask was doing there? She did not seem particularly on the same page as the granny's head in a cage, no?"

"In any case. You search while I keep an eye out for trouble. We still need to find granny's loving grandson..."

Zilchus checks out the tracks before letting anyone in. Seeing the signs of battle he tries to determine who the winners might have been, what weapons they might have used, and how many there were.

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 Survival
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Heal

"Flo? Nidhi? Have any idea what killed these things?" Zilchus asks once he has checked out the entry. He moves in with falchion in hand, casting Light as needed.

1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19 Survival

Neutral Human Bard/14

Nidhi tries to look over Zilchus' shoulder. "Is everything dead in there?"

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
