"When Baba Yaga is approached without good preparation, sincerity, and due respect, she is dangerous. When too many questions (or the wrong questions) are asked, she is also dangerous. Only by maintaining pure heart and faith, proper respect for her as one's elder, and loving care of her creatures can the encounter be successful." - Dubravka Ugrešić

ROW 3: Night Terrors

The 'Lady' snarls at you all, and slashes at Dez with hands that suddenly shift into clammy looking claws.

Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
for: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

She misses, however.

I don't see a need for 'combat' if you all basically pile on her. Feel free to RP this out.

Dez leaps back from the nasty claws and immediately thrusts forward with his rapier, impaling the thing on the opposite side from Ogon's sword.

When it falls, Dez takes a look to see what it was and then participates in searching the creature and the room.

ROW 3: Night Terrors

Nice, Ogon, I'll buy that.

"Argentea" may or may not have taken the full force of the hex--its eyes widen--but Ogon's flame blade makes it a purely moot speculation as he ends the creature's life. It slumps to the floor, gradually shifting to a somewhat clammy looking, incompleletly formed pale white and reddish pink humanoid, with clawed extremities and goggly eyes.

The doppelganger was only entrusted with paste jewelry and some Taldan dresses. Perhaps the higher-ups of the Tower didn't trust it with more during training?

Nothing further of value is found in the room.

Yrja's stomach growls loudly at the smells. How could she be hungry at a time like this? She frowns and steps forward to open the door for her companions, the movement becoming routine by now. She tenses, preparing to confront whatever menace awaits for them beyond... or to devour the delicious food!

ROW 3: Night Terrors

Yrja swings the door open to a cabinet lined, oddly angular room. A chopping block, water barrel, and cauldron stand near the rooms only door. The aromas of bread and stew are overwhelming, mouthwatering.

A gnomish lout of a humanoid glares at Yrja and Dez with reddish eyes, from above a bulbous nose and beard. It looks very much like a gnome, and furthermore, like a gnome that is usually dirty as a potato in the earth, but somewhat scrubbed down for cookery duties--its drab clothes, while stained and browned, look fairly clean. It, or he, snarls at Yrja and Dez.

"Intruders! Intruders in the kitchen! Hestrigggg!" it yells, and waggles its fingers, which, despite having trimmed fingernails, have a bit more dirt on them and under the nails than one would want from a chef.

Haha, for some reason I thought the door was on this side. Mild retcon--you can only enter this room via the dining hall, where you slew the pixies and drove off the forlarren. But the spriggan is in there, just kind of small. I'll zoom him up to Medium size.

ROW 3: Night Terrors

this is true. Yrja would know that a spell like effect was...effected. Unless she wants to rp that she didn't see it, which is funnier. :D

ROW 3: Night Terrors

I did move Dez a little more...he's a fiendish sprinter today!

Orik charges in, all hunger and half-orc (and holiness), and slices at the spriggan, dealing it a nasty cut from to nape, almost hitting a neck artery.

Ogon follows with his irresistible blade of fire, slamming into its midsection with a searing hiss.

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

While the spriggan still has some life in it yet, it collapses under the inexorable weight of Yrja's Mahb-trained hex.

I'm glad you were able to dispatch the thing quickly. How is the stew, Orik? What's in it?"

As he listens to Orik's answer he searches around for loot or other items of interest.

ROW 3: Night Terrors

The spriggan's "treasure" consists of: delicious oxmeat stew with winter root vegetables bobbing in the oily mess, fresh winter rye-wheat bread, steaming and warm, and a small tray of cookies, decked in snow-white powdered sugar (of course) and in the shapes of stars and moons and little houses. There is one neatly wrapped dragon or drake cookie, covered in wax paper and sealed with a drop of red wax with the face of a smiling child. It looks somewhat like the white dragon sculpture in the courtyard.
