When Gadren tosses some jerky into the room the creature responds by raising it's head from the waters and glaring at the party.
Fortitude save DC15 or be petrified please.
It seems to be a Basilisk, but something has effected it's hide, turning it transparent?
What are you doing now?
Maria Vaduva |
Fort save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Maria glares back at the creature. "Well that seems hostile. I guess it's time for trouble."
But Maria isn't really a swimmer...
Gadren |
Gadren goes a bit pale "I don't think it's an ooze or a common elemental. It's giving a rather strange look."
He then tries to engage it in conversation begining with Sylvan, Aklo, Celestial, Infernal, Abyssal, Draconic and eventually Giant though he seems less hopeful as he continues.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Jack Ryder |
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Oh man just 2 off! Man I'd help you with that Arcana roll but I don't have any ranks in that one. Sorry bud.
"Whoa! That was a weird feeling. What's it trying to do? Should we kill it? What the heck is it?"
Cedric Rydell |
fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Cedric averts his eyes as his body seems to stiffen involuntarily. He can't recall what it was exactly, but does mention anything he does recall in hopes it jogs someones memory.
Lazar Dobrescu |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Theeere we go!
Kn Arcana, Monster Lore: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 3 = 17
I should have checked for Arcana first, LOL
Gadren |
Gadren watches with the others in horror as the ability takes affect on Lazar. "We destroy it or we run." Gadren for his part stretches his fingers and prepares to cast haste.
If Lazar has been turned to stone as in like flesh to stone Gadren is four levels off being able to fix that...
Jack Ryder |
Grinning every so slightly, "What the hey, let's kill it!" And with that, he moves toward the beast and draws his blades as he does.
Moving and drawing blades. Gonna try and take this thing out.
Jack Ryder |
Whoa whoa whoa! Time out! TIME! OUT! Okay, my bad. TOTALLY missed the fact that it's in water. New plan of attack. Especially considering swimming and stabbing seems just a bit difficult. Gonna draw my bow instead.
Draw weapon, Attack
Taking aim toward the basilisk and firing, "Translucent?! What does that make it then, a ghost or something like that?! I mean, that doesn't even make any sense."
Longbow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Jack Ryder |
Seeing the beast come toward them, Jack drops his bow and pulls out his blades, awaiting the creature. "That's a good boy. Come to Maria so she can destroy you," the rogue mutters, giving a slight grin.
GM_DBH |
The Basilisk draws close and prompt turns the water red as Maria slaughters it with blazing speed and strength.
If you've read the details of the Basilisk you know the solution to Lazar's problem.
No loot or anything of interest in here sadly.
What are you doing now?
Gadren |
"Right the good news is we can fix Lazar... the bad news is it's damn grizzly and he might find it a bit traumatizing. To put it bluntly we're going to need to baste him in it's blood before it congeals!" Gadren starts to dip his hands into the creatures blood "Once we are done a spot of prestidigitation and then we push forward? Jack want to examine that door for traps while we do this?"
Jack Ryder |
"Yes!" he exclaims all too quickly, nodding effusively. "Yes I will. THAT, my friend, is a good idea. I'll just... I'll check the door," he says as he heads in that direction at a faster than walking pace. "Because I surely want nothing to do with what whatever it is you're doing. That is...," he mutters, shaking his head, "Yeah no. I'm glad all I have to do is check doors."
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Maria Vaduva |
Maria smiles with contentment when the dangerous creature falls under her blade. She nods and grimly starts smearing blood all over Lazar.
Maria Vaduva |
Yeah? What part of Lazar should remain petrified? I don't think there's a way around having Gadren or Maria apply the blood pretty completely... XD

Jack the door is not trapped, but it is locked. Disable device DC20.
Lazar you come to finding you've been baptised with blood and Gadren is molesting you.
What are you doing now?
Jack Ryder |
Lazar you come to finding you've been baptised with blood and Gadren is molesting you.
LOL! Man I have GOT to check the ratings of the games. I could've sworn it said PG. ;)
"Good. No traps. For once. 'Bout time too. Now to get this baby opened." Pulling out his fantastic set of tools, the confident rogue goes to work. Disable Device: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28 Hearing that wonderful wonderful *click* sound, Jack grins smugly. "Well alright. And that is what we call 'that'," he mutters as he turns his attention to the others. "Once you are all done fondling our fellow team member, guys and gal, we can proceed through the door proper," he says as he opens the door and extends his arm out in a sweeping motion. "Voila!"
Cedric Rydell |
Good work Gadren, I am ashamed I myself could not recall the beast, I'm sure I had read about it somewhere. At jacks comment Cedric smiles.
Whats wrong Jack? You aren't jealous are you? hmhm. He quips, helping to ease his nerves and keep a smile on his face.
Lazar Dobrescu |
Lazar starts moving slowly, as if his limbs would crumble if he wasn't careful enough.
"Woah... Thank you guys."
While Jack does his thing, Lazar checks all his body parts and his gear.
"I was conscious and aware all the time, just for your information."
Jack Ryder |

Looking over at the cleric with a raised eyebrow and a slight grin, "Ha. Ha. You're a funny guy, Cedric, a funny guy. Not as funny as me, of course, but you're alright," he says, winking. He then remembers his bow and goes to pick it up before preparing to go through the door.
Gadren |
"Lets push on so before Jack gets too talkative!" Gadren keeps his longsword in one hand and keeps his other free for casting magic.
GM_DBH |
perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Jack as you open the doors to K4 you immediately detect 3 winged heads lurking in the shadows on the ceiling of the room.
This creature is a blackened, bat-winged fiend’s head. Tentacles dangle from chin and scalp, and its fanged mouth hangs agape.
What are you doing now?
Gadren |
"Vargoilles, they come from evil outer planes, try not to get bitten their bite hampers magical healing, and don't let them kiss anyone if they go down... it's how they procreate. They're like carrion birds, feeding on scraps of souls. They can paralyze people with their shriek... they can infest an area quickly, best to be done with them. No particular resistances of vulnerabilities."
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Maria Vaduva |
Maria grins at talk of an undead challenge and begins preparing.
Divine bond with my weapon followed by divine favor then weapon of awe. Not sure how many of those I'll get to cast but I'll take what I can get before attacking these foul creatures.
Jack Ryder |
With a look of abject horror upon his face, "Did you just say... kiss?" Those freaky looking things?! Oh man that is just sick! Boy this place just keeps getting better and better," he mutters sarcastically. Pulling out his blades, "Alright, freak shows, time to go bye-bye. Your 'kissing' days are over."
Lazar Dobrescu |
Lazar mutters some prayers asking for the Lady's blessing.
Divine Favor.

Cedric bears the brunt of the screams before glancing around to survey the situation. With the creatures flying around, and some of his allies freezing up he pulls out a scroll of Remove paralysis from his pack and recites of short hymn before the scroll is burned away in radiant fire. The flames then moves to momentarily engulf both Gadren and Lazar.
you each get another check to resist the paralysis at +4 to your save(s). This would be before your next turn I believe. Leaves me with one scroll of that spell left.

Cedric Rydell |
cedric cast remove paralysis on lazar and gadren, which gives you an immediate reroll with a +4. So, it should not take your turn.
Lazar Dobrescu |
Assuming either Cedric or Gadren leaves Lazar a bit of room to fire unimpeded...
Lazar feels his muscles getting hard and a feeling of dizziness invading him, starting from the tips of his fingers, but suddenly it all works perfectly well again. It seems his body has reacted to Cedric's scroll, and he's ready to give some presents back to the flying heads.
