Harada "The Hammer" |
Harada comments "I know a little about engineering, but small mechanical devices have never been a skill of mine, expect for that clock I broke..." Harada's voice trails off as he realized he's started babbling.

Harada comments "See this order size here, you wouldn't even need half that many bricks. Either those walls are twice as thick, or twice as high as the plans list, or somebody built something else with half those supplies."

To Grel he asks,"Obscured how? I may be able to fix it."
Grel Veldgott |
To Verathis, It's obviously been tampered with. Some erasure, perhaps. The magic of the earth is unable to restore it. Perhaps you can do something about it?

"Tampered with? Why, not that I know of. They are quite old, though, and something very well could have happened before my time." She seems to be telling the truth.
GM Dennis |
"Thank you. I am looking for information on the Sarinis family, information on the area around there estate, And anything you have on demons. Accounts of demon sightings by locals around the time of the Sarinis family would be particularly helpful."
"What was the third thing? Oh right, demons. There are no records, or honestly even any rumors that I can find, tying the Sarinis to any demons. As is common for Chelaxians, they were much more closely tied, by rumor at least, to devils. Now, there aren't any actual records connecting them to diabolism at all, but I did find some cryptic references that might interest you."
GM Dennis |
Any other questions? Or want to go ask around town?
Grel Veldgott |
I think that is all for now. We can definitely expect demons and undead. Remember your cold iron. Grel checks over his pack for his level of preparedness.

"Now that we know what we are up against, I should pick up either a cold iron weapon, or a weapon blanch. Do you know of any good shops in town where I could find one of these?"
Meiri |
At the store, Meiri looks for any of the following that might be available:
cold iron masterwork rapier
cold iron rapier
cold iron dagger (either masterwork or not)
cold iron weapon blanch (2 or 3 uses)
Are any of these available?
Do any of you remember the FAQ not too long ago that related to the cost of a special materials weapon? I only half remember it, but it would have even made some item cost in the CRB wrong.
GM Dennis |
Any of those are available. If this was the FAQ you're referring to, it was mostly about size multipliers, but it specifies that you double the cost for cold iron before adding the masterwork cost, if that's what you're getting at.
GM Dennis |
You can do any shopping you'd like. Would you like to spend time asking around town trying to gather information, or would you rather head straight to the estate?
Meiri |
Meiri buys a masterwork shortbow and 50 cold iron arrows. I'm assuming that for the 'wave cold iron at it' things she can hold an arrow in her hand.
She also shows her new teammates her emergency healing. CLW extract; can only be used on her, but would be effective if fed to her by someone else
"Can any of you use healing wands? I have one, but am unable to use it."
GM Dennis |
You set out of town along a road that is part of the trails known colloquially as the Conerica Paths, specifically upon one known as Nobles’ Folly. Several hours into your ten-mile journey, as the sun is sinking low in the afternoon sky, you come around a bend to a wide spot in the road. Some sixty feet ahead, a villager is lying curled on the ground, his hands shielding his face from two ugly, blue-skinned creatures with oversized, wrinkly heads. Two centipedes, each as big as a large man hiss menacingly at the desperate, shaking villager, their mandibles oozing with venom. The monsters are covered in a greasy, purplish goo that seems to be growing from their very skin!

Harada moves forward and squishes one of the centipedes with one mighty swing, sending hemolymph squirting over the battlefield.
Grel follows, ready to follow up on the attack, but seeing the creature destroyed instead steps into its space and attacks the nearest mite, badly wounding it. I adjusted to account for Harada destroying your target. It's the same amount of movement, so you should be able to reach it, and it hadn't acted yet so no AoO getting there. Hope you don't mind.
Verathis, do you want to change your action, knowing that these things are resistant to spells? If you'd like to keep your action as written, please roll me a caster-level check vs. SR. Also, Ink doesn't have a charge lane (there are allies and a tree between you and the mites). He can move up and attack, but you would not get the charge bonus. Would you like to change his action as well?
Carson and Meiri may act (I'll bot Meiri once everyone else has acted, if Redelia hasn't posted by then.
Ink Adrazek |
Ink will walk up and attack.
(figurative) Charge!: 1d20 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 3 + 2 = 9 I didn't know if you wanted a new roll entirely or just new addition.If its the later He gets 4 + 1 + 3 + 2 for a total of 10.

Fort save vs. ear-piercing scream, DC 16: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
The mite's eyes roll back and it falls, blood trickling from its ears. I'm afraid that means there's no target Ink can reach, given that he would have to enter their square to attack. I moved him forward 30ft, but feel free to adjust his position (there's a link to the map in my tagline) or describe where you'd like him to be.
GM Dennis |
Sorry for the delay, folks. Long day at work today, followed by a F2F game.
While Carson spends his time scanning for hidden threats, Meiri moves forward and attacks, drawing the ire of the remaining centipede, whose mandibles snap viciously at her.

Grel moves toward the mite, but is once again beaten to the punch (or the hammer, as it were) by Harada, who squishes the tiny creature into a fine paste. Instead, the dwarf picks his way through the goo and crushes the giant insect that's chewing on Meiri. Out of combat!
The boy slowly uncovers his head and sits up once the sounds of combat are over. "Oh! Thank goodness you came along! Thank you so much for saving me!"
Carson Stevenson |
Carson steps among the bodies and destroys and demon bile he finds with his cold iron dagger. He then searches the bodies for loot.
"Good thing we came along. This bunch was about to have you for lunch. Hey, that rhymes."
GM Dennis |
Carson steps among the bodies and destroys and demon bile he finds with his cold iron dagger. He then searches the bodies for loot.
Carson searches what little is left of the two mites, then follows the splatter to see where their gear might have landed. He finds two small daggers and twelve small darts embedded in various trees and bits of earth by the force of his allies' blows.
GM Dennis |
"Did they come into contact with you?"Verathis asks.
"Um...I don't know? I don't think so."
Harada gives the boy a big thumbs up "We got you! What are you doing out here anyway?"
"Oh, I was looking for a stray calf."
GM Dennis |
"Oh, uh, no. Um, no to both questions. What is it?"
Grel Veldgott |
More trouble than you need to get into. Best move along home, boy. Grel waves his cold iron warhammer over his shield to make sure there isn't any residual Demon's Bile. He's ready to move on.
